1. My first Bionicle written story; it chronicles the story of a team of toa from an island near to Metru Nui, all constructive feedback is appreciated! you can read it here: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/25027-hunters/
2. In my last entry, I shared my first two BIONICLE 2015 set reviews for The New Elementary. Now, I can share the third and final (for now, at least). Check out my review of 70778 Protector of Jungle, 70780 Protector of Water, and 70781 Protector of Earth right here! In addition, I've managed to draw something I'm really proud of for the first time in months! Check out my drawing of Gali - Master of Water right here in the General Art subforum! I'd love to draw some other BIONICLE characters, including maybe one of the Protectors I got, though I might want to wait to see if we learn anything more about their individual personalities in case that might inspire a particularly fitting pose.
3. Two of my BIONICLE 2015 set reviews for The New Elementary have now been posted, with a third still forthcoming. I received six BIONICLE sets from the LEGO Group to review for that site: three Toa and three Protectors. Check out my review of 70788 Kopaka - Master of Ice right here! Check out my review of 70784 Lewa - Master of Jungle and 70786 Gali - Master of Water here! And finally, because I was lucky enough to receive these three particular Toa, you can see my attempt at building a 2015 version of Toa Kaita Wairuha right here! What's more, I recently finished writing an article on the BIONICLE theme's triumphant review for Blocks, a British-based magazine for the LEGO fan community! I believe it will be appearing in the January 2015 issue of the magazine. I am thrilled to have had this opportunity to own, build, and play with these new BIONICLE sets, and for the opportunity to share that experience with the LEGO fan community! My hope is that the articles I've been writing will not only inform BIONICLE fans about the new sets, but also perhaps educate other LEGO fans about just what it is that makes the BIONICLE theme and its return such a big deal for so many people.
4. Presentation From the design of the box to the instruction manual, these are the first things you see before building the set. The box for The End is an obsidian block. I was at first confused by this, as I usually associate obsidian with going to the Nether and expected an end stone block instead. But then I remembered there's all those obsidian towers in The End and it's just a more recognizable block overall, so I guess it does make sense. Either way it still looks cool and is another neat design to have lined up on a shelf with the other boxes. Inside the box are two instruction booklets, a handy brick separator, and five bags of parts. Building Half the fun is had building the set. How fun is it to build and how easy or challenging is it? The End sees a somewhat disappointing return to the norm for the Minecraft Micro World sets that The Nether temporarily broke. It is a standard build of creating an underground portion on a plate, a little bit of aboveground scenery on a plate, stacking them, and repeating four times. It's really rather disappointing, made worse by the fact that The End's really just a boring place. It should truthfully all be in just one color to truly replicate end stone, which is all that there is in that dimension, but fortunately the designers thought to break that up by introducing other shades amongst the bricks. I am more than okay with this because it makes it slightly less boring - but only slightly. On only the second portion, I had tired already of such an incredibly repetitive build. All the other micro world sets varied in many ways what was going on both above and below ground, but The End does not even remotely do so (not that the source allowed that, granted). But you what to know what's the worst part of all during the entire build? How scattered the pieces are amongst the bags! Some are available in relatively extremely low quantities, like those to the Ender Dragon and Endermen. Finding them, which is supposed to be done first according to the instructions, was a genuine pain. One would think that because so many pieces in the exact same tan color that finding anything else would be easy, but it was quite the opposite. Set Design Now that the set is complete, we can critique how it looks from every angle. New or interesting pieces can also be examined here Remember before how I've complained about wanting more of the mobs out of these micro world sets? Well, The End at least fixed that. We get four Endermen, who I find to be a generally cool design and as expected feature unique printed pieces to replicate their eyes. The only downside I really see to them is that they can't turn their heads and have their arms raised, but that's the kind of sacrifices expected at such a small scale. The Ender Dragon is really cool. The only thing really keeping it from being perfect in my eyes is the lack of a mouth. A wide, gaping jaw is just something any dragon needs. The main island is, as I've said, quite boring. I'm glad that some color variance was introduced into the end stone to add something to look at, but… Well, The End was always a bit of a disappointment when it comes to cool factor, so it wouldn't be fair to blame the designers here of course. They did recreate the island pretty faithfully in the 3D world. The top of The End at least has some interesting things to look at. A big End Portal takes up a quarter of the area, complete with a dragon egg. Which is a bit contradictory