"Um... alright." The guard seemed torn between manning his post and investigating, but eventually settled on the latter. "Show me."

"I'm sorry to hear that, but she's fortunate to have survived." The Vortixx's polite tone was somewhat betrayed by her taunting smile, "I'm most grateful for the assistance that she and the rest of the guard have rendered."

GM IC: Those Two Guards - Tesara Guardhouse.

 

After cuffing Akkitu, searching him for weapons, and escorting him to the guardhouse, the guards herded him into an interrogation room, where an officer awaited them. After reading the guard's notes, the officer turned to Akkitu. "So, you're the pilot of the Jetrax? I suppose we owe you some thanks for managing what many of our guards could not, by destroying that Maxilos... of course, your methods leave much to be desired."

She hurried back to her ship and revved up the engines, watching anxiously to make sure the guard was following.

 

 

IC: Mirror - Tesara Guardhouse

 

"Funny you should say that, because the Captain suggested a way you could repay us. We'll need to know everything you did in the last 36 hours and everything you know about those robots. But for now, let's start with your name."

IC: Tekmo (Tesara Marketplace)

 

"Well... it would take around nine hours to get to the Black Spike Mountains and back... we'd probably spend some time surveying the area, so, I'd say about... twelve to thirteen hours?"

"If there is any truth to this,"Armani continued on, "then that is quite worrying. With things as they are, we need to be united. Spying, plotting... trust is needed in a functioning society, and these things damage it. Please, do pass on word if you hear anything more."

Matilda squinted at the sky briefly before looking back down. "If you're talking about protecting Garuda, look, she's a kid. I don't wanna show kids a dead body."

"I'm not the one who needs a lecture on trust," Tuma growled. He glanced back down the street, looking for someone to glower pointedly at, but by now, Hakkzan, Coyle, and their guards had already dispersed to resume their regular duties, "But if I learn anything new, I'll be sure to let someone know."

"I'm aware of the damage I caused. What do want from me?" The Ko-Matoran's voice showed no emotion, and he sat perfectly still in the chair. He stared at the guard standing in front of him.

"Down below the city!" Garuda called back as she took off. "Don't worry, I'll tell my Zesk friends you're okay!"

 

 

IC: Mirror - Tesara Guardhouse

 

"Good," Mirror said flatly. "Now, what brings you to Tesara?"

Paju shrugged. "Sounds good to me, honestly I usually just have to go with what I'm being offered, I've never had to charge someone before."

"I see. And you," he turns to Tarutu. "You've probably been questioned before about this, but you were present at the time of the attack, yes?"

IC: Vrokdann - New Atero [Parking Lot]

 

"OKAY THEN! IN THAT CASE I'M DONE HERE, LET'S GO!!" Vrokdann yelled back. This is the moment where any decent ship owner would bid farewell to their beloved vessel, since one never knows when they will see it again, if ever. Vrokdann wouldn't describe herself as a ship owner if she had a choice. "Cumbersome siege device" would fit her better.

-You're getting us kicked out of that ship in a week tops. I hope we're over the toxic water when that happens.-

"What? You wanna swim with the mutants?"

-...let's just get on the ship, shall we?-

  The tall blue being who she now worked for was drinking from his usual cylinder of water while she walked his way, so her sudden appearance in front of him was unexpected to say the least. After some seconds, they headed for his airship, the Aquarium.

Fully armed and at least mildly aware of her situation, Vrokdann was now on the way to becoming a working member of society. This would be difficult, but there was no other way she could find her destiny.

IC: Akkitu- Interrogation Room

"I live here."

OOC: The three interrogations are happening in different rooms. Mirror isn't talking to Akkitu.

IC: Akkitu- Interrogation
"I'm aware of the damage I caused. What do want from me?" The Ko-Matoran's voice showed no emotion, and he sat perfectly still in the chair. He stared at the guard standing in front of him.

 
GM IC: Officer - Tesara Guardhouse.
 
