IC:

Sinshi was very, very many things. Heartless, though occasionally a convenient concept, was not one of them. As the Dashi all but blubbered, falling on his metaphorical knees to beg forgiveness, she was acutely aware that her own reaction had been stern. Perhaps too close to a Toroshu's treatment of a Dashi for comfort, and certainly not an impression she wished to give the inhabitants of this new island. Wariness did not justify a lack of tact.

"Given the circumstances, I think your actions, while... Overzealous, are forgivable." She began, bowing slightly as a sign of respect. "I am Umbraline Sinshi, as I believe a formal introduction has yet to occur."

IC: (Mura)

Mura yelled as he was pulled towards the new centre of gravity. From what he could see as he sped forwards, the Ga-Matoran was either dead or badly wounded, having been impaled by crystal spikes...

As he rushed forwards, he reached out his arm and attempted to grab onto the side of a hut...but missed. The lily pad platform was buckling under the force, trying to curve up towards the Ga-Matoran...chunks flew off, smashing into her.
He made a grab for the hut again, and managed to grab it as he was pulled outwards horizontally, feet towards the gravity well. He hung on as hard as he could, but he wasn't athletic or strong, and felt his hands slipping...slipping...
If he fell into the centre of gravity, he would most likely not be able to break free and would be crushed by the attracted debris...

He momentarily let go with his other hand, almost being pulled off, but managed to grab further along the hut. He was slowly crawling along the structure horizontally...
If he could make it to the other side of the hut, he could lean against the wall, and might survive until the gravity well wore off. To his dismay, Mura saw some huts around breaking apart, and being pulled towards the Ga-Matoran...this might not work...

IC Girah: Girah sniffled and gave a smile to the two guardsmen. It was as if the sky had opened up, and some deity had lifted him from his wallowing and enlightened him to the fact that his mistake was not irredeemable. Actually, the lifting was coming from the purple one was the one doing the lifting. He filed away telekinetics as something to ask about later. Picking himself up, he regained composure. There was hope for him yet.

Noticing the bow in the guards, he returned it. Quickly noting their first names, he replied with a smile and a still slightly quavering. "P-pleasure to meet you, U-Umbraline and Ageru. I am Girah, a Mat-toran of Magnetism."

IC KOTAK: As Kotak reached the Ga-Koro docks, he saw what all the commotion was about; Strange beings in crystalline armor on an equally strange vessel were currently arriving on the island. Kotak knew most everything there was to know about his Island home, but these beings.... They were new. New meant opportunity. He moved through the crowd, using his shield to gently nudge onlookers aside, until he was closer to the waters edge. He needed to find out whether these people needed work done.

OOC: still open for interaction.

IC: Eleen(Ga-koro)

Skorm did something that Eleen did not prepare for: use his powers of gravity on Hilji. This made every single thing nearby not attached into something fly towards her. Eleen cursed, but was heavy enough to not be pulled into Hilji. She quickly tried to decide on what to do.

She thought that it would be difficult to catch Skorm, who was running away, and shooting him with a bow would prove ineffective because of the gravity well. She ordered her squad to spread out and do their best to catch him, while Eleen herself ran towards Hilji. She could feel the power of the gravity well increasing as she approached the private, but managed to still keep her feet on the platform.

When she was closer, she jumped, slammed into Hilji and wrapped herself around the Matoran, large pieces of debris hitting Eleen instead of her. Once again, she cursed, but managed to endure the pain of many sharp objects hitting her. Hilji was still alive, but unconscious. Eleen thanked Mata Nui for that.

OOC: Going off the assumption Angitu is in the same boat as Treize

IC: Angitu hmm-ed at the talk of a bad first-contact situation.

"It could have been worse." He said dryly, continuing to tap away at his shield.

OOC: Toatapio, I had intended him to just be leaving the scene, but for consistency's sake I'll run with it. Or, more accurately, he will run with it.

