The Island Of Pain

The Island of PainLet us not mince words. You are a slave. You have been plucked from whatever walk of life you once came from, and are now little more than a product. Our product. We are the Shepherds of Flesh. We own you.The years have been good to us. With the Great Spirit asleep there is no-one to rein in the Brotherhood of Makuta, or the Dark Hunters, or any other of the similar but lesser organisations.Like us.We are slavers and there are always openings for slaves. Be it in the foundries of Xia, or the wars of Zakaz, slaves are always in high demand. Perhaps you were travelling. Perhaps you were cast out. Perhaps you were on the run. It matters not. Our agents took you, contained you, delivered you to us. And then it was simply a matter of what to do with you.We think the Island of Pain. Oh yes, the Island of Pain should suit you well. Where every shadow is cast by a beast trying to eat you. Where every flash of colour is an enemy tying to kill you. Where we have a team whose sole purpose is to make you die in the most agonising way they can think of.Have fun.The RPGOh dear, it appears you've been captured by an organisation of ruthless slave-traders called the Shepherds of Flesh. And rather than send you to be a menial labourer or cannon-fodder, they have posted you off to their deadly island. Perhaps you were a bit hard to break, perhaps they're making an example of you, perhaps one of your enemies paid to have you sent there. Whichever. You are now on the so-called Island of Pain. And you are going to be hunted. For the Island of Pain is a game reserve of sorts. Apart from other slaves it is full of hazardous terrain and dangerous wildlife, along with the team sponsored by the Shepherds to hunt you down.Good luck.LocationsThe Island of Pain was artificially created by the Shepherds specifically for hosting their twisted games. It is roughly circular in shape and surrounded by a dome made of some kind of metallic shell to prevent slaves just swimming or flying away. The Shepherds sought to create as many different environments as possible to provide their 'guests' with a variety of combat scenarios.5233567998_6584871e82.jpgToothy Bane: A series of mountains and valleys on the island's southern side. Jagged and unforgiving, their icy peaks stretch high into the sky, gathering snow as though they were scraping it from the clouds themselves.Haven Cove: Nestled away in Toothy Bane is the Cove. It is a perfect little beach, flat, white sands and gentle waves. There is only one path leading to the Cove, leading many to think it is also the perfect defensive spot. Their remains tell a different story…Shadowtangle: A massive forest that covers half the island, fed by meltwater from the Bane mountains. The canopy of the trees blocks the light, turning the world below into a permanent realm of twilight. This place is infested with ravenous animals solely there to eat you.The Yawning Sunder: The Sunder is a massive chasm that spans the length of the island. It severed Shadowtangle in two, and as a result the side facing the forest is one colossal waterfall as the meltwater drains into the abyss. The echoes of this waterfall are supposed to sound like the yawns of a giant, hence the name.Stony Leap: The only permanent bridge across the Yawning Sunder, in contrast to the numerous lesser and temporary wooden bridges. It is a formidable and impressive construction, made of solid stone with metal reinforcement. The Parched Wastes: When the Yawning Sunder bisected Shadowtangle half the forest was cut off from the waters that sustained it. It withered and died, turning into a dry and dusty desert. The Shepherds merely adapted this into a new environment for combatants, creating buildings that were purposefully constructed to be ruins. Watch out for these ruins, as they often conceal oases. The Shimmering Maze: At first this appears to be a lake, a flat expanse of shimmering blue. Its position in the north-west of the Parched Wastes means it is often considered a mirage. It is in fact a deposit of diamond, vast and brilliant. The Shepherds have drilled down into the crystal, creating a labyrinth of glittering catacombsAshring: A semi-circle of volcanic terrain around the Parched Wastes and the Shimmering Maze, reaching around the northern half of the island. The skies are dark with noxious clouds, the air is filled with a brimstone stench and the ground burns and boils. There are often slow-moving patches of lava bubbling from beneath the crust.Dragon's Roost: The largest volcano in Ashring, lava and sulphurous vapours constantly pour forth from its gaping crater. The Shepherds can apparently make it erupt at will should they want to provide a challenge for those in the area. The Dome: Surrounding the island, preventing escape by sky or sea. It is made of an unknown substance not quite rock, metal or shell but somewhere in between. The Shepherds project images onto the inside of the dome; snippets of action, the location of caches, and a huge map of the island. It appears to be impregnable, but supplies have to get onto the island somehow. As does air. And the waters inside are still affected by tides. It seems there is hope for escape yet…EnemiesAs if the natural pitfalls and savage beasts weren't bad enough you will also have to contend with the minions of the ShepherdsObservers: Small and oval, rather like a metallic egg. A metallic egg with a massive camara lens for an eye, a propellor on the top for flight, and two sets of spindly extendable tentacles on either side. They buzz around the island recording the action, or noting where repairs are needed. They have no means of attacking and no defence other than running away, but there is no penalty attached to destroying them. So if one is trailing you, revealing your location to all, you are free to smash it.Caretakers: Robotic enforcers for the Shepherds, they are similar to the old Vahki units, but enhanced with Rahkshi parts scavenged from battlefields. They are sent out to plant caches, deliver rewards or carry out repairs. Their adjustments give them assorted Rahkshi powers, allowing them to defend themselves if necessary, though destroying a Caretaker will earn the displeasure of the ShepherdsTeam Patronage: An elite team of six Toa sponsored by the Shepherds to hunt down slaves, receiving extra weaponry and equipment as payment of sorts. Formerly slaves themselves they banded together into an efficient killing machine, and became an official part of the games. If you kill a member of the team you take their place, so the Shepherds will often reveal their locations on the map they project in case you wish to challenge oneCachesThe Shepherds want to give you a chance that is at least half-way fair, so they have their Caretakers plant caches randomly about the island. These can contain anything from a new weapon to medical supplies, and can prove most useful if you can find them. They may be revealed through an image, a placement on the map, or sometimes a riddle.ProfilesFill this in and wait for approval. NPCsCharacter Name: LaeliusSpecies: ToaGender: MaleAppearance: Stately-looking but actually somewhat shorter than average. His armour is more gold than red, kept perfect and shiny by his heat powers searing off grime. His mask appears to be a Pakari, the grills studded with small jewelsPowers: Fire elemental powersWeapons/Equipment: Jutlin, Great Mask of Corruption. A pair of Great Scissors, long protosteel blades affixed to each other with a hinge.Bio: The coward. Laelius was a general in a great and formidable Toa army, one renowned across the southern continent for its mighty victories against its foes. However Laelius faced a Vortixx warlord who was smarter than he was, and could see his army being routed and slaughtered. Rather than be killed or captured he fled, turning his back on his troops. He was picked up by the Shepherds while wandering a lonely road, a dusty and destitute beggar.

