  1. Hi, guys! Are any of you aware of or do any of you remember a playset Lego theme called Legends of Chima in 2013-2015? Well, if you do and like it, then let’s celebrate its 5th anniversary this year. I like the theme. It was pretty cool. Legends of Chima was originally going to replace Ninjago when Ninjago was going to end in 2013. However, Ninjago was so successful that it was able to continue to 2014. Also however, Legends of Chima and Ninjago were running together from 2013 until 2015 when Legends of Chima ended and it had more sets in 2013 than Ninjago (6 Ninjago sets). Legends of Chima has a story and a TV show, like Ninjago. The theme is about humanoid animals fighting each other after magical energy called Chi. The theme is the first original Lego theme to have constraction sets (there are 13 in total), and it took over the trading card business. Plus, it is one of the first themes to have ball-and-joint building system in the Lego System brick figures (rather than Mixels), and that began in 2014. The TV show is made by the same people who made Ninjago’s TV show. This show has voice actors that we don’t know, not like ones in the Bionicle movies, Hero Factory’s TV show, Lego Atlantis special, Clutch Powers, or Ninjago, who we know and are well known. The 3-D animation in there is slightly different from Ninjago’s. The voice actor thing and animation thing is a bit weird. Plus, it’s weird that the show ended in 2014 before the theme ended in 2015. The show has some shorts that tell untold stuff, which are funny, though. In my opinion about the theme, well, as I said before, it was pretty great and cool, but it is a little weird. I give it mixed-to-positive feelings about it, including the show. However, I do like the character development and the humor. I feel pretty sad about the theme ending. However, it did have a little bit of legacy. Legends of Chima was features in the season finale of Ninjago’s TV Season 5 as one of the 17 Realms in the Ninjago story. Plus, there are three LoC Fun Packs from a toys-come-to-life video game called Lego Dimensions in 2015. LoC has never been heard of ever since. However, after the theme ended, another theme with the TV show with the same animation, Nexo Knights in 2016-2018, took its place, even though when that theme in 2018 ended, there was no replacement after it. Well, it’s best not to make another theme with a TV show between Ninjago’s TV show is dominating and is more successful. Anyway, what’s your favorite moment with LoC? For me, well, I like the parts where Laval fights Cragger, Plovar taking care of Cragger’s teeth at wrong times, the Speedor races, the heroes saving the Crocs from the Wolves, the Legend Beasts fighting the Dark Tribes, Plovar angering the Spiders by calling them uglies, the Heroes fighting the Dark Tribes in a cave where the Lion Legend Beast was, the good tribes having hard time fighting the Hunter Tribes when everything is frozen, the Bears being awake and fighting the Ice Bears, and the Heroes with the Fire Wings and Flinx defeating the Hunter Tribes. I am planning to do a marathon on the TV series someday.
  2. Hi, guys! If anyone likes Ninjago's first TV season in 2012, which is about the Serpentine causing chaos and awakening the Great Devourer, let's celebrate the 5th anniversary of the season. I am not just talking about the season. I'm talking about the sets that the season is based on. So, yeah, happy 5th anniversary to the season! First, I'll tell the plot of the season: The season has 13 22-mintue episodes. It starts off with Ninja, who are Kai, Cole, Jay, and Zane, encountering their archenemy, Lord Garmadon's son named Lloyd Garmadon, who is doing evil pranks on people, but the Ninja stop humiliate him. This causes Lloyd to get revenge on them, so he walks to a snowy environment, where he finds and opens a tomb. In there, he unleashes one of five tribes of evil snake-based people called the Serpentine, the Hypnobrai, to attack village where the Ninja stopped him earlier. The snakes hypnotize people in the village and stole candy for Lloyd. One of the Hypnobrai named Skales is not fond of the idea, but the tribe's general, Slithraa, tells Skales, who is his second-in-command, to obey him. This is because Slithraa was trying to hypnotize Lloyd earlier, but Lloyd accidentally used an ice wall to reflect Slithraa's hypnotism back to Slithraa, making him obedient to Lloyd. The Ninja defeat the tribe by stealing their staff to use the anti-venom in there to cure the hypnotized people. Later on, Lloyd has the tribe build a tree-house-like fortress for him, but the Ninja stop them by destroying the unfinished fortress. The tribe gets their staff back, makes Skales their new general, has Slithraa obey Skales, and kicks Lloyd out of their tomb, but Lloyd got a map to the other tribes before that. Lloyd then unleashes another tribe called the Fangpyre, who can turn anything into snakes by biting them like vampires, to cause more trouble, but the Ninja stop them. Later, Lloyd has the Fangpyre fight the Hypnobrai for revenge, but the tribes