CardboardToa97 posted a topic in Bionicle Discussionare there any particular sets, books, or other gubbins that make you feel awash with nostalgia? Just curious.
I Miss Samurai Jack!
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299It been six years since it stopped airing and I am just now remembering how much I liked that show. I guess it must be nostalgia from listening to its introduction song over and over again. Hm...I can't seem to remember the show having an ending though. Anyone here know if Jack finally return to past and defeated Aku? Hm...I wondered if I can find some copies of the show on DVD somewhere. Probably not. But I'll look anyway for nostalgia's sake. Which reminders I got to check for season two of Avatar: The Last Airbender too. *hums the Samurai Jack Opening Theme to himself* *** Outside of my brief nostalgia comments above, I have a question for you the audience. You see recently I got two LEGO sets and I have been thinking about reviewing them for you guys here. But well, I am not sure if I should do both or just pick one. So I thought that I would let you guys get involved a little in the decision process. The sets are the following: #7929, Star Wars: The Battle of Naboo and #2065, Furno 2.0. Well? What do you think? A-> Review them both B-> Review just the Star Wars set C-> Review just the Hero Factory set
Reflection On The Year 2010
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299Well, I can't say I am surprised that no one made use of my last entry at all. But then again, I expected as much from my lack of activity here and fact that I didn't really provided the reader much reason to want to comment. So anyway, it appears that today is last day of 2010 and so I decided that I write up a little reflection on the year. And what an eventful year it was from the end of BIONICLE to signature guideline changes on BZPower. It was quite a mixture of good and bad for one year. But what year isn't like that? Admittedly, the end of BIONICLE really wasn't that much of low point for me this year. As while I loved BIONICLE as much as a fan should, I thought the ending they provided in Journey's End, the Mata Nui Saga, and Comics illustrated end was fitting for the story and would allow us as fans to continue the story onward in fan created universes based on the BIONICLE Saga. It also did help lessen the blow that GregF did agree to continue the serials' stories of BIONICLE to at least tie up some of loose ends left over to provide us all with closure so to speak. As for the end of the sets, I kind of wished that they did end them with a bigger bang than the Stars since I felt as a fan that it deserve more than six Matoran-Sized Action Figures. Although I am also thankful that they didn't because it did saved me some money in the long run (College ain't cheap, friends.). So it was kind of both disappointment and a relief at the same time. Tahu Stars was especially a disappointment for me since his Hau can't fit on the Olda or Metru Heads. Outside the scope of BIONICLE, I got my first job in the year 2010, I graduated high school, and much more. It was very much a great year for me. Sure, it had its problems such as my computer crashing in November. But it was still was very much a good year and I hope for the best next year. With that said, I shall end this with my New Year's Resolutions: - Get a 2011 Hero Factory Set - Get my Driver's License - Figure out a way to attend BrickFair in the future - Get better at MOCing - Rejoin BZPRPG and be a more active and better RPer - Run a Blog Contest based on bonesiii's Expanded Multiverse project - Complete my research on the history of the RPG Forum - Enter an RPG in a RPG Contest - Return to writing epics and short stories
Should I Go To Brickfair Next Year?
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299Two blog entries in one day? Man, I must be pretty talkative today. Of course, by time, I get this up it will be tomorrow for me since its 11:26 PM currently in my time zone. BUMPED: To get more opinions from BZPers here, I am bumping this. So anyway, as the title tells you, I been considering going to BrickFair next year, if its still in Northern Virginia, and I would like to get the opinion of my viewers here on whether or not it would be worth going to attend. Would it? I imagine many people would say yes and that I would be fool to not jump at the opportunity to go. But well, I just not sure I would have any fun going since I am a shy, socially awkward, young adult with not the best MOCing skills. So with that in mind, would you still say I should go? Or should I not bother at all saving money to go next year? Thanks in advance to whoever takes the time to answer this for me. And if anyone that been there before could share their experience there with me, I would greatly appreciated.
