  1. So, as far as I recall, the Toa Hordika and some Rahi in Metru Nui are the only beings in the Bionicle lore we see who have been mutated by hordika venom - however the Visorak Hordes are told to have ravaged countless lands, and to be a force feared across all the islands. Surely, in all of their conquests, they infected other beings? Like, hundreds of them? How come no other Hordika infected beings are ever encountered? Was the Hordika Venom attribute exclusive to those Visorak who were in Metru Nui, or do all of them have it? Do they not use it more often? Do they "decide" whether or not to use it? Does the king order them to use the venom, and otherwise they are forbidden to use it? Do beings infected with Hordika eventually succumb to the venom after a period of time as mutated savages? Even if the real explanation is that there are plenty of other Hordika-infected beings out there, we just don't see them, I would have loved to see them appear more often as enemies. Either way, where are all the Hordika victims?
  2. Hi, guys! Recently, I have been studying Bionicle G2. I noticed a lot of things in there that remind me of something else. I know that G2 reminds us of G1, but there are other similarities in my mind. It's not just CCBS, like Hero Factory, but there are others. Here's a list of things that I compared: G1: 1. Most of the Toa's personalities are the same as G1. 2. How the Toa arrived in the island in G2 is very much like in G1, but the Toa crashed landed on the island rather than the ocean. 3. The Protectors and the villagers are like the Turaga and Matoran because they are short and can fight. How the Protectors lead their people reminds me of the Turaga. The people also remind me of Agori because they can reproduce and have parents and kids. 4. Okoto looks sort of like the island of Mata Nui. 5. Master Tahu's mask looks kind of like Tahu Mata's in 2001. 6. Tahu's giant swords are a mix of Lhikan's and 2002 Tahu Nuva's swords. 7. Tahu's armor reminds me of G1 Tahu's Golden Armor in 2010. 8. Master Gali's mask looks like a mix of 2002 Gali Nuva's mask and Takadox's face. 9. Master Lewa's weapons are a mix of Lewa Mata's axe and 2002 Lewa Nuva's swords. 10. Master Kopaka's mask looks very much like Kopaka Mata's. 11. His shield/skis are like Kopaka Mata's and 2002 Kopaka Nuva's shields and ski. 12. Master Pohatu's mask looks a little like Pohatu Mata's mask. 13. Master Onua's mask looks sort of like Onua Mata's mask. 14. Onua's shovels remind me of Onua Mata's claws. 15. Onua's silver shoulder armor reminds me of 2002 Onua Nuva's. 16. Ekimu and his Mask of Creation remind me of Artakha. 17. How Ekimu has a brother named Makuta and was put into endless sleep remind me of the Great Spirit Mata Nui. 18. Makuta reminds me of Makuta Teridax from G1 because he's Makuta, he is jealous of his brother and turned evil, and his armor turned red and black when wearing the Mask of Ultimate Power. 19. The Toa's quest for the Golden Masks of Powers is pretty much like the G1 Toa's quests for the Kanohi masks and getting the Golden Knaohi masks before doing a final showdown with Makuta's minions. 20. The Mask Makers remind me of the Mask Makers in G1. 21. The Skull Spiders remind me of the Visorak because they're evil spiders that threaten people. 22. The Golden Mask of Skull Spiders reminds me of the Heart of the Visorak from G1 because it can command the spiders. 23. Skull Slicer reminds me of Nocturn because he is a lieutenant with a green color, four arms and has at least two swords. 24. The Arena in the City of the Mask Makers reminds me of the Coliseum in the Legends of Metru Nui movie. 25. When Kopaka called Lewa "the Master of Air", reminds me of G1 Lewa, who is the Toa of Air. 26. The online episode's title "Beware the stringer tails" reminds me of a Vorox's non-canon quote, "Beware my stringer tail!" from the Bionicle website in 2009. 27. Another episode's title, "Unity, Duty, Destiny", reminds me of the Three Virtues from G1. 28. How Kulta hit all six Toa after putting the Mask of Creation on his face reminds me of Brutaka because of defeating six Toa with one swing of his big multi-bladed weapons, wearing a gold mask, and being a big and bad guy. 29. The Toa Uniters are like a mix of 2002 and 2008 Toa Nuva because they wear new armor, have new weapons and Nuva symbols, and can combine with smaller beings to get more power. 30. Uxar reminds me of the Nui-Rama and Nui-Kopen from G1 because of how they look like insects with wings. 31. How Pohatu gets attacked by scorpions in the beginning of G2 reminds me of how he got attacked by a Nui-Jaja in the Mata Nui Online Game. 32. Melum's name reminds me of Malum. Both of them even have two claws on each hand. 33. How Umarak is sent by Makuta reminds me of how Makuta Teridax sends Nidhiki and Krekka in the Legends of Metru Nui movie because both involve Makuta hiring hunters and are animated. 34. Umarak's mask's powers reminds me of G1's Mask of Shadows. 35. The Mask of Control reminds me of G1's Mask of Mind Control. Something else: 1. The reboot is like The Amazing Spider-Man movie series because it started out fresh and reused the same beginning in a different way. It was meant for a younger audience of this generation. Along the reboot, it has more humor than the original and is modernized. 2. How the 2015 line started with evil skeletons reminds me of how Ninjago started that similar way. 3. The animation in the 2015 Online Animations look like a mix of Mucha Lucha TV show, a TV show called Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesome-ness' 2D-animated scenes, and Teen Titan Go TV show in 2013. 4. How the Toa are more detailed and modernized than their Toa Mata counterparts reminds me of the Transformers movie and recent Transformers TV shows. 5. Master Lewa's mask looks a lot like Preston Stromer's helmet from Hero Factory. 6. Master Pohatu's boomerangs remind me of the Green Goblin's or Hobgoblin's gliders from Marvel because they can fly when he is stepping on and riding them. 7. How Pohatu creates sand tornadoes reminds me of Spinjitzu from Ninjago and the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes. 8. In the 2015 Online Animations, Pohatu sounds like Batman because of his shrill and serious voice. Pohatu even uses boomerangs like Batman, too. 9. Master Onua is like a mix of Hulk and Thor from Marvel because he has a bulky body and uses a hammer respectively. 