OoC: "Darn you people and your fast-paced RPG!" :PIC - Rex-D062: The Spartan winked an acknowledgement light, then switched to his M45 as they entered the building. Although he was a Spartan, he was one of the chattier ones. Not talking would be like asking him to board a Wraith; hard, but not impossible. He switched to his MJOLNIR's night vision mode, then checked a door.IC: - Mato 'Moram: The bear of a Sangheili growled as he watched the battle against the Scarab. His unit had been ordered to stay back. Like most Elites, he wanted to be in the thick of battle. The Brute scalps on his belt testified to that. He dug two toes into the dirt, pawed the ground. He wanted to fight, to win, to claim glory and honor!

IC:[Vume Chavamai]Vume heard the orders, and moved towards the back almost mechanically. While his wounds individually were not severe, they added up quickly, and clouded Vume's brain with pain. His mind retreated to the techniques ingrained into the back of his mind. His movements were swift, brutal, inelegant, and extremely effective. Coming up on the first brute, he did not wait for his enemy to finish its battle roar before his sword leapt out and cut deep into the Jiralhanae's chest. Vume twisted the sword, then ripped upwards, tearing the heavily muscled body into ribbons. Vume knocked the corpse to the ground and moved onto a pair of grunts, his blade stabbing through one methane pack into the tiny body, glowing blue blood splattering the scarab's walkway. The other Unggoy opened fire, the plasma pistol shots burning away vume's shields. The Sangheili grabbed his opponent and threw it off the scarab, sending the grunt plummeting to the ground below.[Colin Ferris]Colin looked at the building across the way. "If I have cover fire while crossing the street, I can work my way to the top of the apartment complex, check on the squad inside, and set off a flair for evac." He raised his rifle and pulled the trigger twice, aiming for jackal in a window. The first three rounds missed, but the second volley tore through the jackals chest, sending it backwards.

I want you to hit me as hard as you can.

OOC: Working on a post now. And don't worry Lavama, it shouldn't be like the last one- I've just been swamped with final projects and studying this week. Next week is finals, so after that I'm in the clear fo sho. Between that and the internet failures we've been plagued with of late, I've just been having a cruddy time getting on BZP :PEDIT- Also, I'm guessing others are just as bushed as me with finals, so that would explain some people being inactive. Just hang in there til' the break guys! This is always a rougher time of year, unfortunately.IC: [specOps Commander B'kar Velrun]The Sangheili let the Jiralhanae charge right up until they were at the row of barricades B'kar and his men were behind. Without warning, B'kar stepped out and activated the energy dagger on his wrist, jabbing it swiftly into the stomach of the Minor who had unfortunately been in front of him. The Jiralhanae growled at the wound and moved to grasp B'kar's arm. Without warning, his other energy wristblade activated and severed the Jiralhanae's other arm at the forearm. It growled in pain as the large Sangheili shoved it back, letting it stumble and grasp at a forearm that was no longer present. His men deactivated camoflauge and proceeded to blockade the other Jiralhanae, all ending up in a melee brawl. Generally Jiralhanae had the advantage of raw strength, but the Sangheili had agility and iron resolve on their sides. In battle, B'kar was a firm believer that putting their honor at stake made them better fighters, sometimes even moreso than a tactically superior alternative. As the groups fought, the Captain attempted to dive right over the barricade Shor' had been near, while the Major attempted to brawl with Shor'...IC: [scarab- Back Area]Without warning the cerated edge of a Brute Shot impacted against Vume's chest, causing the Sangheili to stumble back. A Jiralhanae in dark blue armor appeared from the shadows of the shield area, and moved to lash out with a sharp kick, intent on knocking Vume off the Scarab...IC: [sgt. Maj. Antony Graham]Antony grunted as he shifted his position on the rubble, his rifle scanning the rooftops. "I can still fight. Seah, Ferris, I want you to both move up and rendezvous with the soldiers inside. Can't seem to raise 'em on the COMMs.. might be some sort of jammer up there. That or plasma fried their communications.. let's hope it's not the latter."His VISR flashed on, the red tint of a Jackal head lighting up for a moment as the VISR adjusted. Without warning, he cracked off a shot from his DMR and the creature seemed to recoil back."I can hold my own! Get those men and women out of there, and call for evac! It's an order!"The Sergeant Major edged himself over to a darker section of debris, his body armor seeming to blend in to an extent. The Sergeant Major grabbed a smoke grenade from his belt and held it at ready. "On my go, I'll provide covering fire. Seah, you move up first. Once you make it to the doorway, turn around and cover Ferris. Oorah?"IC: [AA Turret Site]The grenade detonated, and a scream of pain was heard. One of the O.N.I. operatives was now on the ground, clutching his calf. The other soldier dropped to one knee and fired off a few rounds at the Brute that had thrown the grenade. The Brute shot had been a clean miss, and allowed the second operative the time to pull the pin off his own frag and send it towards the group of Brutes converging on his position. Not wanting to risk getting shot in open fire, he grabbed the collar of the wounded soldier and started to drag him the rest of the way. As if a testament to their training, the wounded soldier reached for his sidearm and shakily held it in both hands, firing in the general direction of their pursuers..~~~~~~~~~~~The Brute let out a yelp of surprise as the Hornet's rounds ripped at its' weak shielding, and throwing it off balance. Two plasma bolts fired out of the Launcher as the Brute fell flat on its back, exposed. Within moments a sniper round ripped through the exposed throat of the Brute and ended its life. However, the two bolts began to trace grimly through the air, seaking the heated engines of the Hornet..IC: [Major Domo Sel Quatar]Surveying the battle from afar, the Major sighed to himself. "The Scarab isn't a worthy target at this point.. Humans are sending scattered reports concerning that Turret in the distance.."The Major Domo pointed one of his long, muscular fingers towards the Turret that was ripping through small aircraft within its scan range, gunning down potentially battle-turning craft. The Sangheili looked over to Mato, and over each of their inferiors."Brothers, our foes the Jiralhanae push to destroy the human asset! We shall move forth and cleanse their filth from this city!"The Sangheili all roared in anticipation and began to run through the secured portion of the streets they had been tasked with. By the time they had arrived, all the civilians had evacuated the sector. Several heavy vehicles quickly laid waste to the Innsurrectionists, leaving Sel and Mato's soldiers with nothing more to do. After surveying the area, Sel Quatar had found a suitable target that needed reinforcements: The Anti-Aircraft Turret near the drydocks at the edge of New Venice, just south of Rome Street.IC: [Privates O'Brien, Paulson, Jackson, Mark]"Oorah.. Jackson, Paulson you guys take care of the flanks. I'll take point.." O'Brien grimly turned the corner of the building, his rifle trained in a way unseen when the group had first encountered Seah and Willy."Tangos will likely be in lower building windows.. they've mostly been ratted out, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's another.." The voice was Jackson, who seemed to trace along the rooftops cautiously as the group slowly inched forward. Paulson replied, "Heh, the carrion would circle up high so to say... Hey, Willy? How'd you end up here?"IC: [spartans - Blue Team]Edward nodded as Terra led the way in. His hands motioned Fan out. Check your corners. Something was eerily silent..Clang!One of the nearby ventilation shafts seemed to groan. Immediately, Edwar's weapon snapped up towards it, among others. He balled his fist, Hold. The clanging was heard a second time, a third, fourth... Then a sort of angry screech sounded as the ventilation shaft's cover fell to the floor. The iridescent chasis hadn't even completely exited the shaft as three rounds tore through it."Drones!"