instead ally each other and want to overthrow Lloyd. After Lloyd escaped from them, he opens a tomb of another tribe called the Anacondrai, who are said to be most feared and powerful of the tribes. However, he discovers that all but one Anacondrai are killed because of hunger, as he sees the last of the Anacondrai named Pythor P. Chumsworth, who is a snake with a long neck who can turn invisible and was the tribe's general. Lloyd and Pythor team up to commit little crimes in a village. They then attacks a school that rejected Lloyd before the time where he unleashed the Hypnobrai. The Ninja go to stop them. Pythor betrays Lloyd by stealing the map from and lets him get captured by the Ninja. The Ninja's sensei, Wu, who is Lloyd's uncle and Lord Garmadon's younger brother, teaches him to reform. Pythor uses the map to find and unleash the last two tribes, which are the Constrictai, who can dig through ground and choke their victims, and the Venomari, who can make people hallucinate by spitting venom into their eyes. The Ninja learn that Pythor plans to unite the tribes to find blades called the Fangblades, which can unleash a snake-like monster called the Great Devourer that can cause destruction upon the land of Ninjago. A new hero called Samurai X shows up to help the Ninja fight the Serpentine, and this hero is actually Kai's sister, Nya, using this as a superhero-like identity. The Serpentine kidnap Lloyd, which makes Wu go find and have Lord Garmadon help him and the Ninja fight the Serpentine and rescue Lloyd. When Lord Garmadon was found in an alternate world, he has four arms. He never wanted Lloyd to be a villain like him, and it is revealed that when he was a kid, he was used to be good-hearted until the Great Devourer, as a young snake, bit him with a magic venom that turned him evil. Garmadon still has a good conscious, so he wants to save Lloyd, who he cares. Meanwhile, the Ninja learn to unlock their true potential to use their elemental powers by expressing their hearts meaningfully (Zane has ice powers, Jay lightning, Cole earth, and Kai fire). Along the way, Zane is revealed to be a robot that the Ninja called a Nindroid. After all of the Ninja unlocked their true potentials, the good guys discover that Lloyd is a legendary hero called the Green Ninja, who is destined to fight his father in the future, even though that the Ninja originally thought that one of them was going to become the Green Ninja. After the Serpentine found the Fangblades, the good guys steal the blades from them while Lloyd is sad that Garmadon left him. Later, Pythor steals back the blades and goes to the Serpentine's ancient city to unleash the Devourer, which is giant, powerful, and can eat anything to grow bigger. The Ninja, along with Nya, Lloyd, and their pet called the Ultra-Dragon, which is a combined form of their dragons, try to stop the Devourer from destroying a city called Ninjago City, but it is unstoppable. However, Garmadon is the only one to use all four magical weapons called the Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu and the Devourer has a weak spot on its head, so the Ninja give Garmadon the Weapons and traps the monster, so Garmadon can hit its weak spot in order to defeat it. After he did so, the snake explodes into a tsunami of green goo that covered the city. Garmadon left with the Weapons, and Lloyd knows that he will face him, but the Ninja ensure that they will train him. To celebrate, let me ask you this: What are your fond memories about the season and the sets and/or what do you like about them? For me, well, they are very good. The first season shows the Ninja's character development more. It's cool and weird that Zane is a robot, which expands why he behaves weirdly. Jay wants to show Nya that he loves her (You can remember that moment from the pilot episodes in 2011). Cole needs to impress his dad when his dad expected him to be a dancer. Kai, well, is always hot-headed, but he learns that caring for people is a bigger priority than getting a special object. It's cool that Nya is a genius in mechanics, and becomes Samurai X and makes a mech to become her own hero. She like Iron Man from Marvel. She does try to help the boys out. The Ninja's NRG forms and them having elemental powers are awesome! They're like Ninjago' own Toa from Bionicle. It's interesting that Lloyd first starts off as the show's equivalent to Bowser Jr. from Mario video games when he is the son of an archenemy and wants to be like him, but he becomes more like Luke Skywalker from Star Wars when he has to become a hero to defeat his father, even though that he doesn't like this. I feel bad that Lloyd was captured by the Serpentine, being left out, and the Serpentine betraying. He was quite unlucky. But, I'm glad that he reformed and is saved by the Ninja and Garmadon. Sensei Wu is a good character, and he is cool when he can use a magic tea to travel between worlds. He feels bad that the Great Devourer turned his brother evil long ago. That's quite interesting. The Serpentine are very cool and funny. Pythor and