  1. Thank you for reading UNfallen. This is the review topic for UNfallen.
  2. UNfallen - Prologue Was it worth it? Incense smoke wafted lazily through the air, transporting and otherworldly. Rain fell, grey and unrelenting. Only a thin pane of floor to ceiling glass defined the outside from the inside, but the cold of the storm permeated so forcefully as to leave mildew tracks across the frame. The glass shuddered in the gale. Beyond, a thin rim of frozen ice stood as a bastion against roiling waves glittering with starlight, half hidden in the forbidding mists of opportunity. A thin and dark line obscured by the weather hinted at a greater world enveloped in the inky darkness of departing time. That far shore lingered without definition, only promise, and from it beckoned a haunting golden light. He stood in solemn contemplation of the worlds beyond, his back rigid and restrained despite the exhaustion of his eternal toils. He breathed the incense, and filled his synthetic lungs with the burnt history of civilizations. His cold heartlight beat slowly, contemptuously. A silver disk of protodermis rested in his hands. Its polished surface reflected the room behind, but not him. A perfect circle, the disk represented so much more than purpose or possibility. He held the future, but a future at the cost of itself. Was it worth it? He blinked, and remembered standing across the waters on the island shrouded in mist. Memories returned, palpably real. In the space of an instant he stood one foot in the present and his other in the past. The machine rested before him in its disrepair; a once circular structure echoed the shape of the disk in his hands, now tortured by misuse and neglect, still active despite all attempted destruction. Components were torn away to reveal a hollow interior of softly pulsing muscle and sinew soldered to wires and metal struts in grisly excess. The rain fell around him, soaking his white robes to a dark grey in the shadow of the machine’s golden light. It needed many pieces to be whole, and over countless cycles of oblivion he gathered them, coveting them like starlight in a jar. He held the disk before him, filling the open space of the machine with it in his view as if plugging a drain. Was it worth it?
  3. “Life is not what one lived, but what one remembers in order to tell the tale.” - Gabriel Garcia Marquez They said, tell it to us. It’s only dredges of a tale, clinging bits of a mythical past that dare not wash away. They won’t let it wash away, much as the once Endless Ocean was challenged by rebel islands that sprung up, and survived, against all odds. I think they have a feeling that that’s the only reason why we’re here. By ‘they’ I mean all of those who live in this thriving metropolis, and those who live in all the other great cities. The ones that jut into the sky with Coliseums and Towers of Knowledge as if wanting to reach upwards in order to cut a star from the cloth that is the night sky; the ones that call prototype masks and ritualistic tunics the carpets they walk on; those by the beaches and those under the waters and those clinging above the sky, all of them replicating the different cities of yore, lodged into our genetic memory, but forgotten to all. We thought it was better that way, the six of us. How do you encompass millennia of history? How do you tell those collected chronicles, of heroic Toa and devious Makuta, of deaths of Great Spirits and magical fusions of planets? Names like Kodan, Takua, Hahli, Kopeke, Tarduk… And how do you tell someone descended from a Makuta that they were once the cause of a near-extinction level event? How do you force a now-sentient Rahi to regress into history and into savagery, so much like the Zesk and the Vorox during their own time? We chose, for all of them, to keep away the dangerous and the old, in order to keep this tenuous peace. And now they say, tell it to us. Look at them. Caught unawares by their own youth and inexperience, as thirsty for knowledge as all of us once were, far removed enough that they see but fascination and awe in what we call ‘our history’. But I, I am… so old. The joints in my fingers hurt. Breathing is labored, in that I feel when they slow down because I become afraid that I have forgotten to take a breath. I’m nearing the end, that much is clear. With me, as accorded thousands of years ago, it all must go. But you will appreciate that, in typical me fashion, I have followed this to an extent. It’s equivocation, in that I am not technically going against what we agreed on. The tomes sit behind me. It’s all there, you know? The maps of every major island and of what were once the three planets, with the sites of every village and every battle. The entire travel log of the Robot, with all of its tales of the places we never saw (I suppose the Robot also died, and so those coordinates will remain just that). The parchment written after my investigations into Mata Nui and Voya Nui, the crystals and panels from visiting Metru Nui and the Southernmost Islands. Every weapon that’s saved my life, labeled with the thing that threatened me and that I barely escaped alive. And the Kanohi. They’re all here, almost all of them. It took us, what, seven thousand years to collect the Mask of each major player? Seven thousand years and the death of one of our own… and now I’m dying, and this will be here, but with no one. Ha. It almost feels like a meaningless sacrifice, at the end of it all. Is that what the six of us ended up being? Meaningless? Or sacrifices? They will never know, will they. No, of course not. It’s shocking to me I still find myself rediscovering this. No. No. No, no. No, they don’t get this. Not now, not never. I- no! I said th- Look, I- Y- A Rahi should have eaten you years ago, you know that? Fine. But I will keep the details to a minimum. And, I’ll have me an oath of secrecy! Yes. Yes, alright, I’ll let them in. Let me just get my affairs in order first. Review Topic
