"Then I will wait, though it may or may not be for as long as you are inclined to believe," Dravennica said simply. "If the group I belonged to had discovered a hidden vault full of technology, masks, and containing a vat of what's arguably the most powerful substance on the island, I would still make sure that at least one of our members stayed behind to protect it, no matter how many safeguards the place already had."

"Just because you don't see or hear something, that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't there."

IC: Trava (Campground)

"That depends on which one," Trava replied, "different Rahkshi, different powers, different tactics" she said, gesturing with her hands in accordance with the statement. She was sitting crosslegged against a tree, mask taken off again for speaking.

The large figure grinned to himself with a most pleased grin, and his hands strained in the hopes of ripping metal, but a sudden and rather uncomfortable thought popped into his head. "Wait... If it's just a suit of metal..."

There was a small silence, and he rubbed his forehead in agony.

He let out an irritated and slightly distressed sigh.

"You probably think that was a nice party trick I just pulled," He scratched the part of his arm that had been cut, as it was itching him. "Yet never peacefully greet another of my species. Some of them will steal your soul."

"I mean literally."

IC:Arvas

Oh, right, yeah. The important thing.

"Yeah, good plan." Arvas turned back to the group planning the extremely dangerous operation taking place at some point in the near future.

"If anyone else wants to start, go ahead. I've never encountered Rahkshi myself, so I can't comment."

IC: Volin

I sat squatted on a rock, quietly waiting for someone to step up and say a word or two. When no one did, I stood up to get everyone's attention, hoping that I wasn't the only one around with experience.

"I know this doesn't sound reassuring," I started, eyeing everyone seriously. "but if you're not ready to bring your A game, go home. These things are stronger than you, faster than you, and they will kill you. I don't care if you're champion of the crucible or captain of the guard, 'cause the moment you think you're better than them, you're dead. If you're alone or badly hurt, don't even think of taking one. Last time I saw someone do that, they got ripped limb from limb until I could barely recognize what was left, and the Rahkshi who did it made the whole thing look like child's play."

I paused to let that sink in.

"They're as capable with their hands as they are with their staffs, and their powers are all over the board. I'm not an expert, but I think their colours might be an indicator of what type they are. Even so, it's better to play it safe at the beginning for a better grasp of the situation. As for a measure of their strength, a single Rahkshi can be worth up to three well-trained Toa or more, so if we're facing an equal or bigger amount, we run. No questions asked."

IC: Trava (Campground)

Trava stood up after Volin, and gave him a resolute nod.

"Hammerlock and I came out here with nothing else on our mind but that, and we realized something else that's just as important."

The Lesterin huntress projected a strong air of grave determination as she surveyed the people around her, and her next words came with careful, serious intonation.

"Make no mistake, Makuta made these things, to wreck your day, and we all know that that's something he's especially good at, you follow?"

"So this guy," she pointed at Volin, "has me impressed, who else?"

Even I--  or, perhaps, especially I--  can appreciate an eloquent and suitably respectful description of my Master's most lethal servants when I hear it. I clap my hands together a few times, gravely expressing my appreciation.

"Bravo, Volin. A masterful interpretation of the situation. I can add nothing, except I might point out that yes, research suggests that a Rahkshi's coloration is indeed, a direct result of its Kraata's power type."

I shrug. Seems I'm doing that a lot lately, as Volin begins to take charge and I pose no active objection to his doing so.

"Not that it really matters very much, since only a handful of color patterns have been conclusively identified anyhow. Red is some sort of fear effect, green correlates to toxins..."

The Tiokaha crinkled his brow as he glared at the conversers for a 'Rainbow Rahkshi'. And since Volin's name had just been revealed, he would have to remember that as he turned his attention to him.

"What I would give to be mark of Muur right now." He grumbled to himself before he spoke. "I can enhance my own" already impressive, he thought to himself, "strength if necessary during a fight; is there any particular weak points to look for?"

IC:Arvas

Arvas sniffed.

"Remove the head or destroy the brain. Right."

He picked up his broadsword, which had loosely been stuck into the ground when Arvas sat down, and held it for a moment, thinking. Squinting slightly, he activated his Iron powers, transforming it. The blade narrowed and thinned, but became longer, the only marginally able to cut things blade becoming razor sharp. The handle and guard twisted and warped too, becoming longer as the guard curved towards the weapon's tip slightly, the handle reaching almost twice its original length. When he stopped, resting it on his shoulder, it wasn't a broadsword anymore. It was a greatsword.

"Maybe this'll do better."

He grinned maniacally at the blade, the image of it twisting finely crafted metal dancing in his eyes.

"There are some things capable of withstanding this type of method," He leaned back a little as he spoke. "But I assume we can persuade Rahkshi to become susceptible."