The Officer glowered at Akkitu for a moment, glanced at the notes the other guards had provided, then looked back to Akkitu, "You've admitted to what you did. You say you're aware of the damage you caused... and yet you have the gall to ask why you're here?"
 
He folded his arms, clearly unimpressed with Akkitu's arrogant attitude, "You must see yourself as some kind of big hero. You did what the guards didn't. You took down the bad guy. We should be thanking you, despite the damage you caused. Is that what you think, citizen? Because that's the impression I'm getting." 
 

IC: Garuda - Tesara
 
"Down below the city!" Garuda called back as she took off. "Don't worry, I'll tell my Zesk friends you're okay!"

 
GM IC: Poked Guard - Tesara Outskirts.
 
The guard, who could not fly, and knew better than to abandon his usual beat by fetching his aircraft to chase leads on his own, dashed back into the city to inform a ranking officer, who dispatched an airship towards the plateau base. 
 
A few minutes later, the airship came in to land on the sands below, having spotted the group gathered near the body.

"Good," Mirror said flatly. "Now, what brings you to Tesara?"

 

GM IC: Silvana - Tesara Guardhouse. 

 

"I came here for the markets. A gal's gotta spend her earnings somewhere."

IC: Waveahk (The Aquarium, New Atero Parking Sector)

 

Aboard the airship, there was, truthfully, no room for the Stolara. The cargo hold was full of tanks of water, as were the three Cargo Haulers. The only other room on-board that might have enough room was the freezer, and Waveahk expressly forbade Vrokdann from ever going inside there during her orientation.

 

When that was over, they stopped at Waveahk's 'office', aka: the bridge. Numerous consoles overlooked a large window to the outside, though any chance of a decent view was ruined by the swarm of other vehicles parked nearby. On the left wall, there was a large cupboard of bottles and glasses next to a cold water tap, which Waveahk used to get a refill.

 

Then, Waveahk introduced his latest employee to her quarters. The room seemed lived in, but there were no indications of whoever it was who did live in here.

 

"You get comfortable in here," he said, though clearly not actually caring if she was comfortable or not. "I have to inform the authorities that I'm leaving, and then I have to pack up my miraculously-undamaged stall." Waveahk slams the door shut before Vrokdann could get a word in.

"Thank you, Tuma." She managed something close to her famous wide grin. "And your cooperation is very much appreciated in this matter! Let's hope this will not become a trend."

She waved the airship down, grunting at the Zesk to scatter. There was no meal to be had here, not one that would be worth being shot at by guardsmen.

"No, sir. I thought you going to question me, and I wanted to know why you weren't."

Garuda set down just ahead of the airship and ran straight for her adopted sister. “Are you alright? I got them as fast as I could!”

 

 

IC: Mirror - Tesara Guardhouse

 

"Is that all? Were you contacted by anyone prior to or following your arrival? Any information you have will only help you.”

IC: Akkitu- Interrogation

"What do you mean?"

OOC: Laval, like Nato said last time, Akkitu is not in the same room as Mirror. You two are in different rooms, taking part in two separate interrogations.

 

IC: Matilda - Hanging Out With A Dead Guy And A Buggo

 

"You did great, Rudy," Matilda said with a smile, catching Garuda in her arms to prevent her seeing the body. "You've been so brave today, kiddo. I'm proud."

IC: Armani - Talking to Tuma

"Indeed." Tuma pulled his sword from the ground, and started to turn away, "If there's nothing more you want of me, I have other matters to attend to."

"No, sir. I thought you going to question me, and I wanted to know why you weren't."

 

GM IC: Officer - Tesara Guardhouse.

 

"Because you've already confessed. There's no need to question you. I'm waiting to see if you have anything to say for yourself in way of defence or explanation for why you chose to do what you did." 

 

IC: Mirror - Tesara Guardhouse

 

"Is that all? Were you contacted by anyone prior to or following your arrival? Any information you have will only help you.”

 

GM IC: Silvana - Tesara Guardhouse.