  4. Hello everybody, it's Bonkle and I'm trying out my first comedy type thingy. So how this works is you submit your Bionicle-related character and give them an adventure to go on, and then I write a short, humorous story. For example, Petewa asked me to write about his Po-Toa character travelling to other dimensions with a TARDIS, so I decided to have his character visit other LEGO universes. Anyone is welcome to have one written, but I'll only do one per member, unless you and someone else can agree on a "team" story. Writing Process: 1. Turn on music 2. Realize I can't focus with music playing 3. Turn off music 4. Struggle 5. The writing flows 6. Ugh, now I've got to type it in 7. ???? 8. Success! Table of Contents: Petewa: This post Irrie: This post Dragon Kovika Olita Short Comedies: Petewa Starring: Petewa, Dragon, Shadow, and Dane "I still don't think it's a good idea," Dragon hissed. He and Petewa were heading down to the conference room for breakfast with the rest of the Kanohi Force. "Relax, it'll be fine, as long as Shadow doesn't find out." "Whatever. But don't say I didn't warn you." The pair entered the room, the sounds of clinking silverware and chatter everywhere. Petewa casually glanced at Shadow as he helped himself to a whole plate of bagels. The Av-Matoran did not appear to be particularly interested in him. After they were all done eating, Petewa accidentally bumped into Shadow. A few papers fell from his trenchcoat. As he and Shadow bent down to pick them up, Petewa noticed what one index card said: STOP PETEWA. Suddenly, he bolted for the door, with Shadow in hot pursuit. Dragon disappointedly said aloud, "Smh." Dane quickly came over and high-fived him. Meanwhile, in the halls, Shadow was gaining a lead. Using his Kakama, he had nearly caught up with Petewa. As the Po-Toa disappeared around a corner, Shadow went left, down the stairwell to the garage. However, Petewa had stashed his vehicle in a closet off to the right. He snickered as he powered up the TARDIS and set coordinates for a random LEGO dimension. Down in the garage, Shadow heard the hum of the TARDIS and realized his mistake. Even as he dashed up the stairs, he knew it was too late. "PEEEEETEEEEEWAAAA!" Back in the TARDIS, Petewa was relaxed. Shadow worried too much. How harmful was pranking a few people in other LEGO dimensions? He grabbed a few water balloons as the Police Box reached its first destination. He stepped out into a world of fun and color. Petewa was utterly disgusted. A bipedal squirrel walked up to him, a stream of sparkles coming from its tail. "Hello, new friend! Welcome to FABU-" "Nope." Petewa quickly got back in the TARDIS and hit the random button again. This time, he landed on a bridge and narrowly dodged some laser fire as he got out. He realized where he was: Sentai Mountain! With a cry of, "Notice me Sentai!" he hit the nearest battle machine with a water balloon. The blue-haired pilot just stared at him for a second before rattling something off in Japanese. Several other mechs arrived and then things got really weird. The background became monochrome, with white lines streaking upwards. There were a bunch of crazy sound effects as we got close-ups of the weapons before all the mechs blasted Petewa. He was knocked back into the TARDIS, and he quickly hit the home button. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Short Comedies: Irrie Starring: Irrie and Ghidora Irrie woke up, already at maximum Frenchness. He got out of bed, singing La Marseillaise entirely in "hon hon's" He had something important to do today: he was searching for the fabled Almighty Baguette, a piece of bread created from raw gold and magic, located at the top of the highest peak in the land. Grabbing his Kaukau and Jo staff, he hopped into the MoustacheMobile and drove off towards the mountains. Finding the tallest mountain was no challenge, but climbing it was. Irrie had to leave behind the MoustacheMobile and continue up the slope on foot. Using his Jo staff as a walking stick, he was able to make decent progress. However, he soon encountered another climber! Could it be someone else trying to get the baguette? As Irrie got closer, he saw that his challenger was a mime! He knocked him away with his Jo staff, sending the mime crashing down the mountain. Suddenly, the mime made some hand gestures and a platform appeared under him, breaking his fall. He made more gestures and the platform soared back up to Irrie's level. The mime smashed the platform into Irrie's head before trapping him in a mime box. Then he continued sprinting up the mountain. Irrie was trapped, there was no escape. Ghidora casually walked by and dropped a Taco Bell chalupa on the box. "Think outside the bun," he said. What could he mean by that?" Irrie thought. "Think outsi..... Think outside the box!" he shouted out. Of course! He had French powers; all he had to do was mimic opening a box. He escaped from his prison and charged up the mountain, sending snow everywhere. Irrie quickly caught up to the mime, who put his hands on his face in shock. Irrie summoned a wall in front of the mime as they ran. The mime hit the wall head on and exploded into dust. Irrie finished the climb up to the peak and found the Almighty Baguette, but it was on the other side of a lava lake! As he approached, a booming voice said, "True or false. France is the world's most visited country." "True," Irrie said. A stone step appeared over the lava and the voice asked another question. After correctly answering ten, there was a full bridge across the lava. Irrie excitedly ran over the bridge and nabbed the Almighty Baguette. He held it over his head and cried, "Hon hon" for all of BZ-Nui to hear.
