  1. It's N7 Day and the cinematic trailer for Mass Effect Andromeda released! I can't wait for this game and am really looking forward to the open world experience Bioware has built. From gameplay we've seen, it looks like a combination of the mechanics/map layouts of Dragon Age Inquisition, combined with combat elements geared towards 3rd person shooters. Really excited to see when this game comes out! Though I'm not pre-ordering the Deluxe edition. Pretty much only multi-player perks.
  2. Cerberus Forces Cerberus ground troops, including Kai Leng. Atlas Mech The heavy mech used by Cerberus, with articulated joints and a canopy that opens as in the game. That scene on Mars... "Oh God...he looks like a Husk!" I just realised I hadn't posted these on BZP yet, so here they are. For anyone who's unfamiliar with Mass Effect, Cerberus are a ruthless pro-human organisation. The protagonist, Commander Shepard, works for them during the second game, but they show their true colours in Mass Effect 3 and become one of the main enemy factions. On the topic of the Atlas: It's not perfect, since I tried to build it using only parts I already owned: it's a bit blocky, a bit bigger than minifig-scale, and the upper-back needs bulking out. I may make a revised version at some point. Comments & constructive criticism always welcome
  3. After quite a delay, here are my next eight Mass Effect minifigs. They're all humanoid this time around, so no exciting builds, but I've expanded my decal-making abilities to include custom faces, which you'll see on all but one (Miranda) of this wave. I've yet to quite perfect the proportions, so I'll hopefully improve on that by my next wave. Each figure has two photos linked: the first is their main pic, the second is a small collage of alternate views. More information about each figure can be found on their Flickr descriptions. Comments and criticism much appreciated! 4. Mass Effect is my all-time favourite video game series, and if there's one franchise I'd love to see in Lego form, that's it. Since TLG don't seem to be going about acquiring that particular contract any time soon, I thought I might as well try my hand at decal design and make my own! This is the result of my work so far; the first 'wave' of my Mass Effect minifigs, if you like. I admit that there's not much building involved in these figs; most of the design is in the decals and customs. I don't claim to be much of an artist, but I've always had a thing for pixel and vector art, and I'm quite pleased with how they turned out but I'd love to get some feedback. 5. [flickr set] (haha just kidding this is a joke entry my real one is over here)
  6. Front View Sides & Back The First Minifig Spectre This is the first of a series of Mass Effect minifigures I've been designing. Info about the fig can be found on Flickr via the above links (if this isn't allowed, please PM me and I'll copy-paste and/or edit). Comments & constructive criticism welcome.
  7. Mass Effect: Division Many thousands of years ago an old culture struggled against an ancient enemy. They were the Protheans. Their adversaries were the Reapers. The Reapers were a machine race that “harvested” advanced races and stored the races in the form of a Reaper every 50 thousand years. The Old Machines were all the harder to defeat because of Indoctrination, an insidious process that makes the victim serve the Reapers. Indoctrinated agents sabotaged many Prothean attempts at survival, including one to plant 1 million Prothean warriors to survive the primary invasion. Just when the Protheans thought all was lost, they completed a device. One that dated back to the first civilization harvested by the Reapers. The Protheans realized that the Catalyst, the last part they needed, was the Citadel, a space station the Reapers had built as part of their trap and the former seat of the Prothean government. The Protheans gathered their remaining strength and made a final push to the Citadel. They attached the Crucible, as they had dubbed the device, to the Citadel. It fired, but was too damaged to, or it never could, tell friend from foe. The Reapers were wiped out, but at a great cost. Civilization was lost once more. 3 thousand years ago, the Asari discovered the Citadel and settled in. The Salarians, an amphibious race, soon followed. The Council was formed by these two species. Many races joined the Council as they discovered the Citadel. The honor of making the Council's decisions was left to the Asari and Salarians, but the others could propose ideas and ask for the council's help. This system lasted for many years, eventually giving the avian Turians a seat to serve as the primary military. But peace was not to last. The quarians, a race based on Rannoch, built an AI race named the geth to serve them. Eventually the geth achieved sentience, the quarians panicked and tried to shut the robots down. The geth fought back, trying to survive against their creators. The quarians asked the Council to help. No help came. Instead, the Council stripped the quarians of their embassy. The “lesser races” (Non-council seat species) began to grow restless. In 2157 a new race leapt on the scene with a bang. The turians discovered them trying to activate a dormant Mass Relay, which was forbidden under Council law. The humans (as this race was called) fought hard, surprising everyone with their military power. The Council stepped in to negotiate a peace treaty, but was startled when 3 different leaders showed up. The humans were more fractured than any race the Council had ever met. When the Council saw the armada the humans had brought with them, however, they decided it was probably best they were fractured. Over the next decade, the Council did its best to make the humans divided. A quarian hacker by the name of Tali'Zorah found this out, and was barely rescued by a human named Commander Shepard. When this discovery leaked, the lesser races had enough of the Council and its manipulating. They