IC: Irnakk, Great Spirit of Nightmares | Realm of Nightmares

Opal looked back for aid, and Irnakk took pity on his new toy.

“There now, you have much to bring back to me. Look -- I see a group of weary travelers resting in the lands of fire and ash.” Irnakk waved his hands and revealed a space where a strange cube-like vehicle was parked amidst the falling ash from the volcano. “They will make a nice addition, and are long overdue.”

In the Time Between Time a flickering in the air began to occur about a hundred paces from The Cube. Doubtless, someone would notice. It looked like the dark shadow of a lightning strike, but suspended in time, and through it came a sense of dread.

IC: Nuju | Kini-Nui

"Uh, are you doing that? If so, could you kindly stop," asked Nuju politely, drawing Sidra's attention momentarily away from the eavesdroppers and back to the object in her hand. It was glowing with a soft light from the inside, the light threatening to burst out through the ridges of the malleable object. Sidra felt the Krom Sphere shift in her hands without her command, its shape repeatedly forming in a single pattern of three: a sphere, a triangular prism, a hexagonal prism...

IC: Vashni - Ko-Pou -

Ehlek...she overheard his name on the radio, just as she was thinking about that monster naturally. It wasn't someone that would be brought up in casual conversation, especially over the radio of all things. The warlord was up to something. She stood up and followed Triage towards the radio shack.

"What was that about Ehlek?" Vashni said with a tone far more serious than she usually gave.

Whatever his was up to, she was going to stop him for good this time. Even if it costed her life.

IC: Varian - League settlement -

In the distance, Aurax would see an exo-toa of all things slowly making his way towards him in the distance. How odd.

IC: Opal - Realm of Nightmares

Bowing her head and flattening her form against the ground in a gesture of gratitude and deference, Opal turned away from Irnakk and scurried off in search of the site he'd indicated.

IC: Knichou & Taku Crew, Ko-Pou

As Triage and Vashni walked towards the communications station of the outpost, above the horizon they could spy two stars growing brighter than the others surrounding them in the night sky. The binary stars twinkled through one of the many patches of fog over the newfound channel. It was a curious sight, but there were far more important matters at hand. After the pair had entered, without fanfare, the specks of light fully pierced the fog, with the husk of the Taku following soon after. The headlights began to supplement the moonlight and make the island of Ko-Pou much easier to see as the airship began its final approach.

~~~
On 5/14/2021 at 7:22 PM, Tarn said:
IC: Nale Vella - The Taku (Bridge)
"Right," Nale said in response to Knichou's correction and NU's honest assessment, letting out a long sigh. "Just...a lot happening."
The Fa-Toa rested her head in her hands. A meeting, repairs, now this. "Didn't come here expecting a rescue mission, but that's the Taku. Always something new on the table."
Knichou frowned as he felt Nale retreat at the thought of all their problems. That was what he wanted to - nay, what he had done not long before. It didn't help much at the time. The young Toa wanted to be stronger, to be the leader that their crew could look to for sustaining their courage... but no posturing or speech (Especially one of Knichou's speeches) could or should fool his partner into a sense of security. The danger kept them sharp, alive, useful. He knew as much (Who was he kidding, likely even less) about what to do in these unprecedented times as she did. There was only so much either could do, and even with Knichou's remarkable powers, he was split over his responsibility to use it for good and to keep himself balanced. The Vahki incident didn't calm his mind on the matter, either.
They both knew the dangerous situation would not go away with them not acknowledging it. Their distinct lives were proof that running from their mistakes merely delayed their inevitable resolution. Despite this, Knichou still faintly felt the tugging of his internals as they whispered to sail away, let the problems of others be theirs, to fend for himself once again as he always had. His heartlight dispelled all such doubts, and his mind justified his what his heartlight's irrational yearnings chose afterwards.
As Nale continued to steady herself, Knichou stepped forwards to offer his willpower and trust in a gesture that could bolster her resolve, and his as well in the process. Not that she needed him for either.
The Nynran put hand on her right shoulder and looked to where her optics would be behind her hands.
"I know. I'm feeling it too. But every burden we carry is one less for our peo-"
Everyone on the ship felt the lurch as the one good engine shot into reverse with an utter lack of grace to slow the airship to a halt. The harsh jolt came without warning, and Knichou was entirely unprepared for such an interruption. His hand slipped, grip too weak, too late to tighten for any stability. If one had looked at the engineer, they would see a terrified shock plastered across his face. Mouth ajar, unable to form words. Optics blazing.
He felt he was going down, and the tired Toa's mind honed in on a singular focus for that brief moment as his self preservation instincts kicked in with full force. He didn't have time to wonder if it was himself he was preserving. His thoughts screamed his reality.
CLOTH! SEWN! DIKAPI! CLIPPED! COLLECTED! STUFFED! CLOTH! SEWN! DIKAPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Commander's hit the floor in an explosion of feathers. The newly materialized pillow's eruption soon settled on the deck, however the Toa continued to groan and writhe slightly as his nerves all echoed a screaming numbness that would soon resolve itself. His now-padded armor and instincts had protected him from any real harm, but the Nynran was still frightened by the loss of control. At the whims of gravity, danger lurked.
"Berys... WHAT THE -" BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The blaring foghorn resounded throughout the islet. The Taku was here.
It limped a few meters above the ground, with its front landing gear nearly touching the ground. The rear landing gear was touching the ground... just.. the ground somewhere over Kini-Nui's mountainside. Light leaked from the massive hole where the cargo bay doors used to be, and the strain of the overworked levitation engines could be heard as they continued to clang levitation Kanoka at a higher rate than normal to keep the ship afloat. Water continued to drip from the hull in too many places to count.
~~~

