Mass Effect: Division

Many thousands of years ago an old culture struggled against an ancient enemy.

They were the Protheans. Their adversaries were the Reapers. The Reapers were a machine race that “harvested” advanced races and stored the races in the form of a Reaper every 50 thousand years. The Old Machines were all the harder to defeat because of Indoctrination, an insidious process that makes the victim serve the Reapers. Indoctrinated agents sabotaged many Prothean attempts at survival, including one to plant 1 million Prothean warriors to survive the primary invasion.

Just when the Protheans thought all was lost, they completed a device. One that dated back to the first civilization harvested by the Reapers.

The Protheans realized that the Catalyst, the last part they needed, was the Citadel, a space station the Reapers had built as part of their trap and the former seat of the Prothean government. The Protheans gathered their remaining strength and made a final push to the Citadel. They attached the Crucible, as they had dubbed the device, to the Citadel. It fired, but was too damaged to, or it never could, tell friend from foe. The Reapers were wiped out, but at a great cost.

Civilization was lost once more.

3 thousand years ago, the Asari discovered the Citadel and settled in. The Salarians, an amphibious race, soon followed. The Council was formed by these two species. Many races joined the Council as they discovered the Citadel. The honor of making the Council's decisions was left to the Asari and Salarians, but the others could propose ideas and ask for the council's help. This system lasted for many years, eventually giving the avian Turians a seat to serve as the primary military.

But peace was not to last.

The quarians, a race based on Rannoch, built an AI race named the geth to serve them. Eventually the geth achieved sentience, the quarians panicked and tried to shut the robots down. The geth fought back, trying to survive against their creators. The quarians asked the Council to help.

No help came.

Instead, the Council stripped the quarians of their embassy. The “lesser races” (Non-council seat species) began to grow restless.

In 2157 a new race leapt on the scene with a bang. The turians discovered them trying to activate a dormant Mass Relay, which was forbidden under Council law. The humans (as this race was called) fought hard, surprising everyone with their military power. The Council stepped in to negotiate a peace treaty, but was startled when 3 different leaders showed up. The humans were more fractured than any race the Council had ever met. When the Council saw the armada the humans had brought with them, however, they decided it was probably best they were fractured.

Over the next decade, the Council did its best to make the humans divided.

A quarian hacker by the name of Tali'Zorah found this out, and was barely rescued by a human named Commander Shepard. When this discovery leaked, the lesser races had enough of the Council and its manipulating.

They left.

The humans swore off the Council, and a barely kept peace exists between the Council, humans, and the ISA, as the rebel races call themselves. Further complicating this is the final faction, the Krogan and Rachni, which only recently appeared.

Welcome to ME: D

The world of Division is one of strained peace at best. Beings fight to preserve what shaky alliances they have, ambassadors try to form new bonds while Spec Ops try to destroy their enemies.

Who are you? A hero? A man who gets the job done, no matter the cost? Or someone just out to survive?

Factions

There are 4 major factions, with 3 subfactions under human. Of course, you don't have to side with the faction your character's race is listed under, or even with a faction at all. Just note that most factions don't like members of enemy species.

Each race has an image linked, courtesy of the wiki. Also, please read the codex article for the race you plan on using if you've never played the game. The Codex is linked below under Locations.

InterSpecies Alliance (ISA)

The ISA was formed by its constituent races after their rebellion against the Council. Their government

is one not unlike the USA's senate, with each race sending a delegation to their meetings. Said meetings take place on the recently built space station Unity. The ISA has the biggest conglomerate fleet, but this is trumped by how many are quarian liveships.

Major constituent races:

Quarians

Homeworld: Rannoch, though few living quarians have ever set foot there. A synthetic race, the Geth, drove them off and promptly entrenched. Few Geth have been seen since. Instead, most quarians are nomads, living on the Migrant Fleet.

Volus

Homeworld: Irune. An inhospitable place, with an ammonia atmosphere and high gravity. Only volus can live here comfortably.

The Hanar

Homeworld: Kahje

The Drell

Homeworld: The Drell live on the Hanar homeworld.