since this shouldn't appear if the dragon's still around... oh well. It still looks nice. Dotted all around are the obsidian towers, and they even have Ender Crystals on top! These are my favorite part. Literally. I have never seen these smooth round plates before, but I do love them. And the translucent purple color they're cast in is gorgeous. Playability The other half of the fun is in playing with the set. How well does the set function and is it enjoyable to play with? What may come as a bit of a surprise for the micro world line, The End actually has a degree of playability! The Ender Dragon has articulated wings and an articulated neck, so you can mix up how it looks. Plus it's a dragon. Everyone wants to whoosh a dragon around in the air. The Endermen can also kind of do things. You can slide a brick in-between their arms to emulate them stealing a block, but of course they do slide out easily. Because of how they're designed, you cannot plug a plate in sideways either, so all you can do is wedge them. As for the rest of The End... Eh. If you have a Steve from the original CuusooIdeas set, I suppose you could have him exploring or mining. But nobody seriously does that in Minecraft proper because, yes, it is boring. Final Thoughts Once it's all said and done, how does the set stack up? Should I get it? Pros What's to like? Plentiful mobsEnder Dragon is a fun buildMore beautiful trans purpleCons What's not to like? Boring to look atBuild is far too repetitiveJust boring(Yay giant mini mob army!) So it seems my predication way back when The Village and The Nether first came out of The End being next came true. Unfortunately, I also completely called how utterly boring a set devoted to just it would be. That's the real shame here. No, there wasn't much they could have done with just The End itself. It's an uninspired place even within the Minecraft game, and this set does recapture it to a fault. As a standalone set, I advise passing, and even for those who got the others, it might be a questionable buy. Perhaps it is best that the future of Minecraft LEGO lies in the minifig scale, which already looks like it will be having some pretty unique and varied sets. I still love these micro world sets for the little diorama pieces that they are (and would still buy additional biomes for sure). The End certainly delivers there. It's just a disappointing sendoff, if that is what it really is.
5. (Note: This is a repost of a lost review, so some content is out-of-date.) Presentation From the design of the box to the instruction manual, these are the first things you see before building the set. So The Nether box is a lava block. It's awfully fitting and looks pretty cool lined up with the others. Just like The Village, there is no reference to Cuusoo anywhere. Inside the box we've got the standard two instruction booklets and brick separator, as well as five bags of parts. (I accidentally deleted the picture of the bag sandwich soooo whoops.) Building Half the fun is had building the set. How fun is it to build and how easy or challenging is it? So after just two sets, there's already a standard build to be expected in the Minecraft line, what with that same build being repeated four times in each set. Build a cave segment on a larger plate, build a bit of aboveground scenery on another plate, and cap the cave with it. Then we get to The Nether. This set breaks the mold and I love it. Yes, everything's still built on a large plate, but you need a base, and of course most everything's still tiles and plates. The similarities stop there. The segments of The Nether are not tiered, so already it's a fun build at the start. After the third segment, though, you realize that yet again these four are pretty much identical to each other, and that's somewhat disappointing. Being different from the other two sets still helps a lot. Also, how they pulled off the Ghasts was genius. They're built upside down to get the slanted pieces to act as tentacles and it is pretty cool. Set Design Now that the set is complete, we can critique how it looks from every angle. New or interesting pieces can also be examined here Unique to The Nether we have the three printed blocks for the mobs. Because they're all larger bricks, that does mean we don't get extras to make more of our own mobs, like we could with the ones made with tiles. That's a big shame, but really just for the Pigman. Having two Ghasts is already an improvement compared to any other mob, but I'd probably have dropped one for a Blaze to get some more diversity. And that portal… It's beautiful. I love this transparent purple so much. As for The Nether itself… More properly, this set should have been called Nether Fortress. That's not a bad thing, that's just what it is: a fortress. It does fairly accurately recreate how fortresses in the Nether usually are encased in the side of Netherrack mountains and I like it. Playability The other half of the fun is in playing with the set. How well does the set function and is it enjoyable to play with? Playing with this set is… annoying. While I really like the design choices of the Ghasts, it does make it nearly impossible to get them to stand as they just want to fall forward. If you can find a wall to lean them into or nestle into a hole, they work out, but otherwise good luck. There's also the fact that Ghasts are supposed to fly, but I think we can look past that here. Otherwise it’s just the standard fare of plopping down your mobs wherever you want, even bathing them lovingly in lava. Probably the best part of this whole