The Death Of Roku
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299So as the title probably tells you, I was able to get Book 3 of Avatar: The Last Airbender yesterday, which why I didn't write anything yesterday as I watching it all day after work. It was great and there is lot of scenes, that I love to get screen grab of, such as Aang's Monkey-ish during Fire Nation School episode, where he thought he had been discover as the Avatar already. I am probably going to go back later and get a screen grab of that and make it into an avatar for here, if I can make it small enough without lowering the quality of the image. It also provided me with a chance to see some of episodes of season 3, I missed, since I wasn't able to catch them all as they air considering I don't watch Nickelodeon much, if at all, anymore. Those episodes were "The Western Air Temple," "The Firebending Masters," and "The Ember Island Players," which I thought were all pretty good episodes that I had wish I seen earlier. I especially liked "The Ember Island Players" for the funny portray of the Gang. Although I think the ending didn't fit the play well since it was very Pro-Avatar before that. But, of course, this play did take place in the Fire Nation, so naturally the Fire Nation scriptwriter probably didn't wanted to get kill for promoting against the Fire Nation leaders and add that ending to save his skin most likely. I can't waited to go buy Book 2 next Friday to get my second dose of nostalgia over Avatar. Next weekend going to be awesome. Too bad, I won't be able to use this then to talk about. Ah, well, I guess I'll just have to wait until I save some money again to pay Premier membership. But anyway, I am sure you didn't drop on by to hear me rant on about watching Book 3 of Avatar and instead see what my title here was about, so I explain now. As you Avatar fans know, Chapter 6 of Book 3 was a flashback episode about Avatar Roku and Fire Lord Sozin and while I did like it (And I did see it when it aired originally), I personally can not understanding at all why Avatar Roku was fighting the Volcano for. I say this because no one was in danger or left on the island for him to need to save since everyone had escaped on to lifeboats. And even if he was doing it to help them escape the island by keeping the lava from reaching them, he could of simply gone with them on the lifeboats and defend them from any threats that volcano might had brought up against them escaping. But instead he decided to fight a volcano and end up dying because his best buddy left him there to die. He must really loved his house there, if he willing to die to stop a volcano from erupting. Or maybe he wanted to impress his wife by conquering a volcano with his Avatar powers? *shrugs* Anyone here have an explanation?
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299So lately I been in kind of an Avatar mood due to all the news going about lately such as sequel series coming in 2011, I believe. And well, I been thinking about re-watching the series at some point this month or next month. Not because I wanted to see the movie (I have heard nothing but negative thoughts on it generally, so it doesn't sound too good. Although feel free to comment if you don't think it was that bad and maybe I'll considered going out to watch it, if there enough people saying that.) rather its more out of fact that I miss the series and I really want to watch it again. Anyone else here feel this way? Do you think it would be worth searching for, during this weekend, a box set of seasons to rent or buy? So far, I hadn't been able to come up with any box sets of the seasons for sale online and have only been able find halves of seasons online for stores like Walmart. Hm...I probably try and look for Book 3 this weekend since it is more likely still be found at stores now, compared to Book 1 and 2, and technically it is my favorite Book of series with Book 2 a close second. And since I brought Avatar here up, I guess I might as well sum up my opinion on what we hear about the sequel series so far. I personally think it sounds promising and I am hoping it will do some justice to some of mysteries left unanswered in the original series through flashbacks, if possible. Although how far in the future it is can also be bit of put down as I really would like to see some of old characters such as Zuko, Azula, Sokka, Katara, Toph, etc. And it wouldn't be much of stretch to have them alive considering Bumi was 112 in the original series and they would still be much younger than he was (And if he still alive, I think I might go crazy considering he is Aang's age and it would mean he outlived the Avatar, whom we assume died of natural causes in this case.). Still I would prefer that these characters just make cameos or mentions rather than become regular cast members of the new series as it would be cheap on the writers' part and they would just overshadow the new characters introduced for the series. But overall, I am looking forward to what they have in store for us.
Lego Set Suggestions?
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299Hey, BZPers. I am posting this blog entry here to find out which of this year's sets would be best for me to buy. So far, I am leaning toward possibly getting Toa Mata Nui (Mainly just for the Ignika since I miss out on last year's set with the Ignika.) and possibly one of the vehicle sets. My overall budget is around $45.17, so suggesting something that doesn't go over that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Why So Serious?
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299Hey, guys. As most of people, who saw the Dark Knight, can guess, I saw it last Friday. It was an okay movie in my opinion. I personally thought because I didn't see the previous movie and I was more into seeing Hancock than the Dark Knight. But I end up seeing the Dark Knight instead of Hancock, which I could avoid if I had spoken up in time to my father that I want to see that movie. Oh, well. At least, going to AMC to see movies like that is free for my family, considering my father has work part-time there for years; so chances are I could see Hancock, if it is still in theaters, the next time that he need to be called in. Anyway, not that I want to repeated what many others here have said, but I thought that actor, Heath Ledger, did a very good job as the Joker of the film and it is very sad that this was his last film before his death. I personally thought the Batman in this movie wasn't really the main focus in it, rather it more like the Joker was as he stole the spotlight throughout the movie. I like pretty much every scene that the Joker was in and I found the ending of the movie to be alright. That's really all that I thought of it. Just thought that I should let you all know. By the way, happy belated birthday, Bzpower.