IC [shor Talas]:Shor' feinted a strike at the Major's head, then doubled over to deliver a blow from his left fist to the Major's unarmored Abdominal area. The Major yelled in fury, swinging his fist and knocking Shor' back. Shor' rolled over just as another Brute, a Captain, made his move. Shor' decided to pull off a daredevil move, and leaped on the Major, deftly sticking his hunting blade into its neck as they stuggled. This would hopefully, confuse the Captain.IC [sgt. Seah]:"Oorah," John replaced his DMR on his back and sprinted across the broken courtyard toward the building. HE heard the sounds of Carbines firing, but none managed to hit him. He reached a foundation then drew his DMR. "Ferris, go!"IC [shawn D-042]:Shawn almost yelped in surprise, but his training kicked in instead. He quickly pulsed the Plasma Rifle on the Drones, taking down four within a three seconds.

IC: Terra sighed loudly and casually pulled the pin on one of her grenades and threw it towards the vent in the armoury. a gut wrenching cry emanated from within the vent as the Drones inside where caught by a blast of shrapnel from the grenade. "At least they know were here now" with a devilish grin hidden under her helmet she shot a pair of drones at point blank.

IC: Cassandra's Battle Rifle was already unslung and pressed into her shoulder. She crouched and fire at one drone, the three round burst, to the skull, She then turned and attacked another one that was making it's way towards her, she clipped its wing and it crashed to the ground twitching, Cass lifted her boot and then crushed the Drone like the insect it was. Hopefully they could secure this armory and then move towards the bridge. Then again perhaps staying her and keeping the majority of weapons out of their hands was best thing that their team could do.

IC- Rex-D062:The grey-clad Spartan hadn't figured bugs into the equation (then again, he'd never been good at math), and he was ill-equipped to fight them. But that wouldn't stop him from blasting each one like so many bugs on a windshield. He fired once, twice, three times, and a Drone fell from each blast. Plasma and Needler rounds glanced off of his shields, dropping the Mk. VI's shields a bit with each impact. An alarm shrilled, and Rex ducked behind a wall. He fed more rounds into his M45 and smacked a curious Bugger that came around the corner as his shield recharged. The Drone dropped a Needler, which Rex grabbed, tossing his shotgun aside for a moment. He flashed a hand signal that meant, "Duck and cover!" and opened fire with the crystal-launching weapon.

