Welcome to B6's Block Party!

Recommended Posts

Yes, that's the best name I could come up with - names are hard! Coming back from a couple months of soul-searching, I am ready to return to streaming - come join the block party! After almost a decade of doing different types of streams with different names and schedules, I am merging everything into one generic LEGO-themed stream not tied to building sets, playing videogames, days of the week, or a specific platform. That stream is B6's Block Party!

Our first stream will be tomorrow, March 20th, at 7 PM Eastern, where we're going to build a LEGO set. What set? You'll have to come and find out! We haven't changed locations, so we'll still be over on the BZPower Twitch channel, with archives posted on our YouTube channel.

Moving forward, the plan will be to announce a schedule every Sunday or Monday, with at least a day's notice so people can plan accordingly. We'll be building sets, playing videogames, and maybe other things? I have a lot of bricks that need to be sorted and some sets that need to be taken apart eventually, so maybe you'll see that too at some point (or you won't because it sounds boring and you won't watch). There won't be anymore giveaways like we did with our set builds - believe it or not after almost a decade since we received the first pallets from The LEGO Group, we are actually starting to run low and want to focus our remaining supplies on things like contests and the convention circuit.

So yeah, something new and hopefully fresh and fun! At some point I'll probably need to come up with a new logo and maybe some overlays and other graphics - if you want to help, please let me know!

Thanks everyone who has ever watched one of our streams and to all our future viewers - we do this for the fun of it and hope you have fun too!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm really glad that as a result of both of us playing Lego Brawls recently, I had decided to start watching streams on my tablet rather than my computer, as that allows me to be more flexible with when I could be available to join in. Even so, 7:00 pm Eastern Time is pretty much right at the earliest moment when I could be available on a weekday, so as long as you don't try moving it to an earlier time, I'll be okay with this.

I've always had at least a mild interest in the Architecture theme, so I was fine with watching today's build stream of Venice. As for which other sets I could recommend for upcoming build streams, the Tales of the Space Age set from the Ideas theme I had mentioned in the chat might be a good idea. Not only is it $50 (I think you mentioned that would be easily within you budget, though correct me if I misheard), but also you have a lot of possibilities on where you could place the completed set, either on a narrow shelf (only four studs thick) or even hang it up on a wall (each segment includes that special piece on the back you see on those Art theme sets).

On the side of video games, I would first suggest continuing with Lego Brawls, since you've already got the first of six Champion characters unlocked, so you might as well go for the other five. After that, you could either keep going at least until you've fully unlocked everything in every available theme in that game, or you might consider picking up Lego Bricktales and trying that game. From my experience, it took me about an hour to complete each story level (five in total), a couple more hours to go for full game completion after that, and less than an hour for each of the bonus levels (four in total), so while it'll take some time to complete Lego Bricktales, it won't be quite as long as most of the other Lego games you've already played.

Not a bad start to this new system, so I'll make sure to stick around and see what's next.

Now that I'm more flexible with watching these livestreams, it's actually kind of nice that I had a chance to just chat a little bit about my own collection of Lego sets while you were building something. And while I do occasionally check brickset.com about Lego news, the announcement of those upcoming space theme collectible minifigures was recent enough that I had only just now heard about it, and now that I've taken a look, I'm beginning to consider possibly getting those as perhaps the only wave of collectible minifigures I may ever try to get all of them, let alone any of them.

I do find it kind of strange that I'm once again apparently the only viewer using the chat, as I assumed it was builds like these that got other fellow members more interested. Eh, I guess that might change once awareness gets out there of this new schedule. Anyway, an interesting build this week, and I'll certainly be looking forward to what'll be on next week.

Pretty good progress going through the first Lego Indiana Jones game the last two days. I will say that the Steam guide I've been checking includes images to help out, so you might find that to be more preferable to what you've been reading. As for the achievements, let me remind you that I've played these Lego games on Steam, which for some reason does not have any achievements for the older Lego games, so I will not be able to provide you with any (experienced) help with unlocking any of those achievements.

I'm pretty sure there's more I wanted to mention, but I'm currently in a bit of a rush to get to something else, so I'll probably post about it later if I can remember it.

