  1. Flickr My entry in BS01's Legends and Infamy contest, in the Infamy category of course - the theme being to reimagine a Bionicle villain as a hero. I tried to touch on the major motifs of the original set - see if you can recognize them! Preliminary voting is still up on BS01 for about the next 48 hours, so go vote if you want your voice heard! C&C appreciated, do enjoy!
  2. Of all the most feared of pirates to ever grace the Matoran Universe, there is one who is so cunning and ruthless that even Dark-Hunters are fearful of him. Any ship bound for Xia is careful to keep a sharp look out for the ragged sails of a small armada led by a Steltian warship. A captain who values the life of his crew will surrender the moment he appears. Captain Keeleko will not hesitate to kill those who try to resist, and even the most compliant of his victims are never completely safe. http://s20.postimg.org/f8dhpiuvw/The_Vortixx_Pirate.jpg More machine than Vortixx, Keeleko is as cold and uncaring as they come. The lives of his own crew are trivial to him, and he will frequently kill one at random to remind them who he is. He usually picks out the most inept to keep his enterprise running smoothly. Back Leg Long before he became the terror of the high seas, Keeleko worked the docks of the Xian trade ports, unloading materials for manufacturing and stocking ships with weapons to be taken to distant islands. He had a taste for life at sea and aspired to be the captain of his own trading ship. However, his position as dock-worker, as well as being a male on Xia, prevented him from advancing far in the field. Fortunately he had a friend who had a knack for establishing social connections. A Xian female called Roodaka, who at the time was not much better off than he was. Assistant to the port's overseer, Roodaka knew all that was coming in and all that was going out, and had access to the records. She would 'alter' some orders, and Keeleko would make a certain percent of the cargo 'disappear'. Missing crates of Xian-made weapons would turn up in the black market rings of Metru Nui and Zakaz. Eventually both were making a fair amount of money in this operation, and could afford to purchase their own trading ship. Only one thing remained: In order to advance, they had to climb the mountain. Arm Arm part Deuce Keeleko was thrilled and could hardly wait to start. Years of hard labor had made him strong. Climbing the mountain would be easy for both of them. But there was one thing that he didn't count on: Betrayal. As they neared the top of the mountain Keeleko's foot became lodged in one of the mountain's hungry crevices. He called out for Roodaka, but the Vortixx kept on climbing. Swearing as he watched her vanish from sight, Keeleko was pulled into the mountain where its digestive juices began eating away at his body. But Keeleko refused to give up. He fought and hacked and smashed with every bit of bitter rage until he forced the crevice open again. Wracked with pain he began a hurried descent down the mountain, falling and injuring himself half of the way. But the damage had been done. The mountain had stripped flesh and armor from his bones, leaving a once-powerful Vortixx a humiliated invalid. His arm and leg lost all function shortly after he returned to the city and had to be removed. But a lust for vengeance can be a powerful and terrible thing. In time Keeleko repaired himself. His weakened muscles grew strong again, and he replaced his arm with a sort of crane he had once used in his job as dockworker. He was determined to destroy the Vortixx who had left him to die. And as she had been promoted to the new overseer of the trading hub, he decided his path lay with piracy. "You remember me, don't you, Roodaka?" "Thick as thieves, we were." "You still look as pretty as the day we climbed the mountain." Edit: Image linked; please keep images to 640x640 pixels and 100 kB in BBC. -Wind-
  3. Name: Karagarak (The Vortixx Hordika) Origins: Xia Current Location: Spherus Magna Powers: None Status: Alive Goals: To kill Lesovikk and all Visorak Karagarak was a Vortixx merchant on Xia who, on a trip to Stelt, landed on the island of Visorak. Upon landing at the shore, his ship crashed on the beach, leaving him ship-wrecked. He began to wander the island, and ran into Toa Lesovikk, who was being pursued by horde of visorak. Lesovikk left Karagarak, who was captured an mutated by the visorak. In is mutated form he escaped from the visorak and began to hunt Lesovikk. When Teridax was defeated, Karagarak moved to Spherus Magna and continued his hunt. Entry Picture Gallery (When public)
  4. https://www.flickr.com/photos/114035403@N02/sets/72157647895428888/ Going by the alias Garuda, this young Vortixx woman is a pit fighter, dark hunter, mercenary, and recent deserter of the previously mentioned dark hunters. This lady is not one to mess with.