Avatar: Last Airbender Finale Review
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299From the title, you can all guess that I watch yesterday's supposed finale for the series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. So, I decide to write up a review on this episode, but since I don't want spoil it for anyone, I am placing it in spoiler tag. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «To start up, it was one of the best Avatar episode that I have seen. It had plenty of bending action that made the two final battles look just plain awesome. And how Aang end the Phoenix King was just totally unexpected as I seriously thought Aang would suck up his pride and murder Ozai. But it just goes to show that Aang is even more of hero by not sinking to Ozai's level by killing him, even when Aang's previous selves were telling him to do so. But I am getting ahead of myself here, let us begin with the beginning of the episode. The beginning had the normal funniness of the series with such things as picture of Ozai as a baby and Sokka's sand sculpture of Suki's face. I couldn't but laugh at those moments and other things like most of Toph's comments. Of course, it start becoming more serious as it went along, since the final battles were seriously no joking matter. But that didn't stop the episode from being enjoyable to me as the action and Azula finally being push off the edge of what sanity that she had left made it quite an interesting episode. I personally like the scene in which Azula saw her mother behind her as I really thought she return to see her get crowned, but it just serve to show ever more how her friends' betrayal had made her lose her edge and eventually slip away from just being paranoid to complete insanity. With that, I can say I am seriously disappoint in not find out where Zuko's mother is as if this is the end, then we are just left to wonder if she even still live or that Fire Lord was even willing to let his wife live, after staging him to get crowned as Fire Lord. Another interesting scene that I like was Aang talking to his past lifes on what he should do against the Fire Lord as they all seen to tell him that killing Ozai was only way to win until he met with the Lion Turtle, who taught him a much more fitting punishment for Ozai; not being able to firebend no more. In my opinion, that way sounds more like what a true hero would do instead of descending to the level of the evil by killing them as they did others. Out of pretty much all the scenes, Aang's and Ozai's battle was by far the best. At first, it seen that battle was in favor of Ozai as he brought down many of Aang's defends and even force Aang to retreat into a stone ball. Once the heal cut had been hit as Aang was blast from the stone ball, Aang had serious thrown the scale of who was going to win to his side as in the Avatar State, he pretty much owned Ozai to point in which he could of kill him; had it not been of Aang's value of life. A few things that disappoint me was that we never heard the answer made by Zuko's father on his mother's location and that Koh was merely mention instead of explore some more, which make me wonder if this is truly the end as I doubt they just leave us hanging here. But hey, maybe I am wrong and just didn't have the time for that, so they didn't include it and left it for fans to think about. Overall it was a great episode, which make it sad that it is the end.
Poll About My Content Blocks Here...
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299No, I did not discover a way to make a poll in a blog entry, but I thought using word, 'poll' would attract more attention to my question in this entry. My questions are: - What you think of my new content block, the Countdown one? - Should I make more like that one? - Is any content blocks that you think I should just delete? So, basically this is an opinion entry to find out what you think of my content blocks here. Feel free to answer the questions. if you like.
Should I Renew My Premiership Here, When It Ends In August?
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299I been think lately that I am probably not going to renew my premiership here as it wasn't really what I expect it to be. I mean having a blog and extra personal message space is cool, but it really the only things that I use from the premiership. If I knew how to make polls, that would be something else to list as a reason to renew premiership, but I don't. So, I decide I am leaving it up to you all to decide if you want to see the Jedi Temple go on for another year. I know this is sort of early to ask you guys this, but it been bugging me as if I am going to renew it, I will need to save up some of money that I currently have to pay for it. Although I got say it will be tough for me to get Bionicle sets, if I do, as I will also want to renew the Brickmaster membership and as I don't have a job yet, this money can only come from two places, either my wallet or my bank account. I personally don't want take any money from my bank account though as I like to save that for my future in case I even need it for thing important like my education or a house. So, my wallet would be the only place that I probably take it from. Well, that's my question for my visitors. Thanks for taken the time to read about it.
Am I Too Polite?
Jedi Master J. posted a blog entry in blogs_blog_299As the title says, I just been wondering if people here think that I maybe too polite at times. I know it isn't really a bad thing being polite, but I can't help but feel that I maybe little too polite at times. *shrug* I guessing it just has to do with how I don't want to get anyone anger at me, so when ever I said things that I think could anger someone, I said sorry. So, if you all could answer this, I very much appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
