Way way way back (like two years) an AFOL made a Kickstarter project for LEGO trading cards, called STUDS, to showcase various renowned builders in the fandom and their MOCs, among other aspects like conventions, publications, and achievements. Through a few LEGO conventions I was able to collect a handful of cards from people who had contributed early and had their own card(s) or packs to sell. Fun stuff! They finally made them available to the public and I eagerly ordered some (splitting shipping costs with a LUG friend and 55555). With some luck and a bit of trading I've got some cool stuff: On the back of the cards is a short bio of the creator/thing. My favorite is Paul Lee's LEGO Avengers card, which I'm showing off in the middle of a sheet. I also obtained 4 of Nathan Sawaya's cards. I've had a few things like Cajun's card and Norbert's card. After getting lucky and getting a signed card (by Bram Lambrecht, who I think was at BrickFest '06), I realized there were quite a few here I should have had signed when I first received them. Oh well. Some of these are just plain cool (Cole Blaq's Dragon, Mark Borlase's Hoth), some of them are from people I know personally (Dan Rubin's mech and Cajun's HR Giger), some I've met briefly (like meeting Megan Rothrock at NYCC for her LEGO Adventure Book we have at work), and others for other reasons either IRL or online. My goal is to put these on my wall like a poster to show off some cool LEGO art. (And I've got a few I'm still willing to trade, mostly in those last two pictures.) I'm quite happy with these additions to my LEGO collection. -CF (PS, Arpy is hidden in one of these cards!)

Just saw someone in another topic complain about "cheap Chinese plastic" being responsible for certain minifigure parts fluorescing under a blacklight, and it got me in rant mode. But since it'd be wildly off-topic there, I'm posting it here in my blog:

Hi all! I want show you my just-for-fun vid, that I created this evening. It's kinda trailer (sorry for russian speech) of "Bionicle: Mask of Light". FS:LEGO No.10245 Santa's Workshop With Lighting Kits

Lite up block releases new Lego 10245 Santa's Workshop with lighting kits at affordable price for all Lego lovers. -
This is something I've been thinking about ever since I saw a review for the First Order Threepio figure. I was very impressed with the amount of detail put into the figure, but I started to think: is this too detailed? Is it less of a minifigure and more... something else? Looking through recent sets, I've seen the frequent use of smooth slope pieces to get better shapes. Now that's cool and all, but sometimes sets feel less like Lego and more like a scale replica. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everything needs to be 2x4s, but I do feel that there is a line Lego has started to wander on the wrong side of. So what are your thoughts? Should things be a bit simpler? Should they continue to make things smoother and add more printing to figures? Or something else?

Hey guys It's Gwideon here. Today I'm going to give you instructions on how to build one of the mech models I recently posted so let's get started. these are the pieces you'll need for this creation Start with a wide shouldered ccbs torso Put a Inika upper leg on each inner shoulder ball joint attach a hf 1.0 torso to the inika upper legs. now fold it up against the ccbs torso now grab a inika hand stick a 3 hole axle though it Now stick a axle connector on one end and a ball joint on the other Now put two 90 degree axle things on to the sides now put a axle connector on to each of the side pieces now connect the mini fig carriage that you just made to the chest ball joint on the ccbs torso now you need to get armor that will cover the two side connectors. in this example I used black stars feet connected to inika hands. Now attach it Now attach a 3 shell to the ball joint on the minifig carriage Now lets begin the neck. you will need the joint piece shown above Now attach a inika hand to the joint shown above now attach the neck to the ccbs neck ball joint Now attach a 2015 mask to the inika hand. any 2015 mask except onua's will do. now on to the arm build. really any arms will do. now attach the arms Now do the legs. Any leg build will do Now attach the legs now attach a inika hand to the hf 1.0 neck joint Now build the weapon. attach it and boom your done now this was my first time doing instructions so tell me how I did and if you want to post what you made with this build in the comments. Thanks for reading. Feel free to comment and stay awesome.

What's Bionicle about? People run around islands, collecting things to fight evil. What's Pokemon about? People run around islands, collecting things to fight evil.

What do you guys think were the best LEGO themes? Personally, I think that Agents (2008) Power Miners, and Exo-Force were great because of their originality and play value.

So, there's this book called Lego: A Love Story, and apparently on page 53, my BZP user account is referenced. How do I know this? Because its literally the tenth result if you google "bzpower zarkan." Has anyone read this book, and if so, can someone tell me why exactly a random lego book ended up referencing me without my knowledge.

Hey guys it's me Gwideon and I have a couple of mocs for you today so let's begin. Ok let's start with some backstory behind these mocs. When makuta teridax was killed a small group of surviving makuta took to the stars and found earth. they where giants among mice and the humans had no way to stop them and soon humanity was enslaved. After about a year of enslavement a rebellion rose up and these mechs where constructed to combat the makuta. Mech A This one is my favorite of the rwo. both use the same build but I feel this one has better armor and a more consistent color scheme. front view side view back view here's a look at the pilot. here's a look at the mechs insides Mech B front view Side view back view look at the pilot Open view thanks for reading. Feel free to comment and stay awesome

Dear Lego, Droids from the Star Wars universe fascinate me. Especially the obscure ones that no one remembers. No one except me. So, unless you want to lose an extremely small percent of your sales, you would be wise to release both CCBS builds and minifigures for C-3PX and I-5YQ before the decade is out. Get on it, Bonkle

Hello! This MOC is a remake of my old self-MOC - Onu-Matoran Fert. You can read full description on Flickr, if you want (photos are clickable). Any comments are welcome!