 

"Not recently, no. I came to the markets, saw the big guys following me, and informed your captain." She paused, seeming hesitant to continue, "But if you say the attackers were Maxilos robots... I might know who's behind it..."

 

IC: Matilda - Hey An Airship

 

She waved the airship down, grunting at the Zesk to scatter. There was no meal to be had here, not one that would be worth being shot at by guardsmen.

 

GM IC: Guards - Tesara Outskirts.

 

The Zesk dispersed as the airship landed. A team of guards emerged from the aircraft and approached where the group were standing, "We got a report about someone finding a dead body down here?"

Garuda wrapped her arms around Tilly, not really interested in trying to see past her.

 

 

IC: Mirror - Tesara Guardhouse (Silvana Interrogation)

 

In spite of himself, he leaned in. “Who?”

"Let's just say I've done some jobs for Xaril of Fe in the past. I imagine this attack is just him trying to tie up loose ends."

IC: Vrokdann - The Aquarium [New Atero - Parking Lot/Sector/whatever]

 

 Vrokdann recieved a thorough tour of the Aquarium, the very wet airship she would indefinitely call her home from now on. If only she'd paid attention... All she got was that there's a lot of water, what her quarters were, and something about the freezer.

 All the while she'd been on the murmur setting with "Drendakk", that cursed personification living inside her mind.

"Do you like it there, Drendakk? Because I hate it here. It smells like a swamp full or squids or something."

-It's okay, I guess. Bit of a mess. Whoever lived here left their mark...-

"Yeah, 'lived'. If they want it back, too bad for them. Good thing I never slip because boy is this place slippery. Betcha the blue guy slips daily."

-Yeah, probably. Now, what did he say about the freezer again?-

"I don't know, how about we go see it?"

 That was a dangerous idea,

-...nah, it's probably not touching it or something. Why would he tell us about it otherwise?-

"So we're well-informed about the ship's features?"

-If I were him, I'd rather not tell us anything at all...-

 Vrokdann tried the bed. It was hard and cold, just as she liked it.

"We'll get used to this someday. I'm pretty sure about that. And just think of all the money we'll have!"

 Money... now that was a word she hadn't come across in a while.

-...money?-

"Yeah, that's what jobs give, right?"

-Yes, if they give it to you...-

"..."

-...he never talked about money.-

"...wait, you're right! We're gonna hunt some mutants for life and receive nothing in exchange! Now that's interesting!"

-Wow, you're taking it that well?-

"OF COURSE NOT, YOU FOOL! It's terrible! But how am I gonna tell him to pay me? Isn't he keeping us from getting arrested and all?"

-Wait, where did he go?-

Vrokdann just noticed Waveahk wasn't there.

"Oh."

IC: Taurek - Explaining the situation

 

I nodded, still trying to stop myself from grinning.

"This crazy guy attacks me in the street because I was at the scene of the attacks, I checked on one of the survivors because I figured it might have been someone I knew. It wasn't. So I left, and he attacks me demanding to know why I was there!" He explains, pointing at Tacitus.

"Very well. As you were, citizen!"

 

Well. This was a strange turn of events. She could go question the spies, though there seemed little point since the mystery was solved.

 

Or so it seemed. Something about this didn't add up. Who were these informants? People trying to do a good deed, or something else entirely? And what of the rumour itself? Tuma did have a rather good point about the truth in rumours. She didn't quite believe he was part of this (though she wasn't ready to rule out the possibility entirely), but that didn't mean there was no possibility of a rebellion at all.

IC: Matilda - With The Dead Body

 

Matilda nodded to the guard, gently patting the back of Garuda's head. "It was buried here. Their mask was shattered, some pieces were in their fist. I removed them, because I was worried they'd fall out. But then I saw there were more..."

IC: Waveahk (New Atero, various)

 

Before packing up the stall, Waveahk decided to check on the notice board. His newest 'employee' wasn't going anywhere, after all. There was the invitation to Tesara, which took center stage of course, there were wanted posters for various missing people or criminals, miscellaneous information and advertisements.