10. Onua also reminds me of CHI Gorzan constraction figure from Legends of Chima. 11. The Lord of Skull Spiders reminds me of the giant spiders in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. 12. How the Toa use "Unity" as a keyword to their triumph over evil reminds me of the Avengers using the keyword "assemble" to their triumph over evil (Both superhero teams were the main teams of heroes in the same year, 2015, too). 13. Kulta's name reminds me of the Anacondrai Cultists from Ninjago and Ultron from the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie in 2015 (Plus, Kulta and Ultron are the main robotic villains who have large robotic armies in the same year, 2015. Also, Kulta and the Cultists are in that same year.). 14. How the Skull Warriors made lousy shots on the Toa Masters reminds me of Stormtroopers from Star Wars. Lol. 15. The Skull Scorpio's name reminds me of Scorpio from Hero Factory. 16. Skull Basher kind of reminds me of Pyrox from Hero Factory because of his horns and the fact that he is a Minotaur. 17. In the 2015 Online Animations, Kulta's mask reminds me of Zurg from Toy Story because of how his chin is enlarged as opposed to his set form. 18. How he laughed in his character video sounds sort of like Darth Vader. 19. When he wore the Mask of Creation and hit six Toa in one swing, these remind me of Sauron in the beginning of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring movie when Sauron is an evil villains who wears a helmet with many horns and hits many warriors with one swing of his weapon. 20. The Mask of Creation looks like Vultraz's mask or Breez's helmet from Hero Factory with a crown on it. 21. The 3D animation in The Journey to One reminds me of Transformers: Robots in Disguise TV show in 2015. The 2D parts that involve water and lava reminds me of the Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra TV shows. 22. How Umarak the Hunter transformed into the monstrous Destroyer reminds me of Kraven the Hunter's transform into monsters in the Spectacular Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man TV shows where Kraven turns into a clawed monster who is bigger and tougher. 23. The Elemental Beasts' faces remind me of Aquagon from Hero Factory. 24. Quake Beast reminds me of Bruizer from Hero Factory because of his abnormally large and weird-looking spiked arm with a function in his set. 25. The Umarak combiner with him and the Elemental Beasts kind of reminds me of Doomsday from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie or DC Comics in general because it seems that Umarak the Destroyer gets spiky-er and stronger. Perhaps call Umarak "Doomarak" or "Umarak the Doom-bringer". Lol. 26. In Umarak the Destroyer's character video yesterday, how Umarak and the Beasts are animated also reminds me of Doomsday because they have spikes on their bodies when the spikes aren't in their set forms. When Umarak glows in the beginning of the video, this also reminds of Doomsday doing that in the BvS movie. Also, at the end of the episode where Makuta turns Umarak the Hunter into the Destroyer, Umarak's shadow is smooth like his set form, but in the character video, he has the spikes, which reminds me of Doomsday in the BvS movie again. Seems pretty evident that Umarak gets spiky-er and stronger. 27. Also in the video, Umarak is holding a glowing purple and black object and seems to be controlling a purple blob-like thing. He seems to be creating a portal that way. Perhaps the glowing object is equivalent to the Realm Crystal from Ninjago? The summer Netflix TV episodes aren't out yet, but I have a theory about how would the last one going to end: When almost all hope is lost when Umarak the Destroyer is proved very difficult to defeat when he reaches to his Beast-Umarak combiner form (I would imagine he would have the power to absorb Lava Beast's, Storm Beast's, and Quake Beast's powers to become this, similar to Kevin 11 and Aggregor from the Ben 10 TV shows) to become more powerful. When Pohatu feels regretful that because of himself, Umarak is unstoppable and can't be defeated by the combined might of the Toa Uniters, the Elemental Creatures, and Ekimu when he wears the Mask of Control. Pohatu is going to rush into action by Uniting with Ketar. He goes to defeat Umarak alone by removing the Mask of Control off from him as a way to make up for his mistake in the episode where he let Umarak take the Mask of Control. Pohatu jumps on top of Umarak and stabs him on the chest with his spear with a very great force, so he can get the Mask without being interfered while Umarak is in a very great pain. However, before Umarak could lost the Mask and die from the stabbing, Umarak stabs Pohatu with his claws while Pohatu successfully pulled the Mask out of his face, saving the day (It's like a mix of how Superman's battle with Doomsday ended and how the Lizard stabbed a police officer with his claws in the end of the first The Amazing Spider-Man movie in 2012). After Pohatu removed the Mask, Umarak throws him off a cliff before changing back to his Hunter form and die from his wounds. Pohatu is too wounded and too weakened, so he couldn't save himself from falling 80 feet to his death on the ground. He has Ketar on his back, so Pohatu puts him in front of him while his back is heading to the ground because Pohatu knew that Okoto needs Ketar, so Pohatu is going to sacrifice himself to break Ketar's fall. Tahu and Lewa goes to save him. As Lewa throws a vine to catch Pohatu, it was too late to save him because Pohatu hit the ground very hard on his back just as the vine grabbed him while Ketar survived and is saved by the Toa. When the Toa and Ekimu check to see if Pohatu is okay, they discovered that he's dead due to his impact on the ground from his very high fall. They then feel extremely sad about it (It's like a mix of Matoro's sacrifice in G1 and how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie in 2012 ended, when Spider-Man failed to save a girl, who is played by Emma Stone, whose last name is the same as Pohatu's element.) I said this because Bionicle seems to have its ideas inspired by many things. I know that any of this would be doubtable that it would happen when the episodes come out, but it was extremely sad and a new twist that we never seen before if it would really happen. So, what are your thoughts? See any other similarities?
