Colibri is my first posted MOC. It is a Rahi native to Mata-Nui, specifically Le-Wahi. It is based on a hummingbird, with a vaguely quetzal-inspired tail. It is at least tangentially related to the Gukko, but much smaller and cannot be ridden.

I designed Colibri with a gear function in the wings that causes the upper green wing to move, as well as the lower green wing. The silver portion remains stationary. The upper and lower wings move independently from each other but are attached to the same reciprocating function. It contains no CCBS pieces except for ones with nearly identical G1 equivalents. It contains one of the Lego rubber bands to hold the mechanism together.

Thank you for viewing my MOC, and please vote for Colibri.

I think you need to have BBCC 73 in the title to compete in the contest. Anyway as far as first shown models go this is very good, but I don't think you've displayed this build well. Where are the photos of the underside? Can we get photo's of the different positions the wings could be in?

The tail is unique and the red and green go well enough together here, the gear as an eye is unique and am impressed with how you managed to work in angled gears into your gear funciton like that. Unfortunately I feel his sub par beak will limit how far he get's in the competition, you need to decorate the spot his beak connects to his head, it feels bare.

I love your Rahi it is so cute.

All it needs is a flower.

It looks like a hummingbird and a well designed one to.

But I agree with The Invisible Noob I like to see it's other positions.

Can the tail move? Do the wings flap?

Some more pictures can answer these questions.

The wings only flap with the reciprocating gear function. The tail is articulated at each Vahki head and at a ball joint near the beginning of the tail. Thanks for the feedback and I will definitely work on the photography. I was at least partly trying to get the pictures done before the deadline. The beak is the closest thing I could find to a real hummingbird beak but I agree that it is rather simple. Again, thank you for the feedback.

First off, welcome to BZPower! :)

Overall I think it feels like something that belongs in Le-Wahi, so I think you nailed the theme. I actually like how you used a plus rod for the beak--not only does it match the thinness of a hummingbird beak, but it reminds me of the early Rahi that didn't rely too much on specialized parts. I also like how the head is made of gears for the same reason. Nice use of the leaves and Ehlek spines for feathers too. And good job not only incorporating a gear function but making it so central to the MOC! One thing I may recommend is removing the silver blades from the wings. They seem sort of out of place among the red and green, and they're small enough I think you could remove them without sacrificing too much bulk.

Good job and good luck!