The front hull plating parted, and soon afterwards, the ramp lowered. An Onu-Matoran clung to the lever, waiting for the obstruction to clear so she could see the surroundings.

Land, at last.

Arnex was overjoyed to see it, and nearly leapt up at knowing that she had reached dry earth again.

It had been quite the day.

IC: Cravious - Skakdi of Lightning, Mind Reading and Quick Healing

Location - Outside the Fire Ruins

With - Whira

Cravious tapped his finger on his arm as he waited for Whira to mull over her answer. It felt like she was taking her own sweet time to answer. Just how complex of a subject was that lunatic Yumiwak? Certainly not enough to warrant a response this long in the making.

He turned his head and did a quick check of the volcano using his X-Ray Vision. He was about to zoom in when suddenly a savage, flickering crack in reality opened like a tear of void and Cravious’ stomach dropped.

He moved without thinking, grabbing his gear without looking. His mind raced with a hundred little details, weighing the costs and values, do’s and don’t’s. Should he bring his ACR? What about the forge? Could the Cube outrace it? How had the Ruins stood for so long with so many rite-born over the years? Should he send out Clash as a distraction?

In the end the only thing that would be irreplaceable and cost him the most would be his hirelings. His voice barked to everyone and no one, harsh and commanding, not at all like Whira had ever heard from him yet in their travels together, "ZIVON! ONE HUNDRED PACES NORTHWEST! ZIGGURAT, NOW!

Within twenty seconds of mad, yet practiced, scrambling, all five Skakdi were outside the Cube, doors left open and gear half strapped on. Various tools from what they had just been working on were in their hands. The garage ramp was in the process of being lowered for the Nui-Jaga but otherwise the crew had officially abandoned the vehicle. Cravious’ pride almost didn’t let him leave his Cube’s side, the vehicle he had worked so hard on to make impervious to Skakdi attacks, but his common sense told him he couldn’t make much money if he was dead.

Cravious didn’t even look to see if Whira followed as he glanced towards the rift in the fabric of reality. It gave him a sense of dread, exactly like he had felt with Irnakk. Thankfully, they had been parked immediately outside the Fire Ruins, a decision he much appreciated now as he moved to safety. His legs pumped, servos whirring and gears catching as he maximized his speed above his normal limit. Though his lungs started to burn from the sudden and sustained intensity, he didn’t stop until he sensed that now familiar electric tingle that unknowingly took him out of the Time Between Time and into some other, undefined Suva space. Moments later, his four hirelings followed.

Crash was panting, trying to load his Zamor Launcher with unsteady hands. Sagacious was counting something in her head, frowning and starting over, her Lightning Gun in her hands but not raised. Asperity floated above the doorway, Buzz Saw and Zamor Launcher both at the ready. She looked eager. And Voracious was cursing their luck, a welding helmet that enhanced his Laser Vision still on his head as he looked about their new location. Preceptor not being there momentarily felt weird to Cravious before he stuffed the emotions away.

The seconds ticked away almost audibly. The tension in the air was so thick Cravious almost had to use his X-Ray Vision just to see. And while he knew it was futile, his Seismic Pickaxe and Zamor Launcher were raised and aimed at the long hallway entrance. There was nowhere else to go if the Zivon was able to follow them here. Not even his new Quick Healing would be able to save him.

Cravious worked his jaw. He had gained so much power only to now be locked away in some old ruin? Yumiwak deserved to be taught a lesson. No, better yet, it now made logical sense that he would make more money if Yumiwak was dead. He just needed to get Whira strong enough to kill rite-born.

That Zivon of their own suddenly didn’t seem like a bad idea.