Elcor

Homeworld: Dekuuna

The Humans

The humans consist of a shaky political alliance between the democratic US, the communist USSR, and the socialist EU. Each sends their leader to a triumvirate. Most meetings end in yelling, but war is not forthcoming.

The Soviets

Domain: Asia and Australia.

The USA

Domain: All of the Americas.

The European Union

Domain: Europe and Africa.

The Council

The Council is three members, one of each race, elected by their people.

Asari

Homeworld: Thessia.

Salarians

Homeworld: Sur'Kesh

Turians

Homeworld: Palaven

The Kroni

The krogan are governed by clan leaders, while the Rachni are a hive mind dominated by their queens. How exactly they are cooperating is unknown. Please note that the Rachni wars never happened without Reaper indoctrination.

Krogan

Homeworld: Tuchanka. A massive dust ball, devastated by nuclear bombs.

Rachni

Homeworld: Suen

NOTE: The picture above of the Rachni is one of many types.

Profile rules

Post your profile in the discussion topic and wait for staff approval before posting as that character. Alternatively you can send your profile to a staffer by PM. Staff need another staffer's approval for characters. See the power list for rules about biotics and the like. The character limit is currently seven. Dead characters do not count toward your limit, the bounds are here to prevent character neglect.

Name: An actual name, please. No usernames. Ideally one fitting with that species' name type.

Species: Any sentient, non-extinct species from the Mass Effect universe is allowed, but you are encouraged to use one of those listed in the faction section above. No Thresher Maws.

Age: Self explanatory. Just keep in mind that some races, like krogan and asari, live to be at least a thousand, while Salarians only live to be 40.

Gender: Male, Female, Indeterminate.

Faction: List is up there.

Class: There are six classes to chose from for biotic, tech, and combat characters. Ambassadors and the like probably won't have implants, but if you want abilities you need to pick a class.

Abilities: Rules on abilities are in the ability section.

Weapons and armor: Self-explanatory. Keep in mind the weight limit.

Skills: What your character is good at.

Personality (optional): How your character acts.

Appearance: What your character looks like.

Ship specifications: Is your ship fast? Slow? Heavily armed? Say it here.

Bio: Your character's history. How they got where they are, their childhood, etc.

Lord of Adders Black was gracious enough to make sure that we could use the Mass Effect Wiki. Thus, the Codex and all of its information is open to us. Refer to it for planet atmosphere, geography and the like. The Codex: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Codex

Travel by Mass Effect relays is nearly instant, FTL travel inside a cluster takes about 12 hours to get from one side to the other. When using relays, please be gracious enough to say in OOC that you're going to another cluster.

Arguably the most important cluster is the Serpentine Nebula, home of the Citadel and the Council. Even after the rebellion the Citadel is an important place, being as it is in the center of the relay network. There's a major nightclub, marketplace, and living spaces.

Omega is the other major space station, on the far side of the galaxy. Unlike the Citadel, Omega is home to the more unsavory parts of galactic culture. Mercenaries, gangs, and all around crooks are headquartered on Omega. Presiding over all of this is Aria T'Loak, the Asari in charge of Omega's operations. Another major feature of this system is the Omega-3 Relay. Many ships have gone through the relay, none have returned.

Class RulesAll classes may choose six abilities. For classes that draw abilities from two pools (Infiltrator, Sentinel, Vanguard) at least two of the six abilities must be of one type, with four of the other, or a three/three split; i.e. a Sentinel with Tech Armor, Snap Freeze, Flamer, Arc Grenade, Pull and Throw, or a Vanguard with Carnage, Adrenaline Rush, Fortification, Singularity, Warp Ammo and Shockwave. It should be noted that the only species that has a significant number of biotics are the asari, as all asari are born with them and training in them is part of their basic education. Among other species they are quite rare, being practically nonexistent among the quarians (and literally nonexistent among the synthetic geth). Keep this in mind when creating characters.Abilities

RULES:

1. All BZP rules apply.

2. Listen to the staff.

3. Your posts should go something like this, with IC for “in character” and OOC for “out of character”:

IC: Garrus smashed a pod with the butt of his rifle, grimacing as the fluid hit his shields. “Scratch one!”

