Who gave the crab dynamite?!

So, in this timeline, the toa metru don't ever come to existence, they just stay as matoran. Makuta terridax succeeds in erasing all the matoran's memory, even memory of their gender (matoran gender usually depends on their voice and element), explaining why korgot is a girl, and why the old jungle protector has a jungle tribe wife. Makuta somehow also steals the mask of creation, intending to use it sometimes in the future. He steals other ancient artifacts, including the mask of light - we will get to that later. In his time as dume, he learned a lot about matoran culture, and the art of mask making, and because he doesn't want to wait untill poor vakama makes the mask of time, he makes it himself, and succeeds. Now he is ready to wake up the matoran (now okotans) on the island of mata nui (now okoto, because he wants the matoran not knowing about mata nui, so they wouldn't revoult and want to return to his body) under his rule. He will provide them with masks of power, which they would use in daily life, and will keep the secret of mask making for himself. For thousands of years, he made all the masks himself. But one day, a ta matoran (actually just a av matoran in disguise) in an another world known as takua, but here going by the name ekimu, working for makuta as a janitor, finds the mask of light, but he accidentally knocks it into lava (no, now it isn't incased in stone) and that lava eventually flows to the place where he once comes through to become the toa of light (in journey to one). Not realising what he's done, and thinking it was just a normal mask, he keeps on working. Then makuta came into the room, and saw ekimu. Ekimu, interested in his art of mask making, asks if he could know how he makes those masks, and begs makuta to teach him his art of mask making. So, makuta, needing some help in his workshop, accepts him as his apprentice. They, for thousands of years made masks of power for all the okotans, but untill eventually makuta went insane, ekimu killed him, and the toa killed him again. The end. Some notes include culta and the skull villians being fallen toa, the skull spiders and LOSS being mutated visorak, and the elemental beasts being pure elemental rahi. This theory is definetly flawed, for instance, how the heck are okotans able to reproduce (we clearly know the jungle protector has a child, and in the webisodes the fire protector talks to his son) but let me know in the comments. -
What's your opinion on knockoffs? I'm talking about those nearly perfect duplicates you can find on sites like Wish, AliExpress, DHgate, and TaoBao. What do you think about them? I personally am not that big of a fan of them, but since G2 is so expensive, you pretty much have to buy them if you don't want to turn your wallet into a nuclear wasteland. Example below

Let me explain ... So there are obviously ridiculous amounts of parallels between G1 and G2, or not so much parallels as rehashes. But what if this wasn't just a marketing ploy, what if these connections actually hinted at something bigger? (Okay, they obviously don't, but it's pure headcannon from here on so sue me.) The way I see it, the whole of Gen-2 is actually a prequel to the original series. Ekimu is Artakha in disguise (this is far from big stretch, they both have the same mask and fulfil similar functions), and he created the whole of Okoto to test out the Toa Okoto (later to be Toa Mata) before deployment. The whole thing is one giant crash test. He knew they'd be up against Makuta, so he created a fake to serve as an enemy (along with fake matoran, fake adversaries, he's basically testing his creations). Nothing more to it really but it makes things very nice and neat in my head. Anyhooooo ...

Something that confused me about G2 of BIONICLE was their villain lineup. There always seemed to be for the main lineup (at least in G1) 6 heroes, and 6 villains, there were smaller supporting characters that could be heroes or villains (Bohrok Va, or Rahaga for example), and there might be more heroes and villains in the form of large titan/warrior sets as well, but for the most part, there were 6 heroes and 6 villains. (the exception to this was 2009 when with the glatorain, the heroes and villains were really mixed up, with the Skrall being the main baddies, and then minor villains in the story as well, e.g. Malum, Strakk, Vorox etc.) Come G2, you get the 6 toa and their smaller helpers, but you only get the LoSS, and little spiders mixed in with the Toa/protectors. Later in the year the skull villains are introduced and you have 4 sold individually. the fifth one is Skull Basher and he is sold with Ekimu so he's more of a titan set than stand alone. Fast forward to the 2nd year of G2 and you have the 6 toa and their critters, you have Umarak as the villain, but you only get 3 elemental creatures for the second wave. So what happened? Was it a marketing ploy? Were they winding stuff down that last year and decided "we only need 3 villains to fight the Toa."? What do you all think/know?

I've been prowling eBay, Bricklink, and Amazon for Bionicle G2. Obviously, I'm gonna give a pass to Amazon considering everything there is overpriced. However, G2 on eBay and Bricklink have seemed to increase tenfold ever since I last checked on them a few years ago. Why? If G2 was a true flop with few people buying it, why would it sell for so much on the aftermarket? G1 sells for relatively cheap, and that line and in an extent it's parts have been gone for almost a decade by now.