Nice to see you decided to get that Tales of the Space Age set I had recommended, and that you overall like it. Quite appropriate timing as well, considering the solar eclipse that occurred earlier this week. I do not yet have any other set recommendations (at least among sets that are still available for purchase), so I'll be interested to see what else you might have in mind.

For the Lego Indiana Jones game stream, since it's become clear that your primary source for guides has failed to be specific enough, the link I'll provide at the bottom of this post leads to all the Lego games guides available on Steam, which I've used while playing these Lego games. Many of them provide images in addition to the text, which should help provide a better idea of where you'll find all of the collectibles. The only time where I would recommend a video guide would be for some that have proven to be a little difficult to obtain, such as trying to hop into the back of a moving truck (you may want to study that video for where they jump from and in which direction they go for that particular one). From my experience, the most frustrating minikits to obtain in this game were at the beginning of the last level of Temple of Doom since they're in a chase zone, but maybe you'll have better luck with those than I did, because I don't really remember having much of a problem with that one you're still missing from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Quite unfortunate that it's at the end of a level in an older Lego game, though I do have experience with a similarly frustrating minikit in Lego Lord of the Rings, but I did catch a break when I discovered that I could reset that chase zone by quitting the level without saving and then immediately restarting the level would somehow start me at the beginning of the chase zone rather than the entire level, so while I have no idea if that would be of any help to you, I figured it might be at least worth sharing as a possible idea to consider.

Anyway, here's the link for those Lego games guides: https://steamcommunity.com/id/legogamesguy/myworkshopfiles/?section=guides&p=1&numperpage=30

Four more levels fully completed, so that was some good progress this week. I should warn you that the next two levels will have certain difficulties to them. First of them (the only one you have apparently yet to collect a certain amount of studs) will be on moving mine carts after the first area, but while those areas in constant motion are in a circuit, I'd recommend you be careful to not hit just any random thing or you might find yourself progressing through the level without being able to collect some minikits along the way. Second of them starts off with needing to collect two minikits while running through a chase zone (I remember being most frustrated with that particular area, though perhaps knowing that you can save and quit to grab at least one of those two might make things a little easier for you), and let's just say you'll start off with needing to immediately use that bazooka trooper as soon as the level starts. As for the achievements, like I said earlier, Steam doesn't provide achievements for the oldest Lego games (LEGO Lord of the Rings was the earliest Lego game for which I could unlock achievements on Steam), so I have no experience with which I could offer any assistance, so I'm afraid you'll need to figure out that aspect for yourself.

Three more levels fully completed, despite needing multiple attempts for one of the minikits (certainly easier when its at the beginning of a level rather than the end). Also, don't worry too much about not affording those larger stud multiplier red parcels right away. Keep in mind there are three bonus levels, and while the first is that Young Indy story level, the other two are the "collect a million studs" type of bonus levels, so you'll definitely get there (even if you must repeat those bonus levels a few times to get the several millions of studs like I had to). Anyway, thanks for letting us know you'll be off for the next two weeks, so I'll look forward to what's next when you come back.

Three more levels fully completed, along with one of the bonus levels. Sorry I wasn't able to log in sooner to inform you of that audio issue (as I've said before, 7:00pm is pretty much the absolute earliest I can be able to join the chat). Looks like next time will be enough to at least fully complete the last two levels as well as play the Young Indy bonus level (as I said in the chat, that one should be unlocked because you needed all minikits from just any three levels, regardless of which movie they're from). I think the last bonus level requires collecting all of the minikits from all of the levels, including that one from Raiders of the Lost Ark that you've struggled to obtain.

As for the achievements, I'll leave that entirely up to you. As I've said before, I have no experience with such achievements, since Steam does not provide them for the older Lego games. Seeing what some of those achievements are, I could see myself doing everything I could to unlock them, even if it took me several hours to accomplish because I'm OCD enough to seek absolute perfection (which I somehow doubt you would be quite that obsessed with).

Anyway, looking forward to the next stream.

