IC: (Valria)The frail Toa of Gravity was in the middle of a sit-up when she had heard the traveler. Startled she feel backwards and laid there for a few minutes, thinking about what to say as she got up. She dusted herself off as she struggled to get up from the ground and stretch. Her armor was frail, to be honest it was very weak armor and didn't cover as much of her body as armor should have. Then again her outer armor had seen a lot."I don't know why I'm here. I needed some place to think. Ko-Wahi was also too cold for me, this armor, it does not cover much." She sighed, though saying that last bit jokingly. She was also kind of embarrassed, one by the state of her armor, and two, how little it actually cover. It didn't fit her properly and she grabbed her cloak before walking over towards the matoran."My name is Valria...traveler. What's yours?" She asked, holding out a hand to shake as she leaned down, her face was caked in dust, dirt, and sweat, in fact her entire body seemed to be caked with the grime. The only other dirtier place she could think of was Po-Koro, though it was little more sandy there than anything else.

IC: LondarLondar woke up and got up with a groan. He had a pounding headache. He had no idea how he got here; something about downing a whole jug of beer and fighting with a ta-matoran, but he couldn't be sure if any of those things ever happened. He got up and started walking in a random direction

OOC: Hope you don't mind, The Mask, Visaru, but your characters were sorta conviently placed. :3IC: OnuzekEverything seemed to be fine, untill a loud crash echoed above Valria and Dorgath, followed by a recently learned curse. There was another sound: branches snapping, before a moment of silence.Untill a massive meteor of Toa, muscle, and armor came to a sudden stop on the ground next to the two beings. "Ow..." Was all Onuzek managed to say at the moment, having fallen from quite a height. That was the thing with the element of Gravity, it couldn't be replenished like others, so once you ran out, you ran out. Onuzek recently learned this the hard way, having been flying to Ta-Koro via his element. That, and he currently didn't have a Kanohi, so his already weak control over his element was almost gone.

IC: KironAfter walking around the Koro for a few days and catching up on news he had missed in his past few months of unconsciousness, Kiron had found out two important things. One, Makuta and his minions had caused plenty of deaths and destruction across this island(not much change there). Two, a certain Island Liberation Squad had been formed to liberate the island of Mata-Nui of Makuta's power and rule. It had sounded almost too good to be true.Well, of course it is, Kiron thought. It was said that the the leader had founded the group for glory and personal power. Still, its goals were good, and Kiron's interest was piqued. Kiron packed his pack with a bunch of Bula Berries, some anti-rust ointment he had bought for a couple of widgets, a Freeze Kanola disk, power level 3,a Reconstitutes at Random disk, power level 5, and a few pieces of Nui-Jaga meat. He also rummaged around to get enough widgets(64 in all), and he brought along two flasks of water. He set off for Le-Wahi.OOC: Kiron to Le-Wahi.

OOC: I don't mind.IC: (Valria)Valria nearly jumped three feet vertically when the massive Toa of Gravity crashed right next to this matoran and her. She frowned and placed her hand on the Toa, he seemed to share roughly the same color scheme as her, except his color scheme was reversed."Umm...are you alright?" Valria asked softly, it was obvious that he wasn't and she noticed that his face was missing a mask. All Toa knew what happened if you were without your mask for too long and it gave her the shivers. She knelt down, face and body still caked in sweat from her workout, the one she hadn't even finished and was barely able to get through in the first place. Her dark green eyes were awash with worry. He needed to get to a village and probably a mask maker. Then they could get him some medical attention beyond that if he needed it. She waited for the larger Toa of Gravity's response, hoping that she would her one.

ICThe Ta-matoran shook Valria's hand, a bit awkwardly. It wasn't often a pretty toa was so close to him. "I'm Dorgath. A... a lava farm-"That's when Onuzek fell from the sky.Dorgath's leaped backwards, pulling out his bamboo spear as he did so. The Matoran's heart light began to race, frightened by what sort of beast this was that was so large and such a good flier. But when the debris cloud around the fallen body cleared, it became obvious that this was no monster.Well, not a Rahi, at least. The huge, black and purple thing that lay on the ground, moaning, was a Toa. Dorgath sheathed his weapon and tentatively walked closer, hoping this new arrival wasn't injured too badly. He stood a Bio or two away from the toa, awkwardly standing there and hoping the answer to Valria's question was 'yes'.

IC: Reordin (Lava Bed, Ta-Wahi)Reordin had taken a couple seconds to examine the stone when Sulov handed it to him; it wasn't anything major, no real prize of artwork or sculpting. It was just onyx, black as midnight, and no bigger than any other of the thousands of rocks strewn bleakly across the desolate Ta-Wahi landscape, but as the Ko-Matoran held it, he realized that, despite his first impressions, it was...powerful. The stone radiated a small aura to it, one that warmed Reordin to his core; back in his days as a lieutenant in Ko-Koro, when the blizzards kept them barricaded inside the guard housing, they would make hot chocolate to keep warm and then play poker to pass the time, their heartlights the only source of illumination available to them. It was that same warm, comfortable feeling; Reordin almost regretted letting it go as he passed it to Stannis."Looks like it'd be harder to keep track of than most other items of its nature," he noted. "I always pictured regular Toa Stones as more...special looking."-Teezy