  3. In story year 2007/8 (not sure exactly), it was revealed that there was more than one Makuta, and that Teridax was merely their leader. When exactly was this revealed to the "main characters?" I know that certain factions (the Dark Hunters, the Vortixx, the Order of Mata Nui) were always aware of the Brotherhood, and that the Makuta revealed their inner shadow and went to war with the Dark Hunters around when the Toa Metru moved the Matoran of Metru Nui to the island of Mata Nui. But where (and from whom) did the Toa Nuva and Toa Mahri find out?
  4. Colibri is my first posted MOC. It is a Rahi native to Mata-Nui, specifically Le-Wahi. It is based on a hummingbird, with a vaguely quetzal-inspired tail. It is at least tangentially related to the Gukko, but much smaller and cannot be ridden. I designed Colibri with a gear function in the wings that causes the upper green wing to move, as well as the lower green wing. The silver portion remains stationary. The upper and lower wings move independently from each other but are attached to the same reciprocating function. It contains no CCBS pieces except for ones with nearly identical G1 equivalents. It contains one of the Lego rubber bands to hold the mechanism together. Thank you for viewing my MOC, and please vote for Colibri. https://flic.kr/p/HsFHnS https://flic.kr/p/HYex3S https://flic.kr/p/HYeweN https://flic.kr/p/HsL46v
  5. Hi, guys! Ever love combiners? Well, let's talk about them. You ever thought of new combiners from the Bionicle sets that you love? I know we can combine them, but do you wish that Lego could've published more new combiners? Here's my examples to see what I mean: G1: 1. The Toa Mata Nui (all six Toa) 2. The Toa Nuva Nui 3. The Toa Metru Kaita (one for Vakama, Onewa, and Whenua, and another for Nokama, Matau, and Nuju) 4. The Toa Metru Nui 5. The Toa Hordika Kaita and Nui 6. The Piraka Kaita (one for Hakann, Avak, and Reidak, and another for Vezok, Zaktan, and Thok) 7. The Piraka Nui 8. The Toa Inika Kaita (one for Jaller, Hewkii, and Nuparu, and another for Hahli, Kongu, and Matoro) 9. The Toa Inika Nui 10. Ehlek+Takadox+Nocturn=some giant and spiky glow-in-the-dark creature 11. It would be like 2007's own Titan combiner set (I was surprised and disappointed that 2007 didn't get one. ) 17. A combiner that is made of all six Vahki (similar to Krahka) 18. A combiner that is made of all the Toa Hordika similar to Krahka and Vizon 19. The Metru Nui Matoran Nui - made of all six 2004 Matoran as shown in the Bionicle Adventures books (too bad it never came as a set combiner ) 20. Toa Inika Jaller+Kongu+Matoro=their own combiner (the others got theirs called Toa Jovan) 21. 2008 Kopaka+Lewa+Pohatu=some Order of Mata Nui being (the other Toa Nuva got theirs called Trinuma) 22. Makuta Antroz+Vamprah+Chirox=some Rahi creature (the Mistika Makuta, Krika, Gorast, and Bitil got their called the Swamp Stalker) 23. Makuta+Mutran (and perhaps Vican)=some Makuta 24. Vamprah+Gavla+Kopaka+Solek=some Makuta (Antroz, Raidak, Lewa, and Tamna got theirs called Spirah) 25. Chirox+Kirop+Pohatu+Photok=some Makuta 26. The 2008 Toa Nuva Kaita 27. The 2008 Toa Nuva Nui 28. The 2008 Makuta Kaita (one for Antroz, Vamprah, and Chirox, and another for Krika, Gorast, and Bitil) 29. Toa Ignika+2008 Takanuva=some Toa or Order of Mata Nui member 30. Tarix+Berix+Kiina=the Element Lord of Water or a Water Glatorian 34. Gresh+Tarduk+Vastus=the Element Lord of Jungle or a Jungle Glatoran 35. Strakk+Metus+Gelu=the Element Lord of Ice or a Ice Glatoran 36. Vorox+Zesk=the Element Lord of Sand 37. A warrior class Skrall+Atakus+Stronius+Tuma=the Element Lord of Rock 38. Antroz+Raidak+2008 Tahu=Tren Krom G2: 1. Lewa+Vizuna=a combiner similar to Tahu+Narmoto, Kopaka+Izotor, and Onua+Korgot (too bad that never came with instructions ) 2. Gali+Kivoda=a combiner similar to #1 3. Pohatu+Nilkuu=a combiner similar to #1 4. All the Skull Creatures (Kulta the Skull Grinder+Skull Warrior+Skull Slicer+Skull Scorpio+Skull Basher+Lord of Skull Spiders+Skull Spiders)=Skull Behemoth 5. A Uniter Lewa+Onua combiner similar to the Tahu+Pohatu and Gali+Kopaka+Melum combiner 6. G2 Toa Kaita (Toa Masters) 7. G2 Toa Kaita (Toa Uniters) 7. G2 Toa Nui (all six Masters) 8. G2 Toa Nui (all six Toa Uniters) 9. Protector Nui (all six Protectors) 10. Ikir+Ketar=some wildlife animal in Okoto 11. Akida+Uxar+Terak=some wildlife animal in Okoto 12. The 2016 Beasts=a bigger Beast similar to that Skull Warrior/Slicer/Basher combiner 13. 