Hey guys! While the buzz around the recently rediscovered and restored Legend of Mata Nui game isn't at its height anymore, following months of research and a pair of interviews, a lengthy article I wrote about the game was published just now. For those of you who followed the events surrounding the game's re-emergence, there might not be too much new in there, but I did get an exclusive interview with Darvell Hunt, a programmer who worked for Saffire and on the LOMN project way back when, and there are other interesting tidbits in there. You can give it a read here: http://quillstreak.com/index.php/2018/09/15/bionicle-legend-mata-nui/ I'd be glad it hear what you think!

I never thought I’d see the day. An actual, official soundtrack release for Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui. This album is everything I’ve ever wanted. One of the best and most underappreciated film scores of all time is finally accessible as a stand-alone product, and sounds better than ever in its remastered glory. Easily my favorite music album of the year (and this year’s had some pretty great music). I realize that not everyone has gotten around to listening to it yet, but to those of you who have and feel like sharing: Do you have a favorite track or favorite set of tracks from the score? If so, what are they? If you remember some of my posts from a few years ago (back when my username was IAmGroot) you may already know what my favorite track is. It is, of course, “Island of Mata Nui”. I believe this to be one of the most beautiful and epic pieces of film music ever. The whole ending scene is honestly one of my favorite moments in cinematic history primarily because of the score. It’s been one of my most-desired pieces of music from the Bionicle films for years, and here it finally is along with the rest of this amazing soundtrack. But I would be remiss if I didn’t make a few other honorable mentions: “Legends of Metru Nui / Toa Stones” “Faithful Matoran to Mighty Toa” (This track is just…wow) “Follow the Light / Mask of Time” “Lhikan’s Death / Vakama’s Power Found” (So many feels) “Lhikan’s Theme Sketch” (I’m sure we all remember letting the menu loop play over and over again just to listen to this gorgeous little piece) The unused “Kikeinalo” theme is also a fun one. It'll be interesting to hear Nathan Furst's unused Roodaka sketch when Web of Shadows comes out. Feel free to respond with your favorite track or set of tracks. I’m interested to know which particular tracks you were most eager to listen to before they were released and which you enjoy listening to the most now. As a side note, I was slightly jarred when I realized that this release isn’t quite the complete score like the Mask of Light release was. Ultimately, however, I don’t mind too much because all the stuff I really wanted to hear (and more) is included, and there’s not much else missing that can’t be uploaded for streaming (or, preferably, released as an extended play). As far as I know, this is all of the omitted music (excluding whatever else Furst composed that was cut from the film): - The Great Disks montage (everything after Vakama's second vision and before the Coliseum scene) - Escape from Le-Metru and journey to Po-Metru (everything after the Toa evade the Dark Hunters by jumping into the chute and before their arrival in Po-Metru) - Escaping with the Matoran (everything from when they retrieve Matoran capsules to when Matau drives into the water) - A fairly brief section seems to have been cut from "Heart of Metru Nui", unless it just wasn't intended as part of the original track and was edited in for the film. It includes the part where they break into the Coliseum in their vehicle (I forget the name of it) as well as the Toa's exchanges of banter during the drive. - This is really nitpicky, but there’s also a brief choir from the opening theme that plays when Lhikan engraves the three virtues symbol into the Toa stone. Admittedly though, I prefer the bit of music that takes its place on the OST version as it makes the track seem a bit more whole.

Hi, so after seeing XONAR's post about a Bionicle 2001 website recreation, I decided to try recreating it myself. Seeing that I was a regular on the site, I remember a lot of details about the site that you couldn't know unless you had been on the website. I cant animate it or anything, but I can tell you the basic functions. I have been recreating the site in Microsoft Word. I would be using PhotoShop, but the only computer with it is my Dad's and its like 3 hours away from my house. I'll buy it soon though... So, I am going to attach the work that I have done, I have the Rahi/Makuta/Mata-Nui done, but thats it as of late. I am working on the Toa/Turaga/Kanohi/Software. I'll keep you posted! https://www.mediafire.com/folder/vk5xrn9pdcyff/Bionicle_Website_2001

A topic to discuss the unreleased and as yet unleaked Bionicle game that was set to define the canon of Bionicle. First of all let me reiterate that this is not a begging thread and is only to be used for concise communication that will hopefully lead to the eventuality of this game being made playable in some form. While there have been many topics like this before, I wish to cut through the fluff that previous threads have had and make this a launching point for action. JrModelMasterBuilder and co. spoke of some leads in early to mid 2014. The first port of call would be discussing these leads.

What are the moments or things from the bionicle DVDs you didn't like? I always thought that the lack of elemental powers in the second movie was weird. Why didn't Lhikan use his powers to escape? He could've just shot a fireball at Krekka and Nhidiki to slow them down, buying him more time to escape. He could've also at least been kind enough to tell one of the matoran like Nokama what they can do as toa and have them pass on their knowledge to the others. I also found it stupid that the Toa Metru ran off without taking a few minutes to see what they can do as toa.

The other day I had a chance to sit down and watch the "Metru Nui duology" (LoMN and WoS) back-to-back, saving the LoMN epilogue for the very end of both films. Upon doing this, and looking up what I could find on BS01 about the subject, a question occurred to me: What exactly was stopping the Turaga and Matoran from going back to Metru Nui at any time, either just after awakening the Matoran or after Makuta's defeat in '01? Obviously the Visorak were infesting the city for a while, but Vakama took care of that problem...so they spent 1,000 years on Mata Nui building their villages and such, only to THEN go back and rebuild the city. Why not just start rebuilding Metru Nui to begin with? Thoughts? Lewa0111 Nuva

I am now in direct contact with many of the original developers of LOMN. For the sake of anonimity (can't have everybody spamming them) lets call the first one Pohatu. Pohatu told me that the game was canceled mainly for budget reasons. NOT the glitches. They could have fixed those glitches in a week max. "911 didn't help the economy either" so those people who claimed that 911 had some role to play in this were right. He reffered me to some other people who might the a copy of the game but thats a "work in progress"... Please post questions and I will answer them.

The most disappointing thing to me was when Legends of Mata Nui was cancled

What would you have liked to see more of in the Mata Nui online game? The game was a masterpeice in almost every way, almost. I personally would have liked to see more of the Toa and them actually finding the masks. Also, I would have liked to see a little more of Le-Koro/Wahi.

Do you think that we, the community, will ever see BIONICLE: The Legend of Mata-Nui? Or even a remake...