Hi, guys. It’s been 5 years since Bionicle G2 happened in 2015. I know that Bionicle is not there now and G2 cruelly got ended in 2016, but let’s be happy for the 5th anniversary of G2. To begin with, in 2014, at New York Comic Con in early October, Bionicle’s return was announced, but Bionicle came as a reboot (don’t leave G1’s unfinished story hanging). Of course, Bionicle was first cancelled in 2010, but we were extremely happy that Bionicle came back! Hero Factory disappeared in 2014 when it happened. G2 is a reboot of Bionicle, like The Amazing Spider-Man movie series in 2012-2014, where six magical and bio-mechanical heroes called Toa, who are versions of the Toa Mata from G1, saving the island of Okoto (it looks like the island of Mata Nui) from a villain named Makuta (a version of Makuta Teridax, but without the “The”) and his evil forces. They have to collect masks to do this, and they seek help from a dwarf-sized guy named Ekimu and other inhabitants. G2 lasted in 2 years rather than at least 3, sadly, so the story is short. There is the 2015 storyline and the 2016 storyline. Here are how the first and second yearly storylines happened: It all started in thousands of years ago, when Ekimu and Makuta are Mask Makers who make magical masks called the Masks of Power (G2’s own Kanohi) for Okoto’s people by using the island’s six elemental forces, Fire, Water, Jungle, Ice, Stone, and Earth. Ekimu’s masks are more treasured than Makuta’s, which made Makuta jealous, so Makuta turned evil. There was a sacred law that now Mask should have more than element, otherwise it would be dangerous, but Makuta broke the law by creating a mask called the Mask of Ultimate Power, the most powerful of all masks, and it contained all six elements. When he put it on, it took control over him and was destroying the island. Ekimu stopped him by knocking the Mask from Makuta’s face, but this kind of ruined the island and put Ekimu to a coma. Makuta disappeared, and the Mask Makers’ masks are scattered. Ekimu’s friends called the Protectors found Ekimu, who whispered the Prophecy of Heroes during his sleep, and then they put Ekimu’s body in a tomb. The masks have to be found. In 2015, in the present, the island is attacked by Skull Spiders, which are searching for the Golden Masks of Power. The Protectors’ latest descendants (their people can reproduce, like Agori) used the Mask of Time, which can see the future and was how Ekimu came up with the prophecy, in the Temple of Time to summon the Toa. The Toa came to Okoto like meteors, as each landed on one of six regions of Okoto that matches his or her element. They are called Masters in 2015. They are Tahu, the Master of Fire, Gali, the Master of Water, Lewa Jungle (rather than Air for some reason, but I can see that he went to the jungle region of Okoto, and it’s reasonable for the younger audience to see things, but it’s weird), Kopaka Ice, Pohatu Stone, and Onua Earth. When the Toa arrived, they couldn’t remember who they are. Each of the Toa meets the region’s Protector, who guides the Toa and leads it to its Golden Mask of Power hidden in a temple. The Toa got their Golden Masks and defeated the Skull Spiders while saving the Protectors’ lives from the spiders. They went to the City of the Mask Makers, where they must reawaken Ekimu. They saw each other for the first time. They fought some other Skull villains, which are the Lord of Skull Spiders, the leader of the Skull Spiders, Skull Warriors, Skull Slicer, and Skull Scorpios, while they learn to work together to be able to defeat their enemies. They found and reawakened Ekimu, who warns them that the Skull villains’ leader, Kulta the Skull Grinder, who is the main antagonist of the 2015 storyline, is going to destroy Ekimu’s mask called the Mask of Creation at his forge. The Toa rush to the forge to stop Kulta, defeating Skull Basher along the way, but Kukta uses the mask to become stronger in order to defeat the Toa and Ekimu. The Toa got weakened by Kulta, but Ekimu rebuilt his powerful hammer and then used to knock the mask from Kulta’s face and defeated him. Ekimu reclaimed the mask. The end of the storyline. This is primarily told through the 2015 online animations and a chapter book. Plus, a graphic novel to make things more specific. Before the 2016 storyline began, the Protectors fought more Skull villains. Then, the Toa and Ekimu fought Kulta again when he has more of his friends called the Skull Raiders to help him. This is told through two chapter books. In the 2016 storyline, the Toa became Uniters by getting new armor, masks, and weapons. The armor helps them control their powers better. Since the masks tell the Toa that there are the six Elemental Creatures needing help from getting captured by Umarak the Hunter and his robotic servants called Shadow Traps, and get the Golden Masks of Unity. Each Toa goes to its region to meet its Elemental Creature. The Creature challenges the Toa until the Toa figures that the Toa and Elemental Creature must work together. The Creature lets the Toa get the Mask. Then, the Toa is able to combine with the Creature by having the Creature attach to the Toa back, like a piggy back ride. The Toa learn from the Creatures telepathically that there is a maze that has Makuta’s mask called the Mask of Control (like in 2008 where the Av-Matoran can combine with the Toa Nuva by attaching their themselves to the Toa’s backs and then sharing their memories with the Toa). The Toa and Elemental Creatures went to find the maze, and then went inside it to find the mask. However, Umarak is in their tail and then took the mask from them because Makuta told him to. Makuta forces Umarak to be his servant by using the mask to turn Umarak into a bigger, more powerful and obedient monster called the Destroyer. Umarak unleashed Elemental Beasts to attack the city, so he can get the shattered pieces of the Mask of Ultimate Power (Ekimu shattered the Mask when he knocked the Mask from Makuta’s face. The mask’s power was too much for it, so it got shattered and then caused Ekimu’s coma. There is a flashback where Ekimu created the Toa’s Golden Masks with the help of the Protectors and Elemental Creatures because of the Prophecy, and Makuta was present the mask in Okoto’s Capital City before he put it on. This is shown in the second graphic novel). When the Uniters were protecting Ekimu’s city, he turned into a Toa of Light and has a seventh Elemental Creature named Agil to be his partner. The city’s people and the Uniters’ Elemental Creatures defend the city while the seven Toa go to find Umarak. They found Umarak in a crater where the incident with the Mask of Ultimate Power happened. They tried to defeat Umarak, but he’s too tough and smart. He is using the mask’s fragments to free Makuta from the Shadow Realm (when the Mask was shattered, it also tore a portal to the Shadow Realm that trapped Makuta and the Capital City in the Shadow Realm). Ekimu changed back while Agil disappeared for some reason during the battle. Gali accidentally had her soul sucked up by the portal. In the Shadow Realm, she learned the rest of the prophecy. When Umarak absorbed Ekimu’s powerful Light blast during