set is the Nether portal and how you can just do whatever you want with it. Like throw the portal up in The Village and have the Pigman invade, with only Steve and his trusty pig to defend the realm. Because why not? Final Thoughts Once it's all said and done, how does the set stack up? Should I get it? Pros What's to like? Unique buildAwesome mobsBeautiful trans purpleCons What's not to like? Only one Nether portalHard to make the Ghasts standSo… We're growing our mob army quite nicely. If you're a Minecraft fan, you need this set. I'd say you need all of them, but really The Nether is a more essential piece than its sister set The Village. It's a unique build and a more iconic location in Minecraft. I'd also say it's more worth the price to me, which is still a little high, I'll admit. But it's at least still around, unlike the immediate sellout of the initial Cuusoo set, so hopefully it'll stay affordable for a little while. The Nether is also a very interesting inclusion in the line. I can only hope that next up we'll have The End, complete with Enderman and Ender Dragon (and ideally be half The End, since really that's kind of boring, and half fortress – now that would be a unique set). Really, any continuation of this new line will be welcomed here.
6. (Note: This is a repost of a lost review, so some content is out-of-date.) Presentation From the design of the box to the instruction manual, these are the first things you see before building the set. The design of the box should come as no surprise to those who have seen the original Minecraft set. But! This time, it's a wooden plank! It shows off the set and the micromobs and the back advertises LEGO Cu-… wait. It advertises the other two Minecraft sets? Cuusoo is mentioned nowhere in this set. So very much unlike its predecessor, Cuusoo #3 Minecraft, The Village and its sister set The Nether are one hundred percent their own line. The original is even retroactively added to it according to the instructions here, now labeled “The Forest.” Anyways, once you bring yourself to pop the box open, you'll be presented with two instruction booklets, a brick separator, and six bags of parts. Building Half the fun is had building the set. How fun is it to build and how easy or challenging is it? So you want to build The Village, huh? Better give yourself plenty of time, because although it's simple and straightforward, being entirely composed of tiles and plates means you've got a lot of pieces to sift through. Seriously, you'll be pulling from all six bags in some steps; placement for some parts seems pretty random and will take some digging. That said, the build also isn't anything exciting, especially if you've already built The Forest. It felt altogether far too similar, but I guess that should have been expected. Even if you haven't, after you've build one corner, you know what to expect with the other three. I did find piecing together the mineshaft elements and villager homes to be pretty fun though, and the couple of removable walls were unexpected. Set Design Now that the set is complete, we can critique how it looks from every angle. New or interesting pieces can also be examined here There are actually some new molds here! The 1x2 plate with 1 stud finally gets the mold change it always needed - you can actually plug in any stud underneath it now, not just the hollow ones. Besides that, there's plenty of awesome colors included, plenty of extra pieces, and of course the printed tiles for the mobs. Even on the original Steve, I thought they did a really good job with the mob face coming together on the sides of several tiles, and I still think so here. Although I must admit the zombie being two shades of green looks rather weird. The Village fits in really well with the established Minecraft microworld. There's not much more to it than that. It feels like it belongs and very much looks like the expansion it's meant to be. Playability The other half of the fun is in playing with the set. How well does the set function and is it enjoyable to play with? The Village looks pretty good, but much like the house built in The Forest, I'm very disappointed that the micromobs can't go inside. You can still make some nice dioramas, especially if you make use of the pretty cool mineshaft in the underground layer. We can also finally make use of the axle holes in The Forest without buying duplicate sets to expand our world: Final Thoughts Once it’s all said and done, how does the set stack up? Should I get it? Pros What’s to like? Tons of piecesTons of colorsMore Minecraft is always a good thing.Cons What’s not to like? The build is too similar to The Forest. We've got enough extra tiles to make extra mob heads, so why not just intentionally double them so we have bodies too?Seriously, I want two pigs. How can you not love that face?A big draw here is also building your own world. Now, I like my Minecraft vanilla - no mods here - so I'll be doing the same with my sets, since really I got them as display pieces. But for those of you with creative minds, you've got a plethora of options. It's also pretty cool to grow our overall number of mobs. I would love to complete the micromob collection and have some more unique biomes. When I learned of The Village and The Nether's existence, I was ecstatic. However, The Village really does fall short. Except for the mobs, it's just not adding much new. I could only recommend it for those seriously into the theme. Still, I hope The Village and The Nether sell well so we can get even more released in the brand new Minecraft line.