2016 Ekimu+Umarak=A combiner similar to that 2015 Ekimu/Kulta/Skull Scorpio combiner There. You see what I mean? I know many of them are repetitive, but that's how I would like them to be when Lego would have published them. What about your combiners in mind?
  6. Hello everybody, here are my virtual re-imaginations of the Toa Metru! (images are clickable) Thank you for your attention! EDIT: Here comes Vakama! EDIT1: Added Matau! And with that, the team is gathered!
  7. Another digital re-imagination of Gen1 character: Takanuva! (image is clickable)
  8. This topic is somewhat inspired by the one about what G1 would have been like if the story never left the island of Mata-Nui. So in G1, the first three years, despite being about Biomechanical beings which, let's face it, almost every young 'un incessantly called robots, was more of a fantasy affair than sci-fi. You had a tropical village, primarily melee weapons based on medieval technology, a tribal society, mysticism and ancient artifacts. Yes yes, you can have all that in a sci-fi story as well. I'd like this topic not to debate the range and definition of the terms sci-fi and fantasy, so let's stick to the very basic definition of sci-fi = technology and futuristic stuff/ fantasy = mystical/old-tech stuff. Anyhow, G1 took a decidedly Sci-Fi turn in 2004 and never really ditched it until 2009 with the more... "primitive" Bara Magna setting. Metru-Nui introduced all kinds of cool technology in '04 and '05, the highly industrialized depiction of Voya Nui in '06 and freaking semi-auto ranged weaponry also is a bit more on the Sci-Fi side, '07 had high-tech submarines and do I need to even speak of '08? So seeing as there is a pretty good chance G2 isn't going away in 2017, let's, for the sake of discussion assume it sticks around for at least as long as G1. Now, so far G2 has opted for the more fantasy-oriented theme of the early years of G1. However, what if it stays here? What if G2 never makes the switch to sci-fi? Would you be interested in seeing a longer saga with a more low-tech fantasy atmosphere to it? We know there is an airship that Ekimu uses, but that can still err on the side fantasy with some stretch. Now, it would certainly make travel between the other islands easier. While we don't know how large the planet is, it is safe to assume that with that level of tech (let's assume the "elemental blasters" are like magic and stuff), traveling to another continent by boat would be a lengthy affair. Either way, I'd love to see G2 evolve into having a larger scale story spanning various islands that were mostly isolated up until then, and the contact between them leads to tension/war. In the meantime some over-reaching enemy is gathering which threatens all islands, and the goal of the Toa is to create a stable alliance between them to face the coming attack. We could see a diverse range of cultures and set designs, with a wide range of non-Okotoan species. Would you prefer if G2 took a similar sci-fi turn as G1, or do you like the low-tech tribal atmosphere of early G1 and current G2?
  9. The title pretty much says it all. Last night I rebuilt my Brutaka set. He's still incredibly awesome. But what's up with his second pair of arms? Checking BioSector, there's only a reference to throwing knives kept in his armor. Is there any other canon reason for the arms? Are they even arms? They bulk what would otherwise be a plain Piraka upper torso, so do they serve to bulk him up?