Umarak’s ritual with the mask’s fragments and then Makuta cruelly sacrificed Umarak’s life to open the portal, Gali’s soul was able to come back and then went back to her body. She told the Toa that they must use their powers from within to trap Makuta again. Makuta tried to blast the Toa with a Shadow blast, but the Toa resisted it with their powers and then used them to defeat Makuta by pushing him back to the Shadow Realm and closed the portal to imprison him again. This caused the Toa to go back to the Elemental Stars for some reason (why not stay in Okoto like normal people?). However, they can come back when they are needed again. The End of the storyline. In fact, the end of G2. The storyline is told through a Netflix show called The Journey to One in 2016. Now, that’s the story. Let’s talk about the sets. The sets have CCBS (the system that Hero Factory introduced in 2011) and transparent pieces with various colors to represent energies coming from them. Most of them have gear functions, like the Toa Mata and Toa Nuva. They introduced masks with two things that attach to the cheek bones. The sets are bulky with a lot of parts and were expensive. Most of them came in hexagonal boxes. In 2015, the Masters have weapons that have two functions, one for fighting and one for travel, like the Toa Nuva. The Protectors introduced and use machine guns that shoot six studs. You can put the Protectors’ equipment on the Toa to “power the Toa up”. The Skull Spiders can be worn like masks. In 2016, you can combine the Elemental Creatures with either the Toa or Umarak by putting them on their hosts’ backs. Other sets have various functions, including tools that can remove masks from wearers. The sets borrowed a few stuff from Hero Factory and Ninjago. There is a lot more purple than in G1. There are combiner models, but they are not canon. Plus, there’s no combiner models for the Toa Mata’s fusions in G2, neither did the fusion appear in G2 for some reason. However, you can combine Onua Uniter and Umarak the Hunter to make a Shadow Spawn. You can also combine some sets to form Makuta. Speaking of Makuta, sadly, Makuta doesn’t have a set, and the Lego piece for the Mask of Ultimate Power doesn’t exist. There are two app games, Mask of Creation and Mask of Control. I’ve seen better games than these games. G2 is very different from G1 in many ways, but it’s classic that there is the Toa Mata as the main protagonist and Makuta as the main antagonist. There are some references to G1’s stuff. It’s nostalgia. There are various media, which largely involved artwork through Facebook. Now, how do I feel about G2. Well, I think it’s alright. I didn’t like the fact that it lasted 2 years (and I hate the fact that constraction is gone since 2018, and there is not replacement or Hero Factory G2), and the 2015 online animations and Netflix show are kind of wonky and rushed. The story is too simple, is the least good constraction theme, and there are a lot of questionable stuff hanging around. I kind of felt that G2 isn’t what Bionicle is naturally. It sort of feels like a stereotypical Saturday morning cartoon. I like the Toa, Ekimu, Makuta, and Umarak, though. Good thing that G2 has some G1 references. The sets are very great, though, and I love the use of colors for most of them sort of. However, some of them, like the Skull Creatures and the Elemental Beasts, are kind of wonky, and there are weird relationships between colors and story. The Toa Masters’ gear functions aren’t strong enough, like the Toa Mata. Some of them are unequal to each other, like Toa having their own rivals and infected masks. There’s no other G1 characters, either. Just people that we don’t know. To be honest, I like G1 a lot better than G2 because there are a lot of reasonable stuff in there. People say that classics are better. No doubt. Even though that G2 ended (that is extremely not fair because it just came back), many of the pieces introduced in there are used in other themes nowadays. I pray and wish that Bionicle comes back again (perhaps on 2021 to celebrate Bionicle’s 20th anniversary). Anyway, so, how do you feel about G2? What’s your favorite moment or set? What medium or media remind you of Bionicle G2? Whatever you like to think of. For me, I love Onua, Tahu, Umarak, and Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder. Happy 5th anniversary, G2! I collected all of the sets. The things that remind me are: Bionicle G1 - obviously. Lol. Hero Factory - the use of CCBS. Plus, the Elemental Beasts look like Aquagon and giant Jumper beasts. Umarak the Hunter looks like Black Phantom. Skull Basher reminds me of Pyrox. The Skull Spiders are kind of like the Arachnix Drone. The Quake Beasts are like Bruizer. Ninjago - skeletal villains, brothers having a feud, heroes with elemental powers, and a dark and shape-shifting lord who is in a dark realm. P.I.X.A.L.’s Samurai X mask in 2017 looks kind of like the Mask of Creation. Skull Slicer is sort of like Samukai. Ekimu is like Sensei Wu. The Amazing Spider-Man movie series in 2012-2014 - there are a lot of similarities. Plus, they look more realistic and reasonable. Ekimu’s and Makuta’s brother feud is sort of like Optimus Prime’s and Megatron’s feud. Umarak is sort of like Lockdown. Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017 - Megatron’s look reminds me of the Mask of Control. Marvel - the Toa are like the Avengers. Plus, Umarak the Destroyer is like the Abomination and Kurse. DC Comics - the Toa are like the Justice League, sort of. Plus, Umarak the Destroyer is like Doomsday. Samurai Jack’s Season 5 - the Scotsman has a machine gun that looks similar to the Protectors’ machine guns. Sonic Unleashed in 2008 - the Elemental Beasts’ faces look like Dark Gaia’s. Steven Universe Future - Steven Universe’s giant monster form reminds me of Umarak the Destroyer. In the main series, when Jasper turned into a big and corrupted monster, she looked kind of like Umarak the Destroyer. Power Miners - Umarak the Destroyer and the Elemental Beasts reminds me of the Rock Monsters and Lava Monsters. Plus, Jasper’s corrupted monster form reminds me of Umarak the Destroyer. Star Wars - Skull Slicer kind of reminds me of General Grievous. The Skull Warriors are kind of like the Stormtroopers. For how the Skull Grinder’s Mask is animated in the online animations, it looks like Darth Vader’s mask. The Lord of the Rings - the Lord of Skull Spiders is like of like those giant spiders. Skull Basher concept art makes him look kind of like an Orc. When the Skull Grinder wore the Mask of Creation and then hit all six Toa with one hit, he’s like Sauron. Toy Story - For how the Skull Grinder’s Mask is animated in the online animations, it reminds me of Zurg. Lego Legends of Chima - Using some pieces is one thing. The Elemental Creatures’ heads also look like the Eagle heads. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - the Turtles are like the Toa, Master Splinter is like Ekimu, and Makuta has claws on his left wrist that looks kind of like the Shredder’s. Ultimate Spider-Man TV show - Doctor Octopus is sort of like Makuta when he mutates someone and then turns him into his obedient servant.