9. Hello, I'm Kung Fu Rahkshi Destroyer, here with something I like to call 'The Unscripted.' This is where I review...well, whatever I want, really. So, sit back and enjoy the show...story...thing...JUST READ IT ALREADY! Review the First: MLP:FiM ________________________________ "Now hold on a second here, My Little Pony?!" You may ask. "That silly toy for little girls? What on Earth is that doing here?! I wanted a grown up review of grown up stuff on a website that's a gathering place for fans of a toyline, why, back in MY day, arglesnargleshnorkypft!" Now, let me stop you right there. My little Pony: Friendship is Magic has very little to do with the toys of the 80's, or really any other version of My Little Pony. This show actually has good storylines, well developed characters, and a respect for the intelligence of the audience. "Impossible! You'd have to be girly and not a true man to enjoy something like that!" Well, actually- "You'd have to be incredibly stupid and a social misfit!" If you'd let me finish- "You'd have to have no friends and be horribly-" SHUUUUT UUUP!!! DO. I HAVE. YOUR. ATTENTION?! GOOD. Anyways, believe it or not, this version of My Little Pony is actually good, thanks to a woman named Lauren Faust. Lauren Faust had previously worked on a few different animated shows in the past, such as Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls. Her work with MLP began when she approached Hasbro with an idea for something called 'Galaxy Girls. 'Hasbro instead said, "Hey, Lauren, we like these ideas 'n stuff you are presentin' here wit the Galaxy and the Girls, but I have a different idea. What if we replaced 'Galaxy' wit 'My Little,' and then replaced 'Girls' wit 'Pony?'" And thus began My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. A large part of the show's development was fueled by Lauren's belief that shows for girls shouldn't have to be 'girly,' so to speak. They could be just as grown up and respectful as boy's shows, if not even more. Once the show was made, the final product was far removed from the awful girly pit of despair and fluff, and was actually respectable. Of course, the show would never have taken off if it weren't for the people of the internet and their desire to send a giant 'Screw You!' through to the heavens. What do I mean by that? Well, when the first episodes aired, a review of it that basically called it a low sellout was put online. This ticked off people who actually thought the show was pretty awesome, and the review was met with scathing comments, and really just made people like the show even more, followed by it sweeping across websites and becoming a major hit. (My story of discovering the show was also a giant 'Screw You!,' but that's another topic.) Anyways, now that we have the history of the show out of the way, let's talk about the show itself. The show takes place in Equestria, which I can only describe as what you would see if you read mythology and then hit up the Tylenol. I'm not kidding, everything mythological is here, and I mean EVERYTHING. They put in so much mythology that they even have TARTARUS in there. I mean granted, it's not actually seen, just talked about, but still! On top of that, they actually create their OWN mythology for the show too, so there's a lot going on here. The main inhabitants of this world are three types of magical ponies, Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi. Oh, and there are also some Alicorns in there, who are all princesses. I don't know why that is either, it's never really explained. The show focuses on Unicorn Twilight Sparkle and her friends as they learn about the magic of friendship, which