I certainly want to get all of the achievements, but some of them seem like they'll be a real grind to get, and that would make sure a boring stream, going around and attacking things with a whip and finding snakes to kill and whatnot. I guess we'll see how things go next week!

Alright! 100% game completion has been reached! Just a few more achievements left to go (depending on how many remaining achievements you're willing to grind through), then it'll be onto the next game (which should obviously be the second Lego Indiana Jones game, for which you seem to currently have only a handful of achievements unlocked just from completing the story levels, so there's a lot more to that game you have not yet experienced).

I can't really think of anything else to add at this time. I suppose if you find yourself struggling with those remaining achievements, I'll just make my suggestions in the chat (after all, I couldn't unlock any achievements from these older Lego games, so that experience is just as new to me as it'll be for you). Looking forward to see how soon you'll finish everything with the first Lego Indiana Jones game, then it'll be on to the second one.

Looks like I only have six achievements left:

  1. Trouble with her is the noise. Destroy 50 objects or characters using the scream and super scream ability.
  2. How we say goodbye in Germany. Access restricted enemy locations 50 times.
  3. How dare you kiss me! Use your whip to kiss Marion, Willie and Elsa.
  4. You call this archaeology? Use a scholar character's academic ability 50 times.
  5. I can't believe what you did! Disarm 100 enemies with the whip.
  6. We go for a ride. Perform 250 whip swings in the game.

Based on reading some guides, the best spot for the first two is the Ancient City secret level. You go in, break glass, do the restricted area, then leave and go back. That also seems like a good place to do the third one, since I need female character who can scream anyway (although I don't think Elsa can scream).

Looks like the best spot for the fourth is Temple of the Grail, where you can quickly do three puzzles then quit.

Fifth one will be the last level in The Last Crusade, and it looks like making a custom character might help because they're more reliable than Indy when it comes to disarming.

And the last and grindiest one is Battle on the Bridge.

Fingers crossed we can get them all next week!

Good to get those big grinds out of the way and the last remaining achievements have been unlocked. As much as I'm looking forward to seeing you get through Lego Indiana Jones 2 (a game I do like quite a lot because of its unique structure), I'm okay with waiting until after your two week break. Besides, I very much welcome seeing another build stream, as I would like another opportunity to just relax and chat rather than focus all my attention on how you're progressing through a game. And, uh... that's pretty much all I have to say here. See you next week.

Probably just as well that this week's build stream was for a set I didn't find particularly interesting, as I had a lot of other things to get caught up on while listening in. At least I had an opportunity to mention a few other things in the chat, like my good fortune with getting all 12 of the space-themed Series 26 Collectible Minifigures.

Also just as well that you'll be off for the next two weeks. Let's just say I could really use those extra hours to clear up some things on my to-do list...

Since I don't know when I'll have an opportunity to make any suggestions before you get started on going through Lego Indiana Jones 2, I might as well add it to this comment. As I've said before, it is a very uniquely structured Lego game. Probably the first thing worth mentioning is that while it does include a "level builder" feature that does in fact contribute to 100% game completion, I would highly recommend you save that section of the game for the very last few things to do, as much of the so-called progress in that section is mostly just purchasing items, so you'll want to be sure you have plenty of studs already collected by that point. As for where to begin, it should be noted that while each hub world has five Treasure Levels (alternate versions of the Story Levels where the objective is to collect a minikit) and five bonus levels (levels that must be found in the hub world and are structured as if they were made in the level builder with the objective also being to collect a minikit) to complete, there's also other things to do while exploring the hub world, such as characters and vehicles to purchase, some races to run to unlock some other characters and vehicles for purchase, and destroying a number of certain objects to unlock the colored bricks for purchase that provide special bonuses (red for a stud multiplier, blue for a special aid such as fast interactions, and green for a sillier bonus that's just for fun). Since I assume you'll want to start at the Raiders of the Lost Ark hub world, the very first thing I would recommend you do is unlock and purchase the red brick in that area, as I remember from experience that some levels are practically impossible to fill the stud meter without at least one stud multiplier active.