I feel like there haven't been that many G2 Mocs after it ended a few years ago... let's fix that! this is Choroko a Protector of Water and the Daughter of Kivoda. she's probably my Favorite Protector Moc I have made and I hope you like her as well so yeah, hope you like the Moc!

Ride the crab? Yes or No? Ussal Crabs are a species of domesticated animal on Okoto commonly used to ferry passengers and cargo. One of the more famous crabs, Pewku started her career as a racing crab used by the future captain of the Ussalry the earth villager Onepu. A common example of her species, Pewku with careful training and skill went on to become an early champion of many Ussal races in the years prior to the arrival of the Toa. The crab was outfitted with special racing colors, a blue and yellow scheme in contrast with her natural brown and black colors; and was a crowd favorite in many races. However, the increasing threat of the Skull Spiders forced Pewku into retirement. After the Skull Spider and other threats had passed; Pewku had grown to old for the racing circuit and Onepu retired the crab for his current purple armored mount. Pewku had been sold to Midak, an earth villager who used the aging crab in a subterranean taxi servic. Eventually though the Ussal caught the eye of wander-prone fire villager Takua; who purchased her. For several years after the Defeat of Makuta, Takua and his partner the famed archaeologist Harvali used Pewku as a mount to carry equipment and tools during their frequent explorations across Okoto's wilderness. Since Harvali departed over the seas several years ago searching for the lost continent to the east, Takua has kept the crab at his home on the outskirts of the Fire Village, on occasion using her to carry musical equipment for his band "The Chronicler's Company." Pewku is a character I have long wanted to do in CCBS, but I have yet to have a spark of inspiration on how to tackle the crab. I felt that if I were to do Pewku, I'd have to make her large like her 2003 set was; and wasn't particularly looking forward to investing so many parts into one character. Well today I got the idea to check my parts bin, and noticed the Star Wars back piece designed to fit over a Toa Master's gearbox, made for a really decent crab shell shape. The rest just started to flow from there. Yes, the crab has only four legs instead of six, but I am happy to have a smaller build more reminiscent of Pewku's MNOG appearances. Yes, just barely big enough to fit a G2 villager figure on her back too; with enough attachment points I could feasibly add a cart or something in the future. Pretty happy with how this small build turned out.