is actually literal magic in this show, as evidenced in the Elements of Harmony, which are basically magic artifacts powered by friendship to create FREAKIN LASER BEAMS. The first two seasons are 26 episodes long each, and are generally your basic stuff that you would expect, like evil former rulers, Q from Star Trek, pop culture references, and topping it all off with a big two-parter involving a wedding and an invasion from shapeshifting bug-ponies that get defeated pretty much just like Team Rocket. These are notable for popularizing the show and managing to do a decent job of teaching lessons while handling subjects you might not expect on a kid's show. Then there was Season 3. Hoo boy. Season 3. In case you're wondering why I held off talking about this season, it's because this one has caused an EXTREME amount of controversy, fueled by rather unintelligent fans and leading to a broken fanbase. This season took the most chances, and not all of them work. For example, this season starts off with having to defend a Crystal Empire from a tyrant king that enslaved it's inhabitants before being turned into shadow and trapped in ice about a thousand years back. Of course, he's back and wants to do the same thing, except now he's an immensely large shadow monster. Oh, and it's implied that he killed off all the children in his reign. Charmed yet? A major complaint about this season is that it's too dark and strays away from the original idea of the show, as seen above. Yeah, that can be a problem. I mean, I certainly don't mind some darker and edgier material as long as it's done well. If it's done well, then it feels more mature and more respectful to it's audience. However, it's a very fine line, and if you don't balance correctly, it'll just come off as awkward and mean-spirited, and that is a problem with this season. Take Spike, for example. Spike is a dragon, and the assistant to Twilight Sparkle. He's also an orphan. And the main target for comedic suffering. Not a good combo there. Granted, they previously handled this pretty well in that he usually deserved what was coming to him, and it never really affected him that much. Then, in the third season, he started being picked on by the writers for really no good reason, and that does show. The third season seems to be trying to get away with as much as a kid's show can, like having Ponyville taken over and turned into the 'kid friendly' version of Nazi Germany, showing blood, (granted the blood was just a very tiny amount from accidental stabbing with a needle, but still more than most kid's programming can get away with) Chrysalis killing a kitten, and Tim Curry. (Yes, I know the last two are from the comics, but I still count them. There's still a lot of Nightmare Fuel from the episodes if you're that picky.) (Also, Optimus Prime was in the comics. What was up with that?) Another complaint is that they changed stuff, like reforming one of the fan favorite villains and turning Twilight into an Alicorn. This complaint holds very little ground with me, as they actually did these things well. Remember how Transformers was ruined forever when they changed something? Or how Bionicle totally sucked after they switched stuff around? No? THEN STOP YOUR COMPLAINING. SOME PEOPLE LIKE CHANGE. STOP SHOVING YOUR OPINION INTO OUR FACES. I'm going to have to end this review here, although you can expect me to go a lot more in-depth about the series in the future. I will say this before I go: watch MLP:FiM if you haven't already. You're free to like it or dislike it, but please just give it a fair judgement. I personally like it quite a bit. So, Arrivederci, and goodnight.
