Lenny7092 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Hi, guys. In Bionicle’s 2002 story arc, Lewa had a Krana on his face. After some time of having it, he removed it, but he gained a telepathic connection onto the Bohrok swarms. He finds this as unhealthy. I’m surprised this connection hasn’t disappeared (Turaga Matau and the Le-Matoran of Le-Koro do not look like they are suffering that condition somehow). Well, I’m doing a fan story about someone going to get rid of Lewa’s condition. Here are some ideas that I believe could cure Lewa’s condition: 1. Have a Toa of Psionics (or maybe a Toa Nuva of Psionics or an Elemental Creature of Psionics) remove it. 2. Have the Bahrag remove it. 3. Have a Makuta remove it if he or she were kind enough. 4. Have Tren Krom remove it if he was kind enough and still alive. 5. Have the Mask of Life remove it (would be best). 6. Have the Great Beings remove it (would be best). So, there. What do you think can remove Lewa’s condition? Same as mine? Edited February 9 by Lenny7092 Punctuation. Quote I like Lego, Bionicle, and Hero Factory!
Lorentz Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Huh? You're "surprised that this condition hasn't disappeared?" Why do you think that Lewa even has this condition in the first place? Rereading the relevant book, it doesn't seem like there even is a lingering connection or condition. Everything weird that happens to Lewa after having the Krana removed is explained in the text as either memories he got from the Krana, or the Bahrag using their telepathy on him. And the Bahrag use their telepathy on all of the Toa during that section of the book, so that doesn't even require prior connection with a Krana. I can't find any references to Lewa being still connected to the Bohrok or Bahrag in later stories and sources. 1 Quote Embers - A Bionicle Saga - Chapters/Review Ballads of the Bionicle - lore/character songs BZPRPG Characters - Minnorak, Kain, T'harrak, Savis, Vazaria, Lash, The Outsiders Ghosts Of Bara Magna - Ash Tribe - Precipere - Kehla, Somok, Skrall, Gayle, Avinus, Zha'ar
Lorentz Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) Okay, I think we can all agree that this "condition" never existed, or at the very least was only short-term. Case closed. Master Inika Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Agreed, I assume (if it was ever a real condition) it just wore off after a while. Taking your list at face value though, what makes options 5 and 6 better than the others? Quote "You are an absolute in these uncertain times. All Or None Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) I was going to say "Lewa doesn't still have a connection to the swarm, he's able to understand them"... but then I checked Makuta's Revenge and... Yeah. Turns out, the swarm's communication is telepathic. So Lewa is still connected to the swarm. Quote The thought slipped easily into Lewa’s mind. He shuddered slightly. Because of his experience with the krana, Lewa was the only Toa who could hear and understand the Bohrok’s communication. He still couldn’t get used to the fact that the swarms still had access to his mind, though it had certainly come in handy. As it is, assuming it didn't fade with time, I'm not sure Lewa would necessarily see it as something that needs to be removed, especially not after they came to realize the purpose of the Bohrok and ceased to be enemies with them. However, why let facts get in the way of an interesting idea for a fanfic? Of all the options you've presented, I'd suggest that having the Bahrag remove the link for Lewa would probably be best. Failing that, you'd probably want a Toa of Psionics to do the job - like when Onewa used his Mask of Mind Control to cure Matau of the influence of Nuurakh staffs in Voyage of Fear. Although, that bit of text still makes the nature of the connection somewhat ambiguous. It doesn't seem like Lewa is passively picking up all Bohrok communications, otherwise he would have "overheard" the Bohrok Va plotting with the Kal and the Queens. The phrasing of "the swarms still had access to his mind", makes it sound more like a one-way thing where his mind is more receptive/accessible to Bohrok telepathy, allowing them to communicate with him if they choose to. I think this lines up pretty well with what we've seen of psionics elsewhere in the story. If the Order of Mata Nui can train themselves to have stronger "mental defences", then it stands to reason that the opposite is true as well. Having been enslaved by both an Infected Mask and Krana on separate occasions, as well as being psionically attacked by the Bahrag, Lewa's mind is probably just weaker and more succeptible to telepaths. That might also explain why he was the only member of the Toa Nuva to receive additional instructions via a "weird voice" during the Scroll of Preparations arc, and why Artakha singled him out to body-swap with Tren Krom. If that's the case, then the "cure" for his "condition" would simply be to undergo the same kind of mental training Order members do. Sounds right to me. Probably something he could block out, if he wanted - especially since Turaga Onewa, at some point, taught the Toa Nuva something about shielding their minds. From Shadows in the Sky: Quote Fortunately, Turaga Onewa back on the island of Mata Nui had taught all the Toa Nuva something about shielding their minds from intrusion.