OOC: As per Nuju's orders, one bloody attack coming right up. :evilgrin:IC:There was a sudden commotion among the citizenry of Ta-Koro. It started as a mere murmur running through the crowd, passed on from one Matoran to the next. Elbows were poked into ribs to make heads turn, attracting more attention. Eventually the murmur became a low talking; questions were asked and left unanswered. At first.“Hey, look!”“Did you see that?”“What’s going on?”“What’s this about?”“Should we do something?”More and more of them raised their voices; and the more they asked, the louder they grew. And the louder they grew, the more attention the gathered crowd attracted, adding more voices to their number. At first they merely repeated their inquiries, but as soon as enough people had gathered, the tone changed, from bewilderment to calling for action. All it took was one with the courage to step forward. And considering the Ta-Koronans temper, there were many who fit that role. All the crowd needed was that first incentive to demand a stop to the interruption of their ordinary day.A smile tugged at Kohra’s mouth. Jilsud and Vinathli had done fine work. They had not met up with her beforehand, so she did not know what they were doing exactly. But she had seen the growing number of Matoran gathered near the bridge. Enough to warrant for a closer look by the patrolling Ta-Koro guardsmen. They dutifully pushed their way into the crowd, trying to get to the bottom of what had caused this impromptu gathering. And as they left their regular route of patrol and focused on the Matoran, the way was left open for the Vortixx to move in. And all of this had taken less than five minutes. The two had done some very fine work indeed.Quietly, Kohra stepped out of the shadow of the building she had been behind, moving towards the Matoran as well. The crowd by now was so large that it blocked the street, preventing the people still moving around the village from going about their business; adding a group of disgruntled merchants who tried to move their wares around to the people the guard had to deal with.Kohra saw the spears of the few patrolmen present at this normally quiet place within the village. They would need reinforcements to get a hold of this situation soon, so she needed to act quickly. As their attention was focused elsewhere, the Matoran hardly payed any attention to the Vortixx moving past them, blending in with the crowd easily as she walked, until she came to the bridge leading toward the small opening in the side of Mt. Mangai. The Vortixx crossed the narrow bridge, unseen by the distracted guard, and stepped into the guard-post operating the cable-car. Just as her observation had revealed, there was always one guard on station here, to operate the cable-car and prevent any unauthorized access. That Matoran was sitting on a crate outside of the small hut that provided shelter and a restroom for the guardsmen. And he was looking right at Kohra as she stepped onto the ledge the whole post was built on. He had watched the area behind the bridge closely, trying to see just what in Mata Nui’s name was going on on the other side from where he sat, so she had been plainly in his field of view.Originially the plan had entailed that she would try to slip by the guards during a change of shift, when no Matoran were present at the post at all, but then she would have nobody to use as her “message”. And she could not just leave Ta-Koro without leaving one of those behind, especially since she had already prepared another piece of parchment just for that purpose. The Matoran stood up, taking a few steps in her direction. Kohra could see that he was trying to get a closer look at her features underneath her hood. She smiled pleasantly.“Can I help you?” the Matoran asked, his eyes quickly moving between her and the crowd on the far side of the bridge behind her.“Yes, I was hoping to get a ride on the cable-car.” She stated, as if a normal customer.“I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a few minutes in that case.” was the reply. He sounded honest; and bored. Doing nothing all day but to stare out into a sea of fog over a lava-lake had that effect.“Oh?”, Kohra said, pretending to be disappointed. “But I see you have a second car ready to go. Could I not use that?”The Matoran glanced over his shoulder, at the second car, sitting in its starting position.“Well, you see, it’s like this: We got one car going either up to Ko-Wahi or coming down here, while the other is kept in the station, in case something goes wrong. If the gearbox of the winch fails, we need the second car to go up and get the passengers. It’s for emergencies only.”“Ah, I see…” Kohra said, walking over to the edge of the small plateau, looking down the side of the Volcano, just a few feet away from the Matoran now.“I guess I will just have to wait a while then.”The Matoran nodded. “I guess so. But, since you’re here and waiting: Do you know what that crowd over there is about? Know anything about that?”Kohra nodded slowly, turning toward the guardsman as she did. “Indeed I do.”“So?” the Matoran asked. Kohra took another step towards him, raising her right arm from under her cloak, pointing toward the crowd. The Matoran followed the direction her finger indicated with his eyes, drawing them away from Kohra’s left hand, which she began to pull back, ready to strike. The Vortixx smiled devilishly. “You could call it…an emergency.” She stated. The Matoran looked back at her face. For a moment, their eyes locked. She could see the question in his look, the unspoken confusion, while he saw nothing but her cold, determined stare.“What…?” he started to ask, but he never got to finish his question. Suddenly, he felt something cold and sharp stinging in his chest. His eyes widened in bewilderment at this new, unfamiliar sensation. He looked down at his own torso; and noticed the Vortixx’ hand. It was buried halfway in his upper torso, her clawed fingers piercing through his armor easily. Then the pain caught up with what he was seeing. It was so intense, he couldn’t think straight anymore. He wanted to scream, scream so badly, but found it impossible. Kohra had pushed her other hand over his mouth, her vice-like grip preventing his lips from parting. For one second, his eyes found hers again. They were still cold and motionless. Then Kohra began to turn her hand and white stars exploded in the guardsman’s field of view, blurring out everything else.Ribs broke as she mercilessly twisted further, before finally closing her fingers. And then, suddenly, the coldness was gone from his chest. His eyes managed to focus one more time, to see the Vortixx was holding something in her hand.Heart…? Was the last thought to cross his mind, before his vision faded to black.Kohra wasted no time. As soon as the guard’s eyes rolled back, she caught the falling body, quickly pulling it out of view and into the hut.She placed the dead Matoran on the small table in the room unceremoniously and went to work, her clawed hand slashing the body until she finally carved the crossed out symbol of the three virtues deeply into the side of the Matoran’s chest that did not have a hole in it.When she was done, she wiped her hands on the table-cloth. She pulled out the piece of parchment she had prepared in advance while on stake-out; and placed it in the Matorans hand, pushing his fingers into a closed fist around it, before wrapping the corpse into the tablecloth. It was not the elegant method she would have preferred to prepare her “message”, but it would have to do, since she was not done yet and short on time. The Vortixx stepped out of the hut again. She had only been here for a few minutes; and the guards on the far side of the bridge had not yet taken control of the crowd still gathered, although she could see more of them present there now, having called in reinforcements. She quickly stepped over to the motors that moved the cable-cars up and down the mountain. While she had observed the outpost the night before, the Vortixx had wondered just how the mostly low-tech Matoran had managed to build a mechanisms strong enough to move the car across such a distance. And being a Vortixx, she had wondered how this motor worked. As she had discovered, the answer was simple, compared to the tech she knew: The Matoran simply used what they had available to them and made the most use out of it. And what the Ta-Matoran had in abundance, was