10. Hello, you Lego Fans. I've been getting a lot of requests about letting there be an Official Set Review Topic. I've decided to give that entire thing an amiss. We're gonna do something a little different here.We want to see review topics. Lots of 'em. We want to see new sets. We want to see old sets. We want to hear what you think about your favourite Lego sets. We want to hear what you don't like. Now before you go all post crazy, I want to lay down a couple of guidelines. Some rubrics for your topics, if you will. I want to see you craft no less than 200 of your best words into each review. There will be no "lol I think this spiderman set is pretty cool".Pictures! I want five quality pictures of the product you're reviewing. This surplus of 5000 words does not count towards the aforementioned 200 word limit.I would be supremely pleased if you could follow BZP's review format when posting. You can get yourself acquainted by reading this instant classic review.Hero Factory set reviews belong in the Hero Factory Discussion forum. Bionicle set reviews belong in the Bionicle Discussion forum. Everything else belongs here, in the LEGO Discussion forum. And as always, make sure you're following all of BZPs defacto rules like no spamming, keeping all your images under the 500kb rule (linking them if you can't), etc.I'm going to leave this topic open so you can ask questions, sing praise or tell me just what a terrible idea it is to let people post opinions just, like, everywhere man. ~Makaru
11. Welcome to the review topic of my latest short epic, Reluctant Allies. This story follows Ackar and Kiina as they are stranded in the Northern Frost during the Core War, forced to rely on each to survive, despite their lack of trust in each other. The epic itself is 6 chapters long. It's one of the shorter epics I've ever written, but I worked on it just as hard as I do with my longer works. Hopefully y'all will like it .As for what the Glatorian Chronicles is, here's the brief explanation from the story topic: You can read the epic itself right here.Comments, criticisms, reviews, etc. are all welcomed .-TNTOS-
12. Here you can review your own HFR model as well as let others comment on it. Do you think you HFR model has what it takes to go through a set review then review it here at LEGO HERO FACTORY RECON Set reviews topic. :rau: :rau: :pakarinu: :pakarinu: :pakari:
13. Credit to Chrome for the banner Welcome, one and all, to the newly revised and updated Short Stories Critics Club! However, there have been some changes made, so make sure to read this whole post before requesting a review! As many of you authors know, it is hard for someone to get a lot of reviews in the Library here on BZPower. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a lot of reviews. However, we hope to provide something better: One in-depth review by one of our very own critics that will help everyone grow as a writer. After all, everyone can always improve, no matter how good someone is. And that is precisely the reason this small handful of kind and helpful BZP members have come together: To help others become better writers. All you have to do is read this post and then post below using the correct format, and a review will be given! All authors must adhere to the Short Stories Forum Rules as outlined by the Forum Leader, Hahli Husky. Neither myself, nor any of the critics or co-curators are responsible for any short stories being closed because they violated one of BZPower's rules. Request limit ~ This depends on critic availability. We have a new system in place where as a request comes in, it is immediately assigned to an active critic. Critics will then have a week to complete the reviews. However, if all active critics are currently assigned to a story, then we will stop accepting requests until a critic has finished his or her request in order to make room for a new one. Check one of my most recent post (I'll also try to keep this first post updated) to see if we are currently accepting requests. One story at a time ~ We will only be accepting one story at a time from each member. Once your story has been reviewed you may request another story be reviewed, but please do not ask for reviews of more than one story at a time. Furthermore, stories will only be reviewed once.Civility ~ We will not tolerate any rudeness towards any of our staff. Also, please do not start spamming this topic with complaints of "My short story hasn't been reviewed yet!" and so on. Additionally, do not PM any critics along the same lines [or myself, for that matter]. This may, and most likely will, be considered harassment, and you will be reported to the proper authorities and taken care of. Not to mention we will never review your story. Please, no spamming in this topic. If you see an error, or it has been a while and no one has reviewed your story, you may politely myself or Snoopy82 asking whatever it is