This turned out way longer than anticipated. Sorilax and Viltia will have to come later.

IC: Niidak (Ko-Pou)

Shortly after entering the outpost, Niidak had found a metal chair lying around, seemingly unused. As most of the place was deserted anyways, she claimed it for herself and sat down on it, taking a rest while waiting for news to arrive from Kini-Koro. Not that she cared much about the place, but losing potential customers was always a bad thing.

As she was relaxing, leaning against a wall on the chair, she could see the few occupants of the outpost running around. She did see a few familiar faces she had seen in the wastes before, but they appeared to be busy. It was a good enough excuse to not get up from the chair.

Then an airship made a landing that could best be described as a narrowly avoided crash landing. She could’be sworn she had seen the same ship in Kini-Koro a while ago, albeit in a much better condition. Perhaps it had come from there? Maybe this was the best way to find out if anyone was still alive at Kini-Koro.

Reluctantly, she got up from the chair and approached the airship. As she went to it, she saw how the sea levels outside the outpost had continued to rise while she had taken a rest, to the point where they were now separated from the mainland. At least her hoverbike could, well, hover, so it wasn’t much of an issue for her.

”Hey there, stranger, are you coming from Kini-Koro? The condition of your airship suggests it does,” she shouted to the matoran in the ship she could see.

@BULiK i’m assuming Arnex is visible from the ground as the ramp is opened

IC: Arnex, Ko-Pou, The Taku, Entrance Ramp

Arnex noticed a Vortixx approach, the glowing purple eyes slowly getting closer until the faint moonlit silhouette of the Xian gave way to the Taku's headlights. This wasn't a Vortixx that the Onu-Matoran remembered from anywhere, but given she was approaching from the outpost ahead of the Taku, it probably was one of the refugees stationed there. As Niidak spoke, Arnex strolled down the entrance ramp until she was at the very edge, which was still floating a few feet above the ground. From that height, the matoran was standing above the vortixx, looking down on her. So this is what Toa feel like...

The Onu-Matoran sat down, legs dangling off the ramp, slowly kicking back and forth from the excitement of the thrill of battle dying down and the anticipation of finally reaching solid earth. Arnex was a warehouse worker at heart, not a thrillseeker, and despite growing used to being in the air, there were still some nerves that could only be relieved by not being on the ship, especially after having now survived three battles aboard it. The Taku had a strange streak of good and bad luck, and she always wondered when they set off if this expedition would be her turn to get Exuze'd.

From her new perch, Arnex was at eye level with the Vortixx, a stranger turned confidant as a test - could anyone believe what they had just seen and done?

"Yup... you already hear about the giant monsters there, huh? We were the scouting party for the first one. Had a storm all around it, couldn't see until it got too close... and well, the result speaks for itself."

The crewwoman gave a sigh, adding an uneasy shrug as well.

"The NUVA are dealing with it. We gave it a full broadside but none of our heavy artillery gave it a scratch! It felt like only the NUVA and their big robots could hurt it for some reason. They're dealing with it now. Hopefully..."

Arnex's gaze had drifted downwards to the rocks just a meter or so below her feet. After a moment, her head lifted to make eye contact with Niidak again.

"What's going on here, stranger?"

IC: Niidak (Ko-Pou)

There was not just one, but multiple monsters at Kini-Koro? This island truly was Karzahni, full of beasts and now sinking into the sea. At this rate, all the settlements would be gone soon. But perhaps there was still some hope, as cynical as she was about the future.

”I thought there was only one monster. And NUVA? What are those? I do know about big robots, I recently saw one...” Perhaps Sidra was one of them, which would explain some things. She had seen the size and felt the powers of the mech, which may be great enough to deal with any threats to the settlements.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the matoran’s question. ”Oh, well most of the outpost has been emptied of guards, and now it seems to be slowly sinking as the sea levels keep rising. Nothing out of the ordinary on this Mata-Nui-forsaken island, really.” She wondered if those giant robots could do anything about the vast ocean. Probably not.

IC: Arnex, Ko-Pou, The Taku, Entrance Ramp

"We only thought there was one monster too. After we got hit we heard over the radio that the there was another one that had snuck around in the city already. Given our damage and the fact that our guns didn't hurt the first monster, our captain and commander probably decided to head here for repairs instead of going after a monster we couldn't hurt. If people from Kini-Koro aren't here, they probably evacuated to Tobduk-Koro already."

The Onu-Matoran sighed and gave a shrug. She pondered about Niidak's last statement - did the guards leave to help the evacuation? How long has the sinking been known about? It was still a shock to Arnex how the island had changed from the last time the Taku flew out of the valley.