fire, heat and magma. A continuous stream of lava was swelling up from the depths of Mangai, only to force its way down to the sea.And just like the Ga-Matoran used the streams of water, the Ta-Matoran used the fiery river to power their mechanisms; either to heat water to create pressured steam, or using the flow directly, or both, in the case of the cablecar. The mechanism was powered by what was essentially a water-wheel made of protodermis to stand the heat and submerged in the magma below the small plateau through a shaft drilled into the volcanic rock. That in turn, was attached to a basic gearbox, using the energy to move the cablecar with one cable, while steam was used to put pressure into pneumatic pistons to keep the main-cable the cars ran on taught. Rather ingenious, as she found, at least for Mata-Nui worshipping low-lives.And Kohra knew just how to use this motor to achieve her goal. Using the tools she had bought in the market, she removed the cover of the gearbox on the left side, moving the car en route down towards the village. It was easy to spot the right parts to manipulate. A physical obstruction was all that was needed. Kohra pulled out the carving-chisel she had purchased. It was made to work on hard rock; and would not break easily. Without much hesitation, she rammed the chisel into the right spot, blocking the gears. There was a metallic shrieking noise, making the strain the sudden stop put on the whole mechanism audible. Now, all she needed to do, was to let the pressure build up. Magma was one of the things that was rather hard to stop. Like water, the molten rock would find the way of the least resistance. And if it couldn’t pass by the halted submerged wheel to power the gearbox anymore, it would simply rise into the shaft leading upwards. And it would not take long. It was time to leave. With a satisfied smile, Kohra pulled the lever on the second motor. The empty cablecar started to move out of the station, but Kohra quickly jumped into it as it cleared the ledge and moved out over the chasm below. She picked up speed and soon was well away from the guard-post. There was something surreal about passing the giant ravine that separated the Ko-Wahi territory from Ta-Wahi, the fire-lake forming a natural border between the two. Fog and smoke covered the, their clouds illuminated by the lava below, giving the passengers of the cablecar a unique view, as if suddenly travelling on another world entirely.Out of the fog ahead, the silhouette of the cable-car that had been stopped appeares. An evil smile crept onto Kohra’s face once more, as she saw the frightened faces of the Ko-Matoran passengers waiting.----------------------------------------------Down by the outpost, the guards had finally dispersed the crow of Matoran. It was back to the usual business and the tired guards, relieved that this episode was over, went back to their posts, crossing the bridge again. They called to their companion, but there was no answer.“You think he took a nap?” one of them asked. The officer leading the group looked at him with raised eyebrows. “I highly doubt it, but check the hut if you think so.”The Matoran nodded and walked over to the small builing. It took only a few seconds before he cried out. “Sarge!”His companions came running. As they looked into the hut, they had to fight back a sudden nausea at the sight. There was blood everywhere inside. The Sergeant was the first to regain enough of his composure to notice something else. “Where’s the body?” he asked.“What do you mean?”“Look at this place!” he snapped. “A mess, so much blood but no footprints of a walking wounded or traces of where it was dragged. Where. Is. The. Body!?”The Matoran quickly made their way back outside. But before they could search for their missing friend, something else caught their attention. A noise.“Wait, do you hear that?”The group fell quiet, listening closely. Now they all heard it. A metallic scraping, as if gears under strain were trying to move one another…Their eyes fell on the gearbox. “It’s coming from there!”Not wasting any time, one of them quickly ran towards the Motor. He saw the removed panel, saw the smoke rising from somewhere below in the mechanism.“The motor’s jammed!” he said. “This doesn’t look good!”The others came looking as well, but despite being taught how the mechanism worked as part of their job, the Matoran could not remove the chisel. “We need to get this out quick, or there won’t be much left of this station.” The Sergeant stated. He pointed at the third man in his unit. “You. Fetch one of the tech-guys; and make it quick!”“Yessir!” the guardsman said and ran of, while the one in front of the open cover reached inside the gearbox, to try and see what might be the cause. He yelped and pulled back his fingers. “The metal’s scorching hot!”“What are we going to do!?” his colleague asked, desperation clearly in his voice. He didn’t get an answer. Distant screams suddenly echoed in the valley. At first, they looked back towards the bridge, to see if another commotion had started, but then one of them turned his head in the opposite direction.“The car!” he shouted. The others turned to see what he meant and their eyes widened as well, as they saw the fully manned car racing towards them, the cable cut, its remains dangling loosely from behind it. There was no way they could stop it, not at that speed. The Sergeant was about to admit the inevitable truth to him, that the Ko-Matoran were racing towards their doom and the least he could hope was to get his men out of the way, when his racing thoughts were violently interrupted, as the whole plateau exploded. The shockwave echoed through the ravine loudly, and could be heard all throughout the village and even beyond, so violent was the eruption of the pent-up magma. The Matoran nearest to the motor was hit in the head by one of the gears suddenly sent flying at incredible speed, shattering his mask and breaking his skull. But it spared him the pain the Sergeant and his colleagues suffered as the magma that had built up inside blew up the outpost. It exploded out of the opening, splashing the guardsmen and burning them alive. The explosion blasted the cablecar backward before it could crash into the outpost, but that did not save them; the passengers sent falling into the fire-lake below.----------------------------------------Back in the still-working cablecar, Kohra heard the explosion and felt the sudden shudder. She had slashed the other cars pulling-cable while passing by, sending them to a speedy death, but even she had not anticipated the perfect timing of their arrival and the explosion. But it was time to make her escape. She had continued to move up towards Ko-Wahi and by now was almost there. She was able to see the mountain-station in the distance already. Quickly, Kohra climbed towards the reels the cable-car ran along the cable on, before slashing the other cable, stopping the car. It began to slide back, just like the manned one had a few seconds before. Throwing herself forward, Kohra grabbed onto the cable, pulling herself up and wrapping one of her legs around it for stability. Just then, as the Ta-Koro station collapsed in on itself, the cable tore free. The Vortixx held on tightly as she began to fall. But she did not fall far. A moment later, Kohra dropped into the deep snow perpetually covering the mountain’s side this high up. She lay still for a moment, before struggling to get back on her feet. She was waist-deep in the snow that had absorbed her impact. The way down would not be fun. But she smiled. Another message had been sent; and the sowing of mistrust would continue.-----------------------------------------When the worst was over, the guards that had immediately come running to the scene of the disaster had frozen in place as they saw what had become of the outpost. Between cooling remains of lava, they saw the charred remains of what had been friends and colleagues. Except for one. His body had been hurled away and had not been burned badly, despite his other, horrific injuries. And clutched tightly in his hand, they found a piece of parchment, with Matoran letters written on it:Your own people rise against you.Nowhere is safe.Po-Koro was merely the beginning.Ta-Wahi is not the end.Join the shadow or be consumed by it.OOC: TL;DR Version: Kohra blew up the cablecar. No more riding to Ko-Koro in comfort. Oh and there's a dozen Matoran dead. Enjoy ^^