And now we begin making progress to full completion of Lego Indiana Jones 2, and it seems you decided to start your efforts by unlocking the red, blue, and green bricks in two of the six hub worlds. Slightly challenging, especially since access to some areas required purchasing a certain vehicle and/or character, but at least you got those bricks unlocked (even if you couldn't afford some of them just yet).

As for what to do next, I see two options that I'll let you decide on. You could continue with the same effort for the four remaining hub worlds, even though it means almost certainly not purchasing any of the bricks (and likely being forced to purchase a few other things along the way just to access certain places). I doubt you'll have enough studs to afford any of the other red bricks after that, but at least you'll have gone through the effort of breaking all the things to unlock them, so once you do have enough studs, you'll just have to go to where those bricks appeared so you can purchase them.

The other option would be to go back to one of the two hub worlds you just went through and focus all your efforts on fully completing that whole area by playing through all of the treasure levels and bonus levels. (You'll need to purchase at least a few more characters to be able to complete certain treasure levels. Purchasing vehicles will provide more options in the vehicle-based treasure level, but probably not necessary to complete it.) Once you have obtained all ten minikits, you can then build them into a model that will take you to the super bonus level of that hub world, where the objective is to collect a million studs (and the best part is that unlike the previous game, you'll get to keep that million studs after finishing the level).

I'm fine with whatever choice you decide to make. Unlocking all the bricks in the other hub worlds will make it easier to come back later to purchase those bricks. On the other hand, concentrating your focus on fully completing just one hub world will eventually allow you to unlock one of the Super Bonus Levels, which you can then replay like any other level and continue to obtain another million studs upon completion every time. Which would you prefer to do?

So it seems you've decided to go for completing all the levels in one hub world, specifically Raiders of the Lost Ark. Good to see you got nearly all of those levels completed, though I'm sure you now understand why it might be better to play the vehicle-based treasure level in the other hub worlds as early as possible in future streams so you don't risk going immensely overtime. Hopefully, with only one treasure level left to go, it won't take long before you'll have completed your first super bonus level, after which you'll be able to obtain studs quickly enough to begin purchasing everything.

(By the way, it just occurred to me that the reason why you did not get the achievement for completing all the bonus levels in the Raiders world might be because the super bonus level might be included for that achievement.)

Alright, after completing the remaining levels in the Raiders of the Lost Ark zone (including the super bonus level) and purchasing the x3 studs red brick, you decided to unlock all three bricks in the Crystal Skull Part 2 zone. And if I heard you correctly, your plan for next time is to unlock all three bricks in the Temple of Doom zone, then complete all the treasure levels and bonus levels for Temple of Doom, hoping that by then you'll have enough studs to purchase the x4 stud red brick you unlocked in Crystal Skull Part 2. A rather peculiar plan, I'll admit, though I suppose it may save you the need to repeat any of the super bonus levels several times, as I had to back when I had played this game just so I could afford all the red bricks (though I did earn enough studs to purchase everything else as I progressed through each hub world).

By the way, earlier today, I decided to take a look at Lego Brawls for the first time in three months, and it seems there has still been nothing new added to the game since the holiday theme ended after December, which is unusual if you look back at how frequently previous additions had been made to the game (at least since its wider release to consoles in September 2022). With the exception of the annual temporary additions of the Spooky October and Holiday December themes, there were the additions of: the Pirate Free-for-Brawl level in November 2022; the Castle Base Race level in March 2023; the Ninjago Dragons Rising theme and level in June 2023; and the temporary Brawl-Out event in September 2023. I'll keep checking in every month and let you know if anything new comes up, but for now, just keep in mind the possibility of returning to Lego Brawls in October for the Spooky theme.

Good to know! I guess they've probably stopped creating new content if it's been almost a year since the last drop. At least it's still playable online!

Pretty good progress through the Temple of Doom area, with all three bricks unlocked, as well as completing all the bonus levels and the vehicle-based treasure level (good to see it was nowhere quite as difficult as the one from Raiders of the Lost Ark). Just the four remaining treasure levels left to go to unlock the super bonus level for the Temple of Doom area, so I'll look forward to the next stream two weeks from now.