IC: Terra was troubled by the futility of the event with the drones there they where trapped in a room with the drones pouring through the ventilation shaft. sheltered behind the table in the main armoury a needler round embedded in her shoulder armour she pulled it out and crushed it. "Why don't we activate the ventilation and suck them out?"

OOC: Apologies about my inactivity. School just let out for winter break, so hopefully I'll be posting more frequently.Incidentally, is there anyone being transported on the Pelican D-23? I'm thinking of spawning my Human character on there.IC: Zarana Fehra Veru & Kaldera Fehra Selre | Battle of New Venice | AA Gun SiteBy now the two Hunters had made headway with a group of Brutes that had split off to try and down them: all of whom had heavier weaponry than most infantry. Thankfully, their Assault Cannons and heavy armor were a good match to them, and the black craters on the ground attested to their power. At the moment they had pulled back, giving the back-to-back Hunters some breathing room. Zarana took her eyes briefly off the cover that the surviving enemies had moved behind and noticed the two Humans that were pulling away: one was wounded. After calculating the trajectory of her gun, she turned slightly to get a better sight of the Brutes that they were shooting at, and sent a single round towards the group's rear flank.-Inferna

IC- Rex-D062:The Gunnery Sergeant smiled. "It won't be much fun," he replied, pulling a wing and a leg off of a Drone. He had dropped the Needler and grabbed his M45. "but we'd be able to move on quicker."IC- Voro 'Chonchiyo:The Zealot's Seraph glided through the cold vacuum of space, its engine humming quietly. Voro had been tasked with escort duty by his brother. The escortee in question was a Sangheili freighter. The plan was simple: the freighter would rendzevous with an Insurrectionist ship, deliver the cargo, refuel, and return to Sanghelios. 'Chonchiyo clicked his mandibles once, and slowed his ship to match the freighter's speed.

OOC : Sorry about the disappearence. Got a grandparent with cancer, and I've been cleaning the house. He's already on a pacemaker, so we're keeping him here. Now, where did I hide that post generator... There it is!PFC Willy Berrien IC (Gung-Ho Marines) :"I was part of the parade, and the rest was foggy. I took some cover, and next thing I know I'm firing to help that Elite." William stopped talking, and started walking north closer to the shadows. "Hey, guys, be careful. It's awful load there."Captain Macabethus IC (AA Gun with O.N.I. Link) : The bullets hit the outer shield of Macabethus, and it almost gave. Giving a small curse at his pathetic shielding, he say a small object heading towards the group."Human grenade!" He did an impressive leap over to some cover, noting the Hunters noticed their little group. Not the best day. He crouched and fired two shots at the hunters, and kept moving on the humans, not intent on letting his original pray go victorious without a fight.PO 2nd Class Lyn Carter IC (Hit) :The plasma rounds flew towards her Hornet, and she started a small circle motion, hoping this would work. As they neared, she knew she was going to be hit. The first round neared and she dove down hard.

OOC: So much for the fast-moving RPG ... anyone seen Vak?IC: Zarana Fehra Veru & Kaldera Fehra Selre | Battle of New Venice | AA Gun SiteThe shots were predictable: Anyone would fire on a Hunter that wasn't on their side. Zarana crouched, placing her heavy armor plating and her shield between herself and the blasts one of the Brutes had fired at her. As they connected, heat washed over her body, making the gestalt's component parts shudder, but little permanent damage was done.Shaking off the attack, she rose up and losed another set of blasts at the Brutes, while behind her, Kaldera cycled in a new set of cannon rounds. The enemy that was behind cover was playing a game similar to Human Whack-a-Mole, occasionally popping out their heads and vanishing before he could send a shot. He just needed to be patient. They'd come out eventually ....-Inferna

OOC: Sorry for the inactivity of late. As I stated in previous posts, school and extra curricular really intensified at this time of year and I was drained. Anywho, finals are over as of today. I'll be reading up and getting a post up (doing a bit of Xmas decorating right now). Hope you're all done or almost done with this semester of schooling as well!

