Adders and I were brewing a plot a short time back, I'll probably be putting that into action within the next few days. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow, depending on how much attention watching my siblings requires this evening.

I'm sure that should be interesting, whatever you come up with, something to help really get things going.

Okay. After midterms conclude this week, expect me to finally post my profile and actively play.

Sorry, meant to keep that going along, but moving house into a place with no internet connection (only a few more days until they finally set that up for me...) has rather stymied my activity

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalrighty.*blows off dust*I spent two days debating that this sort of game could work, and I'm not about to prove the other guy right so easily. :P This was originally meant to be sandbox, but I think it's time to inject some structured plot to revive activity. What I need, first of all, is a role call. Who's still playing, and who has an intention of joining in the near future? Second of all, if you had a plot you were planning, it would be appreciated if you could send the outline to me so I can try to avoid crushing your dreams too much. My inbox may not have space right now, but if it does not, I will be clearing some shortly,

I was just trying to send you the outline of my plot, or at least the few ideas I have (I haven't really set anything in stone yet) but it says you cannot receive new messages.

I am still playing, believe it or not. Sorry about my rather limited sparse activity though.

My plot ideas were more just winging it and going along with whatever happened. I haven't even touched upon the world I submitted for this RPG at all either, though, mostly because I'm not sure what to do with it...

Atton, I cleaned out some of my fanmail (As if. :P) to make some room in my inbox. You should be able to send your message now. Lev, you've been more active than I have, so I have no room to complain about your activity anyway. :pAlright, so to make sure I have this correct:Most of the active characters are Terran in origin, with one or two Earthers and a Dominion. John Smith and the folks at the border (A Terran, two Erdians, a Tianxian, and a Timey-wimey origin guy) are mostly inactive, because no one has done much. Alriiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, let's see what I can do with this...

Right. I have an interest in rejoining the RPG. Since I've been only semi-active in the RPG so far and frankly, Atton's dedication to an RPG once he joins it puts alot of members to shame (I've been reading that Dino Attack TVtropes page).

That aside, I've got a rough concept jotted down, figured I'd bounce it off of whoever is active.

A small blackops cell. Founded by beings who've been made aware of the threat the Blasted Lands pose through an alliance with the Serpent People.
This cell plans to defend their world, any other worlds they deem it practical to make the effort for, from the Blasted Lands. That said, they'd be more then willing to burn two or three cities down to save four. So far as they are concerned, the Godzilla Threshold has come and gone and....fire cleanses.
Sound good as concept?

Wow, thank you. I didn't really know anyone other than myself and PeabodySam had been spending time there. It's good to know that for all our effort someone's been reading it.

It's an interesting idea. The military aspect of the whole thing should fit in nicely with what's going on in Terra, not to mention it'll be a suitable foil to my own military depictions, since most of my posts involving Terra have been centered on army doctors (yes, I do have some soldier NPCs, but they haven't gotten as much focus), so it would add a new angle to see someone focusing more on the actual combat. I presume you're planning to sign up as a specific individual of this cell?

You say that the cell plans to defend "Their World". I think it is worth asking just what world they're from, or are they supposed to be an international organization composed of people from different places, perhaps combining uses of technology and magic?

It does also pique my curiosity as to just what sort of role these guys (or girls, assuming it's co-ed) will play ultimately, since they strike me as being what you might call a well-intentioned extremist, which leads me to wonder if they'll ultimately be heroes or if they'll end up taking a more antagonistic role eventually, or if they'll end up flipping back and forth depending on the situation.

It was just a rough concept, the world I was planning on was Terra.

It'd probably depend heavily on the situation.

I know my last thought was technically subjective. I just found it rather interesting and thought it would be worth mentioning. Terra would make sense. Perhaps you can join up with Narys and provide an alternate perspective (that would be interesting, between a combat medic, a mech fairy, and a black ops specialist, we'd get some very different views on the current situation).

I think that'd work out nicely. Perhaps he could hire them to help him hunt down an item or creature from the Blasted Lands.

Well, there could be some threat from the blasted lands that might lead to black ops working in the army. There is a certain plot thread I've talked to Snark about already that could potentially incorporate some of that.

Zyke, feel free to have Ivan run into John at the border, if you wish.

Well, it would make a certain amount of sense since they're both scientists trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The only trouble is I thought John was busy interacting with some inactive characters.

To add to the Ivan bit, Zyke's also already got a character (the phoenix lady) at the border, and two in one place sometimes gets confusing and begins to book-write, almost.

Inactivity.. oh dear. Rikor's about to have some "fun".. great.

Lastly.. can we please give the two sides in Terra names or something? It's hard to write about possible civil war without knowing the name of your side or even the other side. :P

Something like, iunno,

The United Capitalistic Terran Democracy (UCTD), the National Republic of Terrat, the Common Terran's Party

or, if we're going for more country v. country,

Aurimany, the United Estates, Poliaru, Allied Corperations...

iunno, just give 'em names :P

I just had a strange thought. It occurred to me recently that many of the prominent fantasy-type characters from Erde/other fantasy-type worlds have largely been separated from the more realistically-minded science-fiction/historical-type characters.

As far as I can recall the whole border thing was largely fantasy-type characters. People like Rikor, the walking talking skeleton held together by magic (I must try to resist the urge to ask how he is able to speak without vocal cords, or how he is capable of thought without a brain) and Tara the Pheonix woman quickly spring to mind. Meanwhile a Terran (a bit more of space opera-type character) teams up with the more historically-inspired Will and Dr. Millstone (the former being very 1940's-based, the latter more Victorian) are all joining up on a boat, and some people from Terra are together in the desert.

It's also fascinating how the few interactions that two seem to take place (the pirates attacking the Capulet, the mysterious antagonists of Narys' plotline) seem to end up casting the magic-users in a more villainous light, and I've got a feeling that was not intended. I mean I don't know much about fantasy but maybe there's a way to bring some of these worlds together a bit more, and perhaps to balance things out a bit so that it doesn't come off as "science fiction is good, fantasy is evil".

I don't know if this makes sense to anyone but it was just a thought I figured was worth sharing.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Currently, though, since we've got no plotlines focusing on the good magic-wielders active, that's just how it comes across. :P

Hopefully it'll be solved with Snark's big huge plotline coming up. :P

As for Rikor... well..

This.

This.

To which I quote famous science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke:

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Anyway, I'm sure there'll be some way of bringing more into that eventually. It's probably easier to start by focusing on the characters we know are active and expanding from there. I've already shared some ideas with Snark and he and Omega'd are already on board with them, so there is a possibility of them forming at least part of the main narrative. I don't know what else he has planned, though.

Also come to think of it Sisen said some time ago that he would post a profile by the end of the week, and he still hasn't done that.

Oooo. I should go write my character profile finally. However, I've got two essays due this week for school... I'll have a week after next week of free time to actually join in and start participating. Actually, just bother me until I make my character profile and post it. (Starting next week that is).

He got it backwards.

No, no, no, it's -

"Any sufficiently advanced — and repeatable — magic is indistinguishable from technology."

Order of the Stick reference quota for the day met.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Currently, though, since we've got no plotlines focusing on the good magic-wielders active, that's just how it comes across. :P

I may have an idea, in the realms of magic...

Okay then, I will admit I am rather curious as to what Sisen comes up with for his profile.

These discussions are all well and good but does anyone else think we should get a bit of roleplaying in, or should we wait until Snark finally sets the plot in motion?