  5. (NOTE TO ADMINS: Didn't know where else to put this. Feel free to move it where you want.) So, I've been thinking of starting a sort of collaberative worldbuilding project, right here on the BZPower forums. SUMMARY Since the dawn of man, we have looked to the stars and wondered; what's out there? The precise answer would be lots of dust, stars, balls of rock and random spacial anomalies. The good old fashioned answer is, of course, space. Lots and lots of space. Huge, vast quantities of nothing but space. But in that space, is something truly magestic. Adventure. And so, the Traveller's Guide to Legonia was created to help chronicle the vast reaches of space that normally we'd know so little about if not for the hard work of our chroniclers. THE IDEA ------------ Basically, Legonia is a galaxy dominated by the Galactic Republic of Legonia, a spacefairing FTL-capable civilization of humans, with their homeworld on Terra Maxima. Most of the galaxy is under their control, but they know so little about it. That's where we come in. Basically, you submit a MOC or an idea for a MOC. If it's the former, it goes straight to the next stage. If it's the latter, I or someone else will build that MOC. The next stage involves someone taking that MOC and writing an entry for it in the Traveller's Guide, where it is then placed in the Guide for all to see. The other process involves writing the story first, then someone else building the MOC and putting it in the Traveller's Guide. That way, instead of having one side clogged with requests, we can have two sides clogged up. The real beauty of it is the collaboration. You can have your work be it's own thing or have it build upon the various other entries in the Guide. It's all up to you. So, go ahead. Post your MOCs and your stories, and let's get ourselves a travel guide. SUBMISSIONS ------------------ Please put it in a spoiler so we don't clutter up the page, please. Type: MOC, Idea for MOC, Story Name: The name of the submission Content: The submission's content. AWAITING COMPLETION -------------------------------- N/A THE TRAVELLER'S GUIDE ENTRIES ----------------------------------------------- N/A
  6. Yo. So, I compiled a large, relatively in-depth (though mostly just in-general) recap for ROTR yesterday, and figured, what the heck, I might as well post it here for people (current players, past players, potential new players or just curious bystanders) to see just how far we've come since we began back in... April? Geez; only eight months? I thought i had been longer. O.o Well, regardless, here it is, for those interested. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Starting from the very top, the leaders of Team Liberty/TL (Goldhawk, Blackskull and Bluefalcon) gathered the majority of their agents into the auditorium of their main base, the Alamo, on Four Island, to discuss the new direction they would be taking in the war against Team Rocket/TR. The plan was essentially for agents to go out and recruit Legendary Pokémon, Gym Leaders and famous people (such as the game/manga/anime heroes) to their cause. TR had similar ideas and sent their own agents out to do the same thing. After a short time of this (roughly a month in-game time) both sides had managed to gather enormous power. However, this was minimized by the arrival of two new players in the war. One was a group called the Searchers, who were basically a shadow organization who produced new and advanced technology, some of which to be sold to TR and the majority to be used for their own purposes; they were led by a man going by the codename Searcher. The other was a terrorist going by the name of the Shadowed Man/John Ford, who, despite seeming to be allied with TR, had continuously attempted to pick off members of both sides. Ford managed to obtain the location of the Sevii Islands, where TL was operating from, and gave this to Sleight, the primary leader of TR. Sleight ordered Joker, another leader of TR, to use this information to launch a large scale attack on the Four Islands; bounty, the third of TR's four main leaders, caught wind of this during a battle with Blackskull and headed to Four Island himself. TR quickly set out on their mission, bringing a large force with them. As Goldhawk had left for Orre prior to this to look for a Raikou in Orre, Bluefalcon was left in sole command of Four Island, and quickly rallied TL's defenses. Soon after the battle started on the beach of Four Island, resulting in what seemed to be a stalemate; however, TL soon became overwhelmed and was pushed back. At the same time, Silvermind, a TL executive, gave a rebellion order in Hoenn, seeing the lower amount of TR forces there as an opportunity to take the region. The rebellion was successful and TR was almost completely pushed from the region. She then began issuing orders at 4 Island, and managed to even the odds using specially bred Pokémon teams. However, two events caused TL to be thrown into disarray once more. One was the bombing of the Alamo's control center by TR, which killed Green, one of TL's executives, and left Bluefalcon injured. The second event was the arrival of a massive TR airship, which caused general panic and such, though was eventually taken down by Registeel. Blackskull and Bounty soon arrived on the island, and Bounty, along with a TR Elite managed to infiltrate the base. Bounty was attacked by a TL agent controlling Registeel and was successfully held off until the attack ended, though the TR Elite, Jessica, managed to make her way into the Alamo's server room, which contained all of TL's data on virtually everything. Cutting form that really quickly, Bluefalcon was rescued by a TL agent in the ruins of the control center. Joker soon arrived, followed by Blackskull; however, Bluefalcon was teleported away by a Rocket defectee soon after, and an assassin hired by Ford attempted to kill Joker and Blackskull, managing to shoot Joker in the stomach, though neither was killed. Joker issued a retreat soon after, and was carried away by her escorts. Meanwhile, Bluefalcon caught wind of Jessica's presence in the server room and attempted to stop her squad, though she was overwhelmed by the combined forces of her opponents. Ford then caused the computers in the server room to explode, forcing Blackskull to watch; the resulting explosion nearly wiped out TL's database, injured many of the elite TR agents present, and killed Bluefalcon. TR thenr etreated from the island, badly beaten, though managing to leave TL standing on virtually one leg. Blackskull then set his agents to work repairing the Alamo, and promoted Silvermind as Bluefalcon's replacement. Silvermind's first act of leadership was to lead a group of agents to TR's master facility in Hoenn to attempt to remove TR's last remnants of their reign there. (Will continue this further down, once I explain more stuff.) Speaking of TR being removed from Hoenn -- Sleight had Ace, TR's fourth and final leader, arrested and demoted for her inability to keep Hoenn under her/TR's control. She was brought to Orre, where a trap was set in which Goldhawk picked her up and brought her to Team Cipher's old base. As part of the plan, Buzz, a TR executive, was ordered to assassinate