IC: [scarab - Belly]The Captain grunted as the Major fell, its spine severed by the stab. Realizing his second-in-command was now dead and beyond salvage, the angry Jiralhanae hefted a spike-studded grenade and- knowing very well the risk of friendly casualties- tossed it behind him as he ran up the ramp to the main leve of the Scarab. The grenade caught on one of the barricades, the cerated edges cracking the outter casing of the barricade it latched onto. There was a flare, and sharp, super-heated objects ejected in the detonation..IC: [spartan Blue Team]After nearly a minute's worth of bugger's chasis littering the ground, the alien screeches came to a halt and were no more. Edward stepped out cautiously from his plasma-scorched cover as the familiar beeping of his shields recharging sounded. Edward was in the center of the armoury between two rows of MA5B rifles, and his vision of the entire room was obscured. "Break radio silence.. it won't matter now, they know we're here. Armoury clear?"IC: [sergeant Major Antony Graham]The Sgt. Maj. of the ODSTs fired several warning shots at the rooftops as Seah made his way across, ensuring a safe traversal of the battlefield. When Seah made it across, Antony yelled into his COMM, "Turn and cover Ferris! Ferris, you're up!"Antony ripped another grenade from his belt and lobbed it over, following with a fresh clip worth's of covering fire. "Two mags left on me, make it worth it boys!"IC: [O'Brien, Jackson, Paulson, Mark]O'Brien nodded over his shoulder at Willy. "We're secure in the back right now.. You're covered, sir."IC: [AA Turret Site]The soldier with the rifle in hand yelled human obsceneties as a razor-sharp and superheated spike tore through his pectoral. He dropped to one knee, one arm still up as he fired vaugely at the Brutes. Two of the Brutes dispatched to distract the Hunters so the others could finish the humans off. The two hefted Brute Shots, intent on blowing the Lekgolo worms clean out of the large colonies.~~~~~~~~~The first plasma bolt missed by mere centimeters, only for the second to connect with the left rotary blade. It detonated, the plasma scorching clean through the Titanium-A metal, and one of the rotary blades was left as a jagged slag of metal. The Hornet attempted to stabilize, but systems started to fail as the vehicle dizzily entered a downward spiral, warnings blaring in the pilot's face.

IC (Sgt. Seah):John fired at the roofs from which Carbine shots were raining down without stopping. Not long after, Ferris managed to reach his destination. "Alright Ferris, I'll take point. Ready?"IC [shor' Talas]Shor covered his head and went into a fetal position as spikes from the grenade lodged themselves into numerous objects. Two of which were Shor's helmet and ankle. "Blargh!" Shor instinctively grabbed his foot in pain, his head was alright, fortunately.IC [shawn D-042]:Shawn winked his acknowledgement light, more out of habit and preference for being silent in combat. He followed after Edward.

IC: Zarana Fehra Veru & Kaldera Fehra Selre | Battle of New Venice | AA Gun Site Kaldera took his eyes off the cover their retreating foes (he was getting the feeling that their Whack-a-Mole enemies had pulled away completely) to look at what Zarana was facing, and noticed the incoming heavies. "Zarana!""I see them," came the response. "Two shots from both of us. You get the one on the right. Shields up."Hefting up their arms, the Fehra pair gauged the distance between themselves and the advancing Brutes, fired off a pair of shots each, and then covered their bodies with the shields, allowing them to absorb whatever was coming next.OOC: Nothing says "Happy Holidays!" like a battle. :P-Inferna

IC: [Colin Ferris(Before Fluttertree's post)]Colin took a deep breath and scanned the area before him. Seah made it across, and now it was his turn. He glanced around, hoping to find something of value. His eyes landed upon the perfect pair of items, near a pile of slag that used to be a UNSC vehicle. Colin had always been fast. There were two things that Colin had been good at, drinking and running. He'd been set up for scholarships to almost every college in the UK for his speed before his rebellious decision to join the UNSC. He took one more breath, holstered his battle rifle, then sprinted out of cover, but not to the door. He heard the snipers open fire, but ignored the bullets and continued forward. He dove next to the slag pile, grabbing at the shotgun and assault rifle as he slid past.He rolled behind the slag and heard the lat few sniper rounds impact on the melted metal. He glanced at the door, now at an angle from him, allowing the snipers a morbid shooting gallery of sorts if he ran across. He grabbed at a grenade off his belt, eyed the distance between himself and the door, pulled the pin on the grenade, and lobbed it about halfway between himself and the door, then waited just a couple of seconds. As soon as he heard the explosion, he bolted through the smoke, obscuring him him enough for almost all the snipers to miss their mark. Colin felt a piercing fire go through his arm as he approached the door. The shot had only nicked him, but it was enough to cause the ODST to bite down on his lip in pain. He slipped through the door and grabbed the frame, flipping him against the wall. He looked at Seah, "Sorry about the delay, sergeant, but it would have been pointless to get in here just to get gunned down because we were outgunned in close quarters." He held out the shotgun and assault rifle, "Want one?"[Vume Chavamai]Vume rolled away from the kick. His eyes, once glazed over, now focused on his new opponent. Brutes were disgusting, and held no respect for the Sangheili's idea of honor. So Vume decided to show it none. He grabbed at his other incendiary grenade and threw it at the brute, at the same time, rising to his feet and drawing his sword.

IC [sgt. Seah]:John admired Ferris' daring move, and patted his shoulder in approval. "Sonofa-, you could have gotten yourself riddled with holes before even going in. Good work," John grabbed the Assault Rifle and turned off its safety. "Alright, I'll take point. You ready?" John slung his DMR and held his Assault Rifle at the ready. He entered the lobby of the dilapidated hotel, checking for any signs of hostiles. They were lucky, the first floor had a few dead Elites.

IC: [Colin Ferris]Colin winced slightly at the pat, his wound still fresh, but he nodded at the sergeant. "Better to die out there than in here unprepared." He checked the shogun. There wasn't a lot of ammo, twelve rounds, total, but it would do, especially in such close quarters. He raised it, and followed Seah in, activating his VISR as he moved.