This is the first of many G2 MOCS I have already posted on my Twitter account (@CyclonatorZ). They are part of a G2 headcanon I have devised that throws out basically everything written by a third party (so, yeah, pretty much everything other than the shorts.), and also changes or expands upon many other story elements. My Kopaka is based heavily on the Warcraft character Jaina. I got the inspiration from the massive shoulder pads both Kopaka Master and Kopaka Uniter with Ketar have. (Please excuse the slightly poor quality of the picture. This was the first I took using my smartphone camera. I've gotten much more adept at using it since then.)

I recently decided to give my old "G2 Toa of Time" MOC a bit of a makeover - thought I'd post a new topic for the result. This was my entry for the MOC category in BZPower's The Legend Continues contest from a couple years ago, titled "Bingzak, Toa of Time" (it managed to secure third place in the first round - one place to low to advance, but still, it's something ). I was going for what a G2 Toa of Time would look like, with the idea being that Bingzak would, similarly to Takua in G1, acquire a legendary mask and be transformed into a 7th Toa. The top half of the Mask of Time is from Shapeways. I usually avoid using 3D-printed pieces, but this was sort of a special case - since the theme of the contest was "stuff you wanted to see happen if G2 continued," I really wanted to do something with the Mask of Time halves. I'm pretty pleased with how the updates came out (particularly in regards to his "shield"), but any feedback is welcome!

Allow me to explain my issue. At the moment I have an entire collection of G2 bionicle sets. It's still in very good condition and I am debating with myself if I should sell it or not. I spent hundreds getting the collection together. However much like many things from over the years it nowadays sits in a plastic container like my all my other Lego from 15 years ago. I have been a bionicle fan since the age of around 3 and a half and the series always meant a lot to me. So for that reason I went to great efforts to support it's reboot. However now that the initial excitement for it's comeback has died down I see a lot of the reboot's flaws and don't have as much of a positive outlook on it. If I sell it in it's current state not only can I get a lot of money I can also stop it from taking up space in the future. My older sets are all in terrible condition and as such are tough sells. But there is still some emotional connection for me and I do fear regretting this decision in the future. So I wonder if anyone here has any advice on if I should sell my G2 collection or not.

Hi, guys! Anyway, we know that in Bionicle: The Journey to One where Umarak the Destroyer was destroyed when he did Makuta’s command to do a ritual involving the pieces of the Mask of Ultimate Power to open a portal, Makuta destroyed Umarak to complete the portal (some friend that Makuta is). Plus, Umarak couldn’t be defeated by the Toa when they lost Gali and couldn’t use their elemental powers or Elemental Creatures. But, have you ever wondered how could the Destroyer be defeated by a hero or more? To be honest, Umarak is super-tough like Doomsday from DC Comics and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie in 2016 and Abomination from Marvel and The Incredible Hulk movie in 2008. Umarak is like the only villain in Bionicle in general that couldn’t be defeated by a good guy. Well, I could come up with some logical ways to defeat the Destroyer: 1. All six Toa (or with Ekimu in his Toa form) could do the combining-their-power move that they did to Makuta, if they had figured that out earlier. 2. Ekimu would do his powerful Light attack with Agil again. 3. Bring the Elemental Creatures. 4. Summon an army to fight Umarak 5. Do a teamwork move. 6. Remove the Mask of Control from Umarak (that was shown in the Mask of Control app game) 7. Have the Toa became G2’s Toa Nuva somehow. 8. Find G2’s own Mask of Dimensional Gates/Olmak to banish Umarak to another dimension. Well, I also came up with a silly way, which to find the Olmak to summon some character powerful, like Superman from DC Comics, the Hulk from Marvel, Sonic the Hedgehog from the Sonic the Hedgehog (possibly in his Super form), Mario from the Mario franchise, Wreck-It Ralph from the Wreck-It Ralph movie, the Alpha 1 team from Hero Factory, the Ninja from Ninjago, some animal warriors with Chi from Legends of Chima, or the Nexo Knights from the Nexo Knights franchise, to help defeat Umarak, but that’s just being silly unless you do a crossover or shared universe idea. I also know that Umarak’s demise was a part of the prophecy, but, again, have you ever wondered how can the Destroyer be defeated by the Toa and Ekimu? I’m just talking about a possibility (it’s like talking about an alternate ending). What are your thoughts, guys? EDIT: If you’re not sure about this topic’s title, you could say that what I mean by that is “How can Umarak be defeated by the good guys?”