them once they met up. Ford made sure that Goldhawk and Ace would be trapped in the base by locking them in the prison section, though Goldhawk's Electivire was able to free them. They attempted to flee from the base, though ran into Buzz on their way out, and in the following fight Ace was killed. Goldhawk was locked into a room, which began to be filled with tear gas that would have killed him, were it not for the timely arrival of the Orre Raikou, who freed him and, in an act of rage, killed one of Buzz's Yanma. Goldhawk allowed Buzz to leave, though not without a warning, stating that he would not be so merciful next time. Goldhawk returned to the Alamo, bringing Ace's body to be buried on 4 Island and without the Orre Raikou. For his success in killing Ace, albeit without Goldhawk, Buzz was promoted to Shadow Admin of Hoenn and given control of TR's master facility there. His first challenge was securing the base against Silvermind's elimination attempt. The new TL leader led a large team to the base, including the Gym Leaders Koga, Surge and Sabrina, who had arrived just before Silvermind left, though were met with much suspicion. They managed to get to the master facility and break in, though their attempt to eliminate TR there failed when the three GLs betrayed them. The result was Silvermind being captured and the other TL agents being brought back to 4 Island. As this was going on, Goldhawk had returned to 4 Island with the news about Ace, and was in turn given the news about TR's attack and the death of Bluefalcon. He was not given much time to grieve, though, as Ford attacked the Alamo himself shortly after. Blackskull and Goldhawk arrived to fight him, and were barely able to beat him back. Eventually they seemed to succeed; however, he escaped, and used his Darkrai to tear a hole in dimensional space. Blackskull was sucked in and presumably killed, though this has not been confirmed. Goldhawk was rescued from the rubble soon after, and seemed to be in shock when he was told of Silvermind's situation, though after several hours he recovered. Scott Stone, a TL agent, soon approached him with a possible rescue for Silvermind in the form of a drilling company called Soil Colossus. Though a shady organization, Goldhawk lacked the resources to carry out a rescue himself, and reluctantly agreed to the proposal. A second attack was launched on the Hoenn master facility, this time led by Carl Sandrock, SC's leader. The battle lasted for quite awhile, though they eventually were able to nab Silvermind; however, Carl betrayed them and took Silvermind to SC's base. He offered her up to both TR and TL, in exchange for a certain Manaphy found in Isshu. joker immediately agreed to the deal and began to put a team together, while Goldhawk was eventually convinced; however, he made sure to let Scott know that should the mission fail, TL may very well fall with it, and that would effectively be Scott's doing. Both the TR and TL teams met one of Carl's representatives in Rustboro, and took a plane to Isshu, where they have just arrived. That's TL's side; unfortunately there's a lot more. Following the incident with Ace in Orre, another TR executive named Shade concocted a plan to capture the dragon trio of Sinnoh, who seemed to be weakening. At the same time, a mysterious man named Sombra visited him and increased Shade's natural shadow powers (explained later.) Sombra then began going around and located nine Darkrai, speaking of the return of "Master" and having them use their special Spacial Rend attacks to create small dimensional holes, weakening the restrictions on their master (also explained later.) Team Galactic was also enlisted for help by Evan, Seth and Kinali, who were the dragon's chosen saviors, though it was found that TG planned to exploit the dragons' powers, and as such were temporarily beaten down by the trainers. After a series of smaller events, Shade gathered a force of TR agents at Spiral Tower, and summoned the dragons, who he captured with three Master Balls. The dragons battled with the three trainers and were eventually saved when Shade was betrayed by a girl named Bria, who he had brainwashed and lied to. The dragons, though not entirely healed, were freed, and the Rocket agents were arrested by Searcher agents. During this battle, it was also revealed that Shade was Seth's future son, who had accidentally been sent back in time and corrupted when, in the future, he had gone to check on the three dragons. Shade is currently being held captive in Chapel, Sleight's master facility. Tensions between Sleight and Bounty have also been rising as of late, as Sleight wishes to begin operations in Isshu and Bounty does not. This has not been explored all that much. A TR agent named Quinn also released a large number of Unown into the skies of Johto at one point. This will be explained more soon. Finally, a fourth sub group was inadvertently created by a TL agent named Cyan. He was formerly part of a resistance group that was crushed by TR prior to the RPG; however, he still had all of that team's data. Cyan got into contact with other survivors form that group and used the data to continue their project. They managed to create a large number of Porygon that could absorb power from Legendary Pokémon, testing this with samples taken from the Unown. While testing the absorption capabilities on a Mew he had befriended, the others betrayed him, implying that they intended to use the technology for other uses. Cyan narrowly escaped with Mew, though the others continued the project and created a faction agaisnt both TR and TL, Team Energon. While all of these groups were busy with their own devices, Ford had plans of his own. Changing his game, Ford concluded that the only way to bring peace to the world was by eliminating both the current government/TR and its opposition/TL. To do this, he needed the other three sub-factions, Teams Energon and Galactic and the Searchers. Ford sent three of his own agents out: James Pierce would negotiate an alliance with Team Energon, Maddison Hayes would ally Team Galactic with them, and Quincy Adams would find a lone Team Rocket agent and use their influence over the Unown to seal the swarm of Symbol Pokémon back in their own dimension. Ford would talk with the Searchers himself and get them to ally with him and the others. Negotiations went smoothly, and all three sub-factions were reeled in with the promise of control over one of the three regions they would take over. Ford divulged his plan to them, stating that they would launch an attack on Four Island using their various resources: Team Energon would drain power from Mewtwo, while energy taken by the Searchers from Arceus when he briefly appeared at Spear Tower would be used in conjunction with their Legendaries, temporarily giving them a power boost; meanwhile, modified Red Chains from TG would be used to prolong the effects of the Arceus energy. Currently, they are preparing, and the plan is for them to launch their attack on 4 Island once the Soil Colossus mission ends. I also have a very, very, very long list of about a third of the currently active and important characters; I'll probably post an updated version of it here too later on.