  5. This PBZP was requested by Voxumo (Vox in a Box) a while ago. I completed the MOC on the night he requested it. But for some reason, everytime I tried to take photos of it, something would go wrong. And I mean Every.Single.Time!! One time I took over 40 pics, all of which were useless due to repulsive lighting and no adequate backdrop to take photos against. The other time, I had just started Christmas Holidays and was about to head for London when I decided to take photos. Of course, those were rushed, and unusable yet again. This time, however, I would not let the circumstances get in the way. So I bought enough lights, made a reasonable lightbox and took the photos. They're not super-wow but...enough blabbering, I'll take you straight to the MOC! < Back Shot (cool pose as well ) > < Action Pose! Ready to take you down! > < Close-up Shot > < Hand > < Legs > The photoset Voxumo asked for a white and black Vortixx-type character, with accents of gold and some dark grey. He also asked for armblades and an axe-like weapon. I really like this MOC. The original version was finished up quite quickly, but had a weak waist construction so I had to revise that part. This, however, involved rebuilding the whole torso, because the way the waist was built had a ball joint that wasn't secured in place, and thus required an axle with an end-stop to seal it in place. This idea only came to me after a couple months of keeping the MOC with a flimsy upper body. Anywho. Apologies for Voxumo, who had to wait ages and ages for me to upload this creation. I hope you like it! Let me know what you think. C&C is always welcome!
  6. Behold! The king of the Vortixx! Tremble before his might as he commands his army of assassins. Photo: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/CKinVA/MOCS/001.jpg This MOC started out as a concept for Lariska, but it turned out more masculine than feminine. The body and the head were the hardest to build and turned out really cool. As always, I am open to any C&C! EDIT: The right shoulder armor is missing because I forgot to put the axle in.
  7. The Order of Mata Nui often needs someone to keep their foes down, permanently. While Tobduk and others are experts in the field, it is often useful to have an executioner stationed at headquarters. And so while many Order members are sent out on mission, Dakatar remains on Daxia, filing his fingernails and waiting for the next Dark Hunter or Brotherhood spy to be brought in.Prior to his recruitment, Dakatar was a Vortixx inventor who excelled in weapons development and testing (like most of his brethren). His best invention was an armor plating system that utilized a type of protodermis "fiber" construct, which could channel elemental energy, if it was directly provided to the armor ("charged") by a being who controlled such a power. Dakatar eventually created a full set of armor for himself, through which he integrated these protofibers. The energy charge that Dakatar prefers to use is plasma, as depicted here.Unlike a conventional executioner, Dakatar doesn't use weapons, instead relying on his armor's plasma abilities to do the job for him. ^ click to go to gallery ^Notes:I did tag this as a titan; not sure if he technically is, though he's certainly taller than Axonn, maybe taller than Brutaka. The "ears" and most of the other white areas are parts of the armor. If anyone was wondering, the text "yes I am your end" is a reference to the backstory of another character of mine, a criminal who was captured by an OOMN agent, and told "your end is yet to come". Kind of a silly reference, but I felt the poster needed more text. Feedback on the MOC is appreciated, be it positive or negative!
  8. I finally built a recurring character in my latest epic, a Vortixx Dark Hunter codenamed 'Jutsu'. Here are the links:Gallery (when public)FrontSideBackAll weapons put awayPosing with swordPosing with throwing knivesPosing with daggersPosing with a dagger in one hand and shuriken in the otherUnarmed combat poseSpeaking with Toa ImlenBeheading a Steltian Brotherhood of Makuta lieutenantHe was inspired by ninja and samurai. He is named after a Japanese term meaning 'technique', 'spell', or 'trick' , because he is skilled with many combat techniques and weapons. Those words in English would not sound as good, but Jutsu conveys a special ninja-like meaning. The silver pieces on his head are meant to resemble a topknot. According to Wikipedia, the large katana-like sword is called an odachi or nodachi. Brutaka's blade doesn't make a perfect one but it's as close as I could get with the right size. I would have preferred straight daggers, but I don't think I have anything suitable. The knives, while simple, actually took a bit of thought. I first tried using a belt with narrow peg holes I got from Rocka to hold the knives over his chest, but that did not look good, so I used those T-shaped pieces. The knives tend to fall off, but they usually have just enough friction to stay on. I wish I could have come up with something better for the shuriken, but I had to settle for the smallest round pieces I had - those tiny flat axle stopper pieces.I meant for the model to resemble Roodaka, but not too closely. Also, lots of silver would not go well with the stealth theme, so the only silver parts are his weapons and his 'hair'. Roodaka is also very tall, I made Jutsu shorter so as not to completely tower over Toa. His lack of Roodaka's elevated ankles contributes to his shortness quite a bit. I tried giving him articulated hands like Hydraxon's, but those were too big, and besides, I didn't have enough tiny silver claws.I hope you like it. Comments and suggestions on how to improve this model would be appreciated.