left. The humans swore off the Council, and a barely kept peace exists between the Council, humans, and the ISA, as the rebel races call themselves. Further complicating this is the final faction, the Krogan and Rachni, which only recently appeared. Welcome to ME: D The world of Division is one of strained peace at best. Beings fight to preserve what shaky alliances they have, ambassadors try to form new bonds while Spec Ops try to destroy their enemies. Who are you? A hero? A man who gets the job done, no matter the cost? Or someone just out to survive? Factions There are 4 major factions, with 3 subfactions under human. Of course, you don't have to side with the faction your character's race is listed under, or even with a faction at all. Just note that most factions don't like members of enemy species. Each race has an image linked, courtesy of the wiki. Also, please read the codex article for the race you plan on using if you've never played the game. The Codex is linked below under Locations. InterSpecies Alliance (ISA) The ISA was formed by its constituent races after their rebellion against the Council. Their government is one not unlike the USA's senate, with each race sending a delegation to their meetings. Said meetings take place on the recently built space station Unity. The ISA has the biggest conglomerate fleet, but this is trumped by how many are quarian liveships. Major constituent races: Quarians Homeworld: Rannoch, though few living quarians have ever set foot there. A synthetic race, the Geth, drove them off and promptly entrenched. Few Geth have been seen since. Instead, most quarians are nomads, living on the Migrant Fleet. Volus Homeworld: Irune. An inhospitable place, with an ammonia atmosphere and high gravity. Only volus can live here comfortably. The Hanar Homeworld: Kahje The Drell Homeworld: The Drell live on the Hanar homeworld. Elcor Homeworld: Dekuuna The Humans The humans consist of a shaky political alliance between the democratic US, the communist USSR, and the socialist EU. Each sends their leader to a triumvirate. Most meetings end in yelling, but war is not forthcoming. The Soviets Domain: Asia and Australia. The USA Domain: All of the Americas. The European Union Domain: Europe and Africa. The Council The Council is three members, one of each race, elected by their people. Asari Homeworld: Thessia. Salarians Homeworld: Sur'Kesh Turians Homeworld: Palaven The Kroni The krogan are governed by clan leaders, while the Rachni are a hive mind dominated by their queens. How exactly they are cooperating is unknown. Please note that the Rachni wars never happened without Reaper indoctrination. Krogan Homeworld: Tuchanka. A massive dust ball, devastated by nuclear bombs. Rachni Homeworld: Suen NOTE: The picture above of the Rachni is one of many types. Profile rules Post your profile in the discussion topic and wait for staff approval before posting as that character. Alternatively you can send your profile to a staffer by PM. Staff need another staffer's approval for characters. See the power list for rules about biotics and the like. The character limit is currently seven. Dead characters do not count toward your limit, the bounds are here to prevent character neglect. Name: An actual name, please. No usernames. Ideally one fitting with that species' name type. Species: Any sentient, non-extinct species from the Mass Effect universe is allowed, but you are encouraged to use one of those listed in the faction section above. No Thresher Maws. Age: Self explanatory. Just keep in mind that some races, like krogan and asari, live to be at least a thousand, while Salarians only live to be 40. Gender: Male, Female, Indeterminate. Faction: List is up there. Class: There are six classes to chose from for biotic, tech, and combat characters. Ambassadors and the like probably won't have implants, but if you want abilities you need to pick a class. Abilities: Rules on abilities are in the ability section. Weapons and armor: Self-explanatory. Keep in mind the weight limit. Skills: What your character is good at. Personality (optional): How your character acts. Appearance: What your character looks like. Ship specifications: Is your ship fast? Slow? Heavily armed? Say it here. Bio: Your character's history. How they got where they are, their childhood, etc. Blank profile: Name: Species: Gender: Faction: Class: Abilities: Weapons and armor: Skills: Personality (optional): Appearance: Ship specifications (if applicable): Bio: Locations Lord of Adders Black was gracious enough to make sure that we could use the Mass Effect Wiki. Thus, the Codex and all of its information is open to us. Refer to it for planet atmosphere, geography and the like. The Codex: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Codex Travel by Mass Effect relays is nearly instant, FTL travel inside a cluster takes about 12 hours to get from one side to the other. When using relays, please be gracious enough to say in OOC that you're going to another cluster. Arguably the most important cluster is the Serpentine Nebula, home of the Citadel and the Council. Even after the rebellion the Citadel is an important place, being as it is in the center of the relay network. There's a major nightclub, marketplace, and living spaces. Omega is the other major space station, on the far side of the galaxy. Unlike the Citadel, Omega is home to the more unsavory parts of galactic culture. Mercenaries, gangs, and all around crooks are headquartered on Omega. Presiding over all of this is Aria T'Loak, the Asari in charge of Omega's operations. Another major feature of this system is the Omega-3 Relay. Many ships have gone through the relay, none have returned. Class RulesAll classes may choose six abilities. For classes that draw abilities from two pools (Infiltrator, Sentinel, Vanguard) at least two of the six abilities must be of one type, with four of the other, or a three/three split; i.e. a Sentinel with Tech Armor, Snap Freeze, Flamer, Arc