Character Name: Arillan

Species: Toa

Gender: Male

Appearance: Appears as a Metru-style Toa with dark green armor, slightly mixed up in a few places to help blend in with foliage. He also wears a black robe retrieved from a cache, and appears to wear a green Mask of Illusions.

Powers: Elemental Powers of Air. Specializes in Vacuums.

Weapons/Equipment: Kanohi Crast, the Great Mask of Repulsion. Kanohi Hau, the Great Mask of Shielding. Kanohi Garai, the Great Mask of Gravity. He carries a handmade bow from the Shadowtangle, along with a quiver holding 25 arrows with stone tips. He also has a Protosteel Tomahawk and a metal dagger.

Bio: Arillan was once a woodworker, specializing as a bowyer. As time passed, he grew bored of the job. When the Toa of his village died from poisoning, a tournament was to be held by the Matoran to choose his successor. Arillan stole the whole lot of Toa stones and used all of them at once. Because of his corrupt motives, his armor was twisted and his mask took on an immoral nature. His first kill – for sport, not necessity – came about a year later. He grew more and more corrupt over time, culminating in killing a Dark Hunter who stole his target. The Shadowed One ordered his capture, and the Shepherds of Pain took advantage by capturing him shortly after his final murder.

Arillan is a master archer, even with the poor quality bow he has been forced to make from scratch. He doesn’t like alliances, and would rather just kill everyone than deal with them. Not to say that he’s actively looking to murder as many people as he can. Just that he wishes they would all go away (aka die). One of his most dangerous targets was Laelius. He later attempted to kill Laelius again, but only succeeded in taking out Team Patronages former Toa of Air, and was unable to finish the job due to Caretaker intervention.

Character Name: JaxeniaSpecies: ToaGender: FemaleAppearance: The term armour really applies here. Jaxenia is covered in thick battle-armour, dull grey and heavily battle-scarred. Her mask appears to be a symbolic Hau, though it seems more like a helmet than an actual maskPowers: Water elemental powersWeapons/Equipment: Eypoxi, Great Mask of Suffocation. A long fishing rod she can use as a quarterstaff or unwind the reel to act as a barb-ended whip.Bio: The tyrant. Formerly a Chief of Police for a corrupted government on a small island. Jaxenia was personally responsible for the detainment and interrogation of those who did not show sufficient loyalty and devotion to the city-state. She grew in power and ruthlessness until finally the Matoran decided they wanted no more. There was a coup, and Jaxenia and her cohorts were driven out. Jaxenia herself was cast adrift on a raft with no supplies or way of steering. She was found half-starved by pirates and passed on to the ShepherdsCharacter Name: Blinding WhiteSpecies: ToaGender: MaleAppearance: His joints are ethereal and crystalline, coloured as they are translucent white. His armour is a shade of delicate snow-white. His mask has the semblance of a Matatu, draping over his head like mail with a lens staring darkly out at the worldPowers: Ice elemental powersWeapons/Equipment: Wocax, Great Mask of Blindness. Ice pickBio: The traitor. Blinding White never really got on with his old team. They squabbled and bickered, and never really got on with each other. Things were especially bad between Blinding White and the team leader, Blazing Red. Their conflict descended into physical blows in which Blazing Red and his fire powers came out on top. Humiliated and furious Blinding White waited until nightfall and murdered Blazing Red in his sleep. he chose to leave his village after that, no longer caring about it or seeing its as his responsibility. He was mugged on the road and found half-dead by the Shepherd's agents amidst the corpses of his assailants.Character Name: VertanSpecies: SkakdiGender: MaleAppearance: Vertan is clad in bright red, silver, and black armor. His head/spine is also red, and his eyes are scarlet. He has club-like hands that end in silver claws (shaped like Tyrant’s) and large feet (shaped like Gatherer’s) with three clawed toes, silver in color as well. Vertan also has this symbol tattooed on his right shoulder armor.Powers:-Fire elemental powers (in conjunction with another Skakdi)-Impact Vision-The unique ability to create and fire force bolts. He can also charge the bolts in his hands to make a bigger, stronger blast, though this process is rather slow.Weapons/Equipment:-A spiked, wooden club-Great Pigrit, Mask of Slowness (taken from Kuy'saz'ra)-clawsBio: Vertan was once a vicious warrior on Zakaz, often being one of the first combatants in battle. However, when the army he was fighting with lost, he was sold to the Shepherds by the enemy, mostly for being too destructive. They decided to put him on their island, where he could take out his aggression on other slaves. After killing the Toa Kuy'saz'ra he became a member of Patronage

