Who performed the Piraka rap?

Lego probably kidnapped some music artists and forced them to make it against their will.

It wouldn't be the last time, either.

I have slept for so long. My dreams have been dark ones. But now I am awakened. Now the scattered elements of my being are rejoined. Now I am whole. And the Darkness can not stand before me.

The Piraka, obviously.

Here's an idea: take a selfie with a random person and declare you've found the performer. Once the photo goes viral the actual performer might come forward out of spite.

>implying anyone wants to be associated with the Piraka Rap

Was probably an enslaved Le-Matoran who was forced to do it

I found this.

The earliest use of the song was a music video on YouTube uploaded by Vrahno on June 22, 2006.

Found in Know your memes

So we have a clue at least.

Looking at Vrahno's channel, there are several fan films/animations so I presume they are just a fan who uploaded. ;)

Thanks for all the replies! the search for the missing Great Being continues, be sure to keep us all informed on what you find! :)

That I know of, Vrahno's just some fan. He's done some rather amusing artwork, but I'm fairly certain he just downloaded the video and uploaded to YouTube while it was still on Lego.com.

The full rap was actually discovered on a Toys "R" Us site from Hong Kong that had a bunch of Bionicle-related content on it, as reported in this BZP article from 2006: http://www.bzpower.com/story.php?ID=2703. Though the article doesn't mention the Piraka Rap in specific, I'm fairly certain that's where people (including me) got it from, since Lego's own website didn't have it, and I remember the Hong Kong TRU site being brought up a couple times both here on BZP and on other forums.

That's the farthest I can trace the origins of the Piraka Rap's audio file. The video isn't official though, that was made by me crudely editing the Piraka animations together in plain old Windows Movie Maker.

Okay I just asked this question on the musicians forum I vist from time to time.

Between the comments laughing at the song. They don't know who sung it but they guessed from the writing style it may have been written by Lego directly and performed by someone else.

Since the rap is so cringy clean but keeping a smooth flow. Tells it was originally written that way.

Yeah, I'd say this is the most likely possibility. Especially since we know Creeping in My Soul from a year later was written and performed by an in-house team at Advance/Lego (who would then later go on to form Cryoshell). The guy that sings Piraka Rap is also the voice for the commercial, so they're probably hired talent to try and make everything sound extra 'hip'.

believe victims. its actually not that hard, and youd look kind of bad if you were to, say, side with an abuser because theyre your friend

The performer also voiced the commercial, this should make him easier to track down I hope; thanks for sharing this information! :)

Advance ought to keep records of all the voice actors they've hired so it's entirely possible that they might provide the information unless the actor's specifically asked to be kept anonymous or the agency itself has a policy against such disclosure.

If anyone feels brave enough to approach Advance with a question as dumb as this, I say GO FOR IT.

Good luck, google has no useful info available. Our only other source might be the Artist Christian Faber who published the bionicle artworks he worked on. he just might know something about this. but its big stretch. Edited by necross hordika

  • 10 months later...

Back before the forum archive was lost (in fact, I think even while G1 was still running) someone claimed it was the same guy that narrated the pre-2006 commercials, using a different accent.

Sure...