  7. This is my entry in the Memoirs of the Dead contest. Brothers The green Toa darts right, swinging his blade towards me. I easily block then flip his blade out of his grasp. He quickly recovers, and blasts me with a torrent of wind. I dodge out of the way and fire my Zamor Launcher, knocking my adversary down. He quickly jumps back to his feet. I’m not sure who this Toa is, but I know one thing: he is good. Almost too good. He calls upon his elemental power to bring his sword to him. I fire my launcher again, forcing him to dodge and breaking his concentration. The blade drops to the ground. As I charge the Toa, I call upon my elemental power to bring his blade to me. It flies from the ground and into my hand. He responds quickly, blasting me with a wall of Air that knocks me off my feet. As he approaches, I ready myself. He is almost on top of me when I launch myself at him, smashing into his chest feet-first. When the dust clears, I am standing atop my adversary with the two blades crossed across his neck, ready to behead him at a moment’s notice. “What is your name?” I ask. “Lesovikk,” he replies. “Well, Lesovikk,” I say. “You certainly have promise. I would be willing to help you hone your skills, if you like.” The Toa of Air stares at me. “Now why would I need your help? I’m a veteran Toa, you’re just a rookie.” I laugh. “You think a rookie would know how to pin you like this?” “I guess not,” he replies. “But I still don’t think I can learn anything from you.” “Have it your way,” I say, though I do not release him. He gives me a questioning look. “Well?” he asks. “Aren’t you going to release me?” “And let you attack me from behind? Do you take me for a fool?” Lesovikk appears thoughtful. “If I promise to let you ‘hone my skills’, will you let me go?” I nod and step off him. Lesovikk climbs to his feet and stretches. Then he turns to me. “Where are we going to go?” he asks. “To a place I know,” I reply. We walk for about ten minutes, with Lesovikk following me. “Hey,” he calls. I turn towards him. “You never told me your name.” “Jovan,” I respond. “Toa Jovan.” *** We soon reach the cave that I have in mind, and we enter. Lesovikk is holding his blade rather tightly, as I had returned it to him before we arrived. I find his behavior curious, though I think it best not to ask. As we near the center of the cave, the light increases. We then enter the central chamber. Lesovikk’s eyes widen in awe, for the chamber is a sight to behold. Sunlight shines through the holes in the roof at odd angles and reflects off the crystals lodged in the walls. The floor is smooth, as are the walls and roof, and a stream crosses the chamber in its center. We walk to the center of the chamber. I turn to Lesovikk. “Will this do for a training area?” I ask. Lesovikk nods, still dumbstruck by the beauty of the chamber. “Then we shall begin.” I lunge at Lesovikk, who barely manages to bring his blade up to block. I feint right and swing at his head. Suddenly I am thrown backwards by a blast of air, and my blade the slides to the side, out of my reach. Lesovikk raises his blade and prepares to impale me. I activate my Kanohi Kadin and fly between his legs, knocking the Toa of Air off balance. I use my powers to call my blade to me then charge Lesovikk. My opponent calls up a windstorm, which follows me around the chamber. I am able to stay ahead of it, though it keeps me from reaching Lesovikk. I need to formulate another strategy. Then it comes to me. I use my power to yank Lesovikk’s sword out of his hand. He loses his concentration and the storm disappears. I now angle my body so that I am aiming directly at the Toa of Air. I find myself on the ground, pinned by Lesovikk. The Toa has somehow jumped onto my back and forced me to the ground. “Nice one,” I comment. “It’s what I do,” Lesovikk replies. “Get used to it.” Over the next few weeks we continue to train, growing stronger every day. Our friendship also grows, and our trust in one another is strengthened. We spend our nights sitting in the central chamber, or trekking through the nearby forest. It is during one of out walks that Lesovikk tells me of his team. He tells me about the many adventures they had, fighting off rahi, protecting villages. He told about their personalities and traits.Tonight was the first night I had ever seen Lesovikk smile, and he looks so much better when he does. He moves on to the encounter with the Zyglak. He shudders as he remembers his fatal mistake, his hesitation, and sorrow engulfs him. I am deeply moved by my comrade’s story. It expands my view of the world. I help him back to the chamber and we rest. *** Today we practice melee combat. Lesovikk seems to have recovered, but I cannot be sure. Better to play it safe. As we practice, a messenger Gukko arrives. It is from the nearby village that we have often visited. I read the note aloud and gasp. It says the village was under attack. We grab our gear and charge through the forest. Smoke is rising in the distance. We arrive to find the village burning. Zyglak prowl the streets. Lesovikk stands still, seemingly scared out of his wits. I realize why and panic. We will both need to work together to defend the village. “Lesovikk!” I whisper. “Pull yourself together! These Matoran need you.” Something lights up in Lesovikk’s eyes. He pulls out his blade and prepares to charge. I join him. Together we charge into the village. The Zyglak appear surprised, as they probably were not expecting Toa to arrive. We slice through the first wave and proceed forward. The others notice us and attack. We fend them off easily, but they keep coming. I see a gap in the sea of enemies, and charge it. I burst