Marvel Rebirth: Discussion

Recommended Posts

To be honest, if the virus rewrites someone from the DNA up, not sure they'd even keep their powers.

Frankly, saying "vampires exist" isn't enough. I've got a plot in the works to explore their origins a bit. So hopefully it won't just become another rule of cool fad.

I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are the good people and the bad people. You are wrong, of course. There are, always and only, the bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides.

As it stands I can't approve Ashlynn either. For one thing I don't like Vampire + Mutant, seems like way too much power. Also, Warren wouldn't let an alternate Ashlynn anywhere -near- the school, probably would try to kill her really.

Removed the telepathic power. The last statement I'm not sure of. If she can't have the Phoenix in her since she's a vampire I don't see why he'd kill her.

Why did vampires get turned sciency all of a sudden? The setting already has magic and the supernatural, it makes sense that vampires would fall under that.

Not trying to upset what people have already come up with or anything, just wondering.

Because I don't think "Magic, therefore it can't be explained" is....uh, well enough.

Everything I do is not endorsed by the staff, I'm just trying to help out by keeping things explainable, trying to make sure the supernatural doesn't run wild like it did last time. By bringing it a bit down to Earth, I'm hoping we can avoid vampires/werewolves/whatever from suddenly gaining new abilities. Like they did in the last RPG.

I'm working with the people playing supernaturals as best I can on this.

Just because it's magic doesn't mean science doesn't apply. Magic is just a word for a scientific concept we don't understand yet.

I'm with Silvan on this. Vampires have always been supernatural. I'm not sure I like this scientific explanation. You can explain it as a virus, but its still a supernatural virus. Most virus' don't make people undead blood suckers.

Also as for the vampire healing if you look at Robin Huntian's profile who is a dhampir (half vampire half human) he has a healing factor. Not saying this means that vampires should have them, just saying there is a profile in existence with one. (though a staff profile)

Since I very much do not want to get into an argument/discussion about what magic is, all I'm going to say is that in a world where the Afterlife is a thing, it's not just all advanced science.

If people were using the vagueness of the supernatural to randomly gain new powers however, then I agree that some things need to be pined down.

Werewolves gained telepathy. Somehow.

Just one notable incident. So yeah, just trying to help out and pin down some hard limits. Even if it is all unendorsed and with no real power.

I agree that we shouldn't get into a debate over what "magic" is however.

I think there's a misunderstanding about what I'm refering to as science. The scientific method. A way of explaining the universe that has proven very reliable. Applying science to this problem makes it, by default, science. It has no bearing on any afterlife or anything like that.

We looked at subject-001, by we, I mean I and her player, and talked it through. We looked at what hurt her, what didn't and what she could do. That's the explanation we came up with. It brings us no closer to where Vampires actually came from though.

And I very much doubt a virus like this evolved naturally.

I'd eat my lab coat if it did.

Robin Huntian has also only received one approval, to my knowledge, because I have an issue with that same healing factor, amongst other things with the character.

On a completely different note, would any of the active SHIELD agents be informed of Ripple's attack on the Archangel convoy, or would only the top brass know? Because Nagato-san has nothing to do...

The initial Daken post marked his escape for Fury's eyes only; for right now I don't think it would be common knowledge quite yet. Top brass would be hesitant to admit that someone got the jump on them.

I figured that I should finally get my rear in gear and post this: (Darkest Days)

Name: Sierra Reyna

Codename: N/A

Gender: Female

Age: 15

Loyalties/Faction: X-men, but her loyalties are shaky to all but her mother.

Power(S): Sierra only has one power: the ability to turn into a wolf/bat hybrid. In this form she's the size of your average draft horse, and has about the same strength. She can also fly while in this state.

Appearance: While human, Sierra is on the shorter side of average and is extremely skinny, almost emaciated. She is somewhat pretty, but not noticeably so. She has very pale skin, and her long, wavy hair would be white if not for the slightest blond tint. Most of her facial features are nondescript but cute, except for her eyes which are a striking lavender in color. If you were to see her from far away when transformed, Sierra would look like a large wolf with bat-like wings. Upon closer inspection, however, you would see that her toes are elongated, alowing her to grasp objects while in flight. She usually wears long clothes to cover up where her human skin may have reformed strangely.

