I recently discovered that Cryoshell's album was released worldwide in physical format a few months back. I went and searched on Amazon for the album, and found it, but one of the reviews contained a warning that caught my attention:

All ten songs on this album are excellent and well-deserving of your money. Cryoshell is a very talented group and deserve much more attention than they are getting. However, I am near 99.999% certain that this version of the Physical Album is Fake. When I got this in the mail, there was no booklet that resembles the "Digital Booklet" that came with the iTunes version of this album, and it had no logos of Advance or any other business that has any affiliation with Cryoshell. Plus, the blue-rectangle colour scheme on the covers tells me that this is fake. DO NOT buy this CD, you're better off buying it off of iTunes or waiting until a legitimate physical version is released.

Looking at the album cover, I can see part of the person's point:516t3%2BZT8dL._SL500_AA300_.jpgThe blue line on it does look somewhat suspicious. In addition, there is a notice from Amazon saying that the album is "manufactured on demand". You can read that notice here.So what I'd like to know is, can someone confirm for me whether or not what the person was saying in the review is true? I want to be sure I'm getting something official before I purchase it.Thanks.

It's true. Amazon gets the permission of record labels and artists to manufacture CD-Rs of rare albums, typically by foreign artists, and sell them. Although I never bought the Cryoshell CD like this I've experienced it before with other artists. The quality is always really cheap and sub-par, and not worth the money at all.To my knowledge, Cryoshell's debut album has yet to be released worldwide in a legitimate physical CD form. The "legal bootleg" that Amazon peddles is the only option aside from having it imported. Honestly, this is a case where I'd advise just sticking with iTunes.

Are you sure that it hasn't been officially released? I've seen several websites (including Wikipedia) that say that the CD was released worldwide on February 10. Granted, this could either be untrue, or it could be the date the bootleg was released on Amazon.Anyway, call me stubborn, but I'm going to keep looking for a legit physical version. I like iTunes, but this is one of those cases where I'd rather have an actual CD if possible.

I did some searching of my own just last month and had no luck in locating the physical CD through any domestic retailers, aside from imports and Amazon's CD-R.If you look at the information section for the CD-R, it does say the release date is February 10, 2012 so that seems to be what the supposed "worldwide release" refers to.And that's understandable, I vastly prefer physical albums to digital as well.