Grenade, Pull and Throw, or a Vanguard with Carnage, Adrenaline Rush, Fortification, Singularity, Warp Ammo and Shockwave. It should be noted that the only species that has a significant number of biotics are the asari, as all asari are born with them and training in them is part of their basic education. Among other species they are quite rare, being practically nonexistent among the quarians (and literally nonexistent among the synthetic geth). Keep this in mind when creating characters.Abilities Weight LimitsSoldier (Combat): 12Adept (Biotic): 6Engineer (Tech: 6Infiltrator (Tech/Combat): 8Sentinel (Biotic/Tech: 8Vanguard (Combat/Biotic): 8Weapon WeightsSMG: 1Heavy Pistol: 2Shotgun: 3Assault Rifle: 3Sniper Rifle: 4Tech AbilitiesCombat DroneCryo BlastDampingDecoyDefense DroneDefense MatrixElectric SlashEnergy DrainFlamerGeth TurretHoming GrenadeHunter ModeIncinerateOverloadSabotage - only able to hack VIs/mechs, plus the weapon overheat functionSentry TurretSnap FreezeSubmission NetSupply PylonTactical CloakTactical ScanTech ArmorBiotic AbilitiesAnnihilation FieldBarrierBiotic SlashBiotic SphereChargeDark ChannelLashNovaPhase DisruptorPullReaveShockwaveSingularitySlamSmashThrowWarpWarp AmmoCombat AbilitiesAdrenaline RushArmor-Piercing AmmoBallistic BladesBlade ArmorCarnageConcussive ShotCryo AmmoDisruptor AmmoFortificationIncendiary Ammo RULES: 1. All BZP rules apply. 2. Listen to the staff. 3. Your posts should go something like this, with IC for “in character” and OOC for “out of character”: IC: Garrus smashed a pod with the butt of his rifle, grimacing as the fluid hit his shields. “Scratch one!” OOC: The rest of the Normandy crew is welcome to join in. 4. Arguments/debates may go on for 5 posts in the main thread. After that, take it to PM or the discussion topic. 5. No godmodding. Dodging unavoidable attacks, ignoring injuries, etc. 6. This fits under godmodding: No metagaming. Knowing things your character didn't learn, magically crashing another player's party without a good IC reason. 7. Put “The Harbinger” in your profile to prove you read this. 8. Don't kill another player's character without permission from him/her. Make sure to write that you have permission in the post where you kill the character. 9. IN THE EVENT THAT DEATH SEEMS UNAVOIDABLE: Your character may be killed to avoid breaking rule 5. Only staff can do this. This isn't a punishment, just realism. If you have a good way to get out of it after your character is dead, please PM Toa Kaithas or another staffer. 10. Canon characters are not allowed without having permission from the GM first. 11. NPC autohitting is permitted as long as you play realistically. If you charge a group of krogan mercenaries with nothing but a machete and you're winning, that's breaking the rules. 12. No destroying relays without explicit staff permission. That is the ultimate case of NPC bashing, and they're nigh indestructible anyway. Trying isn't against the rules, but you'll be chased across the galaxy by literally every faction. 13. No bunnying. That means taking control of another person's character without permission. 14. Double posting... Nah. 15. Have fun! Punishments: 1. Warning. 2. Serious injury that can't be fully healed by Medigel, and requires the character's own body heal. 3. Character death, and no, Cerberus will not be saving you. 4. 1 week ban. 5. All characters die. 6. Permanent ban. Rewards: Level 1: Character limit raised by 1 or power limit raised for one character with a power to fill it, custom or normal. Level 2: A frigate level ship and/or a promotion if you're a member of a faction. Level 3: Staff position and a character invited to be on the Normandy. Current Staff Host: Toa Kaithas/Elvis Cohost: Bundalings Story and realism advisor: Basilisk All staff can approve characters. Well, rules are self explanatory. I'll post the first IC and my profiles tomorrow, as my internet is acting up. Good luck to everyone! My Profiles: Name: Erif'Spur vas Xil. Species: Quarian Age: 25 Gender: Male Faction: ISA. Most other quarians, however, will have nothing to do with him, nor he with them. Class: Vanguard Abilities: Singularity, Nova, Biotic Charge, Carnage, Armor-Piercing Ammo, Shockwave. Weapons and armor: Military quarian envirosuit, though it may be noted that he is more resistant to disease than most quarians, able to be outside of his suit for 5 minutes without getting sick. Instead of an omniblade his suit is equipped with an omnisword (essentially the same, but a sword instead of the normal omniblade's shape). Also carries a Scimitar shotgun, Tempest submachine gun, and a grenade launcher that holds 5 shots. Skills: Erif'Spur is one of the only biotic quarians around, and that gives him the advantage of surprise. He isn't as good at shooting as Shepard, but is still not easily beaten on the shooting range. Ship specifications: The Xil is a long-range fighter. Its added engines and supply areas do tend to make it not as agile as normal, but it can outrun most everything. Appearance: Erif wears a faded green (the color being faded to begin with, though the amount of use the suit has received doesn't help) envirosuit, his facemask is a soft shade of blue. Like most quarians, Erif is smaller and more slender than his human equivalent, standing at about 5'6”. Also like most quarians, Erif's face is physically attractive, at least by human standards, and his bright green eyes (while odd for a member of his species) are vibrant and full of life. Bio: Erif's parents were killed when the ship they lived on's Element Zero core overloaded. Erif only barely survived, his 2 year old body changed forever. The irradiation from the core enhanced his immune system and made him biotic. He was excluded because of this, only one of the admiral's daughter would have anything to do with him. Right before his Pilgrimage there was an incident with some active geth. He destroyed them, but his uncontrolled biotics ripped the ship apart. Exile followed swiftly.