Name: Okena (oh-KEHN-uh.)Species: Toa of Plant Life.Gender: Male.Appearance: Okena stands at the same height as a typical Toa, and has dark green eyes. Unlike most Toa of Plant Life, his armor is brown and dark green in appearance, designed to improve his ability to blend into the forest; in other areas, he relies on his mask to do the job for him. The armor on Okena's left arm is slightly bulkier than that of his right; the reason for this is that his left arm is mechanical, due to an accident while serving the Brotherhood of Makuta. However, the bulky armor has a secondary purpose as well, as a compartment within houses and hides his slingshot when it is not in use. He wears a leather belt around his waist; hung on this are several bags containing the ammunition for his slingshot, as well as a makeshift holster for his tomahawk.Powers:

  • [*]As a Toa of the Green, Okena can control, manipulate and create plant life in a variety of forms. An older Toa on top of being an assassin for most of his life, Okena is very precise and quick with his abilities; oftentimes those that attempt to get a jump on him will appear to succeed, only to be stopped by thorned vines shortly after... and then ripped apart by said vines once all is said and done.[*]His affiliation with the jungle and the Brotherhood has given him a vast knowledge of poisons and antidotes, as well as an impressive amount of information regarding Rahi and their various natures and abilities.[*]Due to experiments performed on him by the Brotherhood, Okena is an anaerobic being, and does not breathe like a normal person would. Instead, a device built into the back of his armor siphons sulfur and other electron acceptors from his environment and feeds them directly into his body, thus rendering his aim more stable. However, this forces him to rely heavily on the device for survival, as he can no longer breathe on his own; if it were to be damaged or destroyed, he would die soon after.

Equipment:

  • [*]A Brotherhood-grade composite slingshot, and a few bags on his belt each containing 40 metal marbles (made of the same material as Nostala's staff, and thus near-Protosteel in strength) for ammunition, each of them about half an inch in diameter. Packing a remarkable amount of force behind it, the slingshot is built into the armor on his left forearm and can be hidden inside of a compartment on it, and is capable of inflicting quite a bit of damage even over long distances.[*]Okena wears a scoped Kanohi Kova, Mask of Chameleon, allowing him to alter the colors and texture of his body to turn almost completely invisible in any terrain. He primarily uses it during his 'sniping' sessions as a way to keep himself from being detected; likewise, his scope aids him in aiming, especially from a long distance. The mask is shaped like a Mask of Rebounding.[*]When forced into close-range combat, the Sniper will resort to a handmade tomahawk, crafted from materials he has found on the Island of Pain. When not in use it can be found on his belt.[*]12 metal spears carried in a quiver on his back; gained from one of the four 'treasure hunt' caches.[*]A purple flag and an empty cache, from which Okena gained the aforementioned spears; used to set up traps for other slaves.[*]A Noble Kanohi Avsa, Mask of Hunger, given to him by Hexxon.[*]A Great Kanohi Sanok, Mask of Accuracy, taken from Rastaque's body.[*]A bag full of senbon (dual-tipped throwing needles) taken from Rastaque's body.

Biography: An efficient, intelligent and emotionless individual, Okena was once a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta's primary army, operating as an assassin for them whenever they required the execution of their enemies. Okena was somewhat famous among his fellow officers for his effectiveness on the field; rumors stated that he could do anything from crush a small rebellion single-handed, to plant a head shot on a Fikou Spider from two hundred feet away using his rifle. After several decades under the Brotherhood's service, Okena volunteered for an experimental program that aimed to create more efficient soldiers; it resulted in the nullification of his ability to feel remorse and other emotions, as well as rendered him a better sniper by removing his need to actively breathe.Soon afterward, the Sniper defected, seeing no further reason to operate under the group. This resulted in a bounty being placed on his head. After several unsuccessful attempts at capturing the Toa of Plant Life, a pair of bounty hunters managed to ambush and defeat him; after being returned to the Brotherhood, Okena was handed over to the Shepherds to participate in their operations as punishment for his actions. Became a member of Team Patronage after killing Jontan

Trian and Felix/Parched Wastes\IC: Trian turned toward the familiar voice, and there was her friend coming towards them! Felix pounced upon Zan'toral and began licking his face, though he was forced to get off by his master. "Zan! Great Beings be praised! So you are alive after all. Well, then, what shall we do now?"

Jontan and Rastaque/Shadowtangle\IC: Jontan threw a punch after Oura, but was unnable to hit his target. He turned with a snarl and leaped out at Reya, flying over the fist of water. He brought both arms together and down toward her with crushing force. Not one to stand still, Rastaque deftly flipped off the branch and grasped another, throwing a few more needles at his off balance attacker. He was received messages of pain from one of his ankles and realized that it had been pushed a bit to far with that feat. Cursing his clumsiness, the assassin dropped into thicker foliage and swung himself back into the shadows to give himself a short rest.