  10. Okay, so it's been firmly established that beings in the Matoran Universe had no concept of romance. Greg Farshtey's reasoning for this was that the concept of romance emerged in our world as an extension of our reproductive needs and desires. With no biological reproduction, there was no reason for the MU to have this construct. So, if we take the view that romance is indeed a social construct- and one that was present on Spherus Magna- what happens when beings from the Matoran Universe are introduced to this foreign cultural concept? I can imagine reactions varying from "These Romans Agori are crazy!" to "What a lovely expression of Unity!" to "Help! Help! There's two Glatorian over there trying to kill each other by sucking out each other's brains through the mouth!" to "This is the worst place to be wearing a Mask of Telepathy!". Some might even try to adopt the concept themselves, but they'd probably still be very confused and might get a few things wrong. The idea came about from thinking about the Gems from Steven Universe. Like Matoran, the Gems come from an alien race that does not reproduce biologically. As such, they don't appear to have a sexuality in the conventional sense, and gems that live on their home planet seemingly have no cultural concept of romantic love (though they do obviously have emotions and are capable of caring about others). However, after living on Earth and discovering human cultures, some gems formed strong relationships with each other, or even with humans, that they define as romantic. The idea of that happening in Bionicle seems unlikely, but at the same time, it doesn't seem to violate the established "rules" either. So, what do you think? Personally, I'd think the misunderstandings and confusion would be the most common reaction, but it's a fun concept to think about either way.
  11. http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/21824-the-heist-or-how-berix-became-a-real-thief/ review me
  12. find the review topic here: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/21825-the-heist-or-how-berix-became-a-real-thief-review-topic/ THE HEI$T, or, how Berix became a real thief Chapter One: Berix The Agori named Berix ran down the street. It was a fine day on Spherus Magna, in the sprawling city of New Metru Nui. After the Reformation, and the Evacuation, the Matoran and Agori had worked together to build a massive utopian metropolis where all could live together in peace. Berix lived in the western part of town, where tall sandstone apartment buildings dominated the skyline, and small, green, single bench parks dotted the spaces between the flat, rectangular monoliths of tan stone and clear glass. He found his way to his apartment building. Though all of the buildings were designed the same, the chute system had planted stations in many of the apartment blocks. Berix recognised his building on the grounds that it had three chutes entering its largest side, on the north end of the building, while only two left the south end and one left the thin eastern end. The eastern chute made a loop ("for stupid little giggles," Berix's Toa roommate Barana would say) and another chute ran through the loop. Berix ran inside, jumped into the elevator, and pressed the 33 button as fast as he could. The elevator couldn't rise fast enough. As he stepped out of the elevator, he took notice of an older Agori walking down the hall in the direction he needed to go. He grimaced, swore under his breath, and ran the opposite direction, planning to climb the two flights to floor 34 and then loop back down two flights to the other end of floor 33. He came back to the 33rd floor after a jog down the hall of floor 34, and as he came down the west end of the hall on floor 33, he saw the slow-moving older Agori had just passed his room. Not wanting to be impolite, he turned and looped around again to the east end of floor 33 and finally came to his room. The room placard 33K had never looked more inviting. He stepped into the small, 2 bed 1 bath flat with thin walls, and collapsed onto the small couch. He felt around for the remote control and pointed it at the protoscreen across from the couch. He pressed the on button. Electrical currents ran through the protoscreen, and colours came into being across the downward-flowing protodermis. The picture cleared as sound began to come through the speakers. He pressed the channel up button multiple times. "Buy the new Mobius-brand mask polish tod-" "What's up with Vahki, I mean real-" "I have seven hundred cans of non-perishable food in my basement, I'm ready for the next Shatter-" "Breaking news!" Berix heard the words he had wanted to hear and sat up. "The Kanohi Ignika disappeared from its place in the New Coliseum Vault today. Authorities have found no traces of evidence, and the guards on duty had not seen anything outside the vault. The security cameras had deactivated for a five-minute period this morning before coming back online, revealing that the Ignika had disappeared. Toa Helryx offers a few words." The image shifted from everyone's favourite Po-Matoran news anchor, Pekka, to an image of Toa Helryx. Her blue-and-gold armoured hands were placed on either side of a podium, several microphones seated on it in front of her mask. The mouthplate was opened on her mask, allowing her to speak. "The Toa Alliance is doing all it can to ensure that the Mask of Life is found and returned to the Vault. We have sent our best scouts and soldiers out to search for its energy signature. Any questions?" Helryx pointed to someone out of view. "You." She waited a moment. "For those of you that didn't hear, he asked, 'is it true that Mata Nui is still alive inside the Ignika?' I must sadly answer this question with a yes. Our best scientists have confirmed that he is alive within the mask, and it is for this reason that its energy signature is detectab-" The protoscreen turned off as Barana pressed a button on the machine. Toa Barana was a female Toa of Plantlife. She wore a Mask of Energy Rebounding, which would catch any attack and repel it back to its original creator at double the power. She was a tall, thin figure, with waist-length silver hair. Two Cordak Blasters were strapped to her back, and two ammo belts crossed her chest. A smaller, one-shot photosynthesis cannon was attached to her shoulder. Her mask resembled a Lehvak shield. "What'cha watchin' there, Berix?" She was loud and boisterous as always, and Berix jumped as the protoscreen deactivated. "Th-the news, Barana," he stammered. "Yeah, the Mask of Life went missing. Whaddaya think of that?" "I-i-i-it scares me. So do YOU!" "Sorry, sorry. Thought you were asleep or something." "Why would you be LOUDER if I was ASLEEP?!" "I dunno. Good question." Berix placed his hands over his face and screamed as Barana walked casually into the kitchen. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day, Berix walked the short walk down the street to his job at a convenience store at a six-way intersection. As he rounded the corner, a being not much taller than him stood in his way. He appeared to be an Agori, as he wore a silver helmet, but that was where the similarities ended. A black cape was slung around his shoulders, flowing down to the knees on his abnormally long legs. His body, arms, and legs were grey, save for a red plate of armour on either bicep. A dark metal gauntlet covered his left hand, and he held a long walking stick in his right. He grabbed Berix by the shoulders, and pulled him, kicking and screaming, into an alley. "WAIT! NO! STOP! DON'T DO THIS! I WORK A MINIMUM WAGE JOB, I'M ABOUT TO GET A PROMOTION!" The being removed his cape and tied it around Berix's head, keeping his mouth shut as he dragged him to the back of the alley. As his cape came off, two large bat wings folded away from his back, and the being lifted Berix into the air between two apartment buildings, and off southeast towards the commercial district of New Metru Nui.