  8. OOC chats, a post for all your profiles, those go here. Now excuse me while I pass out from excitement.
  9. Wait, sorry, typo up there. I'm being told the actual title of the DLC is "Mass Effect 3: Citadel". Sorry for the error. But anyways, since it was getting good reviews and it's the final DLC for Shepard's trilogy, I grabbed Citadel earlier today and played through the main story (there's a good amount of post-story stuff too.) It's... kind of weird. The whole thing has an air of festivity to it, so if you're looking for some great revelation about the Reapers, this really isn't for you. But it is a lot of goofy fun - everyone involved was clearly just playing off the fact this was the last hurrah for the characters. There's constant one-liners, tons of character interaction, and a main plot so silly it could've been lifted from a Saturday morning cartoon. I was laughing a lot as I played it. That said, as a piece of gameplay it's really not too shabby - the main missions are interesting gameplay-wise and take place in some cool new locations, and it adds some neat features like a combat arena that lets you fight with ME2 squadmates. Though, really, if you're still making up your mind: Wrex is in the party, and you get to see him in formal wear. Who could ask for more?
  10. With a mournful cry Wenglestum cradles his fiance's body and vows that he WILL have a funeral (and it's going to be AWESOME. I mean, that wedding budget has to go SOMEWHERE right?) He's barely placed his beloved's body on the ground when there are MORE things to shoot (which honestly is pretty good, because he's kind of ticked. I mean not only did he lose his first squadmate EVER, but it just happened to be his FIANCE. What are the ODDS?) Anyhow he walks a bit, shoots a bit, yells at Kaidan a bit (dude will NOT be quiet) and then sees some crazy robot flashlight eye things. WHAT WILL HE DO, oh wait, they killed a human so I guess it's time to shoot them. So he does and they're dead, and then--oh dear. Oh dear is that human seriously wearing pink and white armor? Like pink and white armor? As in PINK? Yes unfortunately she is. Also she apparently got her entire squad killed by the robot geth flashlight things. Or at least her entire squad got killed by those things, and she maybe blames herself? Honestly, Wenglestum is kind of tired of all these people talking about things. HOW DOES HE RESPOND. (Also this one is a threefer because I AM NOT WAITING AROUND FOR ASHLEY) 1. Are you okay? - I mean seriously, she is willingly dressed in white and pink armor. If nothing else that is a sign of mental damage. 2. What happened here? - Pink. Armor. Wenglestum has to know how this happened. 3. We're on a Mission - Wenglestum can't stand to be around her, let alone look at her. I mean that armor. BONUS POINTS IF YOU ANSWERED 1. 2.1. What Happened to the rest of your unit? - Yeah, did your wardrobe scare them off? 2.2. Fighting these things? - I guess flashlight robot geth death machines are somewhat important maybe. BONUS POINTS IF YOU ANSWERED 2.1 3.1. Don't blame yourself - I Mean I guess she shouldn't feel bad about killing her squad. Her choice of uniform on the other hand... 3.2. What killed them? - Wenglestum reveals that he hasn't actually been paying attention to anything this entire time, or subtly indicates that he thinks that Ashley is a serial killer. 3.3. You abandoned them - Wenglestum is a butt, who does buttlike things because he doesn't like Ashley. Her and her pink armor. (It offends him because it will look so much better on him) "Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn" "Brush your teeth after every meal--this moral brought to by the American CANADIAN Dental Association"
  11. Being that last entry was totally non-canon and didn't count at all (what, did you actually think it was that easy to get the bad end? NO) let's move on with the amazing adventures of Commander Wenglestum Sparklepants Shepard After a moment of thinking, Wenglestum has perfect clarity of thought and responds to the Doctor, explaining quite clearly what her job is, and how soldiers get hurt because of reasons. She naturally snaps at him and gets all upset. Jeese, how rude? It's then that Wenglestum looks into Jenkins face and suddenly he can't control himself anymore. The secrets, the lies--it's all too much. What he feels must be public and to heck with the consequences! With sweaty palms Wenglestum bends down to pop the question.... ...and promptly gets dragged into the Captain's office by some Turian Spectre thing. JEESE DOESN'T ANYONE BELIEVE IN ROMANCE ANYMORE? Anyhow the Spectre proceeds to blab on about how the mission isn't really just boring stuff, but maybe exciting stuff will also happen, and then without warning the Captain appears in his quarters (What are the odds???) and explains that it's even BETTER, Wenglestum himself is under review for Spectre status himself! He supposes he'll let the whole yanking-away-from-his-fiance slide this time--I mean he might get the power to do whatever he wants! One could almost say he would get to skirt the rules--perhaps because of his money! But suddenly Wenglestum is snapped out of his reverie, as the navigator patches through a feed from Eden Prime (the planet they were going to visit I guess?) and lots of people are dying. Wenglestum also has to suppress a giggle at what seems to be a soldier dressed in white and pink armor? I mean, how Gauche! Shortly later Kaidan and Jenkins are on the surface of Eden Prime--and it has certainly seen better days. They wander around for a bit (because seriously, Wenglestum's sense of direction is terrible. There's a reason he's not the navigator of the Normandy--and also why people don't let him drive the Normandy) before Jenkins lets his PASSION get the best of him and runs ahead of the rest of the team--and is cruelly cut down in his prime. Wenglestum stops for a moment, his entire world ending as he watches his fiance fall under a hail of bullets. Full of rage and sadness he shoots the floating robot things before running over to inspect the body of his beloved. It's time to make a choice--the entire mission is counting on him. 1. He deserves a burial - It was Wenglestum's fiance for heaven's sake--he at least deserves that much, right? 2. We can't help him now - The cold hard reality is that they're in the middle of an active war zone, and as much as he meant, he's done. 3. Forget about him - Wenglestum can't deal with what just happened. He has to rationalize the damage that's been done to his life and treat him like any other soldier. "Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn" "WIN A FREE TRIP TO TAHITI" (We won, we won, we won!)