Skales are great as villains because they are great at planning. It's interesting that each Serpentine tribe has ranks that go, from lowest to highest, from Scouts to Soldiers, then Warriors, then Generals, has unique powers and other abilities, and is based on a kind of snake. The Generals look epic because of snake tails and staffs. Good thing that there are anti-venom in the staffs that can undo the effects of the serpentine's powers. Garmadon is a cool character, as he has four arms and can hold all four Golden Weapons without getting destroyed by them (Samukai was the victim). He is a good and interesting character because he was used to be a good-hearted human who got bitten by the Great Devourer, which turned him into an evil villain. However, Garmadon still has a good conscious, so he cares about his son and doesn't want him to be evil, so he agrees to help the Ninja save Lloyd from the Serpentine during the time. Sadly, Lloyd feels bad that Garmadon left him, and Garmadon doesn't want to fight Lloyd when he becomes the Green Ninja, either. Speaking of the Green Ninja, it's cool that there's a legendary fifth Ninja, which is Lloyd. It's neat to see the skeletons from the 2011 storyline again, as Garmadon gets them to help him fight the Serpentine. The Great Devourer is very cool because it can eat stuff to become bigger and stronger. The Ultra-Dragon is awesome because it is a combination of the Ninja's four dragons. It's super-cool that the Golden Weapons can transform into vehicles that the Ninja can drive. I feel bad that the Hypnobrai The toys for the season are very cool. I like the new Spinjitzu spinners, new weapon packs, the Fangpyre vehicles, the Ninja's new vehicles, the Samurai Mech, the Ultra-Dragon, and the Great Devourer. The snake-like designs on the Serpentine vehicles look amazing. Sadly, there's no spinner or pack for Snike, who is a Constrictai Scout. When I heard that there two cancelled sets, which are the Serpentine Train and Lloyd's tree house fortress, I feel sad about them. IT would be cool if they are actually released as sets. The Ultra-Dragon could've have the colors of the dragons that it is made of. The Ninja's vehicles are awesome, and I like the Ultra-Sonic Raider the best! The Devourer looks menacing. The Fangblades look cool. So guys, what are your fond memories of the storyline, what do you like about it, what's your favorite 2012 set, favorite character(s) in the storyline, favorite moment in the storyline, what things remind you of the storyline, and/or how would you celebrate it? For me, well, my favorite characters are Cole, Lloyd, Jay, Zane, Nya, Pythor, Lord Garmadon, and Skales, and my favorite sets are Cole's vehicle, the Fangpyre Truck, the Rattlecopter, Destiny's Bounty, the Samurai Mech, the Ultra-Sonic Raider, and Epic Dragon Battle. The things that remind me are: 1. The Avengers movie in 2012. 2. That snake guy from Ben 10: Alien Force and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien 3. The Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man movie in 2012. 4. Iron Man from Marvel (Nya) 5. Karai's snake form from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2012 6. The Toa from Bionicle (The Ninja) 7. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader's relationship from Star Wars (Lloyd and his dad) 8. Mark Surge and Voltix from Hero Factory (Jay) 9. Electro from Marvel and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014 (Jay) 10. That evil snake guy name Lyric from Sonic Boom video games in 2014. 11. The Midgard Serpent from Marvel 12. Snake-based villains from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes 13. Jafar from Disney's Aladdin movie in 1992. 14. That snake-like Constructicon from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in 2009 15. That giant and drilling snake-like creature from Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2011 16. The nagas from The Secret Saturdays. 17. That evil cobra from Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesome-ness. 18. Hex's snake form from Ben 10 in 2016 or 2017. 19. Cobrax from Mixels. 20. Bowser and Bowser Jr. from Mario (Lord Garmadon and Lloyd Garmadon) 21. Hero Factory’s 2012 storyline - villains breaking out to cause chaos (the Serpentine)
  3. Hello there. In recent months I've developed an interest in lost pieces of media (particularly animation) and has made me want to find a lost piece of Lego history. Look at this topic for more details on that piece of history: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/11717-old-lego-adventurers-cartoon/ I believe this may exist somewhere and I believe I may be able to find evidence of it by looking through archives of Lego fansites. However though I don't know all the fansites and the only one I could think of did not have archives going back to 1998. If anyone could help me find old lego fansites that have archives going back to 1998 I would appreciate it. P.S Not sure if this should go in the Lego discussion. I consider it off-topic as it is about my search for a very obscure mini-series.