 

But then, there was something unexpected. Two particularly mysterious messages. The first concerning the enigmatic Arena, and the second that spoke of a diving bell, somewhere near Aqua Magna. A trap? A hoax? These were genuine possibilities. Perhaps worth investigating, if only for the publicity, and thus, potential customers.

 

Waveahk would return to the Aquarium with the stall being pushed along tiny wheels. Monsters to hunt, a mystery to solve, an unruly Skakdi, and... one other thing. Waveahk checked to make sure that the freezer door was still locked. Today would be a fun day.

 

With the push of a button, pulleys shifted and shunted Levitation Kanoka into the correct places, and the soggy airship soon rose up into the sky, followed by three slightly smaller duplicates - the cargo haulers. Glancing through the bridge's window, Waveahk made out the shape of Commander Coyle's latest vanity project: the Indomitable, floating in the sky, a symbol of the iron-clad law. Waveahk liked the law, but only when it was on his side of the argument.

 

He wondered if he should inform Vrokdann they had just taken off. No, she was probably intelligent enough to realize it on her own. Probably.

IC: Tarutu - Tesara Marketplace

 

Did she feel, perhaps, a little bad about her rudeness? The guard was only doing his job, and if that included the unenviable business of recruiting civilians for a mission with no official resources behind him, then... she pitied more than resented him for it. Still, the Ga-Matoran's expression didn't soften any as she stood back, letting Tekmo and Paju negotiate.

 

Again, it was none of her business... so this time, she didn't butt in.

 

At least, not until the guard directly turned to her. Tarutu supposed she shouldn't be surprised; nonetheless, after she'd clammed up after her bout of sarcasm, she hadn't expected to become a part of the conversation again.

 

"That's right."

 

Her hostile tone from before was markedly absent. There was no point getting any further on the guard's bad side, she reckoned; particularly when he'd done nothing more to earn her ire. Still, she shot a questioning look in his direction. If this was going where she thought it might be... well, she wasn't sure Tekmo stood to gain much from it. But she had no reason to not answer his questions evenly.

 

"I saw the explosions, and ran over to do my bit to help. Despite what you may have heard, not all Matoran race for cover as soon as the shooting starts. Some of us -" she indicated Paju as well as herself in this "- are good at handling ourselves."

"I see." The guard turned to Tacitus, "Do you have anything to say for yourself?"

 

IC: Armani - Bye Tuma

 

"Very well. As you were, citizen!"

 

GM IC: Tuma - Residential District, New Atero.

 

Without a further word, the Skrall lumbered away, back towards his house.

 

IC: Matilda - With The Dead Body

 

Matilda nodded to the guard, gently patting the back of Garuda's head. "It was buried here. Their mask was shattered, some pieces were in their fist. I removed them, because I was worried they'd fall out. But then I saw there were more..."

"I see." The lead guard frowned thoughtfully at the corpse, "Looks like it's been here for a few days at least, so it probably isn't related to this morning's attack. Thanks for bringing this to our attention."

"A little. The person he claims to have thought he recognised was a vortixx. Someone I immediately after heard was at the center of the market attacks. From your captain of the guard."

 

IC: Drukann - Capstone Bar

 

"Other ways?" Drukann strokes his chin thoughtfully, before Kastir asks about the arena. "Well, actually, the Arena is probably the safest place in the wasteland barring the settlements. Other than the usual suspects you'll encounter out there, I'm not really aware of anything specific to the Arena itself... then again, if what I'm trying to do works, that might change, and I've got nothing on what we'll face then."

IC: Tekmo (Tesara Marketplace)

 

"I have heard no such things." He had, of course, but in Tekmo's mind, lies were only meaningful if they had a negative effect.

 

"Well then, I'm off to search for other volunteers." Placing unusual stress on that last word, he turned away from Tarutu to Paju. "I'm off to go digging for other participants, in the meantime, consider yourself... considered for the job." Tekmo spins around on his foot, walking toward the other direction.