into a small clearing, with a lone Zyglak standing in the middle. The Zyglak is tall, ugly, and completely black. He is despicable, in my opinion. I ready myself to fight. The sound of battle disappears, and I know Lesovikk has entered the clearing. I am just about to address my comrade when he gasps. “You,” Lesovikk snarls. The black Zyglak chuckles. “So you remember me,” he says. “I was hoping you’d come. I tried to warn my minions that you would be coming, but the idiotic fools forgot.” Lesovikk stares at the black Zyglak, whom I have decided to call ‘Black’. The Zylgak returns his stare, and the two become locked in a face off. Lesovikk charges Black, who easily blocks his strike. The two are now locked in a fierce struggle, and either side could win. “I will not let you harm these Matoran,” Lesovikk snarls. “They will not be butchered like my team.” Black makes no response; instead he swings his blade at Lesovikk’s head, though the Toa dodges. I am so fixated on the fight I do not notice the Zyglak sneaking up behind me. Just before he impales me on his blade, I spin around and strike him with the flat of my blade, and he crumples to the ground. This causes the horde to scream in outrage, and they rush at me. I know that I must keep them from Lesovikk, as he is not skilled enough to take them all on at once. I defeat Zyglak after Zyglak, but there seems to be no end to their ranks. I continue to defend my comrade, but I know I cannot keep this up forever. Just as I am about to collapse from exhaustion, the Zyglak stop fighting, staring behind me in amazement. I turn to see Lesovikk yank his sword out of Black’s chest, and the latter collapses, now just a lifeless corpse. “That’s for my team,” he growls. I turn to find the Zyglak horde retreating, helpless and aimless without their leader. As soon as they leave the village, the Matoran run out of their huts to thank us for our actions. We allow them to thank us, and then we return to the chamber. *** It is now one day after our battle with the Zyglak, and Lesovikk appears troubled. “What is the matter brother?” I ask. “I must go on,” the green Toa replies. “I have other friends I must find.” I nod and reach into my pack. I pull out a Cordak Blaster and hand it to Lesovikk. “This is for you,” I say. “You have earned it.” Lesovikk graciously accepts the gift, then turns to go. He pauses for a moment and turns back to me. He nods his head in my direction, and I return the gesture. Then Lesovikk turns, and disappears over the horizon. *** I, Lesovikk, happened upon this journal of Jovan’s on my way to Mahri Nui and felt obligated to add something. I have always looked fondly back on those weeks we spent together, and have even placed the Cordak Blaster he gave me on my sea sled. It serves as a reminder of my dead brother, who helped shape me into the Toa I am today. Author: DeltaStriker Protagonist: Jovan Word Count: 1,601 Edit 1: This first edit added the second ***. I made no changes to the story itself. Edit 2: This next edit added the final paragraph (With permission) Edit 3: No changes to story, just formatting fixes.
  8. Hello everybody. My main story, The Adventures of Sandstorm, has many tie-ins to smaller stories, almost too many to write. So I am pulling several MOCed characters out of the TAoS universe, despite what I have said in the previous year. Among these characters are: Sidearm Kronux Korvux Skeletrex Hielo Ozzy the Ostrich Terrax Vortikus Reflection Slice Lobo and Akmuo All of these characters will receive a story in this topic. The stories will generally range from 500 to 1000 words each, and some tie-ins may occur between them. Story #1 "Akmuo's Ordeal" scheduled for release 6/25/14

    The Boy in Winter

This is a bit late, I wanted to have it up earlier... and I wanted to do a different story but the files for it are all over 500kb and need to be edited. It has been a pain trying to edit them. So today in honor of the coming winter and holiday season we have a more festive themed entry. Enjoy. The Boy in Winter
  10. This is a topic for everyone to share their stories of Bionicles, Bionicle pieces, masks, etc. they have lost, and maybe found years later! My first Kanohi mask, Gali Nuva's Kaukau, had been missing since 2008. I was devastated to have lost it since it was my first mask from my first set. I thought I would never find it again. But last week, while going through a bunch of old stuff in the loft of my garage, I discovered several Bionicle pieces. I sorted through them, and to my surprise (and joy), I found that blue Kaukau Nuva along with 2003 Hewkii's Kakama which had also been missing for several years. I was overjoyed, to say the least.
  11. This is my first comedy, enjoy! The Toa Nuva had always been enemies. No, Takua, not enemies as Good is with Evil, more along the lines of sibling rivalries. These are their stories of countless house-battles on who gets to turn on the TV first and why they need to go to bed on time. The List of Characters: Tahu, the fiery older brother Gali, the over-reactive second-oldest Lewa, the fun-loving 9-year old Onua, the geology nut Pohatu, the speedy one Kopaka, the No-nonsense, all work, no play guy The Turaga, the grandparents Mata Nui and his wife, Makuta, the tyranical and softie parents And YOU! The occasional Guest Star who gets thrown into the middle of all their fights. Wait, me? Who’s me? Oh, you mean ME, as in the narrator. Nothing really happens to me except the occasional--- Watch out! Lewa is using his dirty clothes as a mace! HEHEHE!!! OUCH! Bad Lewa! Well, we’d better get this over with before someone gets seriously injured . ROLE FILMS! PM Me if you want to guest star!