IC: Skorm stumbled as a disc came out of the corner of his eye and hit his shadow in front of him. He didn;t have time for this. The Ba-Toa kicked the disc back towards the gravity field. The flare Kalyss had created was falling; his shadow was becoming longer. That was probably how people kept spotting him; he dashed into an alleyway, where the light would not betray him further. He delved into shadows; he would have to take the long way back to the gate.

Casanuva reached out, and grabbed a hold on Mura's leg with magnetism, reeling him back. "What do we do?".

Vakua winced as he covered his ears from the marine's screaming; his headphones were waterlogged, useless at the moment. I don't think reducing the stuff to dust would help.

Kalyss, meanwhile, was torn between her choice of actions: go after Skorm, or help the ga-matoran. She decided to let her brother go, for now. "Casanuva! Get close, you're strong enough to resist! Cy-Toa, get that stuff off her!"

Casanuva nodded, set down Mura a safe distance away, and started slowly approaching Hilji. His Pakari glowed has he stayed low to the ground, resisting the pull.

The times, they are a-changing...

IC (Ayiwah):

The commodore had contemplated stepping into action, but Dakte and Sinshi already had the situation under control and so she just looked the   - Matoran, she reminded herself - up and down, before continuing to watch the approach of the Ryuu to the quay. With Tazera at the helm, the maneuvre was executed flawlessly and about a minute later, the deck erupted into activity, as the Dashi and Saihoko Suihei hurried to toss lines down onto the pier, which a few of the villagers were helpful enough to fasten to the bollards as the Ryuu came to rest alongside the pier.

Looking through the crystal pane onto the bridge, Ayiwah gave Tazera a short, satisfied nod and a quick ideatalk request for her to come back outside, before moving towards the centre of the deck once more, sending out another mental message, this time to the entire crew:

"Attention all hands: The selected initial shore party will disembark shortly to meet with the leaders of this settlement. You are to guard the ship until we return. At eight bells we will switch to standard in-port watch rotations. Until then, as you were."

It was a short command, but it said all that needed to be said right now. Ayiwah could tell the crew, especially her chosen representatives, were excited to finally set foot on Mata Nui. She herself couldn't help but feel the same, perhaps mixed with a little anxiousness. The sooner they spoke to the village's leader, or whoever was next in the chain of command, the sooner she would be able to indulge their wishes and let them begin to mingle and learn more about the island.

These people truly were strange, she thought, even if she did not let her feelings show. It was one thing hearing about beings so alike in physiology and yet so different in culture and abilities and actually seeing them first-hand. Of course, the most impressive thing so far were the displays of elemental control these Toa had, but the Commodore had noticed more: For one, despite it sounding quite weird to her ears, like an accent never heard before, they did share the same language, which was quite amazing considering the distance between the island and the archipelago. Then there was the already obvious liberal attitude towards authority and the much more equal gender ratio and far more diversity in the colour of their skin, though the people of Ga-Koro primarily wore the familiar shades of blue.

But more than that it seemed, that even with the Toa having apparent access to the very powers of nature itself, they did not use them to shape the land to their liking. Rather, they were living off of it, using what it provided to live in harmony with it, judging by the enormous floating lilypads and huts built from leaves and wood - and metal. Yes, there was an enormous amount of metal and iron present, used not only for construction but also for personal weaponry among the populace. It was quite bewildering to see such precious materials, reserved for ceremonial outfits for the highest-ranking officials and nobles, to be used for...well, everything, really. Finally and conversly though, she could not see any crystalline structures during her first visual sweep of the village. But all those unfamiliarities and differences just meant they had more to talk about.

Meanwhile, the ship was properly secured, and the Suihei opened an elongated hatch on the deck, retrieving a gangway from the compartment, which they carried to the starboard side and sliding it down towards the pier where it came to rest at it's proper angle. The upper end of the walkway had two metal protrusions, which slid into corresponding slots in the edge of the deck, keeping it from sliding away. In the meantime, Ayiwah had stepped back over to Herupa Hanako, who's complement of retainers stood at the ready. She kept one hand behind her back while using the other to indicate the gangplank to the Rora's representative.