Title covers my main question: are the characters in G2 - Toa, Protectors, Okotan villagers, Mask Makers, Skull Raiders, Elemental Creatures, etc. - biomechanical? Or perhaps fully organic but wearing armor? They have to at the very least be somewhat organic as they can reproduce biologically. I can't seem to find an official answer anywhere and so wanted to pose the question here. Thanks!

Few legends told on Okoto have prompted as many young and brash adventurers into scouring the island in the face of danger as the Legend of Eora. Generations before the time of Ekimu, another Mask Maker worked the great forge, whose daughter was known across the island for her beauty. The already overprotective father was driven to madness by the never-ending flow of suitors, leading him to forge a mask for Eora which would send her into a deep sleep while preserving her life and youth. He hid her away and a secret cavern, and decreed that any suitor can prove their worth by finding her and waking her up.Unfortunately, the father was too cautious, and Eora wasn't found within his lifetime, or even since. Legend has it she's still sleeping somewhere on Okoto, waiting for an adventurer to awaken her... --- This MOC is less about the build, which is your standard Protector, and more about colors and posing. INTRODUCTION: I had never believed in Toa. It may seem like a strange thing for an okotan to say, but always thought it was another story, a bunch of mumbo jumbo based off of the ramblings of an elder who had eaten too much gullok fruit. That all changed, one fateful day. Seeing that you sat through the first paragraph, I should probably share the Legend of The Toa. My Dad, the protector of Le-Koto, has told it a bajillion times around the public campfire, to all the okotans in our village. Long ago, there were these two brothers, named Ekimu and Makuta. They made masks for our people, and we all prospered. We made a huge city on our island home, called the capital. But Makuta was jealous of his brother's talent. He started fusing masks of different elements, like fire and water, earth and ice, stone and jungle (I bet you can see from here how that turned out). But he wanted more. Makuta made a mask breaking all of the ancient laws, a mask of all elements, a mask of "Ultimate Powah" as he called it. He took it to the capital, hoping to get at least some followers on his facebook page. Ekimu, hoping to correct his brothers wrong-doing and terrible English, followed him. But by the time he arrived at his brother's demonstration, it was to late. Makuta had put on his great mask, and Ekimu had no choice but to duel him. Ekimu won, but the capital and Makuta were banished to another dimension, a shadow dimension. As for Ekimu, he was placed into a deep sleep forever, that is, until the Toa came. Makuta eventually extended his influence beyond the shadow realm. He created an army of skull spiders and undead skeletons, and they terrorized the okotans. Only six heroes could defend the island. And as an answer to our hopes and prayers, they came. No one knows where they came from. But as soon as they found the great masks, hidden around the island, they kicked some serious Makuta tushy, and awoke Ekimu. Makuta realized he needed more. He created a being much more powerful than any Toa, a merciless hunter named Umarak. The Toa found new allies in the elemental creatures, but they did not prevent Umarak from winning back the mask of control, Makuta's first mask. Okay now, deep breath. Makuta mutated Umarak into a monster. While his thugs attacked the city of the mask makers, between Le and Ga Koto, Umarak found Makuta's first mask, and returned it to Makuta. Makuta had been changed into a giant, and now he had an army, so it would be impossible to stop him once he got out of the shadow realm, via the dark portal. But the Toa used all their elemental energy united to stop him, even at the cost of their lives. What happened next? The elders are convinced they ascended to the stars above the island, but I'm not sure. It's just another mystery of life we will never uncover. The creatures? They left without a trace a month after the Toa disappeared. The masks the Toa discarded when they found the golden masks are gone too. No one knows where they went. Anyway, my story starts one hundred years after the disappearance of the Toa and their creatures. I'm Trilek, heir to the Le-Koto Protector seat in the council of elders, all around cool kid, etc. I'm only thirteen years old, but my dad still lets me ride razor raptors occasionally. I have an eight year old little brother named Kevaku. He's okay, as far as little brothers go. I never knew my mom, but dad says she was the most beautiful Okotan ever. I miss her, and wherever she is, I hope she's fine. I don't know how I can feel love for someone I've never met, but she's my Mom. Anyway, get ready for a legend that goes beyond what we have known, in fact, beyond Okoto itself.