OOC: I'm gonna assume that Londar's still in the same area as DorgathIC: LondarLondar walked through the charred forest, head pounding. Then he came across a ta-matoran that looked awfully familiar (but from where, he couldn 't quite place it) a toa, and... Some big thing. "ZOMFMN," he muttered to himself.

IC: Lepidran exhaled as he let out the breath he'd been holding. When uncovering the, uh, item, he'd been expecting it to immediately transform whoever held it. When Takua had singled out Oreius he'd been anticipating a sudden burst of light or clap of thunder and for the reborn form of Tahu to suddenly be standing in front of them. While he was slightly disappointed, since a powerful Toa on their side would be a massive help, he understood that having a powerful Toa on their side would not help with the stealth. Especially one that happened to be Tahu

IC: OnuzekThe hulking Ba-Toa looked from Valria to Dorgath and back again. If he was injured, moving him to a healer might be a problem. Suddunly, an equally huge grin broke over his face, and the massive Toa said happily, "Onuzek is fine. Not first time Onuzek has fallen from sky. Although, Onuzek can't find a Kanohi... And Onuzek is wondering why he fell from sky..."Around this point the gigantic Toa started looking confused, an expression of worry showing as his abstract mind tried to processed these events. "But Onuzek is okay!" he added, the grin returning, "He has fallen from sky. Again."

IC:As the Matoran shouldered his satchel and started to walk back the way the group had come, a scratching noise from behind him, the rasp of metal slipping over stone, made him freeze instantly. It happened again from the same place, and the Matoran pivoted in time to see a spiny being. The creature was sliding upright down the side of the canyon, almost entirely silently, crouched with its feet angled against the steep slope. The thing pushed off the wall with powerful legs as it neared the bottom, then spun in midair and landed spider-like in the middle of the path, straddling the thin flow of lava and long staff raised over its head. It hissed softly. As though this hiss was a signal, another two beings emerged from above the lip of the canyon, their sharp hunched figures casting imposing shades. The fourth must have moved in when the company was watching the first three; it seemed to appear from nowhere, blocking the other end of the canyon behind them. As the company gradually assumed an outward-facing ring shape, two more of the spiny creatures came. One leapt down from the side of the canyon, landing with a thud on all fours before standing; the last one jogged up to stand behind the fourth. The Wanderer's Company was surrounded on all sides by six of these frightening creatures. Staffs bared, the enemies prowled closer, luminescent red eyes trained and harsh voices hissing in tandem. One of the Rahkshi, a brown one, gestured to its fellows with its staff, indicating one Matoran in particular. This Matoran, hand shaking slightly, slowly took out a few disks from his satchel and then dropped the thing down. "Begone, slime of Makuta," he said in a voice that did not betray his fear. "Or feel us bite."

IC: Reordin (Lavabed, Ta-Wahi)It had been several weeks since Reordin had first seen a Rahkshi, back at the Hive Assault. Memories flashed through his head, memories of Trakuda, falling to the ground, chest flayed and eyes dimming like lightstones that had run out of fuel, memories of flying above one of the creatures and blowing off its hand, giving Madrihk time to annihilate one, memories of the shriek they gave that pierced the heavens and the eyes that threatened to shred your soul like paper from the inside out with naught but a glare...The first time Reordin had seen a Rahkshi, he'd been quietly fearful, but had gone into battle anyway. This time, he wasn't afraid, but more apprehensive. One thought clung to his head, in the forefront: Protect Takua; his second thought was buried deeper underneath, still a priority, but much less of one: Protect the others. He knew that he could count on Sulov, who had also squared off against the sons of Makuta in Le-Wahi alongside him, to keep his wits, but the others were X-factors. And then there was Takua. And then there was the stone. Too many variables for Reordin's taste, and what's more, they had one and one-sevenths of a Matoran to fight off six Rahkshi whose powers were as of yet unclear.Reordin drew his daggers and cursed, shifting his string bag with his disks on his back; they were stuck.-Teezy

IC, Aurax: Aurax's eyes darted around at the Rahkshi. He had heard stories about these creatures- tall, spiny, always hissing... Aurax had never dealt with something like this before. He had dealt with other people, but not Rahkshi. This would be a challenge- there were six Rahkshi, with powers unknown, fighting against seven Matoran who were much smaller. Aurax drew his sword and his shield, readying himself for an attack.

OOCYeah, they are, but unless that battle starts adding explosions or something else equally loud, our characters likely won't notice them. :(ICDorgath smiled as Onuzek told everyone he was okay. Obviously, his intelligence was as small as his body was large. "That is good," Dorgath said, glancing at Londar out of the corner of his eye. The matoran trader seemed not to recognize him, so Dorgath didn't see why he should push his luck by reminding the trader that they knew each other. "We should get you back to the Koro, and get you a mask." Dorgath addressed Onuzek. "How... how did you lose it? And, more importantly, can you remember how you got-" Dorgath pointed skywards, "-up there?"

OOC: I wouldn't do it if I were any of you, Nuju and Friends have a habit of butchering those who intrude on things that do not concern them.IC: (Valria)"He's right, Onuzek, we should get you to Ta-Koro and find you a mask maker." The already weakened Toa of Gravity had an idea pop into her head and her eyes lit up. "I'm sorry Onuzek, my name is Valria. I'm a Toa of Gravity, though you could probably tell that by my color scheme. Umm...would you like to use my mask until we get you to Ta-Koro?" Valria offered, hopefully Onuzek would appreciate the gesture even if he rejected her kindness and charity. She put her hand to her rather feminine Huna, the Mask of Concealment. Strong and resilient he might be, she worried for the big lug, too long without a mask and a Toa would probably die like matoran did, which was in a coma. So far she hadn't seen any of that, and she was hoping that wouldn't come to pass.

