The Invisible Handman
So now that it's relevance to the story has ended, do we have an inkling of why the Labyrinth of Control was created? We know ancient Okotoan's built it for a reason, you don't build giant shifting mazes without a good reason. We also know you need to unite with an elemental creature to get into the central chamber, I assume that's a feature it always had because I don't see the elemental creatures as able to modify magitech like that. One reason it was built could be because of a vision from the mask of time, but I feel like someone else could come up with a better theory. Hence I made this topic. Pohaturon
I might be missing something, but wasn't it made to hide the Mask of Control after Makuta took a hammer to the face? I guess the Protectors at the time assumed that the mask was too powerful for any non-Mask Maker to wield, or assumed it has something to do with Makuta going all power hungry. You know, maybe the mask turned him into a... Control freak. I'll show myself out. Quote Stone rocks Model Designer at The LEGO Group. Former contributor at New Elementary. Ford
I believe it was stated that the Labyrinth of Control was built by ancient Okotans under the instruction of the Elemental Creatures in order to protect the Mask of Control from outside forces aside from the Toa in the future. 1 Quote http://i.imgur.com/kbP5Svg.gifhttp://i.imgur.com/O8CcqC5.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/kbP5Svg.gif
The Invisible Handman
I might be missing something, but wasn't it made to hide the Mask of Control after Makuta took a hammer to the face? I believe it was stated that the Labyrinth of Control was built by ancient Okotans under the instruction of the Elemental Creatures in order to protect the Mask of Control from outside forces aside from the Toa in the future. No the labyrinth is described as having existed before Makuta's betrayal. It describes the labyrinth being built during the islands earliest times in the-hunter and also details that the creatures hid it there because they knew it was a good place to hide the mask. Edit: the-mask-of-control also describes the labyrinth as being built during a prophecy so it might have been a mask of time vision that brought about it's construction. Pohaturon
In that case, its purpose may be revealed later in the story. I could be G2's big GSR-esque reveal, for all we know. I'm hoping its kind of like a vault/prison, kind of like that hangar from Indiana Jones crossed with Alcatraz or something. Ancient Okotoans, mainly the Protectors and whatever race the Skull creatures belong to, locked away dangerous artefacts and individuals into the labyrinth. It's name may be derived from the fact that it channels the powers of the Mask of Control in order to pacify the tenants. Maybe Makuta was powerful enough to do this remotely?Anyhow, seeing as it re-arranges itself, memorizing the layout is impossible. Ergo, breaking in and stealing something, or escaping, are both nearly impossible (unless aided by the elemental creatures, who helped build the thing). Maybe there will be a story arc about how the Toa removing the Mask of Control woke up the prisoners? Since Makuta isn't powering it from a distance, and the mask isn't "plugged in" locally, the prisoners would attempt escape. This story arc not taking place in 2017 would be explained by the prisoners needing time to find a way out. This would allow for a more divers line of villain products, as they wouldn't need to follow a given theme (skeletons, beasts). This is just a theory though. Chances are the Labyrinth will have greater significance down the line. 1 Quote Stone rocks Model Designer at The LEGO Group. Former contributor at New Elementary. Electric Light Gunhaver
Maybe the Ancient Okotoans built it to send tribute beings from their thalassocracy into it to appease its housed monstrous beast.
FrozenPancake_
I could see it being like the Archives mixed with the Pit. That could be very interesting. Quote A big thank you to Toucan Sam for the Okotian name. [topic=][/topic] [ON HIATUS]