We're on the tail end of what should have been the third year of Bionicle G2, and there's a high chance that the theme is gone for good. My personal hopes to the contrary notwithstanding, that is what the biggest likelihood is. I'm not here to debate whether it will ever return, or if it even should, but rather to look back and ask what it meant to my fellow BZPowerians. Not just G1 or G2, but Bionicle as a whole. Was it just a cool looking toyline for you, or more? Did you collect the figures without much care for the story? Was it the other way around, with the world and lore gripping you without feeling a need to own the sets? Do you have some kind of emotional connection to it or was it just a cool hobby that you don't particularly mind having passed? Did you collect the sets for their own sake, or was it to get parts for MOCs? For me, I feel I got more attached to Bionicle than I maybe should have, but there's a reason for that - it was one of the very few positive aspects of a tough and dark childhood. It helped me cope during the hard times, and I've grown a great deal of appreciation for both the sets and the storyline. I replay MNOG once every year, almost always listen to the soundtrack of the films or games when writing, frequently build MOCs and try to engage with what remains of the community as an effort to contribute to keeping it alive. When Bionicle got cancelled (both times) I added my voice to the crowd saying that the fans can and should keep it alive, and BZP is the epitome of that. I've been lurking since ~2004, so this site has become entwined with my perception of Bionicle as a whole. Making a product line which ultimately serves as a source of income for a corporation part of your identity is silly and childish, but as a child Bionicle made such an impression on me that it still lingers. I still read the books, am fascinated by the unique world and setting of it. The various characters, the deep lore and intriguing locations always fascinated me. I still strive to complete my collection of sets, and am quite close, but as the years go by achieving that goal becomes harder and harder. Whenever I engage with Bionicle in any way (MOCing, playing one of the game, watching the films, etc) I always eventually reach a point where I just wish there was more to explore, and more coming. The anticipation of images for next year's sets, reading the comics and seeing as the story develops, speaking with other fans about set design or how we imagine upcoming sets will look like based on hints and leaks, discussing the way the story is progressing - I miss all that. G2 brought it back briefly, but was marred by so many fans disliking it, and it was taken away again far too soon. Right now the soundtrack of the films is running in another tab, and is likely influencing my starting of this thread, but I'm curious to know how big a thing Bionicle was in the lives of other fans, and what it means to them.