    Good Stories

As a writer, I believe it is very important to read as much as you can. And not just in your preferred genre, either. Try to read in a variety of different genres, if possible, because good writing is good writing no matter what it is garbed in. As a matter of fact, read nonfiction books, too. Histories, philosophical/theological books, scientific books, personal memoirs, 'how to' books, etc, etc. Nonfiction not only works as research, but also aids writers in expanding their horizon and deepening their understanding of humanity. I truly believe that a writer can only ever truly become a great writer by understanding humanity to the best extent that he or she can, even if that requires discarding cherished beliefs in favor of those that make more sense in light of what the writer now knows. It's true that you won't be able to read every book out there, but you don't need to. You only need to read as many books as you can get. And this isn't a one-time deal, either, but something you do over a lifetime (if you're serious about writing, that is). It's also true that some books out there really, really, really suck. I mean, REALLY suck. They're so awful that it's all you can do to turn the page in the faint hope that maybe it will get better, only to be disappointed to discover the same drivel that was on the previous page. In that case, I suggest either putting the book down or figuring out just what is so bad about it so you can avoid duplicating such awfulness in your own writing in the future. On the flipside, you're bound to find some absolute gems, whether in fiction or nonfiction. You know what I'm talking about. The kind of books that you don't want to -- no, can't -- put down because they are so exciting, so interesting, perhaps even thought-provoking. They are the ones that inspire you, that challenge you to dare meet their standard of excellence. And so you place them on a tall mountain and attempt to reach them with all your might, even though you are aware you might never reach their stand of excellence no matter how hard you try, which actually gives you the impetus to try harder, rather than give up in frustration and anger at your own limitations. Comic books, movies, TV shows, short stories, plays, and other forms of storytelling media can be every bit as excellent as a good book. I say this partly to be fair and partly so that you will be encouraged to look for good storytelling in all media, regardless of how it is presented. Good stories are good whether presented on stage, in a bound book, or on a computer screen. And if you're a serious writer, you should strive with every good story to find out why it is so good and then apply that to your own writing as best as you can. Why am I writing all of this? I can't say. It's just a thought that popped into my mind recently. As I haven't wrote a substantial blog entry in a while, I thought it would be worth typing up and posting. Hope it's coherent, at least . -TNTOS-

    Books

So I'm at work as of right now. Sitting, as usual. And I've really wanted to get back into reading fiction. (I think I came to this conclusion cause I was having a huge moment of nostalgia last night. Seriously guys, I had no idea how many great memories I had playing Hotwheels, and Eyewitness Virtual Reality Museum tours. The dino one was the BEST! My childhood was beast man.) But see, the only thing that really makes me read a story is when I begin reading, but I still have in the back of my mind that there's something more than what meets the eye. (Or at least I hope for that.) A story where they latch you by the neck and pull you closer the more you read. And soon or later you realize what a mess you've gotten yourself into, and now you can't stop reading! Tolkien was pretty successful with that, though, the poetry parts made me yawn. (No, I will not get into an argument about the significance of Tom Bombadil.) Poetry's just not my thing. I am very much into science fiction/fantasy. So.... Could you recommend something for me? That would be awesome...
  14. Surprised by the length? Ugh, why didn't you read the tags? =/ Yeah, so I have this weakness... Whenever I get into a story that I'm really interested in (hook, line, sinker... and it turns out I'm just a rubber boot that got caught on the fishing line. Trololololol), I just can't stop. Be it a book, a show, a video game, etc, I just need to finish it. Truth be told I only felt that way, really, about Bionicle 2006. After 2007 I had no further deep desires to see the story end. Not that I'm badmouthing Bionicle or anything (Well, I badmouth whoever's idea it was to kill Teridax with a giant rock. All the time, seriously. XD It's my favorite joke ever. XP), but that's just my opinion and I am allowed to have an opinion. ^^ Anyway... After a weekend I managed to finish Fullmetal Alchemist (2003), and it's a wonderful show. ^^ Rough around the edges, granted, but it was still pretty awesome. I kinda wish I'd gotten into it sooner, actually. All of the philosophy in there really made me feel nostalgic about when I was around the characters' ages asking the same questions and coming to similar answers. I bet this show could've helped me out with my weird little thoughts about death and life's cycle. But enough about my happy, sun shining childhood. XP I'm a bit surprised that Brotherhood apparently has fewer episodes. They really moved things around from the past series based on the first two episodes. =/ I like a few things so far, but I'm mainly noticing that if I started out watching Brotherhood first I'd be going "WHAT THE PANDA?!" all over the bamboo forest that is Fullmetal Alchemist. XP Glad I went with the 2003 version so far. ^^ I think it covers the main characters' pasts a lot better, personally. However, I know this series has loads of praise, so I'm actually anticipating quite a bit for the other episodes. ^^ Stay Breezy, Tekulo

I would also like to thank a few others. Firstly, to 55555 who was my fellow host and whose help is invaluable. I'd also like to thank Ziko and Zeddy for their assistance. Furthermore, I'd like to thank in a special way xccj who has been a great help in both this and the Short Stories #8 Contest, always ready and willing to give his advice and offer his help when 5 5's and I called. And to everyone else, for making this contest run smoothly. While I am somewhat disappointed at the shortage of entries, I am happy that the contest was still a success and the great entries it received. 55555Velox
  17. I was working on a new chapter for my epic in the Library and I realized to my annoyance that the word filter catches words I had used in dialogue for my characters. And finding that where you wanted an insult, the phrase "cool dude" has popped up makes for an awkward paragraph. I realize we don't want people calling each other names or swearing, but is there any way to fix the filter so that stories can use the non-swear words?-HH
  18. Chapter 1, The Village of Fire, has been completed as of last night. It's a bit shorter than the prologue, though it covers everything I wanted to cover in it -- as well as introduces the second of several new characters to the story. So yeah. Getting started on Chapter 2 now; hopefully I'll finish before I have to leave for my mom's house.