IC: Allan inched forward, limping toward a wall for cover. The grunts had triggered further explosions, with the rest of their comrades also detonating the explosives attached to them. Most of the innies in the Crow's Nest were dead, but all of Allan's team were either dead or incapacitated.Taking a quick look around the corner, he saw a single human, attempting to drag the corpse of one of his dead allies off of a mounted sniper rifle. Allan made a sharp turn and fired a single burst, the rounds penetrating and exiting the innsurrectionist's skull all within but a second.Following the swift end of the hostile, Allan began dragging his team into the nest, taking those that were only WIA to the corner closest to the mounted rifle."Come on," he muttered to himself, dragging Rachel over into cover. When he'd finally placed her safely with the rest of his teamates, he mounted the sniper rifle and began searching for targets. The weapon was powerful; 50 callibres worth of punch. The first hostile elite he had in his sights fell within seconds, victim to a headshot.

OOC: Hope the holidays went well, all! :) I got Glasslands among other things, so soon enough I'll be up to date on the canon! (interestingly, some of the info in this book reflects some future plot devices I have). Also, I'll be kind of rogue throughout today- we're going to my uncle's to visit some family that we otherwise only get to see once a year. So before I bid you an undetermined adieu, a post :3NOTE- I have to go for a bit to help a friend, so I'll be adding these posts when I get back: AA Turret, Spartans. I'll also respond to any new posts that have popped up! Sorry about the unexpected leave all!IC: [scarab - Belly]Silence filled the Belly of the Scarab after the grenade had detonated. The mechanical rumbles were all that could be heard for the moment, as if the brawl within had gone numb. Silence, like everything in the chaotic fields of war, is but temporary. From the silence came several warbles of Sangheili victory, accompanied by the crashing of heavy Jiralhanae bodies riddled with their own spikes. The Sangheili for the most part had used the Jiralhanae as meat shields.B'kar threw his dead opponent down, and looked around. "Casualties?"Two of his men moved to Shor's side, examining the wound. "This one's lucky- almost felled by a skull penetration. If it weren't for our gear--""Yes, yes, he's fine.. Anything else?""Well, my Commander, his ankle.. can you walk, Talas?"While the Sangheili conversed about their injured companion, another Sangheili called from the other side of B'kar. "It's Raea! He's been slain!"The Commander turned his attention to the Sangheili warrior behind him, and noted grimly how a spike had gone clean through Raea's mouth, an unfortunately perfect trajectory."Nothing we can do now.. The warrior died in an honourable brawl. Talas, if you can move, we are ready to pursue the enemy and end this threat."IC: [scarab - Back]The Jiralhanae managed to duck mostly out of the way of the deadly firebomb grenade, but had the unfortnate lethargy of his bulk. The casing shattered on his hand and soon his arm became engulfed in fire, the Jiralhanae yelling and struggling in pain to put it out. Before Vume could move in to finish the foe however, a much larger Jiralhanae came from behind, grabbing the Sangheili's arm in a martial move exhibited by Spartans, and twisting it to a point of pain where the Sword would dangle precariously from Vume's fingers."Not today, Sangheili.." The cruel eyes of the Jiralhanae Captain were something of malice and revenge.IC: [sergant Major Antony Graham]The ODST winced in pain as he shifted his fractured leg from behind his cover. The two had made it in safely, and that was what mattered. Feeling relatively secure himself until MedEvac could arrive, Graham's job quickly shifted to informing Seah and Ferris. "Alright you two, you're in deep.. the squad cleaned up before you, but be wary of enemy resistance nonetheless.. I'm going to try and patch through to Allan Myles."Switching channels, he sent a ping to the soldier, one Allan Myles. Through warbled static the marine would recieve the message, "Sergeant Myles? C--...? I rep---, come in?"

He forgot what it was called, so he ignored saying it.PO2C Lyn Carter and Captain Macabethus IC (Downed Bug) : The Hornet's alert systems started blaring in Lyndis' face as it started to spiral down out of control. It didn't just catch the attention of her, but a certain Brute Captain had been close and was causing havoc for some humans and a pair of Hunters that suddenly got distracted. Not wanting the Brutes to succeed, she drove her Hornet into the area around the Brutes. Macabethus saw this and dove out of the way barely, being a little heated up by the near scorch. He started to note his hatred of humans. As if in an enraged position, he ran towards the downed bug and smashed on the cock pit, it nearly giving away. She grabbed her Assault Rifle, a MA5C ICWS, and primed it, waiting on the glass to give.

IC: "I hear you Sarge," Myles said, firing another shot at an insurrectionist elite closing in upon the med-bay. "I have two KIAs and the rest of my squad in WIA and incapacitated. I have you covered for now, but I'm going to need some covering fire or back up to make sure innies don't overrun this position. IC [shor' Talas]:Shor held the spike lodged in his ankle tightly and took a deep breath. With a muffled grunt, he yanked it out of his foot, drops of purple blood spilling over. Shor motioned for a bandage of sorts, hoping that some of the Sangheili had the equivalent to the humans' medkits which, despite his dislike for them, found most prudent. "I can move, let me heal this wound first."IC [sgt. Seah]:John edged up the staircase, and into a floor with a few guest rooms. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a pair of Kig-Yar Majors patrolling the area. "Ferris, I'm going to try the stealthy approach, if all heck breaks loose, let them taste buckshot," John whispered. He then crept up on one of the Kig-Yar, hoping to bash his back in.