IC: Dung. Dung, dung, dung. Rahkshi. Negotiation-out of question. Fight, or flight? Surrounded. Fight.Number-six. Strong, fast, tough. Power unknown. Flight. Staff. Threat level: Maximum.First I draw the Telerahkstaff . The movement is lengthy and precise, hand slowly wrapping around its handle and taking it from my coat. There might be an intimidation factor on bringing their own weapon up against them, and I need something to make sure they can't get close. The polearm is best for buying time. So I stick its bottom end in the ground by my side. Tearing the sheath from my prosthetic, both shovels and my sole polearm are readied. And a rotation of my body and lifting of arms gives me an aggressive stance for combat. I have set three blades for combat at their different ranges. It's a nice setup. It's also weak. Any rahkshi can spot that this sort of aggressive stance with different modes of attack can't do much against something with its own number of aggressive advantages and modes. Punching, jabbing, or throwing this stuff can only buy time. Using the weapons out now, I'm likely to die. That's okay. I'm not trying to.When I drew the polearm, my fingers also opened the holster of the loaded pistol beneath the coat. I haven't told anyone about the weapon and the coat prevents it from being seen. My stance allows for a quick draw and a wide range of vision, with max evasion in quick retreats and my body making a smaller target. It looks like I'm ready to charge in when this setup is all about maxing range.I'm physically powerful and look it, so it's believable that I'd be first in for melee. But the rahkshi are at least as powerful as toa and have a unique ability each that's currently unknown, making melee poor right now. My best bet is to use the greatest tool in my arsenal. And that tool is the pistol. Firearms are rarer than protosteel and have the surprise factor when used by islanders. Their projectiles' speed is faster than a Kakama'd toa. Looking at the rahkshi gives me a good idea of where I can hope to deal max damage with a shot and a pre-aim. My draw is lightning quick and without any sort of hint as to what I'm taking out. All these advantages on the rahkshi, plus those I got from the stance, might give me an edge. I'll try to get that edge at the first opportunity.I settle into my stance and breathe, letting the battle rush flood my veins and my mind shut out all distractions. And I wait.

OOC: Assuming timeskip...IC: Auron:The Toa of Fire had spent the night in a mediative state, or sleeping. Often switching between the two of them. When he heard the explosion, he immeadiatly grabbed his sword and poked his head out the window.Oh, nothing important. Just half the mountain blowing up. He thought. He grabbed all of their things, exited their room, and knocked on Aelynn's door. If she hadn't been woken up by the explosion, he hoped his knocking would."C'mon! We need to go check something out before we leave!"

IC: Lepidran began backing away, sidling behind the others. To some it might be seen as cowardice, the simple act of running from an enemy. And in all honestly, there probably was a little fear in there. After all there were six Rahkshi surrounding them. Six. Any one of them were more than a match for most Toa and there were six of them. But in Lepidran's mind, this was pragmatism. He did not have the training or skill of Oreius, Stannis or maybe even Takua. If he tried to rush into the fight he'd just be in the way, get himself and others killed. What was he going to do, rap a Rahkshi on the head with his net and hope that yelling "Back foul creature!" would terrify it into surrendering? Like that would ever happen. No, he couldn't beat the Rahkshi with his brawn, so he'd have to use his brain. Lets see, he thought as he searched through his mental encyclopaedia, what do I know about the lava flows...

IC:The power of an explosion could be heard from Miraul's position in the Ta-Koro streets. He nodded to Divan, and tables were left behind as Miraul picked up Hikari, and Divan sped to the source of the sound alongside Miraul. As they neared the remnants of the damaged cable-car, they found Vilak and the rest of the team waiting. Weapons were drawn as they scanned their surroundings. Miraul asked Vilak,"What happened here?""I'd really like to know. The cable car wound up down there! Come on!" Vilak gestured. Before Miraul could say anything, Vilak's Volo Lutu launcher was clipped to the edge of the Tren Krom break, and he was riding down fast as he could.Miraul took the cue, and gestured for Divan to follow the Toa of Plasma. He turned to Takamaz and said, "See if you can figure out what happened here. Bijackal, check for potential sabotage. Axana, Hikari, guard them and work with the Ta-Koro guard."Miraul then ran over to the edge, fastening his own Volo Lutu to the edge, and letting the grappling cable slide out. He, too, began the descent down the cliff. OOC:VF, any chance that some Ko-Matoran might have survived landing in the lava? If they survive the force of the landing, they might have some time before the cart sinks, especially since I think magma is of higher viscosity than water. Miraul and his magnetism can work with that.IC: Though worried about the Matoran in the lava, Takamaz began to analyze the destruction. One body had clearly been murdered-he left that to Bijackal, as his tracking vision could provide better clues. The rest of the deaths seemed to have been caught in the magma explosion. Takamaz walked carefully, working his way past the cooling magma to take a look at the motor, pausing to explain that he was an engineer and wished to determine the cause of the explosion. The machine was badly damaged, by the looks of it. A gear was missing-further examination revealed that it had gone flying and beaned an unlucky Matoran in the head-perhaps the only other death not caused by the magma. The only thing Takamaz suspected that had the potential to cause that much damage was a gear jam. By the looks of a machine like this, and the damage caused, it looked as though this machine must be powered by a magmawheel-something like a waterwheel that might have been used in a mill. Clever design, one Takamaz figured he would have to remember. If the gears had been jammed as suspected, then that could have forced a magma backup that could cause some of the damage seen here. OOC:First time Takamaz has ever had the chance to use his skills as an engineer. Even if he is working backwards.