  4. So I was hanging out with a friend yesterday. We went to a Walmart and I got the shiny new Lewa set (the new gear function is kinda weird), and she got a doll from Ever After High, which she collects. Once we arrived at her place, she showed me The Dragon Games which is a part of Ever After High, and then the first episode of the series. I'm just going to say that Raven is by far the most interesting character. Like, even more interesting than Twilight Sparkle. As for Apple White, she is dumb and spoiled and I kinda hate her. Maddy Hatter is also a fun character. According to my friend, she is perfect. So now I'm a grown man watching yet another cartoon show intended for small children, specifically girls. How does this keep happening? GET OFF MY LAWN! ~Tekulo <3
  5. Here is the place to discuss things about these sister shows based on the DC Comic Universe. To start of discussions: -Can anyone else not wait for the full introduction of Gorilla Grodd and how he will be represented in Flash? -Did anyone not like Sarah (original Canary)? I always found her annoying and I 'caloo callay''d Jabberwocky-stlye in silence upon her demise. -I read somewhere that Huntress appeared in Arrow's first season, why don't I remember this? Did she do anything? -Anyone else think it's awesome that Firestorm has been introduced? -What are thine thoughts upon the possibility of Suicide Squad getting their won show? (CW? More like DCW!) Chat away, boys 'n girls!
  6. Here’s the last one. Episode 27: The Surge Did they rename Darkley’s School for Bad Boys again? And where are those elemental weapons, Kai? The Overlord didn’t steal those too, did he? While I’m at it, I guess the light of Lloyd only blasted the Overlord’s form to bits, and he was standing on top of a tower, so I guess he could have been housed in a computer. We’ve already seen the Overlord in “spirit” form before, so I guess he could take that again and put himself into the computer system – what quicker way to gain power? But he was weakened after Lloyd clobbered him, so he couldn’t get himself out. Hence the messy plan. Of course, the reboot switch for this computer is even messier. Most computers turn off with a switch, and in the rare event that doesn’t work, you can always pull the plug. Why the elaborate reboot sequence? Of course, I suppose this isn’t a reboot as much as a hard-drive format, which is harder to do, but still, why the use of the four-techno blades (dated term, dudes) instead of the standard disk unpartition? I blame sets. I suppose security could have something to do with it, but surely your wouldn’t want the reboot items to be gold, prominent, and unable to stop an invasion from within. Alright. I do like that no matter what they do, the ninja never get any recognition or Life Upgrades. They’re ninja, you know. Also, if you’ve watched season 2-3, you know that Jay and Nya are a thing, but Nya was never consulted on the matter – Jay just filibustered along in typical Jay style. Thus, Nya talking to him about boundaries makes sense. The computer nominating Cole as Nya’s match does not. When computers know anything about love, I will have green pointed ears and be sitting on a boat dock on a planet of the Alpha Centuri star system. Still, given that the computer in this case is guided by PLOT, I’ll give some credence to the idea that the two have more chemistry than Jay and Nya. Cole is less of an overwhelming blabbermouth and would be more respectful of Nya. But I have to say that Nya is a lot better character by herself, and why does the girl always have to be a love interest, or forcefully painted so she isn’t? Anyway, how this ends up pleases me, but what Nya does to Cole in the middle of this season doesn't. There are way too many romance plots and romantic mess going on this season. Stick to the ninjas and samurai fighting evil, pleeeease. Ugh. [/rant] I thought elevators were inside buildings. Also, training staffs are indestructible – they can deflect metal saws and claws. Sensei used the self-sacrifice ploy again. The Overlord forgot to watch his copy of Ninjago seasons 1-3 on Cyrus Borg’s complimentary hard drive. And frankly, the Overlord should keep his mouth shut: the fact that the ninja knew about Lloyd being what he wanted literally sunk his ship. Episode 28: The Art of the Silent Fist The trees in Ninjago are really weird. I get the whole animation dealio, but they still look like turtles. One thing I can’t fault this season for