A New Metroid Game is Upon Us
Toa Smoke Monster posted a blog entry in The IslandIt's been a long time since fans of the Metroid series have gotten a new game in this franchise. That ends this month with the release of Metroid Prime: Federation Force. It's hard to believe that we are actually just a couple weeks away from its release. It still feels like its months away to me. I really hope the game is good. I know that there are some fans who think that this game will be bad, and they could be right. But I'm going to play it myself and make my own judgments on it. For all we know, it could be one of the best entries into the Metroid series. I guess we'll find that out when the game is released August 19.
Voltex posted a topic in Games & Trivia(this game has been approved by Windrider. Let’s not make her regret it) The Goal of the game is simple enough. This game is designed to be exactly what it says - an activity boost! You see, here’s the deal: every single day on BZPower, members are posting artwork, writing stories, over-thinking theories, hosting games, building creations, wishing each other happy birthday… and then that’s it. Members will post to share the thoughts, maybe you’ll get a few upvotes, perhaps even get featured on the front page. But outside of that, how often do you find yourself inspired? This game turns your activity on BZPower into a game - a competition, one with its own rewards. The goal is to amass as many points as possible; posting certain things will earn you more points than others. A full list of what is eligible for points is included below - anything not included on the list does not qualify. In order to earn points, you must (obviously) post whatever it is you have made - and you must then make another post in this topic, linking to it. All players are responsible for keeping track of their own point total, as well as for being accurate with it. There is a catch. In a manner of speaking, that is - by which I mean that this game is not meant to spawn the creation of endless spam. Anything that is posted on BZPower for the purposes of winning this game that constitutes spam, or breaks any other BZPower rules, will cause a strike against this game. If you know about baseball, then you know that at three strikes, your team is out. If three things are posted (and then linked to in this topic for points) that break BZPower rules, I shall shut down this game - assuming that a staff member does not catch the issue before me and shut it down themselves. Also: only stuff posted after MARCH 17, 2015 counts towards this game. Nothing released or posted before. Moving back to the fun stuff, here is what you may post: THE STUFF THAT GETS YOU POINTS Worth 15 Points Host a Bionicle or OTC RPG Release a Fan-Made Game (like Project MNOG 3D) Worth 10 Points Host a LEGO RPG Worth 8 Points Create a Bionicle or Lego Stop-Motion Video Worth 7 Points Create a Sprite Kit FINISH Releasing an Epic FINISH Releasing a Multi-Part Comedy FINISH Releasing a Multi-Part Comic Worth 6 Points Host a Game in Games & Trivia or OTC Worth 5 Points Post a piece of Artwork Post an MOC Post a Short Story in OTC or Short Stories Post a oneshot Comedy in OTC or Comedies Post a oneshot Comic Worth 4 Points START Releasing an Epic in OTC or Epics START Releasing a Multi-Part Comedy in OTC or Comedies START Releasing a Multi-Part Comic Be Cited as a BZPower news source Worth 3 Points Work with 1 or More other members on a Creative Work Post a theory in Storyline & Theories Post a Birthday Topic for a staff member Worth 2 Points Start a BZPower Blog Post a Birthday Topic for another member Review a Creative Work on BZPower Bring an Issue to the Staff’s attention with the Tracker Create a Quiz Refer a New Member Join a game in Games & Trivia or OTC Join a Bionicle, Lego, or OTC RPG THE STUFF THAT POINTS WIN YOU A quick note here: if you reach one of these, you might need to PM me with a link to the post containing your total amount of points, otherwise I might miss it. For now it is just the two rewards - once people start surpassing 100 points, I’ll add more. 100 Points I will write a three chapter Multi-Part Comedy or Epic starring YOU as the main character. I will work with you to shape the overall story, as well as the personality of your character. I’ll also whip up a nice little banner for the story as well, just to advertise it. 50 Points I will write a Short Story or Comedy oneshot starring YOU as the main character! I’ll work with you to shape the overall story, as well as the personality of your character. One final warning before we begin. I will remind you all that posting spam or breaking the rules of BZPower in any way so that you can increase your number of points for this game will not be tolerated. Three strikes and you’re out - so let’s keep it at zero. Now go play! (Have any questions? Feel free to ask!)