OOC: The rest of the Normandy crew is welcome to join in.

4. Arguments/debates may go on for 5 posts in the main thread. After that, take it to PM or the discussion topic.

5. No godmodding. Dodging unavoidable attacks, ignoring injuries, etc.

6. This fits under godmodding: No metagaming. Knowing things your character didn't learn, magically crashing another player's party without a good IC reason.

7. Put “The Harbinger” in your profile to prove you read this.

8. Don't kill another player's character without permission from him/her. Make sure to write that you have permission in the post where you kill the character.

9. IN THE EVENT THAT DEATH SEEMS UNAVOIDABLE: Your character may be killed to avoid breaking rule 5. Only staff can do this. This isn't a punishment, just realism. If you have a good way to get out of it after your character is dead, please PM Toa Kaithas or another staffer.

10. Canon characters are not allowed without having permission from the GM first.

11. NPC autohitting is permitted as long as you play realistically. If you charge a group of krogan mercenaries with nothing but a machete and you're winning, that's breaking the rules.

12. No destroying relays without explicit staff permission. That is the ultimate case of NPC bashing, and they're nigh indestructible anyway. Trying isn't against the rules, but you'll be chased across the galaxy by literally every faction.

13. No bunnying. That means taking control of another person's character without permission.

14. Double posting... Nah.

15. Have fun!

Punishments:

1. Warning.

2. Serious injury that can't be fully healed by Medigel, and requires the character's own body heal.

3. Character death, and no, Cerberus will not be saving you.

4. 1 week ban.

5. All characters die.

6. Permanent ban.

Rewards:

Level 1: Character limit raised by 1 or power limit raised for one character with a power to fill it, custom or normal.

Level 2: A frigate level ship and/or a promotion if you're a member of a faction.

Level 3: Staff position and a character invited to be on the Normandy.

Current Staff

Host: Toa Kaithas/Elvis

Cohost: Bundalings

Story and realism advisor: Basilisk

All staff can approve characters.

Well, rules are self explanatory. I'll post the first IC and my profiles tomorrow, as my internet is acting up. Good luck to everyone!

My Profiles:

Name: Erif'Spur vas Xil.

Species: Quarian

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Faction: ISA. Most other quarians, however, will have nothing to do with him, nor he with them.

Class: Vanguard

Abilities: Singularity, Nova, Biotic Charge, Carnage, Armor-Piercing Ammo, Shockwave.

Weapons and armor: Military quarian envirosuit, though it may be noted that he is more resistant to disease than most quarians, able to be outside of his suit for 5 minutes without getting sick. Instead of an omniblade his suit is equipped with an omnisword (essentially the same, but a sword instead of the normal omniblade's shape). Also carries a Scimitar shotgun, Tempest submachine gun, and a grenade launcher that holds 5 shots.

Skills: Erif'Spur is one of the only biotic quarians around, and that gives him the advantage of surprise. He isn't as good at shooting as Shepard, but is still not easily beaten on the shooting range.

Ship specifications: The Xil is a long-range fighter. Its added engines and supply areas do tend to make it not as agile as normal, but it can outrun most everything.

Appearance: Erif wears a faded green (the color being faded to begin with, though the amount of use the suit has received doesn't help) envirosuit, his facemask is a soft shade of blue. Like most quarians, Erif is smaller and more slender than his human equivalent, standing at about 5'6”. Also like most quarians, Erif's face is physically attractive, at least by human standards, and his bright green eyes (while odd for a member of his species) are vibrant and full of life.

Bio: Erif's parents were killed when the ship they lived on's Element Zero core overloaded. Erif only barely survived, his 2 year old body changed forever. The irradiation from the core enhanced his immune system and made him biotic. He was excluded because of this, only one of the admiral's daughter would have anything to do with him. Right before his Pilgrimage there was an incident with some active geth. He destroyed them, but his uncontrolled biotics ripped the ship apart. Exile followed swiftly.