is the pacing. Unlike last season where we had filler and some other pacing issues, these episodes chug along at a breakneck pace. In just a few minutes, we’ve established a whole bunch of details, some of which will be important later, like draining the golden power out of the bots and Wu’s capture. I also think it important to note that PIXAL was evil for a while – what is it with the evil girls, Ninjago? Also, what is it with the dinosaur bones? Last episode we had one just casually tossed aside like it was nothing, and this one had the X cave hidden under a skeleton. I think it’s supposed to be a joke about the contrast between old dinos and new technology, but I think I missed it. And Cole’s dad’s “box” to hide the ninja is too small to fit them all. (Ninjaspace? ) The PIXAL/Zane romance plot has too many holes in it. They just met each other mere days ago, and Zane cuts out half of his heart for her. That’s insane. It’s also Zane – we’re talking about the guy who frees sea monsters out of sympathy and befriends mechanical birds. Still, it’s a bit early to be so affectionate – she did steal the stuff you were guarding earlier. Come on. Episode 29: Blackout Pythor’s invisibility also explains why he was able to sneak into the Borg place and steal the corrupted drive. I like this episode because it gives us a taste of mystery though. I also like the scene with Lloyd and the raptor. 28, 29, and 30 all give us a taste of the affection that Lloyd and Garmedon feel for each other as father and son. Even the venom of the Great Devourer couldn’t overcome it. Episode 30: The Curse of the Golden Master According to the Serpentine, the curse of the golden master is getting too much power, that the power is the problem. Actually, I think the real curse of the golden master is that Lloyd loves his father. He relied too much on the golden power to save him, however – the golden power is slower to charge up than just using Spinjitsu to leap the gap. The ninja running into Scales and thinking him as the enemy is actually legitimately funny. Wrong snake indeed. But where did the weirdly lighted underground space come from? The one where the snakes were sealed showed them in with the stone platform the army was on in a dingy space. They could have made improvements though. Also, if Scales made an oath not to return to the surface, how did he get the groceries and the copy of the Ninjago Times? “Where are my knights in shining armor?” Go Nya! Episode 31: Enter the Digiverse Kai is the guy who normally makes the motivational speeches and handles any situation with confidence, if not downright impatience. Seeing him disturbed is OOC. Digiverse is scary, kids. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Go Nya! Do not insult the samurai of Ninjago! Also, the title sequence for this season refers pretty strongly to this episode. Episode 32: Codename: Arcturus Okay, so why does Kai not use his NRG flaming-shield flying fireball here? That would get him back in the car, and even if he was tired PIXAL could still drive. I guess flame on cars = bad period. He also could have used it to fly up to Pythor if he was so big on kicking his white tail. He could have used it offscreen, I suppose, although that’s hardly stealthy. Still, in that situation Kai wasn’t aiming for stealthy anyway – he made it clear that he was going for broke, so why not actually go for broke? *sigh* I think this plot of trying to get the golden weapons from space is a really cool idea that will lend itself to some comedy come next episode. Also: does Spinjitzu work in space? We will soon find out. (Unless you live in Australia, in which case you already know.) Not-so-final Thoughts I hesitated to release this one because there are two more episodes left in the season, but I guess I’ll see what the future brings. So far, this season has been well-paced, humorous, and tense with lots of dark drama. Unlike season three, the pace has increased to reflect the drama level. The romance plots feel like a distraction to the overall picture, but fortunately the story hasn’t focused too much on them. A few niggling logical quandaries are its thorns in its side as well. Hopefully those will be resolved as the story goes on. So far, it’s a fine piece of work, and I look forward to seeing what happens next.
  7. Hi, guys! As the title says above, who is your favorite Hero Factory TV episode? For me, I think the Breakout episodes are my favorites because they are epic.
