vataki Posted October 15, 2011 Share Posted October 15, 2011 Sonic games used to be cool and stuff, but then they started adding unnecessary characters (like Shadow, Rouge, Cream, Silver, Big, basically every character introduced since Sonic Adventure) then the storyline (and sometimes the game-play) got pretty lame. Sonic Rush and Sonic Advance series are pretty good, though. Storyline could be improved in some (especially the first Sonic Rush), but good game-play. Classic games are definitely my favorites. Surprisingly, I didn't hate sonic 4. Though I couldn't get into the 3D sonic games. But I agree with Vakhi. I hate almost all of the characters apart from sonic, knuckles, robotnik (not eggman ), and tails. (2003 for me)I'd love to get Generations, but I don't have a 360, PS3, or 3DS. (don't know why I'd want it on 3DS anyways) Iwas happy that it was coming for the PC, but I guess it never went through, to my dismay. Looks promising, compared to *cough* the previous games that failed to promise, hopefully this doesn't repeat the same cycle for new Sonic games again, but it really looks like it shouldn't.Can't wait to get the Sonic CD re-release, you should've seen my reaction when I saw it coming with the Japanese soundtrack, but I hope they are implenting an option between the American and Japanese soundtracks, not like I've grew up with the American soundtrack or anything, (I don't even have a SEGA CD) but I know everybody else who grew up with the US soundtrack would like it. Every game after 06 was a steady improvement, until it actually became fairly decent with Unleashed, the legitimately good with Colours. Generations looks better, is made by a person who is actively averting the Sonic Cycle, and has been called good things by sites that usually bash Sonic.Also, the demo was great.IMO, a lot of them just don't serve any purpose to the story. Joke's over, right? His fishing levels were OK, I guess. I don't know why they didn't let us get Froggy simply by picking him up, though. So many times I would've caught Froggy by hand, but they WANTED me to fish. And I suck at fishing. Silver's good. He's pointless with the Iblis Trigger, thing, but I like him otherwise. But then there were games like Sonic Unleashed that just ruined the series for me. Colors was decent, but Sonic has been headed downhill since the Dreamcast died. The first Sonic game I have played since I am only 11 is Sonic Riders.My first was actually Sonic 1, but my first notable one was Sonic Heroes. But the first Sonic game I actually KNEW, that was Sonic Adventure 2, which led to my obsession and eventual acquisition of Sonic 2 (via Sega Smash Pack 2. Oh, how I miss Comix Zone). Really, it was the music that got me into Sonic. I have fond memories listening to the Live and Learn instrumental remixes on repeat. I still do...sometimes... By the way, what platform is everyone getting Generations on? Lots of things like Sonic Plushies and music CD's. The main attraction, however, is a DLC pinball game that can be gotten by preordering at Gamestop. Remember Sonic 06?I for one really like Sonic 06, partially because you had several characters with different abilities without it being a genre-roulette like SA1 and SA2. However, Generations combines the awesomeness of the adventure level designs and Colors gameplay (minus wisps,) for the modern levels, and captures the theme of the classics in glorious HD, along with allowing older levels to be played with the modern formula and visa versa, along with somewhat-remade versions of levels in their respective gameplay (like modern rooftop run and classic sky sanctuary.) This game is amazing, and assuming Super Sonic is playable in all stages like in Colors, and they have another chao garden, let's say I'm going to play this game more than all the other sonic games combined. Makuta Matata Posted October 17, 2011 Author Share Posted October 17, 2011 I really liked Unleashed, Both day and night.The day had speedy, reflex-based gameplay, which gives you a huge sense of speed, which is what Sonic is all about.The night stages, on the other hand, were fighter stages, and they had heavy platforming also.And the graphics were nice for both. Also, a new demo for Sonic Generations is coming on the 19th in Europe on XBLA and PSN (Only XBLA in NA), and it's coming to PSN on the 25th in NA.