Weapons: N/A

Skills: Sierra doesn't have many talents, but she is fairly skilled in weapons and survivorship. She is also a clever strategist, athletic, and is well versed in the art of deception.

Personality: Sierra is quiet and prefers to go unnoticed. She is almost never happy, and hates having to pretend otherwise. She is gentle with children and loves animals, but she has an unpredictable temper that makes her unreliable and untrustworthy. She is also prone to fits of hysteria in which she is uncontrollably angry/depressed, but laughs and acts sadistic. She has strong "ideals" and reacts badly if they are questioned, even if in a logical way. She secretly enjoys killing humans and thinks of it as a natural process. Or is that really her?

Weaknesses: Sierra does not work well with others, is incapable of advanced thought when in wolf form, and is generally untrustworthy. She is prone to self destructive behavior, does not know how to use her abilities to her advantage, and pushes away most people who would want anything to do with her.

Bio: Sierra's mother and father were thrilled when they found out that their little girl was "special", mostly because of their radical beliefs relating to predation and its relationship with evolution. They were under the impression that "normal" humans needed a predator, and that they had been given the rare chance to make one, but something stood in their way: the girl herself. Small, shy, and with a weak, almost useless power, she was in many ways a disappointment. They discovered a way around this when their second child, Any, was born. Her power was to negatively affect the emotions of those around her, something which they could use to their advantage. After a while Sierra's parents realized that Any's influence would cause their oldest child's powers to strengthen, and would give her more pain as a result, compounding the effect. Unfortunately, Sierra's father disappeared a while later from unknown causes, prompting the entrance and subsequent exit of many boyfriends for her mother, each more radical than the last. Eventually, Sierra herself came to believe that her mother's ideas would benefit the world as a whole, and she went to stay at Xavier's school for unknown reasons shortly after the mysterious passing of her sister.

August Update:

Sierra's mother seems to finally have her life on the right track, and some things that have been said are brought into question. Unfortunately, some people from the past are back again - to stay.

Name: Eric Abrams

Codename: HarbingerAge: 27Gender: MaleFaction: Hydra

Power(S): Eric has the mutant power to release a red energy around his hands that is able to wither away anything (except living cells) he touches, he calls it disintegration energy. Because of this he wears two special black gloves that were crafted to cancel out his power. So when wearing them his weapons won't begin to disintegrate. Inorganic objects will begin to disintegrate, if he holds a wall for a about five minutes the wall would start to crumble away. The harder the substance is, for example metal or something the longer it will take for him to break it down. Metal or other incredibly strong material would take a long time. If he held his hand on someone organic it wouldn’t affect them at all, it only affects inorganic objects.

Eric's second mutation is the ability to create smoke. The smoke pours from his mouth and nostrils and he can unleash a good amount of smoke at a time. He uses this smoke to hide or limit his enemies vision while fighting. Eric's vision is likewise limited however.Appearance: Eric usually hides what he looks like. He wears a black bandana over the top of his head, and a small black cloth mask that reaches up to the bridge of his nose. Eric’s skin is incredibly pale, and his eyes are pure scarlet, no pupils, no irises just straight red. Eric’s entire body is covered with jagged scars, so he wears bandages wrapped around most of his skull, and his body beneath his clothes. He wears a thick, black trench-coat that is slightly torn in several places and has a few bullets holes in it. He also wears a grey Kevlar vest over his chest and a pair of baggy black pants with lots of pockets. He always wears a pair of large combat boots that elevate his height to almost 7’1’’. Over his eyes Eric wears a pair of circular red glasses at all times, he also wears a pair of obsidian gloves. Like this!

Weapons: Eric uses many weapons combined with his mutant powers. He carries a SPAS-12 shotgun strapped to his backside beneath his trench-coat at all times. He has at least three combat knives stashed on him, and also a machete. He has a desert eagle with a red laser sight placed at his hip and also a AR-15 is strapped to his back as well. He has a longsword also hanging from one of his hips in a black sheath. He also has about four grenades on his person.