IC:The Matoran watched the Rahkshi gradually close their circle. The Wanderer's Company prepared for battle; some unsheathed blades, some cowered. The Chronicler Matoran readied his first disk, tapped its edge as he held it, awaiting the inevitable tensely. He shifted his weight, being sure not to stand on the satchel he'd set down earlier. The sons of Makuta leveled their gazes at the group of Matoran, fixating on the one they'd been sent to kill, though also noticing the weapons being drawn by the others in the tightening circle. The Brown Rahkshi made the first move. Then chaos broke out.It leapt forward, staff raised over its head, with the intent of slicing cleanly through its assigned target. But a bullet from Sulov's pistol, drawn and directed as soon as the Onu-Matoran had sensed movement and flung away his melee tool to draw his gun, caught the midair Rahkshi by surprise. Sulov, who fired as fast as he could, had been aiming for the Rahkshi's head, but the creature's speed and Sulov's imperfect aim led the bullet instead to hit the creature on the underside of its neck. This, it turned out, was just as effective; the air cracked, and the next instant, the Rahkshi fell limply back to earth, landing directly where Lepidran had just been standing. The Le-Matoran skipped out of the way before he could be crushed under the thing, almost burning himself in the lava in the process.Only a half-instant later than the first attack, another Rahkshi, this a blackish one on Aurax's side of the circle, struck at the same target as the brown Rahkshi had been jumping for. It swung back its staff like a Kolhii player winding up for a goal, and swung the long weapon parallel to the earth in a sweeping arc. Aurax ducked this stroke, letting it pass over his head as he lunged from a crouch at the Rahkshi's legs. With a stab of his sword, he scored a hit against the creature, which screamed angrily, but he didn't dodge back in time to avoid the immediate evolution of the Rahkshi's staff-swing, which cut back diagonally and caught Aurax in a deep upward slash across the chest. The Cy-Matoran was sent a few feet into the air by the forcible strike, and while he was off the ground, the Rahkshi twirled its weapon elegantly so that the other end skewered Aurax grievously in the lower abdomen before he could hit the earth. Aurax's mouth opened in surprise and silent, intense pain; the Rahkshi flicked its weapon, sending the bloodied Aurax flying backwards to thump against the wall of the canyon, where he slumped like a rag doll, reddening the dusty ground. When Sulov shot the brown Rahkshi, the Chronicler Matoran with the disks saw an opening and immediately darted out from the circle, jumping over the freshly downed Rahkshi and running as fast as his legs could take him away from the battle cluster. The still-living Rahkshi whipped their heads around at the speedy motion; their prey was fleeing, and they would pursue. All five Rahkshi lost interest in the other Matoran as their main assignment fled, but the collateral damage was not done. Reordin was kicked casually out of the way by one of the Rahkshi as it picked up speed, landing perilously close to the molten rock flow in the middle of the canyon; Oreius managed to pull him back before he rolled down into it, but not before Reordin's fingers had been slightly burned as they slipped into the lava. Meanwhile Stannis threw his short spears like javelins at the retreating backs of the Rahkshi. One spear missed, but the other hit a Rahkshi, the limping one that Aurax had attacked, in the upper thigh; it hissed in agony, stumbled, fell into the magma stream, shrieked in intense pain. The creature tried to push itself up from the lava with its hands, only to find that they had already begun to melt, weaken. It flailed about in the lava until its shrill cries ended. At the same time as Stannis threw his spears, Sulov fired shot after shot from his pistol at the retreating forms of the Rahkshi; there were a few pinging noises, but he managed only to score glancing blows on their hard, spiny backplates. The Wanderer's Company could only watch as the Rahkshi disappeared gradually into the smoky air, their screams growing fainter. One cry rose suddenly louder than the others a good distance away; assumedly, the Rahkshi's prey had finally had a chance to use one of his disks. But after that, things only faded to silence and stillness. Takua was gone. OOC: Aurax, I'm very sorry, but it's now your job to die, and die well. Xemnas, feel free to PM me, and we can discuss fair reimbursement for this.

IC: Reordin (Lavabed, Ta-Wahi)The pain in Reordin's fingers was a dull burn as the Ko-Matoran sprinted over to Aurax and knelt beside the Matoran. Images of the Hive battle, parallels of Trakuda, made their way into his head unbidden as the lieutenant held the dying Aurax in his arms, tried in vain to stop the bleeding in his abdomen; even as he did so, blood from the Cy-Matoran's flayed lungs burst up and splattered all over Reordin's Sanctum Guard jacket, soaking through to his chest underneath, and immediately Reordin knew he was gone.He was quiet for a second, frozen in a temporal hold that none could break as he stared at the blacksmith: he remembered their first conversation, when Aurax had taken him to see Stannis talking of how he wished to change the world, how he'd wished to make a difference under Stannis's leadership. The dull thud of his heartbeat rang out in time with the burning of his charred fingers as he stood and cursed numbly; not until he saw the peeved look on Stannis's face did he realize he was talking out loud."We should bury him. Sulov, gimme a hand?"-Teezy