  8. Season 1 Episode 1 I liked the opening to this one very intense with the battle and invasion. Wished that they had done more with the kidnapping of Eris it kind of felt forced, and was resolved too quickly I thought. Friends turned enemies trope going on. I kind of felt that Cragger was put up to the Chi theft by his parents, especially given their reaction after the Lions stood up for what was going on. This also could explain why Cragger cut his parents loose at the end of the episode. Still, the Chi thing going on could have driven him mad as well. If just had a little Chi. is ridiculous though. Episode 2 The sudden appearance of the Legend Beast struck me as a bit of a mistake it should have been left as a mystery for a bit longer. I like Lavals victory though, and also Eris comeback hopefully that continues to be a thing, as she was the victim/damsel in distress twice, and that is starting to get old. Lavals father strikes me as a Turaga-Vakama-style character the old wise elder with the thing for traditions and speeches. Episodes 1 and 2 mixed up the chronology on me, which is sometimes good for an opening, but can really be disorienting, especially here as they do it twice, which leads to a lot of repetition of events. The musical score in 1 needs help, but in two it really showed itself to be good for the tone of the series. 2>1, so the series is improving, but it suffers from seemingly contrived plot points like the Legend Beast. Im getting the feeling of an epic fantasy story at this juncture, which isnt bad. Episode 3 Ugh that theme song undermines the epic fantasy tone. Chima=/=Ninjago. Like the Mount Kavora possibly some telekinesis involved? Like the visuals so far the colorful 3-D animation is a true treat for the eyes. Laval is a realistic character this episode gave him depth. Also like the action from Eris. Craggers sister oh boy she is evil (Roodaka). Gorzan was just plain dumb and that whole sequence made me yawn. Except for the wolf vs. gorilla fight that would have been funny, but the beam-crash at the end ruined it. Also dont like the unresolved Aesop that was just plain sad. Wolves so far have no character depth, but the ravens and rhinos got a scene, as did the bear. Particularly like the ravens depth theyre shameless profiteers (i.e. the Dark Hunters to the Crocs Makuta). Episode 4 No, sometimes I let Eris ruin stuff too. Nice. Felt that the road trip thing suffered from sloppy pacing and was really boring, but once the action started it started to shape up to be a good one. Did anyone else think that the Laval wakes up in bed was a shot at it was all a dream storyline? Glad that was subverted. Liked the Beavers a lot. Im hiring them for my next project lol. Episode 5 At this point the show has settled into a pattern of Fantasy Aesop style storytelling (dur, the characters are animals ). This can, and often does make for a good kids TV show (like Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat). It has its flaws: 1) that it can get boring and repetitive, and 2) the moral lesson is usually shoved in the viewers face, which sometimes precludes thinking for yourself about what they story really means. Sometimes thats half the fun of watching/reading, and so the story often needs another element to hold the audiences attention. For example, Sagwa was funny. This one doesnt seem to have any of that the jokes arent really funny, the action sequences arent cool enough to bring you in, and the mystery seems to be in the background and keeps getting undermined just when it could be interesting. While Episode 5 could count as a deviation from what I just mentioned, it doesnt have any redeeming qualities either. The ravens antics count as mildly amusing. Episode 6 Like the Eagles the scholars who use books as weapons. Also Lavals rambling about the plan thing counts as a good joke the first of the series thats actually funny. (After the Eagles.) I sense the tragic scene between Laval and Eris could fuel a lot of shipping if it wasnt already a thing after Episode 4. Episode 7 This episode just doesnt make any sense. Enough said. A random plot point spawned it for no good reason whatsoever. The partnership between Laval and Eris is starting to grow old. Episode 8 Another contrived earthquake plot point. Good to see Laval working with another lion instead of Eris. I think for what it is trying to be a childrens epic fantasy Chima succeeds. If you enjoy a solid fantasy genre with a dash of humor, then this is your show. If youre looking for sci-fi, Hero Factory may be more your thing, and if you want something that is a blend of the two that is plain flat more punchy, Ninjago is better. I find epic fantasy to be in league with Great Literature as a mind-deadening insomnia cure, though without mystery or some sort of tension/suspense. But thats just me. Lets get home while your ego can still fit inside the Lion compound. There you go, Eris. Also the shadow guy counts as a good mystery. He will likely be shoved off to the side in the next episode... Episode 9 Lions in life jackets. How cute. Also like how Crooler (Craggers sis) was marooned. Evil doesnt pay, kids. Episode 10 Crooler reveals her true colors in this episode. Evil has revealed itself, and now were playing for real stakes. The race for the Golden Chi plot point has grown awfully stale by this episode. Its just as well that its over. Who ShadoWind is has become more intense. Its a tragic episode, but with none of the weaknesses of the previous two, and for that I am grateful. Episode 11-12 These episodes are actually legitimately bad (as in bad things happen). Like the scenes in between Laval and Lavals