Skills: Eric is an excellent shot and is also skilled with the blade. He can turn almost anything into a weapon if he needs to, be it a pen etc.

Personality: Eric’s personality is as dark as his appearance. He is a killer and nothing more. He wouldn’t think twice about killing almost anyone in the world, he has killed so many people it has become second nature to him. Killing makes sense to Eric, nothing else does.

Weakness: Eric isn’t the most physically strongest, or the fastest mutant around, he is also weak against telepathic attacks.

Bio: Eric was born into a military family. When he was seventeen he joined the Marines to make his family proud. He was an excellent soldier, doing everything his commanders told him without a second thought. He quickly moved up ranks within the organization until one day his mutant powers activated out of the blue. He’d been on the first line of a military battle where he’d been shot in the knee, left for dying on the field, bleeding out.

Eric was slowly bleeding his eyes suddenly turned blood red. He was grabbed by a fellow soldier and as he touched the soldier's clothes they began to disintegrate away. Eric was then placed in a cell by his commanders who locked him in a military prison for being a mutant. Eventually he was approached by a man named Colonel Johnson who said he was being taken to a facility to join a group of mutant assassins.

Eric was turned into a Weapon like the rest. He was given a number, he was given a bomb, and he was given a license to kill. With his new powers he became very, very good at it. After some time he even enjoyed it. But after many years of being Weapon-X’s toy Eric decided he wanted freedom. So he purposely electrocuted himself to destroy the sensors on the bomb. Eric then wrapped his burned skull in bandages and proceeded to shoot and kill his way out of Weapon-X.

Eric then traveled the world as a mercenary. Eventually he came to Africa where he spent a great deal of time, taking advantage of the Blood Diamond trade and the violence of Africa. Soon he became known as a demon across Africa. They also called him the harbinger of death, which Eric fancied and took up the mantle Harbinger. Eventually he created his own ‘church’ in Africa, in reality the church was a cover for what it really was. A training ground for assassins to learn his skills. The group of assassins became the Children of the Corn.

The Children were discovered by some of Eric’s enemies and its base was burned to the ground. Eric left; hearing about some group forming called the Closed Circuit Syndicate. They had caught his interest. He hunted them down and offered to join their group, which they accepted. It seemed they had plans for New York, and Eric would enjoy seeing them played out. While working for the Syndicate Eric and the Children set a trap in Las Vegas. They burned down a casino and beckoned the X-Men to intervene. When the X-Men arrived they shot down the Blackbird and then attacked them. A year after and Eric has left the Syndicate. His small band of mutant assassins known as the Children are all dead. Eric has now aligned himself with Hydra. He works as one of their assassins. They provide him with a list of people to kill. It keeps him happy.

Instead I'm bringing back this psycho. I needed at least one villain. Also I made him weaker since he was close to being OP in the last RP.

Um, so guys? When is the next big Brotherhood meeting? It looks like all Domink's doing is jumping around, recording messages. Is there going to be one of those big gatherings described in the OP soon? Because, Shiro actually has to introduce himself to the Brotherhood proper and convince Domink that he's on his side, and it appears he now has a time limit.

Well, I meant to give anyone who wanted a little time in Italy a chance to post, but seeing as that hasn't quite happened I'll see if I can get him stateside soon.

Hey Mr. House, considering your show seems to be running an pro-Mutie interview session, would they be open for an interview with Horace, after the interview with Yuri concludes. He is after all the spokesperson/figurehead of Hammer Industries, which is a rather big corporation, as well as one of the most well heard pro mutant and human peace activists, while also having been one of the strongest backer of the Enforcers.