  9. Roodaka was able to tear a Troller out of the ground, a creature big enough to swallow an entire block of Po-Metru. Is this the usual level of strength for a Vortixx? That sounds like something even a Pakari-user couldn't do.
  10. So, a huge flurry of uploads from moi, some of which are just random nonsense, some that aren't special enough for their own topics and will be sent via PM, and some which are too dull to be anywhere but Brickshelf. So, let the games begin!SentrakenAh, how good it feels to finally upload this guy. He'll mace you good.OMG NON-LEGO BURN IT WITH FIRELookin' fly from behindThe epically long legs of destiny"You're tall."Badbutt bad guyArmourlessArmourless gunArmless gunShoulder blades FTWTowering over his minionsGallery (when public)He originated as a character in the BZPRPG, who had purple armour, a cape and one eye. I could do none of those things with my lack of artistic and/or MOCing talent, and so made him in simple silver and gawesome gunmetal. Two things I did manage to keep were his massive gun that replaces the lower half of his left arm, and his abnormal height, even by Vortixx standards. I didn't get a picture of it, but a Toa Mata goes up to about Roodaka's hip, but a Toa Inika goes up to Sentraken's. And we all know how much taller the Inika were than the Mata. Another thing I failed to convey in my pictures was his feet. They're adjustable, so that when standing up he has these sort of massive hoof/jet engine things, but to keep him stable when bending his knees the HF armour piece can be adjusted to form a regular foot to hold him up. Since taking these pictures a few adjustments have been made, such as giving him a thumb on his right arm (Takanuva hands), but he's going to be the main villain of a stop motion that will be entering production tomorrow, so don't fret.[/shamelessadvertising]Trakuda's DeathThis is basically a little series of pictures I made that portray the death of Trakuda, my self-character in the RPG, at the hands of a Rahkshi."The sharp point of the weapon squelched and screeched as it pierced armor and bone and organ, emerging out the other side in a spray of blood and innards.""The Rahkshi tried to pick the Madu Cabolo off of itself, but Trakuda had managed to stick it fast. [...] Dropping its staff and all pretenses of deathly elegance, the Rahkshi scrabbled at the explosive with its sharp claws, shrieking urgently.""With a large, metallic bang, the Madu Cabolo exploded forcibly and burst apart the Rahkshi's midsection...""...rending the armor of its thorax into ribbons, sending its upper and lower halves careening in separate directions.""Hissing, the Kraata slithered out of its dead prison as fast as it could, only to then be caught unluckily by a fireball from above."Credit, of course, goes to Nuju for his epic description skills.

    Oppression

Review Topic***PrologueDrip. He wandered cautiously around yet another grimy, weed-infested corner. This place was a maze. Water slowly leaked through the cracked, decrepit ceiling from the soil on the ground above. Kuhrin had wandered into this cave looking for something. He couldn’t remember what it was, and he didn’t care, he just wanted to get out. Slipping on a slightly slimy patch of a substance he would rather not identify, the Matoran regained his balanced, and opted to be more careful. Why couldn’t he have remembered a torch when it actually mattered? Why did the one time he forgot have to result in him ending up in some old run-down tomb?Drip. There it was again. The dripping. Every time it fell, he was scared out of his life, in the worry that something was there. In the dark. It had always frightened him, since he was a child, since the days of being too scared to get up and go to the toilet, to the days of being too scared to get his Bamboo Disk from under his bed, in the days when he was at home. Warm. Safe. Now where was he? He didn’t even know. Who’s dumb idea was it to leave a cave in the woods anyway? Where people camp. Shouldn’t places like this be fenced off? Why did his Captain decide to bring him camping. ‘A good way to bring the Guardsmen together,’ the Captain had said, to ‘create a bond,’ which really worked well didn’t it?Drip. He could swear something moved that time. He didn’t know what it was, but it was there, he saw it, it had to be, it wasn’t a trick of the light, he didn’t even had a torch, there were only a few tiny little holes in the ceiling down here anyway. Something moved. However, it could just be a plant blowing in the chilled breeze, or a cloud going in the way of the moon or-A rat. It could be a rat. Rats in the dark. Rats in the cold blackness beneath a moonlit forest. What could possibly be worse? Then he noticed something. The dripping had stopped. He looked up. And what he saw horrified him.***Lord Vetma’s footsteps echoed throughout the stone halls of his island fortress as he strode briskly, cape flowing and Wormtongue in tow, to the laboratory in the deepest chasms of his citadel. Dark, metallic purple armour adorned the Vortixx’s tall frame, and over his heartlight was a glowing violet, star-shaped gem. His face was hidden behind a cloak of shadow; all that could be seen was the eerie glow of his monstrous, ruby red cycloptic eye. Yet his servant, Readra, more commonly known as Wormtongue, was anything but tall, grand and frightening. His face, too, was shrouded in shadow: Vetma’s shadow, to be more specific, as he cowered, hunched and sickening to the eye, slithering along behind his master. Rotting teeth barred in a mad grin of utter adoration of the Lord, it wouldn’t be a surprise for one to disbelieve the fact that they were, in truth, the same species, just at opposite ends of the social spectrum. If there were any sounds beyond the Two Vortixx’ feet, Lord Vetma’s voice would have pierced them all as he spoke in a chilling tone, “What were the results of the experiments? Has it brought me any closer to my goals?”Readra was not entirely sure how pleased Vetma would be with the truth, but decided he would receive a far worse punishment for lying, “Unfortunately not, my liege. Most of the test subjects did not survive the energy inductions or Protodermis baths.”