Reverting his attention to Peho, he continued. "Do they have an internal fluid transportation system?"

He gritted his teeth and looked down in frustration. "Drat. If I could get a portion of my blood in it, I might be able to shut it down. But without that, it's out of the question." He sighed heavily.

"Aside from the air, where would we most likely find one?"

'If I could get a portion of my blood in it, I might be able to shut it down.' This was not a sentence Arvas was used to hearing. At all. It took him a moment to even register it.

...

Okay, yeah, there we go. Probably.

"We came to Kini-Nui for a reason, so I'm guessing, I dunno, under here?" Arvas shrugged, before stretching his arms.

"Rahkshi have always been more common in Kini-Nui in general, but most of them took refuge in the Mangaia after the invasions." I said, settling back onto my rock. "Suva Kaita's closed, which is why we're camped roughly a kio away from the Suva Nui. It's a shrine from the outside, but I imagine it's just like every other Dark Walk on the inside."

I glanced toward the Ussal cart Toshiko had brought along with her.

"If you don't have a lightstone, I suggest you grab one from the Vortixx; she's got enough to spare, along with with a few other supplies. It's a maze down there from what I'm told, so make sure to take note of every path and turn we take so we don't get lost. It's currently..."

I brought up my wrist to check my watch.

"A quarter past two. We leave in fifteen, and we come back before dark, so let's say...eight o' clock. Better to camp out here than in there, so if we come up empty-handed today, we'll just come back tomorrow morning with more time on our hands."

"Sound like a plan?"

"Uh ... I don't want to sound dumb or anything, mister," Peho said, idly snapping his fingers to produce a tiny, flickering flame in his palm, before extinguishing it. "But maybe you could use slightly smaller words? A year a half isn't quite enough time to pick up all the Matoran vocabulary, yaknow?"

OOC: Echelon and Kohra from Ko-Wahi.

IC (Echelon)

The pale blue light emanating from the flamberge slid along the walls of the Ko-Wahi Dark Walk, as Echelon and Kohra strode towards Mangaia.

Echelon broke the silence of their march.

"Tell me," he said, pausing for a moment to glance surreptitiously at his Vortixx companion's clawed and feathered left arm, "was it your idea to...how shall I put it...donate half of our treasury?"

IC (Kohra):

"Hardly. Easy money in exchange for espionage on our own ranks." she replied unhesitatingly, noting the Toa's glance. "Ranks which have attracted a number of individuals to whom a cause is less important than currency."

Her chin moved forward as she pushed her jaw forward slightly, forming an expression of indifference followed by a quick shrug. "It should buy their loyalty and ensure that they rat out those who's loyalty cannot be bought."

IC (Rhow):

The Skakdi kept up the tension the fight had caused in her body for a little longer, eyes fixed upon the Rahkshi like a predator eyeing its prey. Then, when the creature hit the ground, she relaxed, letting out a series of deep breaths.

Moving forward, she crouched next to the Rahkshi, using her blade to pry open the panels the formed the head of the thing. Reaching inside her clawed hand found the head of the Kraata and she ripped the slug out of its casing and immediately bisected it to make sure it was dead. She tossed the carcass aside into the darkness and turned to Taoki.

"We got one. So what's next in your plan?"

IC (Rhow):

"No plan then, eh?" the Skakdi grumbled. "Typical."

"Alright you lot. Let's drag this carcass back to Ga-Koro. We've got a restaurant to run."

OOC: Rhow and Co. back to Ga-Wahi.

Toshiko- Rahkshi Hunters

IC: "I don't know about you all," I called out from my spot by the supply wagon. "But I always figured it would be simpler if we just bunked up with the local monks."

A beat passed as I looked around the group.

"I'm not the only person who heard about those guys, right?"

"I serve the weak. I serve the helpless. I am their sword and their shield. If you want to strike at them, you must go through me, and I am not so easily moved."

Toshiko- Rahkshi Hunters

IC: "A while ago a group of monks moved into Kini Nui and have been fixing up the place. I don't know how good of a job they've done but they were still there last I heard. Rahkshi never exit the Dark Walks anyway."

I idly fished an apple out of the cart and took a bite.

"Seems to me that they would be pretty happy to provide housing for people looking to hunt Rahkshi."

"I serve the weak. I serve the helpless. I am their sword and their shield. If you want to strike at them, you must go through me, and I am not so easily moved."

"Do we look the part." He gazed longingly at the apple.

"When they hear 'Rahkshi hunters' they may expect top-of-the-line combat professionals, not a couple of bands that happened to meet."

IC:

...

"So, you're saying 'combat professional' can't possibly co-exist with 'vagabond opportunist'? ...'Cause, y'know, I beg to differ."