Name: Robin Huntian.Age: 122 (looks 17-18)Gender: MaleFaction: NoneAppearance: He has brownish blonde hair and green eyes that get flickers of red in them when he's angry. He looks much more muscular than most vampires, being as he actually has to work out. About 6'2". He has fangs shorter than a vampire's, though they rarely pop out.Weapons: Robin uses a silver edged sword and a large crossbow, as well as two 40 caliber pistols.Updated: Robin now uses the mythical weapon Vasilis, the Sword of Light and Darkness. It appears to be a pure black blade surrounded by glowing blue flames. The blade cuts extremely effectively (not to adamantium's level) and boosts his physical abilities somewhat, as well as being, well... Flaming. It should be noted that he doesn't have much of a boost over his ordinary strength, seeing as its calibrated for humans. In addition, once removed from its sheath the blade becomes addicting, and can kill the wielder through sheer exhaustion if he's not careful.Personality: Robin is a paradox. He's often aloof, but once you get to know him he's friendly and loyal. Most of his jokes are lines used to distract foes, and he barely ever cracks a grin when around unknown people. The only person he trusts at all is Nicole.Powers: Robin's stronger, faster, and more agile than a normal human, but not near as fast or agile as a fullblood. Think halfway between. Robin's strength, however, is about the same due to a strict training regimen. His senses are enhanced.

Robin, unlike normal vampires, can drink blood to boost his powers to an ordinary or above ordinary vampire's level, though this hastens the infection's speed, causing it to eat up the little humanity he has left.Skills: Extremely good with his sword, rarely gets distracted from a mission.Weaknesses: He has to keep his bloodlust under control. Light and fire based attacks do more damage than normal. A mortal wound by human standards will kill him if he fails to treat it, it'll just take longer. All vampiric weaknesses apply, but to a much weaker level. As he gets older the infection will take over more and more, though he's kept it at bay by resisting most of his urges.Bio: Robin's life began quite interestingly. His mother was turned by Jace Pulliam (approved by Tyler) when he was a baby, turning her into a vampire and him into a bizarre cross known as a dhampir. The hotblooded young man took to fighting, first on the Allies' side in World War 1 and again in WWII, each time showing distinction in the service of his country. It also taught the soldier the value of patience, gradually cooling his aggressive temper. He met Nicole in the present day, eventually falling into a trial conducted by an ancient mage and passing with flying colors. Then his world flipped upside down. A year ago, half of him felt like it was ripped away.Jace had died.Robin went into seclusion to regain strength, and is only now returning... Well, there's my dhampir XD

SHIELD profile time.

“Sam”

Name: Gasaammet Outhseren. More commonly known as “Sam”

Gender: Female

Age: 24

Moral Alignment: Neutral Good

Faction: Liaison to SHIELD

Power(S): The use of various magics. All her magical skills, due to splintering her abilities among many, instead of one path, results in her being skilled in a variety of magic, but unable to effectively use any of them for large spells (I.e. Can summon small items such as a second-hand copy of Lord of The Rings, or her handbag, but can’t summon the Magna Carta). She also in untrained in major forms of combat magic. Effectively knows limited healing, limited summoning, limited telepathy, various wards, limited enchanting, and an ameture understanding on the creation of various magical portals.

Appearance: A woman of 24 years old, standing close to six feet in height. Has brown eyes and blonde hair. Commonly wears a more casual suit, which she can exchange for more classical mage robes should the situation calls upon it. She also has a pair of reading glasses.

Primary hand: Ambidextrous in practice, but this is only through training. She prefers the use of her right hand over the left.

Voice: Sound

Tools: Carries a small horde of rings, amulets, and other magical tokens meant to ward off one entity or another. Also has a small big with her so that she can quickly conduct a magical rituals. In addition to this, she carries a small handbook on common magical creatures, translated into english, for quick explanation to various people.

Skills: Tailoring, Blacksmithing, Carving, Puzzle-solving, skilled in many languages, especially dead ones. Has a detailed knowledge on the magical, occult, and things that science doesn’t believe in. Like gravity cat.

Personality: Outgoing amongst friends, or when working. Often awkward when talking one-on-one with strangers, or people she doesn’t know very well. Takes great pride in her work, and hates being interrupted.

Weaknesses: Due to splintering her magical talents, she will never be able to reach mastery levels without giving up a skill, or through currently-unknown implements. Use of her magic (Most notably, more than three large spells per day) burns through her reserves of strength and energy quickly. Untrained in any form of combat, outside of defensive spells.