"Anyways, what were you saying... right, NUVA are Toa with extra powers who drive giant robots, or something. It's a bit above my pay grade, but that's the gist of it. If you saw a hundred foot tall robot, that's probably one of them. At least... I hope it's them and not some new surprise this island throws at us. Don't know what they'd be doing out here when the fight is over in Kini-Nui, but who knows, I did only see two of them fighting the big guy..."

IC, Whira: Ruins of Fire

Whira looked uncomfortably back at the entrance to the ruins. "Cravious," she said, "we need to get inside Irnakk's Tooth to perform the Rite of the Zivon. I do not think that the Zivon pursuing us will leave us alone even if we sit and wait inside this temple."

IC, Aurax: Metru-Koro Ruins

IC: Opal - Realm of Nightmares /Ruins of Fire

After a few minutes, Opal reached the area that Irnakk had indicated. Across the veil, she could see a lonely structure wreathed in the drifting ash, a pyramid perched amidst an ocean of blackened trees, with a strange squarish vehicle parked before it.

But despite this clearly being the place Irnakk had showed her, she could see no one nearby. And the moment she tried to step across the veil between planes, she found herself assailed by that same familiar need to flee. It felt so strong here, as if this structure was somehow the source...

She recoiled from the feeling and retreated back into the Realm of Nightmares, contemplating the possibilities. Her prey had to be here, somewhere. Irnakk would not have deceived her. She could glimpse minuscule footprints in the ash leading up to the ziggurat, which suggested they were likely hiding within the structure itself, and she lacked the means to reach within it... so she had to find a way to force them out... which was difficult, given that every time she entered the Time Between Time she was struck with an inexplicable instinct to flee.

Unless... they couldn't hide if there was nothing for them to hide in.

Opal circled around to the rear of the structure, and prepared to phase back across the veil. She coiled her legs to spring, and leaped at the structure - not particularly high, relative to her body size, but high enough - drifting between dimensions as she jumped so that as she came down, all of her immense weight and strength would crash down atop the pyramid her prey were sheltered within.

IC: Onaku - Kini-Nui

Onaku approached the two beings standing near the portal, his hands raised up before his shoulders in a placating gesture. "I didn't come here to drop any eaves, though what I've overheard is starting to match some newfound suspicions I'm having about the old wizard. Were I able, I'd want to help find Stannis myself and question him as to his intentions with these stones, but my current lack of powers means I'd probably be little more than a burden. But these stones you speak of, they come from beyond that p-?" Onaku's question was cut off, his finger raised to gesture the portal before his attention was quickly pulled to the object in Sidra's hand upon Nuju pointing it out. "... Has that thing ever behaved like this before?"

IC Katrin Nuva - Hospital:

The Toa of Fire sat up.

"That went well!" She said cheerily.

She stretched out. It was strange, it hadn't been all that long, and yet she felt as if it had been ages, and she felt far better than she should have. Maybe her new powers had an effect on her body's ability to heal? that seemed as likely as anything else, so she went with it.

She looked over at Jutori.

"Should we try again?"

IC: Niidak (Ko-Pou)

Niidak sensed an opportunity to make a profit and grinned. "Repairs, eh? Well, as a Vortixx I know a thing or two about fixing things. Maybe I can help with that, for a small fee. Though looking at your ship, it's plenty of work so you should probably find others to help with it, too."

"As for the one giant robot I saw, well, they teleported to the valley of Kini-Koro as far as I know. Perhaps they went there to fight with the beasts." Sidra had said she needed to talk with a ghost, but Niidak didn't know what she meant by that, so she didn't bother mentioning it to the matoran. They probably wouldn't get it either.

On 5/14/2021 at 5:25 PM, Gecko Greavesy said:

[Whisper] extended out of her tendrils and gently placed her hand upon the surface of the obelisk, beginning to channel shadow energy into the object to see if it reacted. If this place had been made by an Aspect, as the previous door had been, perhaps it would respond to the power of one.

IE Temple | Kumu

Whisper had rationales that since this temple was made for and in honor of another Aspect of Makuta that the energies inside would respond to the influence of another. Her tendril of a hand touched the oily, black stone and she could feel it pulsing with some form of energy inside but could not discern the nature of it, and in a test of its nature she began to channel her Shadow elemental powers into the monument.

The monolith did not react to the shadow abilities of the younger Aspect, but something else stirred. In a barrage, she felt the psychic currents in the air ripple around her mind like invisible lightning bolts, coursing through and then vanishing and leaving echoes of horror and chaos in their wakes. The sensation had muffled everything else in a torrent of white noise that turned everything else into a din, and in the sound-muffling chamber the outsiders were in the barrage felt thunderous in Whisper's mind. Barely discernible in the wash of energy were faint whispers speaking directly to... her.