  12. After a moment of soulsearching Wenglestum has come to the conclusion that he is Commander Wenglestump Sparklepants Shepard. There's no way anyone would or could command him to talk to everyone in the universe! Or at least he hopes that really, really hard. However it has barely been a moment when he hears two of his underlings talking. Loudly. Like seriously, do they want the whole ship to hear them? Wenglestum rolls his eyes thinking it might be a lovers quarrel before hearing the word "Spectre" usually that doesn't come into a lovers quarrel--or at least Wenglestum hopes. (He doesn't actually know. Wenglestum has lived a surprisingly sheltered life for growing up in the wasteland that is earth. Nobody has taught him anything there is to know about the thing they call "love") Standing creepily close by, Wenglestum allows them to finish their conversation before leaning in. It appears a young soldier and the ship's resident doctor are in an arguement. The Doc is whining about doing his job, and the kid is whining about not shooting stuff. UGH WHINERS. HOW WILL WENGLESTUM RESPOND. 1. Relax, Jenkins - Jeese man, the game has barely started yet. There will be plenty to shoot (spoiler alert, there is plenty to shoot) 2. The Doc's right - The doctor has every right to whine about actually doing her job. And the kid is pretty dumb. 3. Part of the job, Doc - APPARENTLY nobody told this DOCTOR that being a DOCTOR meant DOCTORING people. Especially people who get SHOT. JEESE WHAT KIND OF DOCTOR IS THIS. "Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn" "Vote early, and vote often."
  13. Wenglestum has taken a long time to think about his response--about seven days honestly--which kind of begs the question of how/when he: went to the bathroom, ate, slept, showered, trained, brushed his teeth, styled his hair, shaved, and a multitude of other things. But pushing aside those logistical nightmares Wenglestum responds to Joker with such a well-crafted passive aggressive attack that if you hadn't been paying attention you almost would have taken it for genuine concern. Joker of course misses the entire thing and responds with "The captain always sounds that way when he talks to me" DRAT. Another passive aggressive zinger foiled by Joker's semi-awareness. It's at this time that Wenglestum (leaving the cockpit now) really starts to realize just how many people are on this ship--and thinking in broader terms, just how many people are in this entire galaxy. I mean, surely nobody would expect him to talk to all of them and want to sift through every element of his conversation like some sort of insane micromanager. WOULD THEY? These thoughts weigh heavily on Wenglestum as he moves closer to the captain's quarters. 1. Will Wenglestum only post questions dealing with Renegade/Paragon options 2. Will Wenglestum post questions dealing with Renegade/Paragon options and anything he thinks is funny or interesting? 3. Will Wenglestum talk to everyone in the entire Galaxy. NO. "Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn" "If at first you don't succeed, blame it on your parents."
  14. Our brave commander Wenglestump Sparklepants Shepard has come across two of his squad mates discussing the presence of a Spectre aboard their super shiny new spaceship. Wenglestum, having not had his coffee that morning and being in no mood to hear the ironically named "Joker" spout off conspiracy theories grouchily snapped "Cut the Chatter" and satisfyingly both Kaidan Alenko and Joker did so--until Joker decided to open his fat mouth again and try to talk to the captain to warn him about the Spectre heading back to talk to him... Only for the captain to respond "He's already here" as in "He's already here you dork, he heard you warn me about him. Way to make our ship look like it's full of super geniuses" Wenglestum has also been commanded to go discuss certain things with both the Spectre and Captain Anderson. Joker wants to make sure Wenglestum heard, but Wenglestum can't resist leaving one final comment 1. Is He Upset? - Wenglestum wants to make sure Joker understands that was a silly comment in the most passive aggressive way possible. 2. I Heard - Wenglestum is boring. So boring. 3. You made him mad - Wenglestum doesn't even bother being subtle. Joker you messed up. Dork. "Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn" "Elvis lives on in our hearts, in his music...and in a trailer park outside of Milwaukee."
  15. Ladies and gentlemen--may I introduce you to.... COMMANDER WENGLESTUMP SPARKLEPANTS SHEPARD (Or Wenglestum for short. Because character limits are no fun) ANYHOW our new found commander is on board the Normandy SR-1, the highest techest piece of space shippery this side of the galaxy. And he hears two PEONS I mean crew members talking about the Spectre aboard their ship. More specifically he hears the navigator talking about how only a fool believes the official story. HOW WILL WENGLESTUM RESPOND: 1. I agree - Agree with the navigator that something doesn't feel right 2. You're overreacting - maintain that cool demeanor that you might be well known for if you are known for that. 3. Cut the Chatter! - SHOW HIM WHO IS BOSS. "Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn" "If you can't say something nice--you're probably at the icescapades."