  19. So I've started rewriting Broken Unity, and it's going really well. Like, I can't even begin to describe. I'm literally giddy with excitement as I'm writing this, and I don't mean that as a joke. I've put a LOT more effort into it this time around, and that coupled with the massive amount of writing experience I have no compared to when I first started it, and it's really just.... awesome. Not only is it the longest thing I've written in a long while, but, well.... it's the first independent, solo-written piece that I'm actually proud to have written in a long while. And it's not even finished yet! Whew. But yeah. With any luck, things will go better this time around than when I first wrote it, because I have a more solid plan figured out for it this time around. From the get-go, I can tell you that the Dark Hunters are far more fleshed out and characterized than they previously were, and I've also gone to greater lengths to describe the scenery and set up of the Makutas' plan. Not to mention things are being set up easier and more naturally than they previously had been -- no more surprise extra beings appearing! So yeah. I'm really happy right now. Also, no, I don't know when I'm going to start posting it. Probably after I've gotten a couple of chapters written, that way if I fall behind my writing schedule, I'll still have something to post. UPDATE: 11/4/11, 11:18 P.M. Alright; so at this point, I'm on track for NaNo, and progress with Broken Unity is going smoothly. Once again, I think I'm doing a fantastic job with the narrative and my writing in general, and at this point, I have finished the prologue and have moved on to the first chapter. So yeah. Something I feel I should share about the story -- there are going to be a number of changes to the plot this time around, though the general story will still be the same. The majority of the characters are going to be sticking around, and I'm also going to introduce some new ones on top of a few new, better plots -- already I feel like they're making things go more smoothly than before, so hopefully you guys will enjoy them as much as I am. Yeah. Just an update. Also my current official NaNo stats: Your Average Per Day - 1,641 Words Written Today - 1,075 Target Word Count - 50,000 Target Average Words Per Day - 1,667 Total Words Written - 6,566 Words Remaining - 43,434 Current Day - 4 Days Remaining - 27 At This Rate You Will Finish On - November 30, 2011 Words Per Day To Finish On Time - 1,609 Tomorrow is going to be a mass writing day for me, due to the fact that I won't get as much of a chance to write next week while I'm at my mom's house, so hopefully I can jump way ahead of schedule; if not then I'll work something out so as to be able to still get stuff done next week. Also, just out of curiosity, who else here is participating this time around? My username is "Kovian" if anyone wants to add me.
  20. That's right, the topic is indeed up. Click on the picture above to get to it. Credits of course, are following. To the people who made the CCC Awards for giving Spawn, Riising, and myself this idea. To Spawn of Teridax and Riisiing Moon, for coming up with the idea, and scheming about it with me. Especially Riisiing moon, for totally revamping my draft, cutting out all the unneeded parts. Any faults in the finalized form are totally mine. To, Um, everyone I forgot who I forced to proofread the draft. Also, if anyone wants to advertise... 21. Here are my planned, unpublished short stories. -Going Under- Not exactly sure of this story's plot. Most likely it will be around the LoMN time, with Nidhiki now as a insect dude. -Forgiven- It is said that the greatest battle is fought in the mind. Nidhiki, now merely a spirit inside the twisted mind of Makuta Teridax, finds out that it is all to true. All his life he has fought with the sword and the knife, now he is unprepared for this battle not of physical strength, but of willpower. -Hero of War- Also in its early planning stages, it'll be to the song Hero f War by Rise Against, and it's going to be about a Toa either in, or a survivor from, the Toa dark hunter war. -(Title not chosen as of yet)- An epic this time, it's going to be taking place during the Toa Dark Hunter war. However, it will be from the PoV of the Metru Nui Matoran for the most part. And, um, those are all I can remember right now. Thoughts?
  22. Oh the things I think of at 11 PM at night, when my mind is engaged in doing everything but sleeping. So basically, I got this idea for a character. A former Christian, who left the faith, because he's positively terrified of the supernatural. Anyone know what that phobia would be called, btw? -Zar-
  23. Grantaire

    Genres

Alright, I've put together some story genres. Anything I should add? Anything that should be removed? These genres, for the record, are going to be used in the upcoming SS awards. -Zar-
  24. Going under part four has been posted! -Zar-
  25. No, not the band, I posted a story by that name in COT yesterday. It's what you might call 'dark'. If you liked my story Monster, you'll probably like this.