Nearly a month later, it's good to be back. Finished with all the levels in Temple of Doom, and unlocked all three color bricks in Last Crusade. Looking forward to seeing how you do going through the treasure and bonus levels for Last Crusade.

By the way, as I mentioned a couple posts back, while Lego Brawls has yet to see anything new this year, there will likely still be the return of the Spooky theme that's available only during the month of October, which is now only two months away. I don't know if you need to participate every week (though with how much time you can set aside for gaming, it would probably be best to play every week anyway), but I can definitely say that at least the final week's bunch of content will be available for that week only, so hopefully you'll have the time to spare as we get closer to Halloween.

Also, did you ever get caught up on watching the most recent season of Lego Masters from late last year? If not, well, let's just say it might now be too late to avoid some spoilers. In case if you were not aware, the winning team of the final challenge not only won the million dollar prize for becoming the season champion, but also their final build would be used to inspire the creation of an actual Lego set to be sold to consumers. I mention this because it seems that specific set just became available as of the beginning of this month (let me know if you'd rather avoid spoilers or if you're okay with me telling you which set I'm talking about).

Yep, I did watch the season and saw the set that was based on their model. Apparently Duck Bricks was originally planning on coming to BrickFair but had to change his plans to go to NYC for the set launch!

Good progress this week, and it seems you have now reached the point where you can very easily afford to purchase just about everything you come across. After you complete the super bonus level of Last Crusade and unlock the three color bricks for Crystal Skull part 3, I would recommend going back to Raiders of the Lost Ark to purchase all the remaining characters and vehicles, then do the same for Temple of Doom and Last Crusade before going for everything (levels and purchases) in the three parts of Crystal Skull. It should be noted that some characters and/or vehicles do not become available to purchase until after you complete certain races, so there's more to those races than just the relevant achievement. In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing how much further you'll get next time.

An excellent stopping point for tonight's stream. Glad I was able to help you find some of those missing things for the color bricks. And it seems you didn't have much difficulty with that vehicle-based treasure level, considering you had already completed it by the time I was able to log in. Hopefully, in your next stream later this week, you won't have too much difficulty with the vehicle races in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and Last Crusade as you purchase all the remaining characters and vehicles from those areas.

Technical issues aside, good to see you were able to obtain all the characters and vehicles from the first three areas (despite the occasional frustration with some races), and even had time to spare for (almost) all characters and vehicles in Crystal Skull Part 1. Good progress, and once all of the three Crystal Skull areas are complete, that will just leave the stuff for the level builder feature to complete.

By the way, do you know how to play the story levels in "Quick Play Mode"? I never tried it myself (didn't need to because no achievements on Steam for those older Lego games), and from what I recently looked up, it seems to involve using the "Creator" crate where you would find the Level Builder and the Character Customizer. This now has me wondering if it would even be possible to obtain "True Adventurer" in Quick Play Mode on the few levels you have not yet gotten. Well, it's not like you must do it all in sequence (at least, I don't think so, but I've been wrong before), so if that doesn't work, you can just directly replay those levels before resuming Quick Play Mode where you left off. Of course, this is all speculation on my part, so we won't know for sure until you eventually get to that point.

That's what I've read in the couple of guides I quickly looked at. They didn't mention anything about True Adventurer, but that should be easy enough to find out after playing the first one.

Part 1 complete, only Parts 2 and 3 left to go. At this rate, you might have this game fully completed by the end of September (which would conveniently allow you to get back to Lego Brawls in time for the Spooky seasonal theme throughout the month of October, if you're interested).

I guess you'll get your chance at that Hangar 51 achievement when you go through the story levels in Quick Play Mode. There's also an achievement for using the scholar puzzle ten times, but from what I've looked up, there's only eight such puzzles across all six areas, so to get that achievement, you'll need to replay a certain treasure or bonus level with such a puzzle a few times to get that achievement.

Anyway, good progress this week, and I'll look forward to next week.

If I'm replaying the levels in Quick Play, won't that give me an opportunity to use the scholar ability the last two times?