  16. What a completely unexpected amount of support on this completely silly idea! THANK YOU GUYS AND GALS. Anyhow, now that our Shepard is named (the best possible name) and assigned, it's time to decide what he looks like. I will do this in the simplest possible way: WHAT IS SHEPARD'S RACE: - Asian -Caucasian -African-Canadian (+10 points because my wife wants it) WHAT IS SHEPARD'S COMPLEXION: - Yes Wrinkles - No Wrinkles - Maybe Wrinkles DOES SHEPARD HAVE A SCAR: - Yes - No DOES SHEPARD HAVE SOME PUDGE ON HIS FACE: - LOTS - Maybe a little - He is a skeleton WHAT SIZE ARE SHEPARD'S EARS: - Bigguns - Littleuns - Middlesizeuns WHAT KIND OF EYES DOES SHEPARD HAVE: - Squinty - Popping out - Boring WHAT IS SHEPARD'S OVERALL MOOD: - Happy - Sad - Zoned out - Neutral - Angry WHAT IS SHEPARD'S EYE COLOUR: - Look just tell me a colour because I'm not going to list all of them okay. There's a lot of colours I have to scroll through and I've already been through this character creation screen like eight times. DOES SHEPARD HAVE LUSCIOUS HUSSIE LIPS: - Yes - Yes HOW HUGE IS SHEPARD'S NOSE: - So Huge - Maybe not so huge? DOES SHEPARD HAVE FACIAL HAIR: - Yes - No WHAT COLOUR IS SHEPARD'S HAIR: - Blonde - Reddish - Brownish - Black - Mix'n'match (One for hair colour, one for beard colour) AFTER THIS WE WILL BE DONE WITH LOTS OF CHOICES. ONCE THE GAME STARTS IT IS PRETTY MUCH BINARY. OKAY I LOVE YOU ALL BYE. "Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn" "Brush your teeth after every meal!"

    Mass Defect 1

Okay guys, here's the deal. I've been wanting to play Mass Effect again anyhow (especially now that I know that MaleShep is from CAYNADA) but I've been kind of hemming and hawing about it. I mean I already beat ME1 and ME2 using a Femshep and playing a full paragon like I wanted to--but I know there's so much I'm missing. So here's where you come in! I will play Mass Effect (and maybe Mass Effect 2) according to your choices. I will leave each entry up for ONE DAY in which you can vote for the response I should take. The only rules here are: 1. It will be Manshep, I already played Femshep and I love her dearly, I want to try something different. 2. I will not romance Liara. I already did, we had numerous blue children and they are adorable. 3. If there is no clear majority I will decide whatever I want so nyeh. THAT'S IT. So let's start off with the first round of Options: WHAT IS SHEPARD'S NAME: - Commander __________ Shepard WHAT IS SHEPARD'S BACKGROUND: - Spacer Both your parents were in the Alliance Military. Your childhood was spent on ships and stations as they transferred from posting to posting, never staying in one location for more than a few years. Following in your parent's footsteps, you enlisted at the age of eighteen. - Colonist You were born and raised on Mindoir, a small border colony in the Attican Traverse. When you were sixteen, slavers raided Mindoir, slaughtering your family and friends. You were saved by a passing Alliance patrol and you enlisted with the military a few years later. - Earth Born As an Earthborn, you had a rough childhood in the slums on Earth and have a gritty edge to your personality. WHAT IS SHEPHARD'S MILITARY HISTORY: - Sole Survivor During your service, a mission you were on went horribly wrong. Trapped in an extreme survival situation, you had to overcome physical torments and psychological stress that would have broken most people. You survived while those around you fell, and now you alone is left to tell the tale. - War Hero Early in your military career you found yourself facing an overwhelming enemy force. You risked your own life to save your fellow soldiers and defeat the enemy despite the impossible odds. Your bravery and heroism have earned you medals and recognition from the Alliance fleet. - Ruthless Throughout your military career, you have held fast to one basic rule: get the job done. You've been called cold, calculating, and brutal. Your reputation for ruthless efficiency makes your fellow soldiers wary of you. But when failure is not an option, the military always goes to you first. WHAT CLASS WILL SHEPARD BE: - Soldier The Soldier is your pure combat class, they are those who use guns to solveall their problems. They can use all 4 weapons without relative ease, the onlyclass that is able to use Heavy Armour and they have the ability to use FirstAid. This is the best option for first time players because its easy to use, point and shoot. The class of a default Shepard or a quick Shepard. - Engineer The Engineer is like the Soldier, a pure user, but of Tech this time. Theyare the masters of cracking locks and hacking into systems, and also hackingand disabling enemy units. Since the Geth are electronic, you can hack intothem to render them useless. They are going to be a support unit, since thisisn't Battlefield 2 and you don't get a Shotgun. - Adept The Adept is the last pure user, the user of Biotics, or Jedi. With this, you will be able to defend yourself with Barrier, or throw your enemiesto render them useless. However, they will lack the offensive power or thetech power that would be required for an all round unit. - Infiltrator The Infiltrator is a combination of Combat and Tech. They have the offensivehacking powers of the Engineer and the long range and close range stoppingpower of a Soldier. They are a very powerful class, the other being theVanguard. With Combat and Tech, they can easily go through the game withoutneed for a support squad. - Sentinel The Sentinel is the combination of Techs and Biotics. This can be quite usefulbut there lies a problems. You don't have the combat capabilities of bringingdown the enemy. This class is again a support class since you can't take theenemy down. - Vanguard The Pure Jedi class, the Vanguard is one of the most powerful classes, theycan combine Biotics and Combat together. They however, lack the Tech powers totake down locks and that will seriously undermine your support squad. Theycan easily knock down foes, throw them and fire. HOO BOY THAT WAS A LOT OF STUFF BUT WE'RE NOT DONE YET. TUNE IN TOMORROW WHEN WE GET TO PICK WHAT SHEPARD LOOKS LIKE! "Wheel of Morality turn, turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn"
  18. Link Commander Shepard and Commander Palmer! X3Both voiced by the amazing Jennifer Hale Medium: White Gel Pen, Prismacolor Cool Grey Markers, Gouache on Toned Gray PaperSomething I always wanted to draw since I heard Palmer say "Hold the line!" in the new Spartan Ops trailer. On a new gray toned paper sketchbook, I drew the characters separately and put the finals into one picture. Also the first time I ever used gouache, it was pretty interesting, it handles similarly to acrylic in my opinion.