  14. The tone and style of the Bionicle storyline underwent many changes during its ten-year run. As such, there have been a few retcons and retools along the way, and not all of the old story material is considered canon. Which parts of the early Bionicle storyline make you look back and go "ummm no, that's not how that works"? It may be characterization that seems off, terminology no longer in use, powers or artifacts being used in a different way to how they're supposed to work, or things that are just flat out wrong in terms of what we currently know to be canon. Some of it's awkward, a lot of it's funny, and plenty is just outright weird. The most glaring example for me is all the "Mata Nui awakens this day" in Mask of Light... um, nope, sorry, not for another five years, guys... Was that even a retcon, or did the filmmakers really just not know that Mata Nui wasn't meant to wake up yet? There's a bit of this in the Hapka books, like the fact that the Toa put new masks on top of their old ones, but suvas are never mentioned so you get the impression that the Toa are just walking around with these giant dorky stacks of masks on their faces. Also, Tsundere!Kopaka being a jealous baby whenever Gali pays attention to Tahu. It's hilarious. What were the weirdest things about early Bionicle for you? What are you glad they got rid of? Is there any of it that you think should have been kept in? (*cough* Macku/Hewkii *cough*) Discuss...
  15. In the BIONICLE Canon, both G1 and G2, do the bonkles actually have the gears on their back that turn their arms/waist, and if so, can they be turned by other bonkles?
  16. Y'know how the Nuva symbols keep showing up in the artwork on the facebook page? It makes you wonder - is it just an easter egg? or will the Nuva symbols become important again? Do NOT discuss leaked content. -B6 Just another easter egg? I don't think so. Could it be that the Nuva symbol connection might answer why the G1 Toa had a connection to their Nuva Symbols? And perhaps might answer the questions of the origins of the Okoto Toa? Are they the same toa? fused to their symbols? Thoughts- what's the connection?
  17. Click this banner (or this link) to be taken to a new epic, released in 2015. It is a re-imagining of the events depicted in this topic. It is standalone, and is what I would call the "definitive" version, even if it is not yet complete. If you do read it, please note that reading this topic is NOT necessary. Back on December 19, 2010, I posted the first chapter to a comedy I had titled Tahu vs. Tahu. It was a massive hit, reaching the hot topics list on the front page of BZPower 9 times and amassing 13 pages between the first two seasons. Unfortunately, that original topic was lost in the Great Downtime of 2011; however, when the forums returned I re-launched it with the third season. That topic can be seen here, where it managed 12 pages for the final two seasons. However, that topic is no longer readable due to the formatting errors that hit BZPower in late 2013, and since the loss of the archives, the first two seasons cannot be found at all. As such, I have decided to re-release the entire thing in this topic - right from the very beginning to the very end. Assuming that I remember to keep up with the schedule, I shall post a single chapter each day; after the completion of each season, I shall also release its related specials - chapters that were unrelated to the main story and served purely as comic relief. Please keep in mind while reading that the comedy itself remains unchanged. It was originally written several years ago, and I have left it entirely intact. Hopefully it is still mildly fun to laugh at the horrible writing. Anyway... without further ado, I present the original Tahu vs. Tahu. (Oh, and I will update this post with links to each chapter as they are released.) The boy rushed into the giant mansion, dragging several giant plastic bags behind him. Inside were several canisters and boxes, full of brand new toys. Inside these boxes were rahi, such as Nui-Rama. Inside the canisters were the Toa Mata, all six. One would become the leader of all the bionicles to come, never challenged, never fought with. Of course, if it were to be that way forever, then this comedy would end before it began, so of course things are going to get spiced up a bit. Tahu Mata yawned and stood the first bionicle to ever be built in the mansion. He glanced around, and saw his fellow toa still in their canisters. He walked over to Lewa’s, sidestepping the bumps in the blanket, and twisted the canister open, with great difficulty. After several minutes, Lewa was standing next to him. “Hello.” Tahu said. “Hello.” Lewa said. “This is... boring.” “Yeah.” Tahu agreed. “But once more of us are built, we’re gonna have a party!” And so, half an hour later, the rahi had all flown away, and the six toa were sitting with the turaga, who’d also arrived. “I say we vote for a leader.” Turaga Onewa decided. “I vote Tahu, since he was the first open.” “No, really, you don’t need to.” Tahu laughed. “I’m serious.” Onewa told him. “Alright then.” Turaga Matau said. “It is official. Tahu Mata is our