GM IC: Officer - Tesara Guardhouse.

 

"At the risk of sounding racist, Vortixx do all kind of look and dress the same." The officer mused, "Frankly, it's no excuse to go attacking a stranger in the street instead of informing any one of the many, many guards that were on the scene."

IC: Tacitus - Tesaran Guardhouse

 

Tacitus shrugs. "Guess I'm not used to how they do it around here."

"No problem. He looks kinda familiar, you know. I think from some posters I saw hanging up?"

She decided to investigate the scene, first and foremost. It was likely nothing would come of it, but she did like to be thorough. She scanned the area, seeing if anyone of interest remained at the scene.

"Well, you're about to learn plenty... during your upcoming tenure in our cell block."

Armani likely wouldn't see much, aside from a few lingering Skrall shooting her dirty looks.

OOC: Nato, wait. The reason I took so long was because I was trying to think of how to word stuff. Akkitu's next comment takes place right before the Officer says this.

"Hrm." Tacitus simply grunted neutrally. It didn't seem like this bothered him too much.

IC: Vrokdann - The Aquarium [New Atero but not for long]

 

  Vrokdann was sitting in her new quarters, debating with "Drendakk" about whether this new venture of her had to be remunerated. The idea was clear: of course she'd deserve payment someday. And someday, she'd have to ask for it.

-So in conclusion, after the first trip--

"The second trip, Drendakk. We have to build some trust first."

-Right, after the second trip, we're going to ask him. And only if both trips turn out well. Deal?-

"Deal. Let's go out. Do you think he's back already?"

 A steady rumble offered an answer before she got to the door.

"What? Are we moving? We're moving!"

-Hopefully upwards!-

 Unfortunately, she didn't get the correct answer.

"Wait. What if somebody stole the ship, like I stole mine?"

-Then maybe we could GO OUT AND KICK THEIR PLATES!-

"Are you sure? I don't want any trouble, Drendakk."

-Come on, girl! Our future's at risk here!-

"What future? How would getting kidnapped ruin our current prospects which are barely any?"

-GO OUT AND SAVE YOUR LIFE BEFORE I MAKE YOU!-

 Vrokdann pushed through the door without a second thought. She didn't really want to do it, but as she rushed to the bridge, it just seemed right to do so.

"GRAAAAHH!! YOU THOUGHT THIS SHIP WAS FREE, HUH?! WELL GUESS WHAT?! IT STILL HAS AN OWNER!! ONE WHO JUST HAPPENS TO HAVE ME!! SO LEAVE IT ALONE,YOU-"

 She stopped in full force as she saw it was just Waveahk, the ship's rightful owner, starting up the ship.

-Oh. Well, my bad.-

"Whoa! Sorry boss, I thought somebody was stealing the ship for a second." she said, trying to dissimulate her aiming at him with the weapon she had previously delayed their departure to retrieve, and all that yelling on her way there.

"...so, we're off to Aqua Magna, huh?"

IC: Tacitus - Tacitus Guardhouse

"Hrm." Tacitus simply grunted neutrally. It didn't seem like this bothered him too much.

 

GM IC: Officer - Tacitus Guardhouse?

 

"Well, that's not the usual response we get." The guard shrugged, then turned to Taurek, "Unless there's anything else you want to say to us or your attacker, I suppose you're free to go."

 

IC: Akkitu- Go to Jail

"What I have to say for myself is this: I was trying to destroy the Maxilos that was attacking. I had no idea that I would make things worse."

 

GM IC: Other Officer - Tesara Guardhouse.

 

"I suppose in that regard you succeeded in your intention." The officer muttered, "Which leaves me in a bit of a dilemma. Tesara is no place for vigilante justice. Your actions damaged public and personal property, and people were hurt because of it. But if you hadn't destroyed that Maxilos when you did, more people could have been hurt, or worse." 

 

He tapped his fingertips on the desk before him, brow furrowed in thought, "How does community service sound as a punishment?"