you want to ask. Make sure, however, that it has been at least a week since you requested a review. Of course, if we made a mistake when adding your story to the list, feel free to PM me any time, or post in this topic politely, pointing out the error. Short Stories Only ~ No, we will not be reviewing epics, comedies, artwork, or anything else that is not a short story. We do take COT requests, but it must be a short story.Back-Seat Reviewing ~ We've all heard the term "back-seat driving." This is what happens when a passenger in your car starts telling you what lane to turn into, when to brake, when to accelerate, etc. It can get really annoying. Back-seat reviewing is the same idea, where writers explicitly tell us how to do our job. We're here for you, but we also know what we're doing. So please, don't tell us how your want your short story reviewed. If you have a preference, you may explain such in your own topic. However, whether or not the critic reviewing your story takes such into account, the Short Stories Critics Club cannot be blamed. We're writing reviews how we feel will help you best. Only if the review you receive goes against the BZPower rules do you have the option of reporting such grievances to me [Velox], Snoopy82, or the Forum Staff of the short stories forum. If you have a problem with your review, please PM myself or Snoopy82 and we'll be glad to remedy the situation. Favoritism ~ Writers may not request that a specific critic review his or her short story. We're all hardworking people, and we're dedicating our time so that the authors of BZP get recognition. All critics are either handpicked by myself and Snoopy82, or have undergone heavy scrutiny and screening. We have full faith in them, and you will get a good review from all of them -- we don't let every critic in here. Begging ~ It is not alright for an author to beg for a review. I understand that you may not get reviews, or if you do all you get are reviews filled with spam, but that does not mean you are allowed to beg and spam. Don't give us that. Just post saying you'd like a review [following the guidelines below], and one will be given. This follows under the rule of Civility. We ARE currently taking requests! Copy and paste the following form into your post, adding in the necessary information: Short Story Title - Author's name here You must link to your short story. Do not say 'It's in my sig.' Your request will be ignored if you do. Then, you must put your name under the 'author's name here' section. Either Snoopy82 or myself will check over each and every review, to assure that is of the appropriate quality. If we find one which does not give enough insight, then we will PM that critic asking them to edit their post and give them pointers how to improve. We value quality as a very high priority, and if you find that we have not performed to the best of our abilities, please, don't hesitate to PM either Snoopy82 or myself. Here is the list of current approved Critics and Curators/Co-Curators. Bios will be put up at a later date: Curators: Velox PM me if you have any questions, comments, concerns, complaints, etc. about the club or if you would like to become a critic. Cederak Feel free to PM him with any questions, comments, concerns, etc. We will be working very closely together to ensure that each critic upholds the elite status of this club. He will also be helping to make sure the club runs smoothly. Co-Curators: Snoopy82 -- He was in charge of the critics, but currently inactive. Lazzy the Spazzy -- Co-Curator Emeritus Critics: Velox Cederak Tolkien Yukiko Jedi Master J. Current critics must adhere to the rules in the post below. ~ Velox
14. ..1. Lol. So anyway, great game, pretty tough, but disappointingly short...! GLaDOS is so funny at the end though. :s:

Limitless

So today I saw Limitless with two of my friends. It was actually a really good movie, despite me thinking it would be horrible. Hmm. :s:
16. Bundalings

Soul Surfer

It actually surprised me. I thought it was gonna be pretty awful, but it was actually quite good. Some of the acting was downright bad (namely the youth pastor and the token mean surfer girl), but the lead actress was really really good. She made up for everything else. Worth seeing I thought. I recognized pretty much every location. Except there was one random scene in the parking lot of a grocery store that was most certainly not on Kauai. Kind of random. I mean, we have grocery stores here. Why did they film that one random scene on Oahu? OTHER RANDOM MOVIE NEWS if you've seen the main trailer for Pirates 4 you've seen my bro. He's one of the screaming soldiers about halfway through the trailer.
17. Bundalings

G. I. Joe

I knew it would be bad, but it was IMPOSSIBLY bad. I'm still in shock. Long day, good night.
18. The animation in Rango was better than anything I've seen from Pixar and 10x better than anything I've seen from Dreamworse.