IC (Oreius)When Oreius took the Toa Stone, he half expected to turn into a Toa there on the spot; his muscles clenched, and his stomach twisted itself into a knot of apprehension and anticipation. But nothing happened. The stone, for now, had no more effect on him than a regular piece of rock. That said, it was a beautiful piece of stone. It was jet black and perfectly shaped, as though countless hours had been spent on it by a master craftsman. As Oreius wrapped his fingers around the stone, he half thought he could feel a faint, almost unnoticable pulse of heat from the centre of the black rock. Was it just the result of lying next to a river of lava, or was the stone actually producing heat, reminding any who touched it of the Toa from whom it came? The Ta-Matoran decided to save these thoughts for later, as well as any protests of unworthiness that he might have offered upon having the stone bestowed upon him. When the Matoran had given it to him, those words had been on his lips; he had been ready to decline, to offer the priceless treasure to Stannis, or Reordin; a hero should have been tasked with guarding this prize, not him. But the Matoran's gaze had silenced him. Destiny had chosen him. If it also offered him the honour of guarding the first Essence Stone, then he would take it, and do his duty.Oreius slipped the stone into his pack, and turned to follow the Matoran out of the canyon when a noise stopped him. The sound of metal on rocks.Within seconds, the Company was surrounded.Oreius lost his breath for a moment; he had never seen Rahkshi outside of fireside tales. The monsters were tall, lanky, and menacing, hissing softly, clutching deadly staffs in their talons. After a moment of thought, Oreius placed his Guard staff on the ground and drew his two long daggers. The extra reach his staff would afford him would be useless against the Rahkshiès staffs; their staves were almost twice as long. He would have to rely on the speed and agility afforded to him by his smaller size in order to survive.Even as he calculated the odds of his own survival, Oreius' thoughts revolved around the other members of the Company. Takua needed to survive more than he did; another Matoran could be chosen to bear a Stone, but if the Chronicler were killed, their quest would be over. Stannis, too, needed to be protected. The Wanderer had not led them wrong thus far, and Oreius was sure that they would need his guidance as their journey continued. Then a thought stopped him in his tracks: he had the Essence Stone. He was the one the others would be thinking to protect, if he knew how Reordin and Sulov thought, being soldiers as well. It was his nature to be on the front lines, risking everything for his comrades and his village, but now that was no longer his place. If the Rahkshi took the Stone, and Makuta realized the extent of Takua's plans, there would be no more hope. He had to keep the Stone out of his hands, no matter what. Then the battle began. Somehow, Sulov had come into possession of some sort of pistol. One Rahkshi down.Aurax engaged another monster, but he wasn't as lucky. A few quick, bloody striked, and the Matoran flopped against the wall of the canyon, bleeding.Takua saw his chance, and escaped the circle, running off into the Charred Forest. A moment later, Oreius realized what he was doing: leading the Rahkshi off. The sons of Makuta raced after him, quickly leaving the company in a vast, brooding silence.Oreius swallowed his guilt at not even being able to strike a blow, and ran over to Aurax. The Matoran was wheezing as his lungs struggled to draw in one more breath of precious air. The dusty ground around him had been turned to mud by the blood that was pouring out of him, his body emptying itself out on the ashes and rocks. One look was enough to tell the former Guard that there was no hope for Aurax. The Matoran were alone, stranded in the middle of a vast burnt forest, with no Toa to save them; no Mask of Healing to knit Aurax's broken frame back together. The first of their Company was nearly dead, and there was nothing they could do to save him.Oreius felt the weight of the Toa Stone in his bag, but it gave him little comfort. Yes, they had found the first of the six Essence Stones needed to challenge Makuta, but Takua was gone with Rahkshi in pursuit, and Aurax was dying here on a dry riverbed.Scarce hours ago, hope and never been brighter. Now, the darkness seemed deeper than ever.

IC, Aurax: The world went fuzzy. Figures stood around him. Aurax coughed and smiled. "Darn. I was worried something like this would happen." His body shuddered as it began to shut down. Memories flashed in his mind. Meeting Stannis. Walking throughout the island. Hafu's capture. Meeting Takua. Finding Reordin. And it all lead up to this "May Mata-Nui guide you on your journey, brothers..." With a final shudder and a loud wheeze, the heartlight of Aurax, the brave Toa of Crystal, went limp. He was dead.OOC: Oh well, being in this was fun while it lasted. Thanks to Nuju for letting me play a big part in this. But now it's time for your guys' chars to shine. Have fun. ;)

IC: The Matoran and four rahks gone, four bullets lost. Casualties: Aurax, two rahks. I stand up. I just finished checking to make sure the rahks are dead with quick slashes to the kraata. Looks like Reordin already checked Aurax. I didn't really know Aurax. All I remember him doing is eating what I offered him, is all. But he was a person. He had hopes and dreams and friends and life. And I see their faces again. All of them. War is karzhani, I remember. No one deserves to die.I sheath my weapons. I'll refill the gun later, when I have time to reload its cartridge and hands helping my one. Right now it's decision time. "We should bury him. Sulov, gimme a hand?"I pause. Really is decision time.Burying Aurax treats him with respect. In the force we kinda didn't care about how it was done-if someone falls in a crevasse, it's hard to get them sometimes. It's that they were remembered we cared about. Praying for 'em, making memorials. No one gets left behind. Not really. On the other hand, the Matoran's gone. Time spent burying might be better spent chasing him. Could we catch up to the rahkshi? No, I guess. They're fast. We could track them, but by the time we got there, it'd be too late. For now we gotta stay here. At least burying Aurax something will be accomplished. I'll give him the respect he deserves and the team will feel better.I draw my saperka and toss it to Reordin. A quick unsheath of the prosthetic and we start. I instruct him to measure the body with the spade (half a meter per saperka) and then we dig accordingly. It's dirty work. Cheap. The ditch we make for him is small, barely fitting his body, and the rocks tossed on after are only saperka-deep. But he's buried.I get my tools back in my sheaths and get up. The others can mark the grave...I'm not too good at writing. I'm just gonna check the tracks and bodies again. Gotta make sure of what happened.I grab the dead rahkshi's staff. Then I start examining the evidence of combat.

IC: MarksmanMarksman had watched the whole battle take place from a high cliff. Two of those rahkshi things were killed, from what he saw. This was amusing, "That was fun, too bad I couldn't bring popcorn,"

IC: Reordin (Lavabed, Ta-Wahi)Reordin took a second, pondering how to best mark the grave; he'd never pretended to be a warrior-poet or anything of the sort, and though he could be considered eloquent, graves were never his thing. Trakuda had been one thing, because all that had taken was a deep, blinding, poetic explosion, and Trakuda had wanted to be the one to blow open the Nui-Rama Hive. Aurax, meanwhile...here was a guy he'd barely known, beyond one deep conversation and rudimentary knowledge of his life he'd picked up on the trek to Le-Wahi. What would be written - what could be written - that would best memorialize Aurax and his quest, his journey for freedom ended too soon?"You write it, Stan," he finally called back wearily to the Pa-Matoran. "He was your friend."Reordin stood up and balanced himself on the balls of his feet for a second, watching the grave as though expecting Aurax's hand to dig itself through the rubble, like a drill in the Great Mine, and then pull itself into the dirt; when there was no sign of movement, no entrenching of fingers like roots of a tree to show that the Cy-Matoran had anything resembling breath or life left in his body, Reordin turned away, clapping Oreius on the shoulder and mumbling thanks for saving him back there with the lava and the Rahkshi. It occurred to him that his hand was still burnt, but he knew Sulov had probably brought some sort of plant to help treat burns, especially when he realized they were going to Ta-Wahi. As his gaze cast downward, though, the Sanctum Guardsman's footsteps slowed and stopped, his eyes suddenly focusing on a small cloth satchel on the ground: Takua's bag.Slowly, in the same trancelike state he'd been captive to when he watched Aurax die, Reordin knelt down and pushed the bag open, peering inside and trying to keep his heart from racing...-Teezy