father. Episode 13 Best episode yet. Actually legitimately funny. Episode 14 This show gets better as it goes along, although it could just be the growing-on effect. No comeuppance for Lavals ego though, which I was expecting after 13. (Also a noted criticism: Laval's ego/pride flaw never really seems to get him in trouble. He has a lot of Marty Stu characteristics, since all of his flaws seem contrived, forced in, and never really hurt him too much...) Episode 15 The Speedorz around Chima plot feels tacked on to the main plot about the Eagles and the Ravens. Does Laval have to be in every episode? Yeesh. Episode 16 Like seeing the constraction sets in action. Also like Lavals stand-up to his father at the end (character development yay). Episode 17 More character development for Laval. Dude seems to have a monopoly on that lately. Also like the Croc mystery reveal thing going on. Theres good food for theorizing with the Outland plants, the Gorge of Eternal depth, etc. The story has moved away from the fable style storytelling and embraced a solid continuity by about 11 or so, which is refreshing. Also wonder if the exile plot point will come around again, as the episode left it somewhat open-ended. I feel that if previous episodes are any indication, it will be pushed to the side and never heard from again. Seems that the series has come from a rocky start to a rather good epic fantasy. Theres some mystery going on, and some rather good character depth, which is key. Its centered on Laval a good deal this episode needed it but sometimes I wish there was more for the other characters as well, as anything beyond the stereotypes they are based on tends to come in fits and starts. Episode 18 More mystery development, especially with the outland plants, ShadoWind, Mount Kavora, and the black cloud itself. Excellent. Episode 19-20 Got to love it. Lavals fake death and everyones reaction to it was really handled well. I also liked the teamwork scene at the end. It hit all the right notes. The game has intensified, and were playing for real mysteries and real stakes, as opposed to the fable-esc storytelling of the previous stories. Definitely improved! Looking forward to the role that the bears will play in future story. It kind of feels weird cutting off the story here like they did, just as it was starting to get good. Still, they finally fully resolved the conflict with Cragger/Wolves/Ravens, and for that, much applause. Final Thoughts (Season 1): This TV series, in my opinion, begins a bit sloppy. The first two episodes are out of chronological order, which makes for a good deal of repetition and makes it difficult to follow. Eris is poorly characterized in these early episodes, which doesnt help much. By the third episode, however, Eris is fighting with the best of them and poking at Lavals character flaws. I also found the first two episodes to have cheesy dialogue that seemed to establish that the main characters are stupid. This seemed to trail off as the series progresses, but it could be that I got used to it. Beyond those first two, I didnt pick up on anything too inane. The next seven episodes seem to evidence that the writers were fumbling around trying to decide on the story direction. Basically its a lot of Cragger vs. Laval with emphasis on the lesson at the end of the episode, much like Aesops Fables (dur, animal characters ) or Sagwa The Chinese Siamese Cat. It also tries to be humorous, like Sagwa, and fails all the jokes fall flat or seem undermined. For example, the fight between Gorzan and Worriz over the flower would be funny except a beam falls from the sky and the flower is crushed anyway. The show also uses a lot of repetitive plot points here most notably the race for the golden Chi. When Laval says that there is not going to be any more races for a long time, I felt relief instead of dread. It also uses contrived ones like the hundred year moon thing totally random and out of left field. By episode 10, though, evil has revealed itself and real stakes are being played for. Crooler has been established as main villain, and the Wolves with their excess Chi are a real problem. 13 is actually funny, but I expected Lavals big ego to get a thrashing after that, and he didnt get it. 15 is a bit of a weak spot, but 16-17 gave Laval some really big character development, continuing the trend from 11 & 12. Laval gets the most character development over the course of the series, but the others do as well, especially the crocs. Its pretty clear that continuity has been established, with some real mysteries going on. I wont spoil them for you. Episode 20 has a lot of good emotional moments. I kind of felt that the story was cut off in the middle to a degree, with the conflict of 18 still up in the air, but the problems of the entire season the main conflict of it has been resolved in a very satisfying way.
  9. Wow. It's kind of hard to believe there isn't already a topic like this! Anyways, with Chima it's pretty clear that the TV show is the main medium for expressing the story, so I'd like to give everyone a place to express their opinions on the show thus far and speculate, discuss, and perhaps even(non-flame) argue about the storyline! Also, before you run wild, I would appreciate it if you hide season two discussion in spoilers for those people who haven't seen any of it yet. (I'll add my own thoughts when I have the time)
  10. Like the title says above, who is your favorite voice actor in the Hero Factory media? For me, my favorite voice actors are the guy who voiced Stormer, the guy who voiced Furno up to the Breakout episodes, Josh Keaton, Charlie Alder, and Mark Hamill.
