confused piraka Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) matoran is a interesting language. it works on a circle format and was used for the full run of bionicle(g1) but you already know that so are you fluent in matoran? lets make it a official language Edited January 11, 2023 by confused piraka 1 Quote
Aderia Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 This is fun - I voted no based on the conlang project from outofgloom (see some of his work here on his blog) that expands Matoran into its own, functional language with its own grammar and such. While he doesn't use the circles and dots writing transliteration, it is a complex system of roots and stems and grammar that I've not yet learned. That said, at one point I did know the circles/dots transliteration for our English alphabets, but frankly, writing so many circles was annoying and very impractical, orthographically speaking. Writing that way is one thing, but reading fluently is another. 1 Quote (disclaimer: none of this banner art is original, I just smooshed it together in gimp. Bambi Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 I was at one point. I used to enjoy playing MNOG and being able to read the signs lol. 2 Quote [my blog] [custom emotes]
That Matoran with a Vahi Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) The Matoran alphabet, yes, I can read as long as what's written in that alphabet is still inherently English; I rewatched the Bionicle trilogy over Christmas and, while a little bit rusty, could still fluently read all the 'joke credits' at the end of the credit roll of 2 and 3 ^^ Edited January 12, 2023 by That Matoran with a Vahi 1 Quote "New legends awake, but old lessons must be remembered. confused piraka Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 well you are a matoran so that makes sense 1 Quote
(-Kopaka Toa of Ice-) Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Nope i remember names but not much of dialogue outside from common terms such as weapons and masks. I'm too rusty after the glory of bionicle glory-days. Quote
confused piraka Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) do you remember the system though Edited January 12, 2023 by confused piraka Quote
Daler99 Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I voted yes as I can read/write in Matoran pretty well. I used to leave Matoran messages around my college for people to find lol. Some people in my dorm building learned it because of my messages too 1 Quote ~Daler
Mushy the Mushroom Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 (edited) Sadly not yet, but it is a one-day-goal! (I'm frightfully dyslexic and was illiterate in my own human language until age 7, so not terribly surprising). I wish I'd known of it in prior years for the secret missions of my brother's tree-based Spy Club. Would have been a far superior system to that of white crayon "invisible ink" and writing in reverse, haha. Edited January 14, 2023 by Mushy the Mushroom Are you fluent in it yourself, if I may ask? 1 Quote Member-Made Emote Topic Original Mush art thanks to @Bambi
The Toa of Music Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 I'm not fluent at all but I wish I was. Quote Yeah the gang's on the loose, nothing you can do.