Stannis stood by idly, observing Whisper with a mixture of concern and astonishment. He, too, felt the ripples of energy but only the blank distortion—the spirits did not speak to any other save Whisper—and turned his attention from his fellow kindred to the obelisk and then again to the chamber they were in. "This is a place of arcane worship," he said once Whisper seemed to come to once more. "Look at the glyphs on the monument—they must indicate how prayer is conducted."

Upon some closer inspection on the block of inky stone that rose up high he could just barely discern inscriptions of faith and destruction. In it, people could be seen praying to a god of some kind, and all manner of things were seen being sacrificed on overturned bowls to the god's honor. Blood splatters were all over the base of the monument like red lichen, percolating up the flat sides of the monolith in a bizarre gory camouflage pattern such that it was hard to tell where the floor ended and the monolith rose up from the floor.

"Are you quite alright, Whisper?"

IC: Nale Vella - The Taku (Bridge)

Nale whirled around to face Knichou, using her element to brace herself and magnetize herself in place as the ship came to a halt. "Knichou--!"

The Nynran had managed to create a pillow to soften his fall, in a somewhat comical display, along with his own adaptive armor protecting him. Nale let out a sigh of relief and attempted to take a step forward, before realizing her hands were still magnetized to the ship. Letting go of her element at the perfectly wrong time, combined with inertia, resulted in her tripping forward and landing on top of her partner.

"...at least we didn't crash."

IC: Jutori - Kini-Koro Hospital

The Ba-Toa looked about the same as he had before. He slowly turned his head to face Katrin, opening his optics at about the same speed and blinking a couple times.

"...I'd rather not. How long has...is it the same day, still?"

IC Leklo + Oreius | Airspace, Ambling Alp

4 hours ago, Void Emissary said:

"In that case," Parnassus said, the words seeming to scrape and grind out of their armoured throat, "do what you must, Oreius -- and then get us to Kumu."

"Do as I must," Oreius caustically echoed under his breath. Years upon years of his life and liberty had been stripped from him, and all those days he had been left doing the bidding of others, of generals and kings, of seers and djinn, never able to single draw a breath for himself ever since he made a bargain with a devil. He had moved through the universe doing what he thought he wanted only for it to be pre-ordained and he fought in wars, shed his sweat and blood in accordance to his principles, and then discovered it was all according to someone else's plan. The beachhead of the N. Continent; the plains of Kahzanhi; the forests of Daxia; the streets of Metru Nui; all these and more were because of another's whims and he, a once-too Maru of honor and justice, had been succumbed to by his hubris and the one attachment of love he ever had.

Inu still beat in his shoulder like some terrible parrot that chirped sweet pictures in his neural system, and the kraata his beloved had become had become a constant reminder of his folly. Hatred stirred in his heart that burned brighter than as his own flames and hotter than his love for Inu, an unabated anger that reviled both Stannis the "Once-brother" and himself for his own stupidity. He spent his time stewing, despising everything that reeked of the Wanderer and yet ever being in his patron's shadow. No matter where he went or what he did he could not snuff out his anger, regardless how much sand he poured on the embers or spit upon the ashes. He tried to put himself out of his misery more than once, early on, only to find the bullets ricochet off his chin like flicked stones; he threw himself against marauders more than once, hoping to be vanquished in honor one final time, but instead turned the tides of battle and shirked away from the spotlight of glory because of what it reminded him of.

Do as I must, he thought to himself bitterly. And nothing more.

Finally he found his ship, hovering in the air exactly where he left it, and realized immediately there was no chance of the airships docking to make the transfer easy. Unwilling to negotiate with the controls or be too careful with his fate he simply sidled the Ambling Alp several bio above the Lapyx, and opened the gangway to exit the ship. "Take the controls," he commanded to Leklo as he got up from the seat and moved to the ramp that funneled thundering air into the hull of the small research vessel. "I'm jumping."

"What are you doing?" Leklo asked loudly over the roar of wind, a spur of disbelief and concern coming from his lips as he realized the dangerous stunt his fellow toa was about to attempt—and wished it was he who undertook it instead.

"What I must!"

"But what if you miss?"

"Then I will dash my body on the rocks below... and I will curse their kind when I get up unscathed," he roared angrily and emphatically pointed an accusatory finger at Parnassus.

Oreius jumped.

What are his chances of success? Leklo calculated as he took the pilot's seat and turned the Alp south.

IC: Knichou, Ko-Pou, The Taku, Bridge

Having clenched his optics shut out of instinct during the fall, Knichou opened his eyes a moment later, after hearing Nale's relieved sigh. He gave a pained sigh of his own, an outlet for his numbness. They were okay. He began to reassure her (and himself).