leader!” “This... should be interesting.” Tahu muttered. Today.... “Alright.” Tahu Mata yelled, as the gathered bionicles below him fell silent. “It’s been ten great years.” Tahu Mata announced. “We’ve announced Lewa Mata as my second in command; we’ve named several others as a lower level government. We’ve lived in peace and prosperity. Now, as you all know, bionicle is ending.” There were prompt boos. “Hero Factory sucks!” someone yelled. Tahu Mata nodded. “However, we must prepare. We are receiving six new arrivals today, made as a tribute to some of us. I do not know who yet.” “I hope it’s me.” Ahkmou interrupted. “As I was saying.” Tahu Mata continued. “That is not the only thing; once Hero Factory arrives, we need to be prepared. They may be hostile, and we’ll have no idea how ruthless they are.” “If they’re anything like us, then they’re gonna kill someone.” Kazi pointed out. “Hey!” Toa Metru Matau swung into the room. “Shut up! The sets are arriving!” “Places!” Tahu Mata ordered. Not one second after Velika had dodged out of sight; several bags flew into the room and landed on the bed. Several black and yellow canisters fell off the bed and to the floor with a crash. “Looks like some are species sets.” Tahu Mata said, crawling out of the shadows. “Hey, the yellow one’s a Rahkshi!” Takanuva exclaimed. “It’s... yellow. And it doesn’t have a name. Just Rahkshi.” “Looks like the series is called ‘Stars’.” Kazi announced. “Small set remakes.” “Well, that does look rather spot on.” A Panrahk replied, gazing at the Rahkshi Stars. “Let’s open them.” “Ugh... there’s twenty-seven.” Tahu Mistika groaned. “This isn’t going to be fun.” “Relax.” The Panrahk assured him. “We Rahkshi will handle it.” “What’s the black one?” Tahu Mata asked, approaching. “Skrall Stars.” Kazi told him. A cheer went up from the Skrall sets from the winter of 2009. One ran over. “Hey!” it exclaimed. “This isn’t right! These Skrall are black and green! Only Tuma is black and green!” A groan went up from the Skrall sets from the winter of 2009. The Skrall ran back over. “Toa Hordika! You, the Visorak, and the Vahki can build the Skrall Stars.” Tahu Mata ordered. “Yes.” Nuju Hordika grinned. “We get to build some of the last sets!” “There’s a blue one!” Kazi called. “It’s called... Piraka Stars.” “Awesome!” Vezok grinned. “Wait... why is it named after the line?” Kazi shrugged. “I dunno. But it looks individual; there’s only one.” Vezok glanced at the canister. “Oh, that’s Nektann.” He told them. “Wonder why his canister doesn’t have a name?” Vezok shrugged and carried the canister over to Zaktan and Avak. The other three piraka ran over to join in. “The white one is... a Takanuva Stars.” Kazi called. Both Takanuva and Takanuva Mistika rushed over. Both paused. “Why does he look like a toa of ice?” Takanuva Mistika asked. “Yeah.” Takanuva replied. “He should be white and gold, or at the very least, white and gunmetal.” “Just build him.” Ackar said wearily. “The green one?” Tahu Mata asked as several Rahkshi Stars and Skrall Stars stood and began glancing around. “Gresh Stars.” Kazi answered. Lewa, Matau, and Lesovikk snapped their fingers, muttering. Gresh rolled his eyes and stepped forward. “What the heck?!” he exclaimed. “My weapon is silver! That stinks! And so does my all lime green helmet! Ugh....” And with that, the jungle Glatorian sat down and began to build. “The red one?” Tahu Mata asked. Kazi glanced in, and then paused. “Kazi?” Tahu Mata prompted. “Yeah... um... it’s you.” He stammered. “What do you mean?” Tahu Mata asked. Kazi turned the canister and showed him. “Looks like after a decade, you’re gonna face a challenge for your leadership.” Nuparu Inika pointed out. “Yeah.” To Be Continued....

  19. Look, an unevolved dork bug. As per usual, this is a pre-evolution and pre-mutation, G1 Makuta design. I thought this would take the least time to finish but I got stuck on his face, and then Undertale and Gravity Falls happened in my life. And some graduation film progress. You should have seen my first attempt on his face (not the mask, jus the face). Next Makuta up, Spiriah. As always comments, and CC are welcome and make me happy! =) The fragmented shall pierce the Veil, the fragmented shall see the End. 01010100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100110 01110010 01100001 01100111 01101101 01100101 01101110 01110100 01100101 01100100 00100000 01110011 01101000 01100001 01101100 01101100 00100000 01110000 01101001 01100101 01110010 01100011 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01010110 01100101 01101001 01101100 00101100 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100110 01110010 01100001 01100111 01101101 01100101 01101110 01110100 01100101 01100100 00100000 01110011 01101000 01100001 01101100 01101100 00100000 01110011 01100101 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01000101 01101110 01100100 00101110
  20. When I Think of stories made by BZP members, stories of self-Insertion comes to mind, where storytellers usually ask themselves, "What would I be doing as a resident of the matoran universe?" Now, A fun thing to think about is what YOU Would do in the Toa Empire Reality.