"Mata Nui awaits, Lady Hanako." she said. "Step ashore whenever you are ready."

OOC: Please don't rush ahead too much, I am gonna bring Leah back to Ga-Koro shortly, it would be nice if the protector of the village got a chance to introduce herself as well.

IC: (Mons Shajs)

The area around the tube-ship seemed clear, so it seemed to Shajs he would have to work to secure the docks, to keep the foreigners safe. He rowed his boat to the pier, and tied it off next to the nearest ladder. It was clear of the foreign vessel, so he saw it fit to climb up. Looking around, the Ga-Toa (With seemingly Matatus)  were preparing to go on to the pier. Behind him, a crowd of Matoran and Toa had their necks craned in unison at them. Being a Corporal, he had a least a degree of authority over the Privates.

He went on over quickly, and directed four of them to disperse the crowd, to sift them away from the area. And with peaceable means. After which, he came back to the pier, near the ramp the Dasaka were going to exit off. He supposed it would be cordial of him to provide escort. He waited to salute.

I occasionally return to BZP for a nostalgic trip back. Hit me up on discord if you need anything.

Vesun stood up slowly. He felt his strength returning faster by the minute. "Well, then. Perhaps we should take a look." He looked outside, and saw the visitors were in a ship of some sort. He looked at Juho. "Do you have a boat?"

"I - I have a fishing boat," came the reply.

"Then let's go. Kirgan?"

IC Theresia

The crowd is stiffling, the foreigner's arrival drawing a massive crowd.

I catch a line that is thrown down to the pier, securing it with a simple sailer's knot before turning my gaze back to the... Ship? I do not know of a proper term for a ship that travels underwater. It is both sharply angular and streamlined. Thick crystal windows showing a slightly distorted view into a few parts of the interior.

A skakdi, grey and slightly shorter than the average toa, with armor flecked with crystal and short, sword-like spines; directs several of the marines present to move the crowd. They clear it, the skakdi taking a place near the end, by the on ramp. He must be an authority of some sort.

The ship's crew stands on it's deck, or at least some of them. All female, they wear armor of crystal, with few pieces of metal. More ornate than practical in appearance. I feel a distinct fuzz at the edge of my consciousness, the kind of muffled sound that quiet voices make through walls.

...but close to it

IC: Mirra and Wisp.

"No!" Mirra suddenly felt her crystals torn from her elemental control and fly towards the Matoran. Pushing her power to its limits, she caused the crystals to disintegrate into dust, so that the matoran didn't get skewered to death.

"Hold on!" Wisp buried his axe in the ground and grabbed Mirra, preventing either of them from being pulled into the gravity well.

The pair clung onto each other and waited for the gravity attack to subside.

IC: Vilda Mako (Chisai Ryu)

I had stepped back inside the sub, and was peeking out through the crystal pans on the villagers outside. In the earlier encounter the Mata Nuians had only underlined precisely how much their society differed from our own. That stunt with the metal legs; impressive, unheard of, even, but still annoying.

But the rest of the inhabitants seemed to all just... stare. I wasn't at all unused to be paid attention to (ehem), but it made me uneasy, Ga-Koro reminded me in so many ways of your run-of-the-mill seedy Saihoko settlement, sans the water lilies and the number of people I only reached to the waist, which... usually weren't the smartest place to escort your nobles through.

I took a deep breath, trying to remind myself that I was retired and had been for a decade, I shouldn't have to worry about the security risks now... but stuff like that, when it's beaten into you since day one, it doesn't forget you, it follows you.

:There's an awful lot of weapons there in the crowd: I nevertheless ideatalked to no one in particular

IC: Wherya (Ga-Koro, Docks)

"Woooooooow"

I stood, arms dangling and stared, nay, glared hungrily at the massive vessel that had docked on the brig and the wondrous occupants that had come up to greet us. A different people, a different world, out there somewhere, just waiting. Ohmigod can you imagine?