Previous ''Greel post'' converted to this: IC: Shadowtangle Immediately after Plagia finished her question, Greel spoke up, eager to start. ''We believe that the ones who built it are slaves - slaves that wish to block the only safe way across the chasm. That is something we cannot allow, for we will all be stuck on this side of the island, with hungry, ravenous Rahi and dangerous mountains. A plan has been formed between us, one that can succeed with all our powers combined. Especially yours, Rynekk, because that fortress is composed of metal. Would you two like to hear the plan?'' he asked in his eerie voice. From behind, the Rock Lion growled, his eyes shifting toward another direction. He then turned in that direction, growling still. And that was when the arrow came... IC: Shadowtangle Reya swung her arms of compacted water up to block Jontan's hands of sand. If she defected his attack, then she would bring her plan into action. It was time to end this, and she hoped Oura and Petra were ready to run. IC: Ashring/Parched Wastes The crimson and vermillion-armored being known as Hexxon walked through the hazardous region of Ashring. He coughed the volcanic smoke out of his lungs and tried keeping his tall form low to the ground, for the sky here was filled with the awful pollutant. It wasn't better down there, however, as its rocky surface was hot and rivers of scarlet lava flowed past him. Hexxon squinted his eyes to see an enormous amount of sand a short distance away. Grateful to leave the volcanic area, he utilized the power of his Kualsi to teleport to the slightly less dangerous region of the Parched Wastes. This is better, Hexxon thought. Much better. He was ready to teleport again, but stopped. No, others might see me, and that will bring unwanted company. It would be safer to hide, and teleporting will safe me energy, time, and lessen tracks. With that plan, Hexxon used his power of Psionics to disguise his presence from all others, making it seem like he wans't there at all, and then teleported to the farthest place in his vision. IC: Ashring The tall and mighty Skakdi named Vertan stood on the sloping ground on Dragon's Roost, his eyes scanning the land below. However, he didn't see much as the air was filled with black clouds. Grunting, he moved further up the great volcano. One might call him insane for moving around in such a horrible place, but he was perfectly fine being around here. Fire and heat - his element, which allowed him to survive in such hostile enviroments like this one. Flames burst from small openings, sulfuric gas spewed from the volcano's crater, heat emanated from the ground, and smake floated by him. But Vertan still moved toward Ashring's most prominent feature.

Jontan/Shadowtangle\IC:As physics would happen to work, compacted sand was a fair sight more dense than compacted water. When thus said sand, in its hardened and compacted state, slams into said water, it would penetrate and crush whatever was beneath. Nevertheless, Reya's being more fresh in this fight and thus having more general energy, was able to keep Jontan's blow from being severe. Still, he was now on top of her, attempting to beat her into the ground while tearing her flesh to bits.

IC: Levacius / Along the southwestern coast Rarely was it that any being on the island got to sleep. Stirring from his three hour rest, he walked over to where their ship had been in progress. He and his companions had finished the basic structure, and most of the furnishings. Fine draperies? No, of course not - though, if he found them in a cache, he wouldn't mind.He took out his protosteel rapier, and frowned. He had tried working with it, but despite its enormous worth, he still didn't consider it as great of a weapon as a wide bladed sword. Still, it could pierce the normal, unarmored forms of most inhabitants. Anything protosteel was good. The ship was waiting just along the shore. They had to finish putting up the rest of the structure. Taking a rusty axe they had found with a dead matoran, he began hacking at a piece of wood. The weapon was of no use in combat, but sure was good with the small grove they had found. And as the first one up, he had dibs on it. IC: Sledge / the Parched Wastes As Qayzaf thrust his staff, Sledge tried to conjure up a wall of iron. Without any elemental powers in him at the moment, he failed completely. The staff strike didn't pierce his armor, but knocked him to the ground. Groaning, Sledge tried to tap into his mask. At least that worked, and the damage to his armor repaired quickly. Unable to stand up in the heavy plating, however, he was forced to absorb parts of his armor. Of course, that gave him the elemental power to, as he rolled to his side and stood up, create a dozen of iron caltrops that he hurled towards his 'friends' feet, hoping he might step on them when he charged. Pulling out his smiths hammer, he demanded, "What in Mata-Nuis name are you doing!?" IC: Arillan / Shadowtangle Arillan grimaced. What a nasty beast. He would enjoy displaying its head in his little desert fortress if he decided to come back.He considered. He had enough ammo and weapons to take out a small army. But they likely did to. Taking out another arrow, he steadied his aim. Letting lose his arrow, he watched as it streaked forward to Greel just as he turned his head to his companion. The lion, he figured, would save its master from the arrow, giving him time to readjust his position. He didn't care. He had no hatred of these people. They were just an excuse to kill. He prepared to move, in the even that the creature attacked or went after the arrow. IC: Irriane / Stony Leap The toa of fire looked around. In the corner of her eye, she saw specks of beings at the edge of the forest. Who could they be? What could they possibly want?Hopefully they were friendly. IC: Suicavel / Shadowtangle Suicavel skulked through Shadowtangle. He considered going after the fools near stony leap, blocking the way. But no, that was unwise. Too many. Plus, he had seen others coming. A large battle would take place. He stopped. Large battles meant great feeding. He only had to wait for the fall of total darkness. -Toa Levacius Zehvor

IC Klax - Stony Leap/Fort - Fighting : Klax looked over to the Toa of fire that had been helping them in their fight. "What are you doing? We're still fighting here," he said, looking over at their opponents. IC Oura - Shadowtangle - Fighting: Oura ran towards Jontan, slashing at him from behind with his sword. His attack was blocked, however, but that didn't stop him from slashing at the Toa. OOC: I'm starting to hate all this fighting. -Oura

OOC: Seriously? I hope you've thought this through. If you want him to die, I will mercilessly loot you as befitting the True Neutral alignment. IC: Sledge / Parched Wastes Sledge stood up. "Don't need me? You barely even used me? Am I unaware of something entirely?"He considered the gauntlet. No, this wasn't that desperate of a situation. He had no idea that reserves of power it had, and he had already used it quite a bit. Straining it would not be a good idea. Hefting his hammer, he said, "So be it!" and charged forward. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