"Don't worry I'm -"

The Nynran's sentence was interrupted by the sharp inhalation of his gasp as Nale began to follow in her partner's footsteps with a tumble of her own. His optics felt like they were bulging out of their sockets as Nale's potentially hazardous fall was broken by the cushioning layers of Knichou's adaptive armor (And the unprepared Toa underneath). The freshly-adapted padding and the Ex-Ghost's frightened clenching helped, but didn't keep the wind from being knocked out of the Fe-Toa. The nanodermis armor's programming discerned a strange mix of elevated stress and comfort levels. The fall-protective padding, having done its job, began to deflate as it followed the softer cuddle protocols that typically accompanied proximity to the commander's most trusted wingmate. Having confirmed her identity and analyzed Knichou's subconscious neural responses as part of the suit's scanning for nervous system and environmental changes, the armor's composition shifted and Nale began to sink through the metal that acted like a liquid to her touch alone, soon reaching the warm Toa underneath.

"...f i n e," he squeaked, falling limp and letting the tension in his body release in a similar manner to how his armor instinctually knew to do the same when Nale was in close proximity. With the impact over, the soft pressure and presence was now nurturing to the winded Toa. The engineer's optics were closed again, and his chest rose and fell in large, slow movements that Nale felt flow into her with the peaceful regularity of waves on a beach.

ow... breathe... shhhhhhh...

"...at least we didn't crash."

A second later, there was a momentary lurch in the ship as one of the levitation engines malfunctioned for a brief moment before the auto-hover system corrected the vessel's balance. The ship only dropped a few inches to the side, but it was enough to sent a shiver down one's spine for a split second. Knichou's next deep breath exhaled in a sigh.

"Sorry, bosses, should have warned you," Berys meekly announced. "We're, uh, here."

IC: Arnex, Ko-Pou, The Taku, Entrance Ramp

Arnex raised an eyebrow at the proposition. Knichou had that fancy mask, but it would take more than that to get this ship back in shape. Plus Knichou was the type of guy who would want someone to boss around to do the work for him, Arnex thought.

"I have a feeling we'll need all the help we can get to get fully prepared for our next voyage, whatever that is. The Captain and Commander are upstairs in the bridge, if you want to negotiate something. I'll lead you there if you want."

OOC: @Daniel the Finlander feel free to bunny Arnex up to the bridge if Niidak decides to go there, or anywhere else on the airship for that matter.

IC Stannis | Kumu

"Unless this temple's god is less discerning than vampires," Stannis said absentmindedly, but nevertheless with intent as he ambled away from the monolith with its frescoes and instead moved his inspection to one of the dimly glowing domes.

IC: Grime | Kumu

He took a step back. Blood sacrifice sounded pretty warskak, not aspect. His eyes wandered about, feet rooted in one spot. Was this all just a trap? Was the thing inside Stannis planning to kill them all?

"If this place is a temple, then there must be a secret space where the stories of the spirit's acts or their treasures are enshrined. Often it's a sanctum of some kind. If we could find if, I'm sure there'd be something worth our time."

IC: Nuju | Kini-Nui

"That would be a question for Mazor or Irna. They were the keepers of this device. I never saw it glow though," Nuju answered both Onaku and Sidra at once.

"It seems the scales have tipped. If only we knew which way."

IC: Nale Vella - The Taku (Bridge)

Nale felt a sense of comfort as she sank into her partner's nanodermis. Feeling the rise and fall of his chest as she pressed against it, like the many moments they'd spent alone together. Like that morning, before everything happened.

"Thanks for catching me, commander," she joked. It was a humorous situation, all things considered.

After a brief moment of laying on the floor of the bridge and one more jolt from the ship that made her heartlight jump, she decided the clumsy moment could pass and they should get to work. Nale flashed a smile at the Fe-Toa beneath her before looking over her shoulder at their pilot.

"It's uh, alright, Berys. As long as no one got hurt, right?"

The Toa of Magnetism got back to her feet, slowly, separating from Knichou's armor once more. Nale put a hand out to help her partner up. "Come on, then. Let's assess the situation here."

IC: Niidak (Ko-Pou)

Negotiate something? What else was there to negotiate about, besides the price of her assistance? Nothing else interested Niidak, in any case.

”Sure. This ship has both a captain and a commander on board? Must be an important vessel then.” Which meant she could possibly try charging extra.

She climbed up the ramp and followed Arnex inside the ship, headed to the bridge to meet with the two authority figures there. As she was walking, she observed the damages from the inside, and concluded they were was plenty to fix. Yet another reason to charge extra.