Thoughts on Smash Brothers So Far
Kaleidoscope Tekulo posted a blog entry in This is my lawnSo, our first full day of vacation is looking slow. Basically I am here with my parents and two of our family friends. I am the only person here under age 50 (Until Akano, KK and Friend: Toa of Friendship get here) Anyway, after thirteen hours in a car on the way down here, and my getting of Super Smash Bros 3D in the mail the day before we left, I have had time to play. All of the characters are unlocked and there is a myriad of unique and interesting fighters to choose from... Too bad I've only been playing as Avatar Korra, Bolin, Asami, Mako, Nigel Thornberry and Duck from Princess Tutu. The Mii fighters might just be the best thing ever. Okay, it takes a while to figure them out, but customizing characters to be offensive, defensive, speedy or mixed is really cool. Defeating Master Hand as Asami is an incredible feeling. Playing as Korra while kicking Mako into oblivion is sooo satisfying. Having Asami uppercut Mako is equally as satisfying. Bolin is still adorable. Having Duck in a princess brawl with Zelda, Peach and Rosalina is also entertaining, especially since I gave her all of the defense I could and made her a cybernetic swordswoman. (Seriously, it is so out of character that my love meter has been maxed). If anyone is interested in any of these guys, let me know and I'll post an entry with screenshots and a detailed report of their special moves. MUAHAHAHAHA! ~Melon Lord
Steal the Mask 3
Onaku posted a topic in Games & TriviaNote to newcomers: Read the post before you so that you don't accidentally contradict it with your post. This game isn't meant to be too serious or rigorous, but some general coherence of events would be nice. With the coming and passing of Steal the Mask 2, it is now time for the third incarnation to take its place. Due to complications regarding a developing storyline in StM2, the game became hard to access for players that hadn't been following along. Thus, I have this time decided to introduce a few additional rules that should hopefully keep the game on track. Rules from the original game: And now, the additional rules: Rule 1: You must steal the mask in your post. No "I decide to not take the mask from you. Not my mask" or anything like that. This is steal the mask, and either you steal it, or you don't post here at all. Note: Giving the mask to someone else after stealing it is completely acceptable, but you have to steal it from the previous owner first. Edit: You are allowed to write a third person post about some other entity stealing the mask than you, which exempts you from personally stealing the mask. Rule 2: If you are building up to something, make sure that it's only a few posts, and that it doesn't become vital later on in the game. If you intend to build up to your eventual stealing of the mask, refer to rule 1. Rule 3: Keep it simple. Sure, it's nice to once in a while to get a cleverly written post with some intricate actions, but do try to keep those small non-the-less. No massive, multi-paragraph walls of text on a common basis, please, and if that is done, it would be courteous to include a brief tl;dr at the bottom. If you really need a specified location for reference, just think of it as Spherus-Magna. This game is moving through so many locations so rapidly that specifying a single location has become meaningless. Aside from that, everything goes. Have fun, all of you. Well then... My mask!
Voltex posted a topic in Games & TriviaBack in 2009, a member named Zeero first hosted a game called The BZPower Challenge. It was popular enough to garner two sequels, although the third never really got started. It was one of the more unique games in the forum, but the likes of it have not been seen since – as a result, I have decided to try and revive the concept. How it Works: After all the spots have been filled, the game will begin with a “Round Zero”, in which a series of trivia questions based upon various LEGO properties or BZPower itself will be asked. The first player to answer a question correctly will receive two points; the first two players to reach 30 points will be declared as Captains. The Captains will then pick the remaining players to form two teams via a group pm with myself, choosing one at a time; the player who reached 30 points first will also begin drafting first. Once the teams are decided, the game will begin in full with team-based challenges beginning in Round 1. Each round, I will judge the results of the challenge and decide a winner – the losing team will then be forced to vote out one of the other players from their team, eliminating them from the game. At a certain point in the game, both teams will be dissolved and the game will become a free for all. After this, the final player to complete each task will be eliminated from the game. Once it is down to the final two players, the eliminated players will return to vote upon the winner. Rules: 1 – No contacting me about the game anywhere except for in this topic, unless otherwise stated. 2 – Twists may be used in the game not described in this first post – that is because they are a surprise! 3 – Feel free to ask any questions here. 4 – Other BZP rules apply. Round Winners Round 0: Toa Kayn & Malignus Round 1: Metru-Nui Magikarp Masters Round 2: Nostalgic Kaita Round 3: Nostalgic Kaita Round 4: [New Teams] [The Twist] [Eliminations] Round 5: NK Nuva Round 6: NK Nuva Round 7: Blade Round 8: Blade Round 9: fishers64 Round 10: The Players 1 – fishers64 [Nostalgic Kaita; NK Nuva; Individual] 2 – Blade [Metru-Nui Magikarp Masters; N K Nuva; Individual] Eliminated Players 3rd – Kayn (Eliminated, R.9) [Nostalgic Kaita (Captain); NK Nuva; Individual] 4th - Voxumo (Eliminated, R.8) [Nostalgic Kaita; NK Nuva (Captain); Individual] 5th - Luroka (Eliminated, R.7) [Metru-Nui Magikarp Masters (Captain); MMM Nuva; Individual] 6th - Lhikevikk (Eliminated, R.6) [Nostalgic Kaita; MMM Nuva (Captain)] 7th – Oryx (Eliminated, R.5) [Nostalgic Kaita; MMM Nuva] 8th – Commander Viral (Eliminated, R.4) [Metru-Nui Magikarp Masters; MMM Nuva] 9th - Burnmad (Eliminated, R.4) [Metru-Nui Magikarp Masters; NK Nuva] 10th - Aurora (Eliminated, R.3) [Metru-Nui Magikarp Masters] 11th - Tahukan (Eliminated, R.2) [Metru-Nui Magikarp Masters] 12th - Punished Snake (Eliminated, R.1) [Nostalgic Kaita] Please ask any questions you might have immediately! (The challenges for each round will be revealed on a per-round basis)