IC: [Vume Chavamai]Vume closed his eyes. He was so tired, so very tired. He was tempted to simply surrender, and hope that the Jiralhanae would take him prisoner, but he laughed at the idea. The humans called them Brutes, and the name was fitting, there were no prisoners except those specifically demanded by their command, whatever that may be nowadays. He let go of the sword, letting it drop. "The humans have a saying I have heard. It goes, an eye for an eye. I think I can understand that saying, it all comes back to equality. Things must be even. I have taken your subordinates arm, and now you must take mine. It seems fitting." Vume relaxed, then he free hand shot up backwards, fingers grasping for the eye holes of the brutes visor, attempting to find the small, fragile eyes, unprotected by armor. "The difference is, we are not equals!"[Colin Ferris]Colin opened a channel to Seah, and whispered very quietly. "Jackals are brittle boned. No need to hit them and cause a ruckus, just grab the neck and twist. Quiet and efficient, and that way, we won't have to worry about one of them squawking out a warning."

I want you to hit me as hard as you can.

Something on your mind, Dear?

Hey, you created me. I didn't create some loser alter-ego to make myself feel better. Take some responsibility!

OOC: Welp, I managed to finish Glasslands. Very good read with a few twists!IC: [AA Turret]The brute shot's deadly grenades bounced harmlessly off their heavy slab-like shields, most detonating mere distances away and harming neither side. One managed to detonate on the edge of Kaldera's shield, a piece of shrapnel managing to stab through one of the many eels making up the colony. The shrapnel hung loosely from the torso of the Hunter, bits of orange fluid leaking from the eels.As the Hornet came crashing down, some of the Brutes were forced to duck out of the way and evade their pursuit of the two injured human officers. The two made it to the sniper's nest, where a couple of ODSTs helped the one with the crippled leg up the ladder while the other tried to cover with his good arm. Seeing the Hornet still had an occupant, he called in to the Scottsman defending the turret itself across the battlefield. "Sir, we've got a soldier down. The hornet's got a live pulse going off in there, and the apes are zoning in on her position. As occupied as they seem to have the Hunters, I don't know that the two could get to her in time.. nor would care enough about a single human to. We're WIA over here, request someone save the pilot."A reply came through gritted teeth and even grittier static. The rattle of gunfire was plain as day as the Brutes pressed on the turret's site but made little progress. "Aye, we hear ye. I'll send in Chaney and Dubois to get 'em out. Just stay alive out there.""Yes sir."The battle around the turret, while perhaps moot at this point, had broken into three fights: The brutes pressing on the turret itself, brutes attempting to flush out the sniper and ODSTs with the sniper, and the fight between the hunters and downed hornet pilot.IC: [spartans - Blue Team]Edward shrugged his shoulder slightly, the only way anyone could pick up on his impatience with Terra's coi, matter-of-factly attitude. Behind the visor, Spartans were faceless to others. Only their body language spoke anything, and when it spoke, it spoke volumes."We're going to need to lock down this room after we leave it. Take the opportunity to take whatever arms and ammo you think will best suit us- keep in mind, humans and possibly more buggers are the only anticipated targets."Edward moved to the door opposite of where they had entered, taking a fiber-optic probe from his pouch and snaking it around the corner. Area clear, he signed. Slowly moving out into the next hall with his gun raised, he asked the others, "Who's our techie, here?"IC: [O'Brien, Gung-Ho]Mark grunted and shivered a bit. The other Marines immediately took a concerned notice. "We're close, right Berrien?" O'Brien's face was as grim as it had been the moment Mark first lost his arm to that plasma grenade, and without so much as a warning, his gun cracked off three shots and a curious Kig-Yar crumpled behind him."...Hopefully close. The scavengers are getting curious.. they may not even be part of the official Insurrection, but they sure as **** don't act any different.."IC: [sergeant Major Antony Graham]"I read you Myles.. Ha--.... Hang on."Graham adjusted his position again, and found a much more suitable connection to talk with Myles. "There we go, that's cleared up. I've got two personnel headed your way- PFC Colin Ferris and Sergeant John Seah. They're coming up the same way you did, so there shouldn't be too much resistance unless you were powerwalking to that nest. Over?"Overhead, the battle was also coming to an end. The Plataea drifted victoriously in the sky as the Corvette slowly sank into the seas. Most of the alien craft in the sky were Sangheili Seraph fighters, working in tandem with the UNSC's own Falcons and Hornets to chase off what opposition remained. All ships in the sky remained well clear of the human frigate- Word had gotten out that a Spartan team was inside and retaking the ship.Let's hope they don't steal all the glory from us regular troopers..IC: [specOps Commander B'kar Velaekt]One of his soldiers quickly moved to the Sangheili's side and procured a basic herbal wrap. "This should preserve your honor brother. Rest assured."Not wanting to wait a moment longer, B'kar nodded in what could only be read as disinterested approval. "Very well. Those of you still able to fight, we move. The Jiralhanae are still using this vehicle as a crusader of death, and we must change that."B'kar faded from view again, the only traces of him being bloodied foosteps left by the blood he had been standing in. His men one-by-one began to follow suit, one staying behind to tend to the dead and injured, while also policing the Jiralhanae bodies. The time had come to remove the Jiralhanae presence once and for all.IC: [scarab - Vume's Position]The Jiralhanae captain pulled back at this sudden lash out, his grip loosening and becoming sloppy. He growled as the Sangheili slipped out of his grasp and threw down his gun. The Captain was beserking now.. and while they sacrificed their weapons as well as common sense, they also became that much harder to actually kill. The Captain lunged at the weakened Sangheili intent on smashing him into the bulkhead.