Great work with completing everything in Crystal Skull part two. Only part 3 of Crystal Skull left to go, and since you had already purchased most of the characters and vehicles in that area, it's possible you might be able to complete that section after just one more stream. After that, all that's left to do is to quick play all the story levels, and finally all the stuff there is to do involving the level builder.

As for what Lego game to play next after all that is done, I would suggest going back to Lego Brawls, since we're now getting close to the month of October, when the Spooky theme content will temporarily become available to unlock. I recall the content from that theme was available in five groups for each week, so the event might start as soon as the end of this month. I don't know if you must participate every week, but you should definitely play during the final week before the entire theme goes away until next year. (I decided to check the game earlier today, and while there is a piece of in-game news about a "Brawl-Out" event, I have not seen anything new or different at all in the actual game content. Either that news piece is an accidental leftover from last year's Brawl-Out event (which I did participate in last September) or that supposedly month-long event has already come and gone since the last time I had checked in over two months ago.)

Probably should've expected that you might struggle with some of those races. At least you were able to get most of them done, as well as most of the levels, so now just one race, two treasure levels, and the final super bonus level left to go until the main bulk of the game is completed, then it'll be onto the story levels in quick play mode along with using the level builder a little.

Thanks for letting us know next week will be off. Hopefully, you'll need little more than a week or two to finally complete Lego Indiana Jones 2, so that you might be able to return to Lego Brawls for the month of October.

I'd definitely like to head back to Brawls for the October event - I'll see if I can do two streams the week of September 23rd to help wrap up Indy 2, but no promises!

Alright, good to see all of the main game content is now (almost) fully completed, and now it's just the additional stuff from that big crate. I see it offers quick play mode in not just the story levels but also the treasure and bonus levels too. Good thing you won't have to worry about those extra levels, because not only is there no achievements for them, but also they don't seem to contribute to game completion (you'll notice that the whole crate is still listed as 0% complete after you did those first few story levels). What will contribute to game completion is completing the four level builder tutorial levels (accessed by selecting one of the empty spaces and selecting the create option), followed by purchasing all of the placeable objects in all of the different themes.

Anyway, if it turns out completing those levels in quick play mode does not allow you to get the True Adventurer stud meter, I would recommend playing the respective actual story level immediately after you complete it in quick play mode, so that you'll be familiar with how to complete that level as quickly as possible.

Also, I'll keep checking on Lego Brawls over the next week or two and will let you know as soon as possible when the Spooky theme comes up.

After checking every day this week, I can now confirm as of today that the Spooky theme is indeed back once more on Lego Brawls. Right now, only six things are available to unlock, with additional content gradually becoming available each week (and looking at the countdown clocks on each weekly set of content, it seems Tuesdays will be the day when each new week's batch of content becomes available). In addition, if this year works exactly the same as last year, there will also be some special maps to play on which are essentially some of the regular maps with a Halloween style appearance, with the objective being altered into a 4v4 teams to collect things (much like the regular Blacktron map and the seasonal Holiday map).

If you do decide to switch over to Lego Brawls for this week's stream, then I'll be looking forward to not only watch the stream, but also use the game's Party Mode to join in on the fun as well. (And if I remember correctly, you're still in the process of unlocking the champion characters, which involves grabbing and using powerups as frequently as possible.)

Good to see you were able to jump back into Lego Brawls without too much trouble. Now that I've rewatched the parts I missed, I would first like to point out that for the two forms of Party Mode, you'll definitely want to choose Co-op so that you're still able to play against other random players in addition to the party members. Versus mode I assume is more like a private party and would be preferred only if you plan to have more than four party members.

Also, the reason I had insisted on continuing late to unlock that final weekly mystery bag is because progress towards those mystery bags is always reset every week. If you're going to play only once a week, then any partway progress towards that final bag is just a waste of time, in my opinion, so you might as well choose to either stop early or go all the way. Besides, you never know what kind of really cool character or powerup you might get from that golden bag.

Anyway, I had fun this week, and will look forward to more next week.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention that, seeing as you finished the stream by unlocking one of the champion characters, all you need to do next time is play one round as any character to access the next champion character.