  21. What moments did you want/want to see in both generations of bionicle? In G1, I wanted to see a serial about the matoran looking for the toa that would guard their villages. e.g. Onu-Matoran searching for Onua. As for G2, I'd like to witness the return of the rahkshi if the story team & set designers are willing to reintroduce a G1 villain.
  22. Is it possible to make a Tohunga sit on an Ussal without modifying either set? Or do the sets have to be redesigned?
  23. Several questions for you, whoever you are, who happens to have chosen to browse this very blog entry. I'm referring to you, in case you haven't noticed yet. Worst line in G1 BIONICLE? Worst character(s)? Worst year? Worst set? Worst wave of sets? Worst serial? Worst idea? Worst thing-of-your-choosing?
  24. Meet the original boss of the Brotherhood. Following the pattern, this is a pre-evolution rendition of a G1 Makuta, and very likely before Teridax's betrayal. Miserix was actually a real challenge design wise, had to go through several silhouettes before settling at one that still felt buff enough, but wouldn't be TOO top-heavy. His Kanohi needed some heavy figuring out too. Obviously he is the most removed from his original cannon look (x 40ft/12m tall dragon). I tried to go for something more sage like but still make him look like he could snap a Toa in half with his bare hands. I'm not sure if the Brotherhood would actually use any kind of formal wear or anything that would differentiate their leader, but I'm sure Miserix would go for something simple. And I definitely remember somewhere that Greg stated Miserix didn't liked showy stuff? At least that was one of the reasons for shifting the winning MOC design's colour scheme from red to greenish. (???) Though that info might be off. Next Makuta up, Bitil. As always comments, and CC are welcome and make me happy! =) Feed me your comments...
  25. G1 Artakha ----------------------------------------- "The world began to blur in front of Tuyet's eyes. At first, she thought that Helryx must be choking the life from her. But then she realized that everyone was looking toward the chamber's entrance, where space itself seemed to be warping. The next instant, a massive figure stepped out of the distortion and stood before them. "You... imbeciles," the figure said, in a voice both old and young at the same time. "You ignorant stone apes... is this how you try to save existence?" No one in the room had ever seen the newcomer before. But there were some who knew his voice, and all felt a chill of fear at the sound of it. Only Helryx had the presence of mind to give their visitor a name, and even she spoke it in a whisper. "Artakha."" -Reign of Shadows, Chapter 9 ----------------------------------------- Hello everyone, Ever since Artakha's arrival in Reign of Shadows, I was enamored with his appearance in the online serial, and subsequently disappointed when BIONICLE ended in 2010 without giving him an official set. This year's reboot is all we could have asked for and more, however, with the Mask of Creation finally having an official appearance along with the return of our favorite six heroes. (Lewa never ceases to amuse us with his antics.) Of all the characters in the G1 Universe, I feel that in addition to being a cool character, Artakha (and his mask) represented the BZP Community as a whole - people who create and are creative in nature, at least in the vein of LEGO's awesome toys. I became determined to build Artakha at the beginning of the year, but didn't have the chance until now due to being away from home for college. It's been a long time since I last created a MOC; my previous MOC (and the first I posted to BZP) was made some six years ago for LEGO's Glatorian contest. Anyway, pictures... His known armor color is supposed to be gray-green, which I would have liked to use, but the only sand green BIONICLE parts that exist in popular previous sets are Zaktan's limbs; I tried to make do with a mix of grays, Metru/dark green, black, and silver. Parts-wise, other than the MoCr, I wanted to make use of the new "skull armor" add-on - Artakha is described as having intricate patterns on his armor, which the skull armor add-on has, but still looks usable on things other than bony skeletons. With his build, I wanted to give him the "tall, imposing figure" he's described as having, even though I felt that the Mask of Creation might be a tad small for larger MOCs. His build has references to certain Titan sets; you'll probably recognize them if you own those sets yourselves. He has thirty points of articulation total, eighteen of them being in his torso/ shoulder and hip armor, and twelve in his limbs. Hammer Pose http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RuukaRiou/Bionicle/G1-Artakha/img_0285.jpg With the hammer, I wanted to reference both Ekimu's rapid shooter Hammer of Power and the warhammer belonging to Tom Dracone's official MOC of Alternate Teridax, while still resembling an actual hammer tool. It's kinda big for a forge tool, but it looks the part nonetheless. (Let's all pretend he decided to carry around that one over-sized hammer that he never uses...) While I feel I did my best capturing Artakha's appearance, I feel obligated to self-critique. His feet are big, his hands and maybe his waist are small, and his thighs are rather bare. Some might consider his color scheme to be all over the place, and due to his foot design, he's also incredibly unsteady, though I feel I'd be able to fix this if I had more of the right parts. Overall, however, I'm satisfied with the result. Full Gallery http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=558434