    Commander Rob

(Here is proper link to large size) So I made this for Rob and Becca for Christmas because I'm kind of late sending Rob his birthday present. It is based on starwar and robotcop and other space movie from the 70's.
  20. Welcome all, to the new Official Mass Effect topic, which has been approved by Than the Moa.You can discuss all things ME here, like the games, comics, novels, soundtracks... Even the upcoming movie (if that's still on). I managed to get a copy of the hardcover version of the Mass Effect: Evolution comic. It's number 239 of the first 500, which got signed by Mac Walters. *squee?*
  21. Janus

    Kohaku!

KOHAKU. WHAT ARE YOU NOT DOING IN THE CORPSES?
  22. Pretty great fan movie with Mark Meer as Jon Grissom. Gotta love prequels!
  23. Rob: I'ma boot up Mass Effect for the first time ever, but all I'ma do is make a character. *Boots up Mass Effect and starts creating Commander Joan Shepard* AN HOUR LATER. Rob: I am satisfied with this thing I do. *Clicks on accept* Rob: WHOA GAME STARTS RIGHT AWAY? Kind of a boring cutscene, though. *First dialogue option comes up* Rob: WHOA THAT WASN'T A CUTSCENE WOW. *Answers first two dialogue options, begins walking down the hall of the Normandy* Rob: OMG BEST GAME EVAR.
  24. "But what do I call the individual standing in front of me?""There is no individual. We are all Geth. There are currently 1,183 runtimes active within this platform."---Well, been awhile. I've been sort of out of the MOCing world for quite a stretch. However, after becoming fairly obsessed with the Mass Effect game series, I really wanted to build one of the characters and Legion seemed a good fit for the robotic style of BIONICLE pieces.Anyway, it's nowhere near a perfect representation, but I think I did pretty well (also I apologize for the bad iPod pics, camera is MIA): Comparison imagePosedStanding without gunGunTorso close-upSideBackSo yeah, that's my Legion. Now, some things of note:-Many illegal connections were used in this; his entire torso is basically held together by an elastic.-I'm not a huge fan of the legs, but for the life of me can't figure out how to improve them anymore; they're already loads better than they were in WIP stage.-Legion is apparently silver, not brown - my TV lied to me.And that's all. C&C more than welcome, thanks for looking.
  25. In the interest of full disclosure, this isn't really a story so much as a scene from a very long, involved story I'll probably never write. And it's only really 90% Mass Effect. Swoosh. Ding. “Welcome, councilor. Please select your destination.” “Citadel Embassies.” “One moment, please…” Rumble. Jane Myers waited for the sound of the elevator whooshing up the side of the Citadel to fill her ears before passing the datapad she held over to the man standing next to her. Councilor Donnel Udina was not a poor man; Jane had little doubt that he could afford a top-of-the-line personal synthetic assistant if he desired, but she’d learned that humanity’s galactic representative could be very… particular. No synthetic assistants. Same outfit for him, every day. Same outfit for Jane, every day. Matters not directly related to council politics to be redirected to C-Sec, no exceptions. Pre-council meeting briefings to be organized ahead of time and provided to him on the elevator ride up. She’d gotten used to it; the sound of the little metal box being pulled up at tens of kilometers an hour had become her own personal start-of-the-race pistol bang. “Two major priorities for today’s meeting, sir. The first is Shepard. The second is the new diplomatic envoy.” She’d long since realized that this little briefing rarely if ever actually provided Udina with new information; it was just a way for him to organize it. Toss out the details; if he didn’t know them already, they weren’t important. Make it as tiny as possible. He remained staring at the elevator doors. “Is that the agreed-upon order of discussion?” “Yes, sir.” Jane had never not said the day’s items out of order, and Udina had never not asked her if she had. She occasionally toyed with answering no just to see his reaction, but she honestly doubted it would be worth the effort. Donnel Udina could be a very boring man when he wanted to be. “Admiral Anderson intends to represent Shepard today, is that correct?” “Yes, sir.” She didn’t envy the admiral; a lot of people out there wanted Shepard’s blood, and it was going to take a lot of convincing to get the Council to turn the commander over to the Alliance. Not that she doubted Anderson would; she’d seen the man cut through an impressive amount of political red tape in the past (even if his preferred term for ‘red tape’ was a little less polite). “Very well. The diplomatic envoy, how many representatives are there?” “Four, sir. Though today only the ambassador is scheduled to come before the Council.” Udina frowned. “I was informed there were three members in the envoy.” Jane answered automatically. “That was the arrangement, sir. It would seem an additional member of the species stowed away on the asari escort ship. It was deemed more convenient to leave him in the care of his fellows than to reverse course.” The councilman snorted. Jane remained impassive; she knew Udina well enough to guess what his opinion on diplomatic envoys that took on stowaways was. She caught a glimpse of herself in the reflective surface of the elevator door and cursed silently; she could see on the left side of her head a tangle in her otherwise perfectly pulled back and knotted brunette hair. If she’d been out on the town she wouldn’t have given a cuss, but she knew from experience Udina was the kind of man to notice something like that. Apparently the image of one strolling