OOC: @ The True Zedd of Ponypower: Profiles need to be posted in the profile topic for approval. ;) IC: Reya; Shadowtangle Reya, struggling to avoid death, twisted her body. With Jontan being so close to her, she could make use of the many spikes of varying size on her armor to penetrate Jontan's own armor. Plus, she had the attacking Oura on her side. Now she was preparing another attack; gathering all the concentration that she could, Reya increased the size of her arms and threw them out to hurl Jontan and make good distance between them. IC: Greel; Shadowtangle Instantly the Rock Lion's mane burst into flames and incinerated the arrow meant to kill Greel. He wanted to lunge after this new foe, kill, and then eat him. Though the Rahi never got the chance, as Greel had noticed his power at use and froze his mighty steed in a telekinetic lock. Easy there, Greel thought. Then, thinking someting might be wrong, unleashed his Rhotuka to prevent another attack on him. Freeing his pet from his power, Greel jumped on his back and restrained the Lion with the reins he made earlier. The Rock Lion's mane returned to normal, and he began using his heightened senses to find this hidden prey while moving around slowly the dense foliage. Meanwhile, Greel motioned to his partners to be on alert. IC: Hexxon; Parched Wastes By using his Mask of Power, Toa Hexxon had travled great distances in mere seconds. This also meant that he had only used several seconds worth of Elemental energy, which made him happy. It did not take long to notice a group of individuals standing a short distance away. Still shielded by his powers and atop a large dune, Hexxon watched them closely. Two appeared to be fighting eachother, another, clad in the colors of purple and brown, was accompainied by what appeared to be a Muaka, and the last one conversed with the purple and brown-colored figure. He reached out with his hands, quickly scanning their minds with telepathy. Hexxon was rewarded by a brief update of events they experienced on the island. The one that stood out the most to him was a Toa of Iron named Sledge, formerly a smith for the Shepherds and now possessed both a bounty on his head and a tool called the ''Nynrah Gauntlet''. It intrigued Hexxon very much. What could I do with a weapon like that? I have none now, and perhaps I could try and get this tool and bounty to enpower myself... Using his mental powers again, the Psionics Toa thought up a realistic illusion to place upon all the slaves and Rahi below. In it, they would see the very ground collapse into quicksand. The entire desert would appear to morph into a sea of the stuff. They would all scream and stuggle to find stable land and maybe even think this must be the work of the Shepherds, he was sure... all except Sledge. He would be unaffected by it. But he would appear in it with the others. Ready, Hexxon sent the mental energy towards their minds, and then slid down the back of the dune so that they would not see him, and proceeded to deactivate his shielding ability.

IC: Nostala was, needless to say, quite annoyed at the newcomer's arrival, especially considering she suddenly felt as if she had been frozen in place for a few months. The new distraction definitely wasn't welcome in her mind. Gripping her Protosteel bow staff tightly, she scanned the trees. "I can explain the plan more thoroughly in a moment," she said quietly to Rynekk and Plagia. "Especially since I came up with it. But yes, as Greel said, if you two -- especially you, Rynekk -- are willing to help, then this may turn out to be easier than we thought."

IC: Arillan / Shadowtangle Arillan had himself readied for the perfect shot. Aiming at Plaiga now, his arrow would never come within three Bio of the Rock Lion, which was facing the wrong direction anyways. But before he could let the arrow go, he began to feel... doubt. Depression. What was he doing? But then, nothing. Not even that. His body turned limp, and his arms dropped. Eyes glazed over, he fainted to the ground. After what felt like eons, though it had only been seven seconds, his eyes flickered back, and he looked up into the eyes of a four legged, toa-like monstrosity. It chuckled, saying, "Sorry to leave you like this, but if I have to flee, I'll need your energy. Stay here, and don't try to run. I'll gut you in an instant." It looked up. "Now go to sleep" it said. Arillan felt the tug of his energy being drained again, and then everything went black. IC: Suicavel / Shadowtangle Suicavel looked forward. Shadowy tendrils surrounded him as he climbed up one of the trees, spear at the ready and all four legs out. He stared down at Greels group, darting his eyes across its members. Each one of them he tugged on a little bit with his mask, draining a small portion of each ones energy. Not enough to weaken, just enough to put them on the alert. So the fear fest could soon begin. He certainly hoped nothing terribly bad happened to his back up plan at the bottom of the tree. IC: Irriane / Stony Leap Irriane rubbed her hands together, opening her palm to summon a small flame. Pulling out a piece of metal from her arm, she immediately cauterized it. "I dunno, Klax." she said. "Could anyone have survived that dome trap? Besides, we're safer behind the fort walls. We need to get in their and clear enemies."Approaching, she used her mask to channel energy into his wounds. Thinking of her medical training, she saw the necessary treatments. They immediately went into effect, and the wounds on Klaxes body vanished. "But where is Frag?" she asked, this time out loud. IC: Sledge / Parched Waste Sledge raised his hammer to strike... and his adversary stopped movement. Puzzled, Sledge looked around to see the mass effect had occured on all besides him. His 'friend' was completely motionless. Looking around, he went through the possibilities. What could have happened? Hammer at the ready, he looked around. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

IC: Greel; Shadowtangle The Rock Lion stopped. Greel paused. Both felt something wrong was happening again. His pet was already sensing another; the first one to attack was nearby, and the new arrival was somewhere... There! The Rock Lion moved in the direction of Suicavel slowly, his mane warming with heat. Greel was preparing too. Judging from his Rahi's behavior, either someone else was here, or the attacker was very close. Whichever was the case, Greel moved away from the Lion's mane and leaned closer him. He had a theory: his currently active Rhotuka moved around him and darted forward to halt an attack; maybe if he stayed very close to his pet, the wheel of energy would circle him too. But Greel wasn't so certain, and so began scanning his surroundings with his eyes to get a look at whoever was around. IC: Hexxon; Parched Wastes Hexxon had slid far enough down so that his entire body was hidden. Now it was to get his prizes. Reaching out with his mind, the Psionics Toa mentally spotted Sledge with telepathy. With the knowledge of where he was, Hexxon focused his telekinetic power on the Toa, planning to pull him into the air and reel Sledge towards him behind the dune. Once there, Hexxon would claim his rewards.