As Arnex got onto the bridge, Niidak was not far behind. She decided to let the matoran make the introductions.

IC: Arnex, Ko-Pou, The Taku

"Important vessel? You could say that again. Commander Knichou certainly would," Arnex joked as the Vortixx embarked the airship. The Onu-Matoran silently lead Niidak out of the Taku's entrance area and into the cargo bay proper. The lower deck was a mess, and the back half of it appeared entirely missing. The Vortixx could almost feel the strain on the airship's machinery as it struggled to keep everything operational amidst near-catastrophic damage to critical systems.

The pair turned around to climb one of the mirrored staircases on other side of the ship that lead to the upper deck. They were met with a large meeting area with a sturdy table that could fit the entire crew, and to each side were doors leading to other rooms of the airship, the threshold to the port side marked Crew and the one to starboard marked Officers. Towards the front of the upper deck, past the meeting table, was a larger, sealed door leading to the bridge, which the duo approached...

IC: Knichou, Ko-Pou, The Taku, Bridge

"Thanks for catching me, commander."

There was a rumbling in Knichou's chest as the engineer could hardly suppress his pained chuckling. Words couldn't escape the Toa, but despite being hardly able to synthesize any response, the comment's impact on him was clear from the assortment of nonverbal reactions he exhibited. Her joke may not have been the most elaborate, but yet the entire situation and her presence bubbled up a warm laughter within the Nynran even as he wheezed while trying to recover from the impacts of the pair of falls.

Knichou's optics opened to see his partner smile for a moment, an expression that had already been been beaming on Knichou's face since her remark, before his armor sealed himself off from the world once again as the last Toa Rode lifted herself up a few moments later. The adaptive armor was as much an extension of Knichou's body and nervous system as Knichou was inherently tied to its purpose. The ex-Ghost's second skin had never left him unprotected from the outside, however its actions of letting a trusted party share its symbiotic bond with Knichou was one of the rare moments where Knichou's instincts allowed himself to feel the presence of something unfiltered by the protective layer of nanites. The freedom Knichou felt to feel free near Nale was exhilarating.

"It's uh, alright, Berys. As long as no one got hurt, right?"

The pilot shrugged to the captain with an unamused, knowing expression beneath the dark green tint of his kaukau.

"If anything, I'd say the opposite happened, making this possibly the most exciting landing for you two today. Knich' should give a tip. Five stars, at least."

The commander gave an amused snicker at the remark as his right hand locked with Nale's, the two Toa's adaptive gauntlets forming a metallic seal as their armor systems amalgamated by the will of the subconscious bond they shared. The two barely needed to hold hands to lift Knichou for their armor did all the gripping for them with mechanical strength and computational precision, and yet the grip of the two Toa's clasped hands beneath the liquid metal armor could have shattered protosteel.

"Come on, then. Let's assess the situation here."

As Nale helped lift the flustered Commander to his feet, The bulkhead doors slid open to reveal Arnex, followed closely by a Vortixx none of those aboard had met before. It appeared the situation had come to assess them.

"Ummm, Captain Vella, Commander Knichou," Arnex began with nods in the direction of each to introduce her superiors to Niidak. "This is a local who's offering to help in the repairs."

Knichou's bubbly demeanor momentarily shifted back to serious as his optics narrowed as they combed over the newcomer, soaking in the details with a thorough scanning. Needless to say, the former Nynrah Ghost instinctively worried of another copycat Xian trying to steal his designs. That ancient feud was as ingrained in his mind as much as his adaptive armor's subsystems were. Knichou did cool his suspicions with the logical conclusion that the Vortixx's corporate masters were no longer a part of the equation due to the collapse, although this did not rule out all the possibilities for deception. Xia had been content to sit on both sides of the war to make lucrative contracts on whoever could pay them best, and the League was the winning one, much to Knichou's chagrin.

A moment of considering his limited options later, Knichou lightened up slightly. Best to not look a gift Ussal in the mouth, as they say.

"Great, Berys will let you know what to fix once we're done meeting with the guards here," he said, pointing a thumb over his shoulder at the now-sighing Le-Matoran pilot. "We need to make sure we can carry everyone and everything we can for this evacuation."

IC: Ostrox (Zakaz Airspace, The Ambling Alp, The Bridge) - Tranquility

"Odd. Usually they need to be pushed out for that." Ostrox commented on Oreius going skydiving without a parachute. "In any case..." He then started searching the ship for anything of importance or interest while they made their way to the Kumu Peninsula.