through the embassy hallways with incredible political purpose was entirely ruined if your PA’s hair was a little disheveled. It was bad enough that he made her wear a two-piece black business suit that looked like it had been borrowed from some museum’s 2000s New York exhibit; she guessed that somewhere in the back of his mind he imagined it made him look like a power broker to have his PA dressed like an advertising exec. He, of course, wore standard business attire for the Citadel; that way, if anyone didn’t buy into his little game, she’d be the weirdo in the room. “Who is escorting the ambassador?” Jane kept her voice neutral. “Dr. Khia T’seh, sir. I’m given to understand she has a strong relationship with the race, having been one of the members of the team that made first contact.” If Udina was asking about the ambassador’s escort, that meant he already knew who it was. And if he knew one of the escorts – “And the remaining members of the envoy? Are they running loose on the Citadel during this meeting? She could see where this was going. “No, sir. I believe they are being accompanied by an Asari-approved human journalist by the name of Alexa Tanner.” “Is that so.” A pause. “And which publication does Ms. Tanner work for?” Jane remained staring forward. “Outlook, sir. The weekly e-magazine.” “And that magazine is managed by…?” Jane suppressed a sigh. “Jake Myers, sir. My brother.” “Is that so.” Another pause. “Miss Myers, I hope you have impressed upon your brother and his 'journalistic' crew the delicacy of welcoming a new civilization to Citadel space? Particularly one with such unusual qualities.” “I’m afraid I don’t speak with him often, sir.” The councilor frowned slightly. “Then may I suggest a brief family reunion? And tell him that the human government would consider it a favor if he treated this situation with the delicacy it deserves. This is politics, not gossip.” The councilor’s favorite phrase hung unspoken in the air between them. “I’ll be sure to pass that along, sir.” Ding. Swoosh. “Welcome to: Citadel Embassies…” “Thank you, Admiral. You are dismissed. The Council will consider the matter in due course.” Jane sat back in her seat in the upper level of the Council’s chambers and rubbed her eyes. Anderson had done a fine job of arguing that Shepard should be in Alliance hands, she had to admit; their being the first ones to arrest the Commander was doing wonders for their case. She watched her boss quietly consult with the other councilors ahead of the next order of business. The turian councilor had been surprisingly silent throughout the hearing, but the salarian and asari representatives had spent more than their fair share of time bickering with her boss – who, unsurprisingly, supported Shepard being handed over to the Alliance and tried on Earth. She stifled a yawn. Five years as a desk jockey in the galaxy’s highest office had done a lot to desensitize her to politics. Sure, Shepard had done some crazy stuff, but the Commander hadn’t even been allowed to appear before the Council. So instead she’d gotten to listen to the same sort of bureaucratic wrangling as usual – thrilling. Below her, the councilors finished talking amongst themselves and returned to facing the speaker’s podium. The asari councilor pressed something on her podium to signal the next speaker to enter. Jane sat forward. This could be something interesting for a change – a new intelligent species making its first appearance before the council. Not many people knew this meeting was even happening today; her brother’s magazine (she still hadn't the faintest how he'd gotten this exclusive) had a gag order until after the Council put out a formal statement later today. And as for the race itself… She’d been briefed, but it was a tough pill to swallow. Perhaps there’d been some miscommunication, or maybe Tony over in Bailey’s office thought it’d be a laugh to mess with her incoming messages. Her thoughts were interrupted as the ambassador entered and approached the podium. Jane was vaguely aware of the salarian councilor formally announcing the next order of business, but somehow that information failed to make any headway in her brain. The ambassador’s feet clunked against the ground, alien black metal against grey pavement, propelled by steel legs encased in silver armor. His arms and chest were of similar construction, an almost organic, muscular quality to the dark plating and piping that comprised him. Atop his face sat a jet-black mask, with a broad, spiky forehead. Through its eyeholes shone two green orbs, almost impossibly green, and it was here that the fact made its way into Jane’s frontal cortex that no, Tony over in Bailey’s office wasn’t jerking her around. Beneath her, Udina and the salarian and turian councilors shuffled uncomfortably as the asari councilor nodded to the ambassador, apparently unfazed. “Please state your name and business with the Council.” The ambassador’s voice rumbled. “Onua, Toa Nuva of Earth. I stand before you today as the ambassador of Spherus Magna.” In her seat above, Jane let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. All right, I cheated a bit there by not saying it was a Bionicle crossover. I do apologize for that. This is basically just a scene from a Bionicle/ME epic that, frankly speaking, I'm probably not ever going to get around to writing. Still, I'm trying to keep up with the League of Authors' write-something-every-day, so I decided to give this a spin. It ain't much, but it was fun to write, especially given that Jane never existed in any of my original planning (though her brother, Alexa, and Khia did.) This also probably hasn't been edited as much as it should have been. Comments always appreciated!