Since Bionicle G2 was horribly cancelled, I started to compare to a movie franchise called The Amazing Spider-Man movies in 2012 and 2014 (you ever heard about them?). I noticed that there are some similarities between the two franchises, and they are: 1. Both are rebooted 2010s versions from the original 2000s versions that are modernized, used for younger audience, came around five years after the cancellations of the 2000s versions, got cancelled after two years since they started, and lasted shorter than their 2000s versions. 2. Each of both 2000s versions have good and bad reviews in their last installments before they got rebooted. 3. Companies who made the 2000s versions couldn't continue them, so that's why they made the reboots. 4. Each of the 2010s versions have two storylines. Bionicle G2 has two story years while The Amazing Spider-Man series has two movies. 5. Both the 2010s versions were planned to last longer, but they were stopped as they got cancelled. 6. Both the 2010s versions use different actors to play their recycled characters, as well as the characters are and look different from their 2000s versions. 7. Both the 2010s versions use new characters as well as the old ones. 8. Both have main protagonists who learn how to be a hero and how to use their powers. The Toa had to learn that they have to fight evil to save Okoto, use their weapons, elemental powers, and masks. Peter Parker from TASM learns to become Spider-Man after he got spider-powers by learning how to use them and it is his self-given duty to save and protect people from threats. 9. The heroes from both franchises change suits and get new equipment. 10. Most of each of the 2010s franchises' villains are new and the main antagonists are old ones from the 2000s franchises, but look different and have different lives. 11. The heroes get ordinary people to support them in their adventures. 12. The heroes determine to know the truth that is related and personal to them. The Toa want to learn about their past while Peter wanted to learn about his parents' disappearance. 13. Both the 2010s franchises have funny and agile heroes, who are Lewa and Spider-Man. 14. Both show more funny scenes than their 2000s counterparts. 15. The Lord of Skull Spiders and the Lizard from the first The Amazing Spider-Man movie are the first villains to be fought by the heroes, as well as they both attract creatures relating to them. The LoSS attracts the Skull Spiders while the Lizard attracts normal and smaller lizards. 16. Umarak is like the villains from TASM movies combined. Umarak is like Electro and the Rhino when he is hired by the main villain to help them (Umarak was hired by Makuta to get his Mask of Control while Electro and Rhino are hired by the Green Goblin to help him). The main villain also enhances them with things (Umarak got enhanced when Makuta used the Mask to turn him into his Destroyer while Harry Osborn (before he turned into the Green Goblin) gave Electro a suit to help him with his powers and Rhino with a giant metal suit to destroy Spider-Man). Umarak the Hunter is like the Green Goblin when he is a smart, green-armored guy who threatened to drop a good-hearted character that a hero cares off a tall structure in front of the hero (In this case, Umarak threatened to drop Ketar off a tall cliff in front of Pohatu while the Goblin threatened to drop a girl named Gwen Stacy from a tall tower in front of Spidey). When Umarak became the Destroyer, he is like the Lizard by being mutated with claws, Electro by being a mutated (never wanted to be mutated before the mutation happened) villain who has the most screen time than the other villains in the second installment and gets killed in the end, the Green Goblin by not wanting to be mutated into a freak, and the Rhino by being large and dangerous who appeared like that in the end of the second installment. 17. Pohatu and Spider-Man had to attempt to save beings that they cared from falling to their deaths. However, Pohatu saved Ketar while Spider-Man couldn't save Gwen, who is his girlfriend (Gwen died, and that was as traumatizing as Bionicle G1's and G2's cancellations). Plus, it's interesting that both Pohatu and Peter's names both start with a "P", and Ketar element, Stone, is the same as the actress who played Gwen, Emma Stone's last name. Lol. 18. Makuta is like the Rhino and Green Goblin combined. Makuta got mutated by the Mask of Ultimate Power while Harry Osborn was given a serum that turned him into the Green Goblin. They became stronger and got new armor and powers. They also both appear, fought and get defeated by the heroes and at the very end of the second installments and the entire stories (not too impressed, in my opinion). Makuta and Rhino are also big and last villains in the second installments and the entire stories to be fought by the heroes (Makuta got defeated while Rhino's battle with Spider-Man was never concluded sadly). 19. They both have a grudge against the heroes before they got mutated. Makuta was jealous of Ekimu, so he created the Mask of Ultimate Power and was trying to use it, but Ekimu stopped him by knocking the mask off from his face. Makuta later turned evil and wanted to defeat Ekimu and the Toa when he could get out of the Shadow Realm. Harry asked Spider-Man if Spider-Man could help him cure his disease, but Spidey declined, so Harry hated him and turned evil. 20. Stories from both the 2010s stories have shadowed villains who secretly serve as major threats to the heroes. Makuta is sort of like that before revealing his giant form while a man in the shadows in TASM movies works with Harry in creating the Sinister Six and defeating Spider-Man. 21. Both second installments sadly show major female characters with heroic hearts die in the end. In the 4th episode of The Journey to One, Gali died by having her soul sucked into the Shadow Realm, but the soul returned to her body, so she's alive again. Gwen, however, died from a fall from a tall clock building in the end of the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and stays dead (Poor girl. Why can't she be like Gali by being still alive? ). Also, Gali's and Gwen's names both start with a "G" and have four letters in each name. Lol. (To be honest, I originally thought that Pohatu is going to die instead of Gali because Gwen's actress, Emma Stone's last name is the same as Pohatu's element. Lol. Plus, Pohatu would have sacrificed himself to try to make up for his mistake of letting Umarak the Hunter take the Mask of Control when Umarak, as the Destroyer, proves too powerful for the Toa to defeat.) 22. Each of the rebooted franchises has both good and bad reviews and their stories are a bit rushed, which could be reasons why they are infamously cancelled. That really broke my heart twice. (crying in tears of sadness). When some people say that after their cancellations, they feel that the rebooted franchises could be sort of forgotten. 23. Both rebooted franchises include powerful guys using hi-tech-looking jet-like machines to fly, they ride them with their feet, and use blades. In this case, Bionicle G2's Pohatu uses his boomerangs as gliders on his feet while he carries a dagger while The Amazing Spider-Man 2's the Green Goblin, well, use a glider to fly and a strange-looking blade. 24. Both 2010s franchises involved abnormal spiders with powers. In Bionicle 2015, there are skull-shaped spiders called the Skull Spiders, which can mind-control people when they attach to their faces. In the first The Amazing Spider-Man movie in 2012, there is a radioactive or genetically-altered spider that bit Peter Parker by the hand and gave him spider-powers. When I look at characters, it goes like this: Spider-Man = the Toa (Mostly Lewa. Lol. ) Gwen = Gali The Lizard = the Lord of Skull Spiders Electro = Umarak The Rhino = Umarak the Destroyer The Green Goblin = Makuta Spider-Man's Uncle Ben = Ekimu (Important old people. Lol. ) So, guys, what do you think? Good comparisons? Plus, do you think that Lego probably took inspiration from TASM series to make bionic G2 before TASM series was cancelled (That kind of would be called a weak inspiration since both franchises are cancelled similar), or is it just coincidence (I feel most likely)?