The suit is mostly black with a dark red trim, including on her collar. She uses a sniper rifle, a submachine gun, and a heavy pistol, the though her submachine gun is her most versatile weapon.Skills: Catalina is one of the best assassins known, her teacher was none other than Thane Krios. She is best at getting up close and personal with her targets, just like her teacher did, yet she is also very good at shooting (not as good as Shepard), mostly with sniper rifles.Appearance: Thick, Blonde, Medium length hair, bright green eyes that often appear to glow in certain light, making her nickname that more appropriate, stands at about 5 ft. 6 in, athletic build, very beautiful. Picture: http://i2.listal.com/image/512546/936full-amber-heard.jpgShip specifications (if applicable): When on the Normandy, she would prefer a place where she can view the outside.Bio: Catalina was born on a Horizon. Her parents were both retired from Alliance and she got to meet many interesting people as she grew up, including the Drell named Thane. Thane was a friend of her family and, seeing that Catalina showed promise as a strong fighter, offered to teach her whenever he was on Horizon. Catalina began to excel at the art, rivaling Thane in her talents. At the age of 15, she got her first commission kill and began her career as an assassin, leaving her parents behind. After a few years her conscious grew heavy and she began to question the morality of her career. She then became a freelancer, using her skills to get rid of those who preyed on the innocent. A quest to avenge her childhood friend has now lead her to Omega.

Weapons and armor: Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Heavy Pistol, SMG, and a Shotgun which he calls 'The Harbinger'. His armor is made more of for stealth combat. It's colors are mostly black with some silver linings. The silver is mostly on the arms, which is kida like a tattoo marker that he has. His preferred weapon is his Assault Rifle

Skills: Stealth combat as stated above, which makes him more of an Infiltrator than a Soldier. But when things get messy, his stealth combat is off and his tactical combat skills are on. Those skills include CQC, Lethal Takedowns, and a raised awareness.

His mother was a nurse at a hospital in the med district, and his father was a government worker that repaired system connections. His parents wanted him to achieve a life greater than he imagined, which lead to his enrollment into the military of the USA. He became a soldier in which he learned things that may be a bit out of his rank such as an Infiltrator. He mostly prefers to stay behind the front lines like most soldiers do. Instead he rather go in silently without detection, then once inside, strike the enemy. He currently resides in his country home out in Helotes, waiting for the call.

IC: "SIR!"

The General turned from watching the bombs explode against the base's shields, toward the soldier who had just ran in, his face and battle armor covered in grime. Looked to be about 19. War takes the young early. It's a blessing it hasn't expanded beyond here. His face, however, looked resolute and grim, as though he was ready to do anything. "Yes?"

"The sergeant sent me from the front. We aren't gonna hold out much longer, sir."

***

"LET'S MOVE!" A human soldier started firing, taking out a bartarian sniper. He waved to move forward, only to be taken out by a headshot from an unseen krogan. Commander Tunkai gritted his teeth. "Wish people would use their helmet." The old soldier clicked his comm on. "We need reinforcements and air support NOW!"

The battle for Feros raged.

OOC: The sides are a human and ISA allied force against mixed race mercs. You're welcome to fight in this.

Rick suddenly got a call from a military group out in Feros. They need men to aid in the fight. Rick hung up and got up from his chair. "Looks like they need me once more. Time to bring out 'The Harbinger'." He went inside his house and suited up for the mission. Then he headed into the garage and went in to his ship. He inputted the coordinates for Feros and made his way there.

IC: Kruhan

Kruhan stood within a dirty warehouse among the thousands that dotted the massive metal structure that was Omega. Omega was a like a breeding cround for the corrupt and the unlawful. It was a place Kruhan unfortunately had to visit often. But many of these criminals were willing to pay a hefty fee for Kruhan's services. He was well known around Omega. Biotic Krogan were rare. Krogan were dangerous on their own, few races liked to trifle with them. That meant Kruhan was extra dangerous.

His blue slitted eyes narrowed at the assembled Vorcha. They were disgusting creatures. Worse then Batarians in Kruhan's opinion. They had no honor, they were sniveling, traitorus beings. They were ugly too. And that was coming from a Krogan who looked pretty **** ugly compared to an Asari.

The lead vorcha narrowed his beady red eyes at Kruhan and gnashed his thin needle like teeth. "Auuurghhh, back so soooon Krogan?" Vorcha had a way with words.