Series 4 Minifigures

Series 4 started hitting the shelves last week. I managed to get my hands on a few already. I have been quite shocked at their massive availability, especially after the rush to get Series 3, and the first two series didn't even show up in the store I frequent. But this time there were boxes upon boxes on the shelves. Okay, so I've seen two boxes each at two different stores, but they've hardly been picked through, so I'm guessing the massive collectors must've carried off a few other boxes. Regardless, there seem to be plenty of figs for everybody, but I still managed to grab the ones I wanted via feeling the bags. It was a little tricky on some, but I'm 8/8 so far. Anyway, individual reviews! Surfer Girl: I needed her for an ocean scene I bult. Her surfboard is way cool; I prefer its design (pink flames) over the one with the other surfer. The torso is a nice wetsuit decal, and I do like the sly female grin. This head may quickly be moved to a custom fig. Also, the cool new hair piece in a new color (I half expected it to be the same color that came with the tennis player last time... but luckily it's a lighter brown instead of orange) Frankenstein: I have a monster lab idea that I might be building, and I couldn't do it without this monster. Overall, nice detail, and the band aids do make it more humorous and less scary for the little kids, I suppose. The sand green head is nice, and if my monster lab idea falls through, I might use it for an orc in my LotR model (since I don't have any actual orc figs, and I'm too lame to dish out $5 to get one online). Oh, and I'm guessing that the head piece will also be used at the puffy hair for the British Guard in Series 5, just without the band aids painted on. Kimono Girl: The hair bun piece is a nice addition due to the flowers painted in it. As for the fig in general, I think it works out nicely, although I don't quite know if I'd use the parts for custom figs. The fan is nice tho; new weapon methinks. Musketeers: Best fig in the batch, easily. New sword; I love this rapier design. Great hat (is it new? I'm not sure) and white puff. Led, torso, and head designs are also great. Since I was a big fan of Dumas's D'artagnan books, I will be needing four of these figs. (Yes, there were four musketeers in The Three Musketeers, although I guess technically D'artagnan wasn't a musketeer until the end of the book...) And once I have four of these, I will swap out some of the heads and recreate a scene from one of the novels... although not sure which yet. Hazmat Suit Guy: He's a pretty nice fig, in all Keetong orange. The suit actually has the trans clear faceplate built in, and it has a connector on the back for the rubbery hose (the back is actually similiar to the Aquanaut suits). The expression on his face is also great. He is certainly the poster child for Series 4 figs. Mad Scientist: Again, I needed him for the monster lab idea. Man, this was a hard guy to find. Not only is he supposedly rare (only two come in a box) but his main features (spikey hair and beaker) are hard to feel out in the bag. I almost mistook a sailor for a scientist cause I thought the telescope was the beaker. But I did manage to find him, and he looks mad enough. The trans green / clear beaker is easily the best part here, but the fig certainly matches the accessory. Ice Skater: This is quite an unusual fig. She's got lots of printed detail on her legs, torso (front and back) and head (extra sparkles!). It also comes with a skirt, but it's a different material than the kind that capes are made from (which didn't work as well for the hula girl of series 3). However, despite the better feel, it still makes it awkward for her to move her legs... which is probably a bad thing for an ice skater like her. The ice skates themselves are a weird piece; they fit onto the legs alright, and two of them offer adequate balance, but then it's hard to attach a fig back to a plate with them on. Furthermore, the hairpiece is new; it also ends in a bun, but it has this large and unnatural swirl at the front, and I'm not sure that I like it. In the end, I was much less impressed with this fig than I thought I'd be. But hey, her parts will still make for good customized figs. That's all I have for now. I'm still planning to pick up some more. The skater is appealing for his head, which would make a good self-fig. The werewolf, despite not looking good at all IMO, comes with a bone and brown elf hair, so I'm interested. The soccer and hockey players also look appealing. Oh, and I need two more musketeers. So I hope to get some more eventually.

Nitroblast

Y'know, I've pretty much stopped doing blog set reviews anymore. No, it's always "Hey, go to the front page and see what I posted." But yeah, I think these pictured turned out a little better. Has something to do with using my parents better camera, and photo editing using the newest and coolest Photoshop. (My old Paint Shop Pro is from like 05 or something... but that program was still easier to use to crop / resize images quickly, so I did use it too) But yeah, review up. Whatdoya think?
21. Great movie. Also; Death is just a door, Blake said it first It's just another room we enter, it's a threshold that hurts Birth is just a chorus, death is just a verse, in the great song of spring that the mockingbirds sing We come and we go, a-weeping and a-wailing, our heads in the hands of the nurse Well, put your head on my shoulder, baby, tell me where it hurts You say you lost your one and only, could it get any worse? I said, "Death is just a door, you'll be reunited on the other side"
22. ... But lime, keetorange and black looks really good on my Toa of Stone. Also; Son of Rambo was a really good movie.

Skull Motorbike

Go read the review. It's on the front page after all! I'm not too thrilled about how some of the pictures turned out, but this one was good. Of course I had to add the extra trans clear beam to get a good jumping look in. But yeah, the set was great. You should buy it. NOW.