  11. Have any of you guys noticed something suspicious about the Hero Factory TV Series? For me, I noticed that in every year, a number of episodes start to decrease. In the year 2010, there were 4 episodes. In the other year, 2011, there were 3 episodes. In 2012, there were 2 episodes. And finally, in 2013, there is only 1 episode, but it first came out in the Internet before it came out in the American television. And then, we heard that the Ghost Animation company is making a Hero Factory 22-minute TV special, which will come out in 2014. And also, we heard that there will be a Hero Factory live-action movie coming in some time, but it is just an idea because a company called Universal Studios is working to get the rights to make the movie. I'll bet that there is a pattern about the number of episodes decreasing every year, so I'll also bet that there will possibly be no episodes next year and/or so on in the future. Because of these thoughts, I'll bet that the TV series will possibly end soon, possibly in 2014 or a year after that, possibly because of TV special and/or the movie coming up. So, would this mean that the TV series will possibly end soon? If it does, I might become sad about it because I like the TV series a lot because it is cool and action-packed. (crying with tears of sadness ) And I think that it will possibly be like other TV series, Xialon Showdown, Transformers: Animated, and Sym-Bionic Titan, being ended this way. (still crying with tears of sadness ) So, guys, what do you think all of this?
  12. Hello, hello, it is I, X-Ray. I am here to inquire about what all of you think of the idea of Bionicle being adapted as an animated television show.Imagine each story year adapted to a season of the show. If they could take a cue from the Bionicle: Next Generation people, the potential creators of this hypothetical series could use experience and good judgement to iron out the continuity kinks and nit-picks which have forever plagued the main story of BIONICLE, not to mention trimming down the HUGE supporting cast.It would require a crack team of writers, possibly bringing back Cathy Hapka to work with Greg Farshtey, and possibly that Bob Thompson fellow. And at the risk of sounding melodramatic, perhaps this is a job for... Joss Whedon! Hey, I can dream, can't I? And while we're at it, let's get the folks from Batman: The Animated Series. Anyhow, we would definitely want David Molina back as the director; he was the one who was able to accomplish the sense of mystery and grandeur that the original movie trilogy had. And it would need an animation team on the level of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but hopefully a much better voice cast. And, beyond any shadow of a doubt, we would want Nathan Fillion on music. Definitely. And, if we're a little lucky, the story could be changed around a bit to include... maybe I shouldn't say it... things which are not normally present in the main story romance among the MU inhabitants. And a slight alteration to the "Toa do not kill ANYBODY" rule. I mean, on the logic that the Toa are superpowered police officers/soldiers, why shouldn't they be allowed to use lethal force when justifiable? This could lead to a whole host of good things, like expanding upon just what the Toa do in their off-time, or the time between the movies and books, and the web serials, not to mention the the handful of fan favorites, such as good ol' Vezon.Other things that I would like them to change in the story would be:* Get the time gaps shortened. I mean, seriously, 1,000 years? Let's take it down to, say, 25.* It would probably be a good idea to tone down the general darkness(/creepiness?) of the later story years. Just saying. It would also be a good a idea to devote a few episodes to developing each individual Toa as they go. As mentioned above, the number of supporting characters should be trimmed. On the other hand, the villains need to be handled... differently. In the story, there are generally one or two big bads and their hordes of minions. This results in more characterization being given to the villains because time doesn't have to be wasted expanding each and every one of the little bad guys, which are usually hordes of mindless Rahi (sympathetic characterization opportunity!), Bohrok (tragic character opportunity!), Rahkshi (might want to spend more time justifying how they totally owned the Toa, i.e. They were used to fighting dumb opponents, hadn't been in a really big fight in a a while, etc), Visorak (ugh), etc. On the other hand, some villains, like say, SIDORAK, should be handled differently to either make the audience love to hate them, or like them for not being hatable (that's not a word).Anyhow, there are tons of unexplored ideas here, and I would like to hear the ideas of my fellow BZP members on them. Please reply! 8)Sincerely, X-Ray
  13. So, what do y'all think of said TV series? Bleh, sub-par, the most amazing thing since sliced cheese? Where you think there is room for improvement? Could the characters be brought out better? Could the story go in more depth? What are your expectations for said series in the future? Who do you want to see more of? Should they bring old villains back? Should they bring back that weird plot thread with Von Nebula's staff, that "can anything that evil really be contained scene"? Do you think that this has anything to do with Breakout? Do you think it would be cool if it did? What do you think of all these random questions?
