Looks like we've missed Nuparu, but I've been assured by @Geardirector that his office staff will be able to help Akie out when she gets there. I don't know quite how we want to play it, if they should just wander over and Gonrae can hand Akie off to someone else, or if you have something else in mind; I'm flexible to go with whatever works best for everyone else ^^

Hello all! Long story short, it was recommended to me that I should seek out something to do that makes me happy, and I ended up going down some rabbit holes that led me back to Bionicle! I used to love Bionicle as a kid, and remember coming to this website a bunch to goof around.

I've spent some time today working on a character for this game because I think it'd be fun if I just hop in, write my own little post, then hop out at my own speed. I don't want to derail what other characters are up to; I just wanna write my own little Bionicle adventures and this seems like a fun place to do it. I'm making this post though because the profiles topic is locked? Is the game no longer accepting new players? Am I just looking at the wrong topic?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hey, I don't know which GM to DM, so I'm posting this question here. If I need to delete this post and just DM someone, let me know.

I'm working on a Toa character for BZPRPG, which is a Toa of Plant-life with an emphasis on more fungus aesthetics. For Kanohi I've narrowed down my choices to either a Jutlin, which is like fungal decomposition, but for inorganic matter (I would never use this power on living beings that would violate the Toa Code ) or a custom Kanohi, which is what I would need permission for.

My custom Kanohi would be the Mask of Empathy (Ahuru, after the Tahitian word for Empathy). For Powers, there's three main points:

1. Always on at a low level, similar to a few other Kanohi. This allows my character to be generally more attuned to the vibes of a social setting
2. User can feel how a target feels. If the target is jovial, the user becomes jovial. If the target is upset, the user becomes upset
3. Can project how the user feels onto a target. If the user is afraid, the target becomes afraid. If the user is tranquil, the target becomes tranquil

For weaknesses, I think the big ones would be:

1. User must maintain focus to use the power with a target
2. Target can resist empathy power
3. Can only project and feel genuine emotions and vibes; the user can't feel happy but try to make a target feel angry, for instance.
4. Limited to one target at a time (a Nuva mask could theoretically be used on multiple targets at once, but I don't plan on having a Nuva mask, so this is just for notes)
5. Having the Mask of Empathy always be on at a low level probably makes the user more vulnerable to having their mood be altered by their surroundings (being around grumpy people probably increases the chance the user is grumpy, etc).

I think this sounds fairly reasonable (and fun!) so I hope the GMs can look this over and let me know if it would be allowed.

@Krayzikk  and @BULiK are our most available GM currently, although they do have a lot on their plates so I would encourage being patient with regards to how long approvals might take.   Also, if you need to post more than once in 24 hours it's generally encouraged to edit your old post instead of making a new one.   You can also tag other users in your posts with the [@] sign.

Also, there's no need to rigidly adhere to the Toa Code--your character can have a personal moral philosophy but there's a fair amount of toa who have killed evil people, not to mention the toa that are straight up evil.   Proportional force is encouraged, but your not going to get rejected by society if you defend yourself violently from someone trying to do violence to yourself or other innocents.

Also I do encourage you to involve yourself with other people's storylines, as that's kind of the point of the RPG format.   I know there are a some fresh toa in Onu-koro having some discussions who might be willing to have you join in.

@Mel Oh, okay, thank you. I'll DM one of them. And thanks for the heads up about post frequency. For actual gameplay posts, I'm hoping to kinda post somewhat often, but I don't wanna create like a wall of just me, so I'll edit new posts in as well so I'm not overwhelming a topic. And okay, maybe there's no official Toa Code, but I'm still gonna be a good guy 🙂

@Geardirector Thanks for the heads up. For now, I think I just wanna kinda do some solo stuff off in the wilderness (is it still called on Mata-Nui?) but maybe a little down the line I can do a little meta-gaming and nudge my adventures in your direction. All your characters look really cool btw

A basic summary would be the Mask of Empathy tunes the wearer in to the general vibe around him, and he can use his power to feel how someone else genuinely feels, or project his genuine feelings onto someone else.

Would this be okay to have as a Kanohi? I really like this idea so I hope you say yes lol