mata_nui_map.pngIC:The first thing Reordin pulled out of the bag was a map of the island, assumedly drawn by Takua's hand. On it were marked the seven Koros - including Xa-Koro - and six letters inscribed in different places across the island: T, L, K, O, G, and P. It was written on flax paper, dried for crispness, but somewhat wrinkled and stained in places. Reordin set this gently aside and continued to look through the bag. He next pulled out a round heatstone, which seemed superfluous in Ta-Wahi, as well as a small lightstone lantern, crafted delicately and lovingly out of bamboo splinters. Also in the bag was a Ta-Koro Guard ensign, a small reddish amulet with the sign of the guard on it.There were other assorted papers inside, with various scribbled notes and drawings of Mata Nuian flora and fauna. Some of the drawings were of deadly Rahi, but were drawn with remarkable detail and proximity; it was clear Takua had to have been no more than a few feet away from them when he sketched their forms. There was a pretty conch shell, a bundle of rope, a high-quality Le-Koronian flute, and at the bottom, a clunky mechanical device. It was mostly brownish, had a screen on one side, and right next to it was a bulbous blue lens, underneath which were some buttons.Reordin removed this device, laying it carefully next to everything else, and felt around at the bottom of the bag. He extracted a small fly Rahi trapped in solidified amber, and a last, small piece of paper, on which was scrawled a list of names. Six of them were the names of himself and the beings around him. One of them he didn't recognize, and it was smudged out anyway. But the last one, he knew: :l: :e: :a: :h:

IC: The attack had been swift and brutal. Takua, had bravely led the Rahkshi away, probably knowing that if he'd stayed the attack would have been just as swift but with six more casualties. Lepidran was shocked. He'd been hoping he could lure a Ranama out of the lava flow, using it as a distraction to let them escape, but Takua had got there first. He dusted off his hands, covered in ash and grit from digging the grave, and tried to speak, his voice devoid of its usual Le-Matoran lilt and tree-speak, "So...uh...I guess we should...should we? I mean to say...that is...who is Leah?"

IC: OnuzekThe massive Toa answered the questions in typical Onuzek-style, the last to first. "No," the hulking Ba-Toa said, shaking his head, "Pretty-Gravity-Toa-Valria can keep her mask, Onuzek will find new one!" Onuzek then adressed the next question. "Onuzek got in sky by flying!" He said happily as a purple-ish glow surrounded his hands as he demonstrated how. For a few seconds the massive Toa hovered above the ground, before his elemental power dissapeared again. "Like that.""Onuzek doesn't remember how he lost his mask... And Onuzek would like to go to Fire-Volcano-Ta-Koro to get a new one."IC: Aelynn"One minute!" the Fe-Toa's voice called from her door. A few seconds later, Aelynn opened her door, looking like she had just rolled out of bed. Which she had. Aelynn was carrying their pack, and otherwise looked ready to go."What is it?" she asked, glancing behind Auron to see if anything was wrong.

IC: Reordin (Lavabed, Ta-Wahi)"Gukko Force officer. She fought at the Hive battle," Reordin said numbly, still staring at the emptied contents of Takua's satchel. The items were trinkets, things that soldiers would carry with them into the trenches; the flute, the conch shell, the strange mechanical device...all of them seemed to carry within them a piece of Takua's soul, and even the bag itself had the same worn yet inviting aura that the Chronicler had carried with him wherever he went. The fact that he was gone, snatched up so suddenly without any sort of bright side to even out the cosmic scales, was the worst sort of crime the little hero could be subjected to, and Reordin swore that whatever was responsible for snatching him up, swallowing him into the darkness, would someday pay. Then another tradition - again, from the military - came to him, and the lieutenant put all of Takua's items tenderly back into his bag and threw it around his shoulder. Someday, if they found the Matoran again, whether dead or alive, Reordin would set down the satchel in remembrance, as well as all the items that had served as Takua's only company for the century he had remained hidden. Until then, he, Reordin, would carry it as a silent remember of what the island had lost, and what it served to gain by continuing this little shindig."We can find Leah at Le-Koro and pick up the next stone while we're in the area. Two birds at once, right?"-Teezy

IC: I heft the rahkstaff of my kill. It's shaped like a double-ended trident with just about the weight and balance of the Telerahk's. Useful. I stow it by my other polearm for transport, then stand and turn to Reordin.I say nothing to his face. But I assume my rear position again. My actions can talk for themselves. We gotta move. It's stay here and die, or get out and start getting stuff done. And a good way to start that stuff is getting an ally. Course, it's a while to Le-Koro and the stone...I don't wanna get either yet. IC: Kaijon and PineasA golden toa entered Pineas's shop. Just about half an hour ago, he had received a letter from an old associate, Vhisoli Storukru, that told him that the time was ripe to enter into business again. "So," he said to Pineas. "How's business going?" "Not good," was the reply. "Nobody wants to work at a grocery store and I don't have enough money to turn this place into a supercentre. Besides, with all the fuss about the exploded cablecar and rumors of rahkshi in the area buzzing around, nobody seems to be interested; they're all distracted." "Well, that won't do," Kaijon replied. "Here, have a little money," he said as he tossed a sack containing probably about a couple million's worth of widgets to Pineas. "Why are you always giving me money?" Pineas asked. "Hey, you were my favourite student; of course I've gotta be nice to you! Besides, I probably won't miss any of those; can probably make double that in a week." Pineas silently nodded; no matter how many things he learned from Kaijon, he was never able to outdo him. "Well, I'll be off," he said as he left for his office. On the way back, he noticed a sign. "Hm," he said. "Cultured gentry... Sounds like they know their stuff..."