IC: Suicavel / Shadowtangle Greel and the rock lion suddenly vanished. In fact, everything did; all the rest of his group saw was the forest in front of them turn pitch black. But no sound. A flurry of shadow bolts flew at Greel and his companion, but shadow bolts, you see, do not make sounds... IC: Sledge / Parched Wastes What Hexxon had not prepared for was Sledges uncanny talent of metal. Using his iron powers, he had already felt the small amount of metal making a toas body, and that which was worn by Hexxon. No, he could not control it. He doubted anyone could control a toa using iron powers. But he knew where he was. As Sledge was picked up he created a javelin of iron using his elemental powers and hurled it where he felt his enemy was. Hidden under the sand, Hexxon was unseen; but as iron has no mind of its own, he could not sense its thoughts. But if iron could think, it was probably thinking "Stab" Sledge blocked off his thoughts. He couldn't use an Order members talents, but he could at least jumble his mind. And hope the javelin pierced the thin layer of sand over his opponent. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

Jontan and Rastaque/Shadowtangle\IC:

Jontan grunted as he rolled off to avoid being impaled, which inevitably left Reya and Oura attacking each other. Deciding to take advantage of this fact, the hybrid Toa caused the sand surrounding both to rise up and clench around them. It might not be much, but it would give him a few extra seconds. Jontan quickly melded into the shadows, finding Rastaque not that far away. Said Toa was busy binding his ankle to keep it from getting worse. With a nod he stood and got ready to begin throwing more needles at their enemies, if they were still standing.

OOC: This battle is over that joint cache thing, right?

Trian and Felix/Parched Wastes\IC:

Trian and Felix had noticed that their companions suddenly weren't chummy anymore. They were about to step in when the sand underneath them became far less upholding than it was. "What the - Augh!" Trian yelled as she quickly sunk deeper. Experience in hearing about quicksand told her not to struggle, to try to find some way out. This way out presented itself as Felix, or at least would have if the muaka weren't running away. For, to him, the quicksand followed him no matter how far his light footed running took him. It didn't take long for Trian to realize that Felix and she seeing the quicksand in different places was a bit odd. Realizing that this likely meant that it was some kind of illusion, she focused her mind on trying to escape. She also felt the need to mentally tell Felix to stop running.

OOC: @ ToD: It is indeed. IC: Reya; Shadowtangle Reya couldn't stand it anymore. She tried her best not to hit Oura, and decided to go out with her plan. Using a large amount of her power, the Water Toa unleashed a huge wave of water the swept the sand away, icluding the wall. She felt something hit her armor, and if she had the time, she would have noticed Rastaque's needles deflected by her spikes. Now she focused on all the water and moisture she had created, and willed it to change state. A massive and very thick fog exploded around Reya, filling the air and a small portion of Shadowtangle with mist. She hoped Oura and Petra would act, because this was their escape. Reya ran at high speeds through the jungle and away from the site of their battle. All vision was obscured by the fog, so Reya had no way of telling where things were, causing her to impact with several trees and bushes. But she kept on running. IC: Greel; Shadowtangle Indeed, shadows do not make sound, but that didn't stop Greel's Rhotuka. He never knew if his theory was right, because he couldn't see. The red wheel of energy/gases, which slightly lit up the darkness, rocketed forwards, consuming the Shadow bolts and ending their threats to Greel. The Rock Lion had enough. His mane glowed bright with heat and fire, revealing the team's surroundings. Greel took advantage of the situation to telekinetically grab a stick on the forest floor. He caught in his hand and touched his pet's mane with it. Crimson flames appeared on it, and Greel waved it around to see more of the darkened forest. This blackness was not natural, so something nearby must of caused it. He had the Rock Lion use his sense of smell to find Suicavel. Greel again motioned to his partners to the direction of the enemy. OOC: Hexxon was never under the sand; he slid down the side opposite to Sledge's group until he couldn't be seen and stayed there. IC: Hexxon; Parched Wastes Unfortunately for Sledge, Hexxon wasn't under the sand at all. No, he stood there and watched as his enemy tossed the newly created tool, and as it flew towards him. It stopped suddenly in midair as Hexxon caught it with telekinesis. Smirking, The Toa of Psionics used his telekinetic power further, bringing Sledge down to the ground with surprising speed. But before he even touched the dune's sloping side, he was brought up again a few feet in the air, and then roughly tossed behind Hexxon in a twirling fashion. He cut off his telekinesis on Sledge, causing the Toa to fall towards the ground. Not really harmed but probably dazed. Now Hexxon would need to rely on the sheer heaviness that came with Sledge's thick armor, and began preparing his mental energies for his next move before Sledge would get up... And in the case his partners freed themselves from his illusion, there were no tracks to follow to find Sledge, thanks to Hexxon's telekinesis. OOC: And I think I'm done for now. I'll be back tomorrow for more role playing.