It took a moment, while I saw a Matoran and a Toa of Iron make fools of themselves (good thing I wasn't there then, that would totally have been me), and forced myself to stop staring long enough to draw up my notebook again. If this wasn't worth some inspiration, I'd call Mata Nui a fluke and start worshipping Makuta instead.

"You guys see this?" I said out loud to the rest of the crew without looking at them.

"Can you believe it?"

IC: Eleen (Ga-koro)

After a while, the gravity well wore out and weakened. When it was too weak to pull debris, Eleen released her grasp from Hilji, and let her lie down on the platform. She had sustained minor wounds, which would heal with time. Eleen was in worse condition, however: multiple cuts all over the body, several large bruises and possibly a fractured bone. She would need to visit the hospital after this is over.

She looked around, and didn't see her warriors anywhere: they had obeyed her earlier order and chased after Skorm. The three other members of Toa Kalta were still here, and so were the two other Toa. There was also an orange Matoran she hadn't noticed before. "Everybody stay here. I will question you later. But you", she pointed at Kalyss, "Go after Skorm, using your Kakama. He must be brought to justice."

NPC: Eleen's Marines

Two Matoran and two Lesterin immediately obeyed Eleen's command, while she herself would save Hilji. All of them saluted her, and ran after Skorm. He had disappeared into the shadows, but the Marines wielded lightstones, allowing them to see in the dark. They spread out into two groups, one Lesterin and one Matoran in both, and ran through the streets, crossing wooden bridges and passing many houses. The stars above watched them closely and flickered as the first group headed to the gate, and sounded an alarm: no one was allowed to leave. They knew not what mask Skorm wore, and decided to stay at the gate just in case the Ba-Toa had a special mask that would allow him to bypass the gate easily. The second group watched the waters below Ga-koro, wondering if Skorm had swam away. They also wandered the streets, but were unable to find any trace of Skorm. They were unaware of the fact that Skorm wielded a Kanohi Huna, the mask of invisibility. Their search proved ultimately fruitless, and they headed back to Eleen.

IC: Soraya [The Chisai Ryu]

Okay, didn't think he'd actually take that as an invitation.  Points for enthusiasm, at least.

The just-checked-again-nope-not-a-Dashi pretty much fell over himself apologizing to the rest of the crew, and Soraya shook her head.  Yeah, if this guy (and the dozens of others clamoring over their arrival) was any indication, Mata Nui was a lot more high-energy than Kentoku.  Not that that was necessarily a bad thing, in her book.

But hey, saleswomanship basics: with an unfamiliar crowd, make a quick read, play it cool, chin up, don't let yourself get bogged down in the details.  "Name's Soraya," she said, with just a bit of a bow.  "Plangori Soraya.  Nice to meet'cha, Girah."  She could put off thinking about little nitpicks like "Matoran of Magnetism" or the fact they were speaking the same language for the moment.

Mirra woke up slowly, looking around. The gravity well had subsided, it seemed.

"You okay?" Wisp asked, helping her up. "I think something hit you."

"In the head," Mirra agreed, already feeling a lump beginning to form. "Ow..."

"Well, I have good news, better news, bad news and worse news," Wisp said.

"Okay. Tell me, in that order."

"Good news: we're alive. Better news: so is everyone else. Bad news: Skorm got away." a look of anger flashed across his face; he hated leaving things unfinished.

"And the worse news?" Mirra prompted.

"Ah..." Wisp pointed out the injured Marines, "I think they want to arrest all of us."

IC: 88

88 flew like a lightning bolt. Ga-Wahi and Po-Wahi were quite close, so it didn't take long for him to arrive. His Rahkshi-like form landed lightly in the jungle outside Ga-Koro. He flew up into the air to get a better view of the area, and flew closer to where he thought his house had been. After he landed close to the area, he began to search. As he closed in on the old village he lived in, he noticed a large gathering towards the direction of Ga-Koro. In a flash, he took off and flew towards Ga-Koro. 88 nicked the roof of a hut and spun out of control, and crashed into the water. He popped up and just decided to take things slow and swim to shore.