Bio: Gasaammet Outhseren, commonly known by the more “normal” name of “Sam”, was born into a decently-sized group of magical users in europe. She was raised into a culture that revolves around magic, and became quite skilled in the magical arts. After coming of age, Gasaammet began traveling the world, often stopping at other Magical communities to aid in problems, or teach magic. During a trip to the USA, she was offered to act as a liaison to SHIELD, in replacement for Strange. She took the offer, and has worked as a source of reference for all things magical to SHIELD.

Little-known-facts: English is her twenty-second language. She’s terribly afraid of the dark, to the point where she keeps a night-light in her room.

For a SHIELD agent, if they were an assassin for most of their life, would SHIELD take them as an agent? like at all?

Got a profile here for approval. :3

Name: Cody Jackson

Codename: Zephyr

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Loyalties/Faction: None

Power(s): Cody's mutation has given his cells the ability to photosynthesize, or convert sunlight into energy. This mutation manifests itself in a few ways: enhanced strength, allowing Cody to deal out and withstand more damage than a typical human; enhanced reflexes, which allow him to quickly react to stimuli; an improved healing factor, allowing his cells to repair themselves at a higher speed when bathed in light; and the ability to forgo physical food and sleep for a limited time, as long as he has a source of light to draw energy from.

All his abilities are dependent upon sunlight: without a source of light, his powers will gradually fade, though they will readily reactivate upon his re-exposure to light. His physical appearance is also slightly dependent on the amount of light in an area.

Cody is generally more powerful on a sunny day, but his powers don't disappear when the sun goes behind a cloud (anyone can tell you that light still gets to Earth through the clouds). His body stores energy for use when the sun's light isn't available (at night, for example), but it's not much, and he has to be careful with how much he uses, or risk running out. Artificial light will suffice to keep him somewhat charged, but it's not nearly as strong as natural light, and he can't live off it forever. His powers will gradually wane until he finds sunlight.

Appearance: Cody stands at six feet square, with dark red hair and pale, freckled skin. His physique is partially dependent upon the energy he's absorbed: on a hot summer's day, he could be mistaken for an amateur bodybuilder; at night, his muscles shrink, and he looks more gangly. His green eyes sparkle, and his smile almost never disappears. He's always wearing loose, baggy clothes, in order to hide the fact that his body changes with the seasons and even the weather.

When assuming the identity of Zephyr, Cody wears a black leather jacket over a kevlar vest, green slim jeans, black leather boots, fingerless MMA gloves, and a green balaclava.

Weapons: None.

Skills: Cody used to take Muay Thai, and was fairly average, but his enhanced strength and reflexes have turned him into a formidable fighter. His half-complete training combined with his reliance on his powers allow him to fight in an extremely unorthodox style that takes most opponents by surprise.

Personality: Almost unbearably optimistic and cheerful, Cody likes to look on the bright side of things. He's not naive, but he prefers to focus on the positive and do everything he can to fix the negative. He's determined to the point of being pig-headed, never backing down or giving up. Very much an idealist. Doesn't believe in using lethal force.

Weakness: His powers are completely dependent upon light. If someone were to shut him up in a dark room, his powers would soon run dry. His stubbornness can also prevent him from making logical decisions, and he won't kill unless there's absolutely no other option.

Biography: Born the son of Vince Jackson Jr., Cody grew up surrounded by anti-mutant diatribe. This might have turned him into a man like his father, had it not been for one small detail: Cody himself is a mutant.

His mutation was easier to hide than others. He spent his school years wearing baggy clothes to hide the fact that his body changed depending on the seasons and even the weather, and he was careful to never get in any situations that might accidentally reveal his unnatural strength and speed. But he secretly longed to show the world -especially his father- that he was extraordinary, and that being a mutant wasn't a bad thing.

Upon graduating, Cody moved to New York City to pursue his dream of being a writer. At least, that's the story he told his father. In reality, he works night shifts as a security guard and spends his days fighting crime under the guise of Zephyr, a masked superhero. He hopes to help people see that mutants aren't something to be feared, but, until then, he's not revealing his secret identity.