IC: Zarana Fehra Veru & Kaldera Fehra Selre | Battle of New Venice | AA Gun SiteKaldera shuddered. One of the Lekgolo that made up his being had been destroyed. One eel wasn't much -- the whole was greater than the sum of its parts -- but while the colony reorganized itself to make up for the missing part, he was more or less immobilized.Zarana fired another pair of blasts at the Brutes with the Brute Shots, covering for her bond-brother. For a moment, she examined the Hornet wreck, and then returned her attention to keeping Kaldera protected.OOC: Is it just me, or does Kaldera seem like the trouble-magnet of the Fehra-pair? :P-Inferna

IC: Terra scanned the armoury. "considering there going to be more Drones I'm going to grab some pistols". Terra clamped the pistols to her armor "I'm kind of the techie but that would only apply if you want a large explosion and a totalled frigate which I can do as a matter of fact" Terra didn't really care if Edward valued her opinion or not.

OOC: It would seem fitting of Kaldera's personality :PIC: [AA Turret]The Jiralhanae wasted no timing allowing their former allies to recover. Very few Mgalekgolo had stood by the Jiralhanae during the Great Schism, and even fewer had remained with their shattered society in the Postwar years. However, the Jiralhanae found a sort of rivalry with the Mgalekgolo- the only species that could physically overpower them. Perhaps that was where one of the Majors lost sight of strategy."Brothers, tear the colonies apart! Let us rend them from one another!"With that, a small pack of Jiralhanae- Prominantly minors as well as the mouthy Major- threw aside their weapons as they charged and slowly went onto all fours, closing the gap between them and the Mgalekgolo at breakneck speeds. The pack seemed to spread in a half circle, attempting to surround the two armored behemoths. The first Jiralhanae Minor jumped at Zaranu, hand outstretched to grab onto one of the razor-sharp spikes of the bond-sister to board her.IC: [spartan Blue Team]Edward sighed to himself, keeping it well below usual audible levels- Spartan IIIs maintained good hearing among other things. Edward sourly found himself remembering members of his entire company more and more with each passing minute. They were a straggly bunch in the wake of the Covenant War, but O.N.I. had failed the Spartan IV project initiated by Parangosky, and there were only so many orphaned children left to start a Delta Company of Spartan IIIs. Only a hundred of us, as opposed to three times that many, Edward sourly reflected. The only reason Edward or any of the Spartan-IIIs knew of the Spartan IV program was because their trainers being Gamma Company Spartan-IIIs, led by two senior officers: Lucy B091 and Tom B292. The group had explained to the orphans why their purpose was warranted, and the unfortunate facts were that O.N.I. didn't anticipate the failure of Spartan IV.Edward shook these thoughts from his head and finally replied to Terra. "No, we need to be stealthy.. the enemy may be aware of our presence, but not our placement. We keept his quiet."

OOC: Mm, true enough. :P IC: Zarana Fehra Veru & Kaldera Fehra Selre | Battle of New Venice | AA GunKaldera had more or less recovered by now; enough to be able to see the present danger that was upon himself and his sister. What passed for eyes widened. "Zarana! Behind you!"The female Hunter, surprised by her bond brother's panicked warning, started turning around, her shield rising up in an instinctive block.OOC: Apologies for being late; server was being fail. <_<-Inferna

IC [sgt. Seah]:The ODST nodded, then with a deft swing of his left arm, brought his hand clamped down onto the Kig-Yar's throat. John let go after the thing stopped squabbling. John moved to engage the remaining Kig-Yar, hoping that it would not catch his scent.IC [shor' Talas]:Shor' got up and grabbed the Sangheili's pauldron in gratitude. "Let us not waste any more time," Shor' picked up a discarded Plasma Rifle and checked its charge. This would replace his totaled Needle Rifle.IC [shawn D-042]:Shawn wanted to remind Terra that their mission was to reclaim, not to destroy. But felt it was otherwise unnecessary to this loose cannon. He moved to the armory and picked up a MA37 assault rifle. He followed behind Edward, then tried to hack the lock on the door to close permanently.IC [Pvt. Serrox] (elevated postion near AA turret):"Bloody Warthogs and their open carriages. Got me shaken out..." Will cursed more to himself than to anyone else. His fellow Marine had already died from landing on his head first. He picked himself up and scrounged the dead Marine for ammo. Then, he set up a sniper position beneath the husk of a dilapidated rooftop."Ah, two friendly Hunters and a rude pack."Will held his breath and pulled off two shots at the head of a Brute Major, popping his helmet off and hitting his cranium.

