Ghidora131
2015 Toa, Ekimu, and Skull Grinder Entry for fishers64's blog contest Heya. Made these a short while ago for the contest, but only got to taking pictures now. I hope you like them. TAHU, MASTER OF FIRE With temper as powerful as his blade, Tahu burns through any opponents who dare to face him. The golden element-increasing Mask of Fire lets him pull off extraordinary feats with heat and flame, sending huge bursts of fire out wherever he chooses and withstanding incredibly hot temperatures. Messing with this Toa is a very bad idea. LEWA, MASTER OF JUNGLE The joker of the team, Lewa flies high in the air with his simultaneous control of air and plantlife. His Mask of Jungle lets him pull off even greater feats, like flying without any strain of his abilities, or moving dead plants as if they were alive. Possibly the most powerful Toa, Lewa is someone you want fighting with you and not against you. KOPAKA, MASTER OF ICE With a soul as hard as the ice itself, Kopaka's no-nonsense attitude and powerful mind makes him one of the most intelligent Toa. With the Mask of Ice, his incredible powers borderline on impossible, letting him create extremely thin shields which are nearly impossible to break and create ice with extremely little effort. Despite his harsh appearance, he does enjoy a fun time as much as anyone else - he just doesn't show it. POHATU, MASTER OF STONE Pohatu is the scorpion-hating, rock-slinging, poorly enigmatic member of the Toa whose bitter remarks hide a very caring heart. His Mask of Stone increases his speed and his elemental ability, letting him chuck massive boulders with ease. His headstrong desire for combat sometimes betrays his ability to scheme, but he's an invaluable asset to anyone daring to brave the forgotten city of Okoto. GALI, MASTER OF WATER Gali, the only female member of the Toa, keeps up with the other members fine with her elemental ability and her solid wisdom. With her Mask of Water, her incredible abilities increase greatly, allowing her to conduct some form of electricity and blast through the water at breakneck speeds, all the while being able to breathe underwater and control powerful torrents that can blast through solid stone. ONUA, MASTER OF EARTH The friendliest member of the team, Onua can control massive amounts of soil which let him smash enemies aside - and so does his warhammer. With his Mask of Earth, he decimates anyone who tries to stop him, and buries them deep - very deep. His vast control of earth cause earthquakes and split the ground open whenever he hits it with his hammer. However, he's very fun at parties. MASK MAKER VS. SKULL GRINDER The legendary Ekimu has been awoken by the six Toa heroes. However, they must face and defeat the true threat to the land - Kulta, the Skull Grinder. The wise Ekimu, Mask Maker and brother of the villainous Makuta, used to rule the land in peace before he knocked himself and Makuta into a coma to prevent him from using the cursed Mask of Ultimate Power. Now he assists the Toa in their largest challenge yet. Kulta, the Skull Grinder, lead his army of empowered, undead corpses to take complete control of the ancient city and Ekimu's Forge, where he waits in an attempt to destroy the Mask of Creation and allow Makuta to take complete control. It will take the entire Toa team and Ekimu to best this villain. Selfie shot! THE BUILD All of the models except for Onua and Ekimu featured are built around a new system I designed to imitate the look of the 2015 sets while giving them much more flexibility and a lot more parts, making them more worth the price of 15 to 20 dollars. Each model has 22 points of articulation, minus Onua who has 23 and Ekimu who has 11. Kopaka would be the best to display this design, considering he is Elvis and all. If this entry wins the contest, I will be creating instructions for the design. Thanks for checking this topic, and I'd appreciate it if you left a comment on this topic, and then checked out fishers64's blog post where you can enter the contest yourself. ~Ghidora131
Endruv
All great, except Ekimu. He looks super fat. Quote Unity, Duty, Destiny-Toa Ouberry
HewkiiXMacku
The new building system is great, but, if I'm honest, it makes some of the Toa, Tahu in particular, look almost Chibi. If you could get a bit more bulk in the torso and legs, that would probably fix the issue.Otherwise, all are great, but Ekimu looks a bit, how I say, rotund. Or, you know, fat. BrickPharaoh
The shoulders make all of them look really awkward, as though they're locked into an indefinite shrug. The models also look too similar to their original counterparts. Good job on working more articulation into their frames though. Quote "Welcome to Valhalla, Warrior." Ghidora131
All great, except Ekimu. He looks super fat.Ekimu's frame was originally designed as a miner's uniform, complete with overalls and crystalline growths. It was the most convenient design to copy over. The new building system is great, but, if I'm honest, it makes some of the Toa, Tahu in particular, look almost Chibi. If you could get a bit more bulk in the torso and legs, that would probably fix the issue.Hm. I was iffy on bulking up Tahu's thighs, but the original was so hideously awful I decided not to attempt it. The models also look too similar to their original counterparts.That's... Kinda what I was going for.
The Invisible Handman
The proportions of each and every one of these models feels awkward. The broad shoulders of the normal toa sets makes these models feel skinny and gangly. W.A.M.W
If I were to say some criticism here (if that's ok with you), a lot of Toa and the Skull Grinder have very short arms. I don't know if it was shoulders or something else, I'm just not a big fan of the short arms.
Aho
Very interesting models you have here! I like the new system's flexibility a ton! Good job!
FrozenPancake_
Whether or not this wins the contest, I still want to see how these guys are put together! However, their arms are a bit short. Nonetheless, these are great designs! Good work, Ghidora. P.S. Are you considering making the other Skull Villains? Quote A big thank you to Toucan Sam for the Okotian name. I don't know if it was shoulders or something else, I'm just not a big fan of the short arms. All the Toa (except Onua, that rebel) have the same length of arms. So does grinder; his are just positioned weird. They're meant to be less set-accurate and more anatomically correct in that aspect, so that's probably why they appear shorter.