OOC: Misunderstood. IC: Sledge / Parched Wastes Sledge crashed into the ground. He steadied his mind, calming himself. Large dents in his armor began to repair thanks to his mask. Channeling his elemental powers, he caused a storm of iron shards to fly from his hand. In total, it was only a couple pounds of metal; only about 3% of his power was there. But as fast, razor sharp, and numerous as they were, it would serve its purpose - distracting. He had fought psionicists before. The trick was to distract them, then move in and finish them on. Jumping up, he charged forward with his hammer at the ready. IC: Suicavel / Shadowtangle Suicavel hurled seven bolts of shadow - two at the lion, two at Greel, two at a bush, and one last one at a tree. Three distractions. Using the shadows, he transported himself through the gloom to directly behind the Rock Lion. From point blank range, he unleashed almost ten percent of his shadow power in a single, massive blast. OOC: Last post as well. -Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

OOC: So what happened to the one you guys had?

Jontan and Rastaque/Shadowtangle\IC: Jontan, his blood lust barely under control, forced himself to focus on the cache. Where was the half the enemy had? The hybrid-toa, undaunted by the mist, peered through the surrounding forest for a discarded package, or to see if it was in possession of one of the enemy. Rastaque, meanwhile, knew the exact position of their half. After checking on its position (shoved in a small gap between some roots in thick foliage), he turned back to the chase, using his prey's mist against them. Of course, their stumbling didn't fully make up for his ankle, but he did his best to keep up, just in case they had the cache half. He kept flinging mask guided senbon at their retreating forms.

Trian and Felix/Parched Wastes\IC: Trian broke free from the illusion with small effort, and was able to get Felix back and under control. Either this attacker was inept, or he was distracted. Judging by the needles that flew out from the dune a short distance away, she had a strong feeling it was the latter. "Come, Zan!" she called as she jerked her likely dazed ally up onto Felix with her, and they burst off toward the battle.

IC - Nostala - Shadowtangle: This again!? The thought shot through Nostala's head like a Muaka at the sight of a helpless Matoran. She had to quickly adjust to the situation as each event happened -- first she was blind, then she could see through the shadows via the light of the Rock Lion and Greel's torch. Another moment later, a very familiar being appeared behind the lion, quickly launching a blast of shadow energy as he did. Nostala's blood boiled with irritation at the sight of Suicavel. Launching herself forward, she swung her staff at the creature's midsection, putting as much strength into the swing as she could, while being careful to make it so that the weapon wouldn't hit the lion or Greel if Suicavel teleported.Considering she was an Artanian, that was quite a bit of pain headed towards the shadow beast.

IC: Qayzaf: Parched Wastes: Qayzaf's mental istability couldn't hold any longer. His brain failed and he died. IC: Beretta: Shadowtangle: Beretta put her hand gently on her back, closed her eyes, and fragmented her spine. She died. IC: Xiphos: Stony Leap: Xiphos heard fighting outside and ran out to see what was happening. Klax and a Toa of Fire were fighting four toa. Good, now there is four of them, Xiphos thought as he materialized a javelin at Ventis IC: Orssa: Parched Wastes: Orssa looked through the bushes. Nostala, Plaigia, and Rynekk were disscussing something. He pushed his way through the foliage towards them. He lowered the weapon to show no hostility. "Who are you, and where are we?" Orssa croaked at the threesome. OOC: If you're wondering why I kiled Q and B, I just wanted them out because of their apparent annoyance to me.

-==IC: Kairan/Shadowtangle==- Kairan frowned, as he realized exactly what was going on when the shadows fell around him; given that they'd been attacked at least once already that day. Kairan gripped his sword, and raised an eyebrow as the flames illuminated the area, and smiled.Why didn't I think of that? Kairan mused mentally, and then dashed forward, as he gripped his sword with both hands, but prepared for the creature to dodge from Nostala's attack. OOC: Sorry it took so long, but another person is here as backup, now. =P/EDIT: Forgot to add the location name, I see. >>;

OOC: @ ToD: Reya had her cache the whole time. And Jontan and Rastaque couldn't see in the fog. A normal fog cloud is tough to see in; this one is huge and meant to block all visibility. Rastaque would be smashing into things too if he followed them, and all the plant matter around would deflect his needles. IC: Shadowtangle Reya continued to rush through the forest, all the while holding onto her cache. With no way to see, she had stumbled on some roots a little ways back, and bumped into another tree. But she wouldn't stop until she was a good distance from the thick mist. IC: Shadowtangle Both the Rock Lion and Greel were knocked back by the Shadow bolts, and then again by Suicavel's Darkness blast. However, this had only angered Greel's pet even more. His fiery mane increased in temperature and glowed white-hot. Now he detected his foe again with his senses, and shot forward. Suicavel was in an unfortunate position now: being so close to the Rock Lion, the incrediably bright light emanating from his mane probably blinded the shadowy creature, something which he was vulnerable to. Also, he had the lion's extremely sharp claws coming at him while Nostala, Kairan, and Orssa moved in with their attacks. IC: Parched Wastes Before Sledge's eyes, Hexxon vanished from sight via his Kualsi, reappearing soundlessly a good distance behind him. He worked with the advantages he had: the element of surprise and the power of Psionics. He had sensed the others coming, but he wasn't too worrid about that right now. Head over the dune and they risk getting hit by both Sledge and his attacks. Hexxon releashed the built up Elemental energy, and it came out in a reasonably-sized blast of mental force... all of it directed at Sledge's vulnerable mind. It would take a lot more than his ''thought jumbling'' to stop this mental attack of mind control, proper mental shielding was needed. In fact, once it touched his mind, he'd have no will to fight it back...