PO2C Lyn Carter and Captain Macabethus IC (Angry Giant) :Not only the fact that he almost got squished made him mad, the fact that he lost his two targets when they were so close enraged him. He paused for a crucial second in pounding the Pilot's glass shield, and went to some cover, now knowing where the Sniper's Nest is. Right when Macabethus was about to give the order to start firing on the snipers, he noticed that a foolish Major had attacked the Mgalekgolo. In a soft voice, he whispered a curse, and fired at the Sniper's Nest. Then he formulated a pattern to keep himself a moving target. What he didn't count on was that Lyn, the Pilot, had some energy left in her after the spiral down. It was a large drop, and it wrecked her a little, but it wasn't the first time she was downed, probably the second. The thing that messed with her was how fast it dropped. She started kicking at where that Brute had left off, attempting to break it.PFC Willy Berrien IC (Here comes the bird?) :Willy watched as the Jackal fell to the shots fired by O'Brien, and wondered what it was exactly he was working with. He felt Mark groan and move, and took at his HUD."We're here, but I don't know where the Pelican is." William yelled at himself in his mind for not knowing how to contact the Pelican. Setting Mark down, he looked at the other three. He got some of the healing stuff he forgot the name of, and looked to see if it was okay to put more on Mark's arm.

IC: [Colin Ferris]Colin moved up to support Seah, but while moving his foot, kicked a piece of rubble. Moving on instinct , he darted past the sergeant and leaped towards the jackal, who was turning to inspect the noise. Colin's hand shot out in a fist as the jackal opened its mouth to cry out, and the jackal was shocked when instead of a noise coming out, the ODST's fist lodged in its throat. Colin was just as surprised to find himself in the situation. His hand was caught at the back of the Kig-yar's mouth, creating the odd image of the alien trying to eat Colin, which would be funny if it weren't a real possibility. The jackal bit down on Colin, the needle like teeth diggin into the ODST armor, attempting to pierce skin. Colin brought his other hand down on the Jackal's head, attempting to break the fragile bones. After two or three blows, he felt the skull give out and the mouth slacken. Colin pulled his arm out, shaking off the foul smelling saliva. He looked at Seah, "Sorry, acted on reflex." He looked at the jackal body, "The attacking part was reflex, the fist mouth thing? That's a new one."[Vume Chavamai]For a split second, while lying on the floor of the scarab, Vume thought about simply letting the Jiralhanae maul him to death. To those who found him, it would seem an honorable enough death, dying in the line of duty, fighting even when his body was weakened and enfeebled. But it would not stand of Vume. Dying to a Jiralhanae, a smelly primate? Dying for ideal that Vume was not even sure he believed in? No, it would be a most dissatisfying death. The Sangheili scrambled for his sword, grabbing it and activating it as he brought it to bear against his enemy. Still on the ground, Vume held it pointed directly at the Brute Major, hoping the berserking brute would fail to avoid it and let gravity do the work for him.

IC [sgt. Seah]:John nodded, at least Ferris was good at improvisation. He moved stealthily past the messy Jackal and crept up the stairs."Myles, if you read, we are on the third floor right now," John turned the corner at the staircase, and spotted some opposition. They still had the element of surprise, however.

IC: "Yeah, I hear them, give me a second," Myles said, seeing a few shadows approaching. They were jackals. Easy targets for a marksmen in the shadows, but he found himself without his rifle and in possession of a high-calibre weapon of which he could not dismount. However, he quickly saw a solution.Amongst what was left of the crow's nest were a plethora of scattered explosives, including an array of missile pods and M79 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, otherwise known to the brass as "rocket launchers".Allan quickly lept for one, biting on his lip to silence any groan of pain that might arise due to the starin on his injured leg, a small metal rod impaled in its side.It had a single rocket remaining in one of its tubes, which he assumed would be enough. The shadows grew closer, drawing upon the location more quickly. Allan huddled himself against the small remnants of the back wall and braced himself. One, two, three, four sheilds emerged in the doorway. Just as one jackal cried out to the others, signalling that he had seen the ODST, Allan fired the rocket, propelling it behind the hostiles. As soon as it exploded, it tore a hole in the wall it made contact with, killing all of the jackals and sending one flying out of the building out into the innies below."You're good Seah, as I'm sure you saw and heard," Allan told the Sergeant over the comm. "Come on down and let's get to work."