“Most? What of the rest?”“They... They are in no fit state for further experimentation.”“How disappointing. Incinerate them.”“Of course, your highness.” Readra scratched something on to a tablet, before turning back to his master, “There was one, however, that proved... Particularly resilient.”“Oh? And who might this have been?” Lord Vetma questioned, inclining his head in interest.“A Ga-Matoran named Solia, sire.”“A Ga-Matoran? Fascinating.”A door ahead of them slid open in response, revealing a chamber of complete darkness, other than a dim spotlight that lit up a podium in the centre, on which lay a struggling Toa of Water. The first thing Lord Vetma noticed was that she was only slightly bigger than a Matoran, a side effect of the experiment. She was also very young, which would be useful for the years of training the Vortixx had in store for her.Readra took his place in the corner, whilst Vetma paced around the little splodge of light in the centre of the room, gazing at his work.“Can she hear me?” said he, without turning around.“She might still be in shock. Keep in mind that she has only recently awoken.” Readra croaked from his corner.Vetma stepped into the light so the Toa could see him, “Hello, Solia.” he greeted, “How do you feel?”“Confused. Broken.”“Do you know me?”Silence.“Speak.” he enforced.“You are... Lord Vetma.” Solia replied hesitantly.Vetma smiled and stepped back into the darkness, “Wormtongue! Come. We have much to do. Make sure Solia here receives the right... Hospitality.”***Later that day the tyrant was standing on a balcony overlooking Xia. Were it not for the tremendous levels of pollution in the sky, Vetma would be able to see the sun setting, and he knew it. He came here every day, to spend some time alone, and dwell on the past. Memories were usually brief and flavoursome, but today, his recollection was that of all that had brought him to this day. All that had made him the ruler he was, and that had placed the power in his hands to perform his experiments.A tragic past, one that haunted him every waking moment of his life.A tale of family.A tale of vengeance.A tale of oppression.

  14. so here is a vortixx i made in the downtime, she was sick of only designing weapons and not getting in on the action, so went AWOL. weapons are an energy crossbow, saw blaster and her headdress doubles as a sheildhttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0603.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0604.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0605.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0606.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0608.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0609.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0610.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0616.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0611.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0612.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0613.jpghttp://i123.photobuc...le/SAM_0614.jpglikey?my only regret is the camera angle makes her legs look a bit stumpy. but when you're 6foot 6inches tall it makes it hard to get down to bionicle level :/
  15. The objective of the Great Beings was to repair Spherus Magna. Now they want their newly reformed planet cleaned of all their repair robots and the Agori's world restored to normal. Why, then, do they start by attacking Toa? Why is Marendar, the being that kills Toa, free? Do the Great Beings even know about the other beligerant races ( Vortixx, Dark Hunters, Skakdi, etc) on Spherus Magna? Do they even appreciate the fact that the Toa are the only protection for the Agori against these races easily taking them over and making them their slaves? (The Golden Being and/or the Shadowed One could easily stomp the Glatorian) I'm tempted to think that that they do not because they don't even know that Matoran are sentient, less that other beings that are sentient and out to get them?Marendar escaped, yes. But why was he even on Spherus Magna if he was in the last stage of the repair robot wipeout plan, after all the other races had been removed. They knew that he could sense Toa, knew that if enough Toa were nearby that he would escape. They created him to find Toa and eliminate them. Unless they were complete and total fools, they should have kept him away from Toa until they knew what they were doing. It seems the Great Beings do not care about the welfare of the Agori (and we all know that the robot's purpose was to restore Spherus Magna and improve their welfare) or they are ignorant of the danger the other MU races pose. It would also seem that they aren't capable of destroying the other MU races without mass uproar, and have decided that removing one race is better than none, while ignoring the fact that that one race is vital to the welfare of all the peaceful persons on that planet. And it isn't really causing much trouble, either, and probably won't...