IC: NU-8020S (Ko-Pou, The Taku, The Bridge) - The Wizard Is a Lie

Thank goodness for short attention spans. It had been eclipsed by Knichou committing casual manslaughter, but she did indeed hear and process all that he had been insistent to keep quiet between him, Nale and NU-8020S. Toa Stannis was apparently not a Toa at all, but a creature known as an 'Aspect of Makuta'. 'Aspect'... the same word the idiotic creature who prevented Takadox’s capture simply by existing and completely misunderstanding the concept of justice called itself.

Of course, the only witness to this was another one of these Aspects, so the validity of this testimony was questionable at best, even more so coming from Knichou. Despite his aptitude for less advanced machinery than herself, it was clear the fleshsack’s mind was feeble, as he was incapable of grasping her superior intelligence, let alone sapience. In any case, it was unlikely Knichou would be unwilling to divulge further details concerning Stannis and Sorilax at this time, considering the presence of new organics.

All logic dictated that despite the recent disappearance of the surrounding geography, Ko-Pou’s portal to Kini-Koro should still be active. From there, she could head back through the portal to Tobduk-Koro, and tell Kanohi all about this. It was not as if Knichou’s ridiculous made-up command could stop her, after all. And while Kini-Koro was still in danger - thus why evacuating the populace of Ko-Pou via airship was preferable to using the portal network - well, she would only need to be there for a short while, a short intermission while travelling through spacial rifts. After all, their original mission of liberating Vahkikind and then re-enslaving Vahkikind had been delayed, substantially. She could go and be back in ample enough time for the numbingly slow organics to get their act together...

Or alternatively, she could see if the radio network between the three settlements was still active before doing that and try to inform Kanohi remotely. Yes, it was probably better to try that first. Not waiting for permission, NU-8020S already began making her way off the ship.

I don’t think..." She was about to say: 'I don’t think the slug in my arm would protect me from an airship crash', but that was a weird thing to say, so she didn’t finish saying it.

Achro was not far behind. He stood at the top of the ramp, and looked down upon Ko-Pou, surveying what he saw and trying to draw parallels within his memory. "Hm. Hmmmmmm... I don’t remember there being an island here. Is this a new addition?" He asked aloud, to no one in particular.

“Ostrox,” Nuju said confidently in the silence after Onaku spoke. “Ostrox is the one to find. He’s difficult, likes to fight, but he was a warrior of Mantax. He’ll know where to find Irna and Mazor, or at least he’ll want to help. By the way, since when did the ocean reach the valley? Is this a new civic project?”

Nuju gestured towards the missing mountain range to the south, and the sudden glittering of the ocean shore. In the far distance across the rippling waves were the green boughs of the Fau Swamp. The waters between landmasses swirled violently, sucked into the void where moments before mountains rested.

“Maybe time is running out."

Protecting her village from the dangers within and beyond the swamp... finding a way to destroy Mata Nui... figuring out what was going on with the Krom Sphere... tracking down Stannis... asking Sorilax about whatever lay below... locating the rest of the Makoki Stones... it was too much for just her.

"Okay, forget this," she stuffed the still-shifting Krom Sphere back into her belt pouch, "One thing at a time. Nuju, you said there were six Makoki Stones, right? One's already here, Stannis has another, but do you have any idea where or how we find the rest?"

One fragment was cast into the Far Shore, and it was found by Stannis who then absconded with it rather than placing it in the wall. I do not know where the other stones may be, only that they were scattered and are items of great power. "What are we mulling over? Let's get this over with," Korruhn stated. Whether it was a trap or not was inconsequential. They were here now; may as well see it through so they could Carry on. He looked down at his void-touched right arm. "Wouldn't be the first time I've spilled blood in a temple; won't be the last, surely." From the depths of his cloak he withdrew a small dagger; a vestigial tool of his days as a temple-rat. Gripping the worn handle in his right hand, he delicately slashed his wrist open; just enough to draw a good amount of blood without it going out of control. He held his wrist in front of him, towards the obelisk, and let the blood run to the floor.

IC: Niidak (Ko-Pou)

Niidak already regretted not simply introducing herself -- the matoran didn't say she was offering to help for a price. She glanced at the occupants of the bridge, finding it curious how there was a Vahki on board, but her optics mostly focused on the commander on deck. There was something oddly familiar about him, yet Niidak couldn't put a claw on it. His mask seemed especially fancy, though she did not recognize it due to her basic knowledge about masks.

She crossed her arms and frowned. "Well, before I do anything else, I do have to say that I don't work for free. While widgets have lost their relevancy, I do accept payment in most things, even mere food."

She guessed that the talk about an evacuation had something to do with the island sinking and Kini-Koro being under threat. This potentially meant repairs of the ship were urgent, thus giving her another reason to charge extra.