This is sort of an odd topic, but it's something that interests me. So obviously all LEGO pieces have their official names, and some have commonly used fan names. But are there any names you use for certain pieces? For example, I refer to the "Agori Head" as the "Hero Factory Head" because it was used on 1.0 Heroes which I knew about before Bara Magna. The same goes for "Bohrok eyes", I call them "Trifighter eyes", because I got the Star Wars trifighter set before I knew of the Bohrok.

So. Everyone seems to enjoy the Bionicle jokes topic I started, so I figured, what the heck, I'll make one for everything that isn't Bionicle, Hero Factory, Chima, or Ninjago. Why were the Zotaxians understaffed? Their data plan only allowed for one Gigabot.

Earlier I replied to a post in S&T about Bionicle G1 and G2 being connected, despite Lego saying it's a reboot. That point has been refuted a thousand times, but it got me thinking about the big problem with those sorts of theories in the first place. In science, one of the essential qualities that a theory can have is that it's falsifiable. What that means is that the theory is constructed in such a way that it can be proven demonstrably false by new evidence. Falsifiability is an essential part of science, and a big part of what separates it from pseudoscience, religion, and superstition. Obviously Bionicle fan theories are a great deal different from scientific theories. But I can't help but think that falsifiability should still be somewhat of a priority. If nothing (not even direct and explicit contradictory statements) can disprove your theory, than how is it even worth discussing? As an example, I can "theorize" that Matoran in G1 can reproduce like humans. Sure, Greg has stated the exact opposite numerous times. But he could have just been lying. Unless you're willing to accept evidence at face value, you can literally claim ANYTHING about the Bionicle story or characters and never be proven wrong. Vakama never betrayed the Toa Hordika because Web of Shadows wasn't canon! Mata Nui wasn't actually a giant robot, because the events of 2008 through 2010 never actually happened! All these theories and more are valid if there is no longer a single standard of evidence that can be taken as authoritative. P.S.: I don't want this to seem like I'm condemning headcanon. Just because the official story happens one way doesn't mean you're not allowed to reinterpret it, or pick and choose the parts you like! But for a fandom to function, there has to be some shared frame of reference that defines how a story or franchise is experienced. Headcanons won't necessarily make sense to someone who hasn't experienced the actual story and characters and doesn't understand where the headcanon diverges from that. That's the importance of canon—it defines and categorizes the official story as it was initially presented, so as to foster a shared understanding of the story among the fandom at large.

Which season of LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu do you think had the best premiere, and which do you think had the best finale? Personally, I feel like my favorite season premiere was probably "The Invitation" from Season 4, and my favorite season finale is still "Day of the Great Devourer" from Season 1. EDIT: Added a poll.

I finally got my signed Gali poster back from the framer! I won this at the BrickFair VA 2015 live charity auction. It's signed by the artist (and designer of the Gali: Master of Water set) Matt Betteker. I knew I wanted to preserve it in as pristine a condition as possible, so I ended up spending more to frame it than I spent on the poster itself. But it ended up looking fantastic, and I'm eager to find a place to display it.

Baltimore Comic Con is coming this weekend, and I am getting more and more pumped with anticipation with each day! On Friday I'll be hanging out with 55555, and on Saturday I'll be going solo unless a friend actually replies to my texts. There are plenty of exciting panels happening, so it's just a matter of if I can get in to see the awesome comic creators talk. So I guess it's a matter of getting in line in time. There's a talk about the 90s X-Men series New Mutants, one about comics as myths and working mythology into your story, Mark Waid talking about writing great characters, a spotlight on Waid and Charles Soule, looking at the science behind superheroes and their powers, and more! I also hope to get a handful of comics autographed by some favorite creators, like Mark Waid, Scott Snyder, and Charles Soule: That's five issues by Charles Soule, two by Greg Pak, two by Scott Snyder, two by Mark Waid including my Kingdom Come graphic novel, and a few others by some more cool comic creators. And eventually I'll get some of these signed works of art framed. I'm hoping to get some cool works of art in Artists Alley too. So we'll see what happens by the end of the weekend. And I'll be back in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. A beautiful part of the city! If you're going too, drop me a message! -CF

I've had a BrickLink account for quite some time, and a BrickLink store for a few years too, but now I can confidently say I have an intriguing amount of parts to make something of it. Not like huge, just a respectable size for my needs and parts. So please, check out Chocolate Froggy Pieces and buy buy buy! I've just added some Bionicle parts there and hope to add some more System parts soon. And I've recently put in some Star Wars figs that are marked as NEW--heck, I still haven't taken them out of the sets yet. They're that fresh. Tell me promo code "BZP2015" when you check out and I'll take off 10% on all orders through the end of the year. Happy shopping! -CF

Hello everyone. I've been looking at minifigures recently, and I spotted something that's really bugging me. In 2001 and 2002, Agents Flex and Charge have their own signature faces. However, in 2004, the general concepts of the faces were kept, but redesigned, and seemingly switched between the two. Was there ever any explanation for this?

So I've been slowly touching up a few of the MOCs that have been collecting dust on my shelf, and there's been a problem with one that I can't seem to fix. PICTURE I've been stuck on how to armor the forearm in a way that's not too obtrusive but still covers it. Most ways that I've tried either stick out too much or aren't white (which is the color scheme of the MOC in question). So I'm looking for suggestions. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