.:The early reports of Mata Nui indicated several villages. Perhaps these villages are not at peace with each other?:. Sinshi commented, eyes panning across the crowd. She saw Dashi, Menti, and even some beings that were neither. A representative or two of the Chaotix Six's species, and even a few that were still far from familiar. The differences in culture... So many more males, all of which seemed to walk about freely. Almost every being in the crowd seemed to be armed to some extent, and their weapons were metal. The only full metal weapon in the Archipelago belonged to the Imperial Executioner.

.:So many different species... And a very different gender balance. Why are the elementally capable ones not in command of these Marines? Wouldn't that make more sense than Dashi and one of the Chaotics?:.

During my decade touring the archipelago, I'd spent quite a bit of time among the so-called "refuse of the empire" and even learned a few useful tricks about living off the land from them. The Tajaars were unfairly dismissed as scavengers and looters when in truth there was a lot more to them, the same could apply here.

IC Girah: Noticing the being of similar stature's greeting as well a noting the guards' strange, focused silence. Girah slowly wandered across the deck to Soraya to ask some questions. He was a bit more reserved in his steps, lacking the enthusiastic bounce he arrived with, but still having a bit of the excited tautness in his motion. He returned the bow and continued. "The pleasure is mine."

Girah eyed the taller newcomers with unease. "I must say, your people seem strange to me. Your Toa are often quiet. It is a bit unnerving to not hear them banter and strategize and boast. It seems like they just.... Look fiercely off into space in utter silence and give orders verbally. It is odd to see them in command, rather than service." He shivered slightly.

IC: Kalyss nodded, then sped off towards the gates. She doubted Skorm would risk swimming in his weakened state, and there was only one way in or out of the Koro. Once Kalyss reached the gate, she called out to close it, on order of Eleen. Charging her elemental power, she lit up the area with several neon flares. They would know if he passed through here.

Skorm, meanwhile, slowed to a halt when he reached the gate, lingering in one of the few shadows remaining. Evading the few marines searching for him had been an easy task, but this might be more difficult. The entire area was coated in dim light, but it was enough to spot his shadow, and on top of all the marines, Kalyss herself was patrolling. He didn't have much elemental energy left, maybe enough for one more trick.

Kalyss continued pacing. She heard some shouting. She turned, and saw the shadow reaching the wall. She needed to capture Skorm alive. Activating her mask, she dashed towards the wall, charging a blast of ultracold plasma.

Skorm, when he reached the wall, dodging discs, crossbows, and other projectiles, altered his gravitational field so that he could run up the wall. Kalyss's blast of plasma splashed against his feet, and they were coated in a thin layer of frost. He rolled, twisting out of the crackling ice, and scrambled up the rest of the wall. When he crested the top, he leaped off, altering his gravitational field to dissipate the fall when he landed; he did so quietly. Skorm again dashed to the edge of the jungle. He could easily lose any pursuit in there. Looking back, he reflected upon his failure. If his goal was to be accomplished, he would need... help.

Kalyss sped around the gate to the other side, but Skorm was already gone. Her armor sparked with fury, melting the sand beneath her feet into glass. She could follow him, concievably, but it would require her to search the jungle for hours to gain a single clue. Making her way back to Eleen, she pondered what her failure could mean, and how Skorm could betray his own team like that. As she sped by the bay, she noticed something. She slowed down, and realized with horror it was a matoran's body. Matched the markings of a Marine; she had seen plenty of them tonight. Picking up the body, she returned to the gate. Upon reaching Eleen again, she told her of the news.

"I doubt that a Ga-Matoran drowns easily. I think Skorm did this. In infiltration training, he used a technique where he weighed someone down in a body of water to drown them. I doubt his is a coincidence."

Casanuva and Vakua lingered. "So, uh, what now?" he asked Eleen. "Debriefing? Rest? I'd like rest."