OOC: Sorry 'bout being missing for so long. IC: Rynekk - Shadowtangle Suicavel. Him again. The one who had nearly killed Plagia. At this point, Rynekk had no time for plans. Suicavel would die, and it would be at his hand. In one swift motion, Rynekk hurled his largest blade at Suicavel, imbedding it a few inches from his hand. "Remember me?" -Void

OOC: Were you talking to me? IC: Zodian summouned a gigantic wave of water from yawning sunder, and sent it crashing down where Klax, and Irraine stood. Zodian stopped the water from coming into the dome, so it washed over them and they were protected. The water cooled the dome down, and Ventis absorbed it with a touch.Suddenly, a javelin shot towards them. Ventis created a shield of protosteel, and blocked it. Sacoran reminded them about the plan, and they started running into the sandowtangle.

OOC: @ Emissary: Not a problem. ;) IC: Ashring Vertan was nearly at the top of Dragon's Roost when he spotted a lone figure a little ways down the slope. It was hard to make out details on the being, because of the dark smoke all around, but the shape was definately familiar. Rahkshi. The Skakdi of Fire let out a growl. Rahkshi were the sevants of the Makuta, and the Makuta were the ones that caused madness on Zakaz with their experiments. While Rahkshi hadn't been common on his homeland like the Visorak guards, Vertan still knew that one Rahkshi could be a challenge. He also knew they were they ''sons'' of Makuta, and what better way to get revenge than to kill one of their own creations? Unlimbering his spiked club, Vertan charged down toward his enemy bellowing, ''For Zakaz!'' OOC: That would be Shanrahk. :)

IC: Suicavel / Shadowtangle Suicavel did not expect such a strong attach. The staff strike nearly snapped his back, and the light that the rock lion was, though not weakening like that of the sun, still extremely painful. Barely having a chance, he sensed one of the shadows outside of his dome. Transporting there, he began panting. "I'll give them credit. They were not unprepared. But next time, I won't make the mistake of showing myself so soon." The pain was terrible. But he would live, which is more than he could say for his former victim. IC: Arillan / Shadowtangle Arillan crawled away as swiftly as he could, but keeping silence as well. His strength was returning, and he had managed to escape without even the rock lion detecting him.He would need easier prey next time. IC: Irriane / Stony Leap The water buffeted Irriane away and onto her back. She growled, and looking at Zodian, she shouted, "You incompetent fool! You keep doing that and you'll weaken the structural integrity of the whole bridge! We'll have no way to get across the island!" IC: Levacius / Cove in Toothy Bane Levacius placed the last piece of the ship into place. He smiled. "Soon, we'll have the ultimate transport around the island. Off it? Maybe not yet. After we've raided enough caches, we'll leave with our new riches. This could be a good monopoly for us..." "Don't you think?" he asked, turning to his companions. Turning back, he shouted, "I dub you the Griffon II, successor to the first. One day, I will be the greatest sea captain to every live once more. Until then, however..." He smiled. "This will do. This will do just fine." IC: Sledge / Parched Wastes Sledge was surprised, but a smirk went over his face knowing the limits of a Kualsi, he used his elemental power to create a thin dome of protosteel around his opponent, taking away his line of sight. He charged forward when the psychic blast hit him, sending him falling to the ground. Still, he had gone through things as painful as this before. Standing up, he threw himself into a self imposed rage and charged forward, ready to remove the dome when he got to his enemy. -Toa Levacius Zehvor :flagusa:

-==IC: Kairan/Shadowtangle==-Kairan frowned, as he saw the being transport away once more."That guy sure is persistent..." Kairan muttered, as he looked around, still cautious, as he knew that wouldn't be the last they saw of him, and he'd likely be back in a little while."So, what now? Do we start our plan, or finish telling it, or what?" Kairan asked, having accidentally stopped paying attention for a brief moment before Suicavel attacked.

IC: Shadowtangle With Suicavel and Arillian gone, the Rock Lion lowered himself to the ground, a little tired from the fight. His mane returned to normal, and Greel extinquished his torch. The teal-armored being felt proud. They had done it: defeated a monster that had hurt them, but now as a single group. He jumped off his pet's back and looked at him. He had done so well. It was time to name him. ''We shall call him Rocky.'' Greel said to the group. He then turned to Kairan and said, ''Well, now that they're gone, let's dicuss the plan... after we know who he is.'' he said pointing to Orssa. OOC: @ Levacius: I'm a little confused here. Did Sledge create that dome before or after Hexxon teleported? If is was before, how would Sledge have known Hexxon was wearing a Kualsi? It would be the first time he saw him use it too, plus the teleport is instant. There would not have been enough time to imprison him. If it was after, how would Sledge have known where Hexxon was before he unleashed his power? Also, that Psionic blast was of mind control, so when it hit Sledge, it would have put him under Hexxon's power, not knocked him down. IC: Ashring ''Death to the Makuta!'' Vertan yelled back as he ducked under the blast and shot forward.

IC - Nostala - Shadowtangle: Nostala smiled as her attack connected, pushing away a moment later and coming to a spinning halt. From the light that the Rock Lion was projecting, she could see that Suicavel was gone -- again."He's losing his touch already," she said, planting the end of her staff on the ground and pushing herself to her feet. "Shame." She looked at the rest of the group, smiling. "Nice work; maybe it is possible to form a working group in this prison... Perhaps more current introductions are in order?"