"The bounty's over. Senarius Tenaren is dead. The Turian didn't even see it coming." Kruhan said.

The vorcha laughed. "But we said we'd pay more for him alive... looks like you're getting half Krogan." he cackled. Kruhan became a blur of movement. He charged forward and drew his shotgun at the same time. He grabbed the vorcha by the throat and lifted him into the air while he pressed the shotgun to his chest.

"None of you move or your leader gets splattered all over these walls." Kruhan thundred. "Its not smart to cross me, very unwise." Kruhan breathed into the face of the vorcha.

"I want my credits or it looks like your men will be picking a sucessor."

"Fine! Fine! Here they are!" the vorcha babbled as he offrered Kruhan a chip. He dropped him to the ground as he scanned the chip, uploading the credits to his device. It was the full number.

"Now that's more like it. Next time you try this and I'll take your credits and then kill you." he growled. He then turned and marched away.

Several minutes later and Kruhan had made his way back to his small ship. It was hardly much. It fit about one Krogan and the weapon systems weren't great. But it was all Kruhan needed. He climbed into his ship and sped away from Omega.

Suddenly as he cut through space about three larger ships appeared in his horizon. "Something's wrong..." he muttered. Vorcha ships. Their canons flared to life as they began spewing laser beams at Kruhan's vessle. Direct hits. His ship shook as the Vorcha descimated his ship. They then flew on, thinking he was dead. But he was far from it. Kruhan drifted through space, almost all of his systems down. If he didn't think of something soon he was as good as dead.

"This is Kruhan... my ships' been attacked by vorcha pirates. I need immediate assistance. I'm willing to pay." he said into the surroinding com channel as he hoped a nearby ship would pick it up.

OOC: Lone this is where you come in.

IC: The Normandy was also on Omega, though she was powered down to receive new crew. 3 new staff were already on board, all getting acquainted with Tali down in Starboard Observation. Shepard was off talking to a reporter, and Garrus was walking through the halls back up to the main gun battery.

All in all, typical day on the Normandy.

IC - Evelyn: The meek young man made his way off the public shuttle to Omega. He seemed to get lost within the crowd of people as he opened up his Omni-Tool and checked his notes. Among some text on the Unification Wars was a small reminder that contained a set of coordinates and a time.

The student had at least three hours to kill on Omega while waiting for his target to arrive. He left the spaceport and made his way to the entrance of Afterlife and took in the sights and sounds of the space station. The lighting was rather dim aside from the entrance to the exclusive club and the loud music could be heard from where he stood. The young man sighed as he sat against a wall and began studying his notes, waiting for three hours to pass.

IC (Valeria)

Valeria eyed the space station through the viewport. "Ack. Sickening. Look at them! The poor and starving left in the streets....the Union would not stand for this." She shook her head and continued to mutter away, giving voice to her anger. It would not do to let such feelings build up, it was hardly healthy....and it wasn't like there was anyone around to listen to her vent, so the empty air would have to do. "I wonder how this system has survived. How does the greed sustain itself?"

I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are the good people and the bad people. You are wrong, of course. There are, always and only, the bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides.

IC:

Rick soon arrived in Feros and made his way to the coordinates given to him via the phone call. "Time to unleash ." He then readied the missels for fire. He soon found himself at the battlefield. He surveyed the area quickly and turned the ship around via an aerial maneuver. He fired away at the enemy forces with his machine guns and short range missels. The explosions can be felt due to the heat coming in, and the amount of body's shot, kept piling.

He soon heard fast beeping on his radar; missels inbound. He launched his flares so as not to sustain damage. He turned his ship around and launched another box of missels. After clearing the area enough for the Allies to move forward, he landed the ship out in the base of attack of the Humans and ISA forces.

IC: Most of the missiles were taken down by ground to air defense, though enough made it through to cut a good sized hole in the enemy's defense perimeter. "Okay, MOVE!" Tunkai and some of the soldiers under his command crouch-ran forward, shooting as they did.

IC: Vakarian walked up in time to hear Valeria. "If there's one thing I learned from my time on C-Sec, it's that greed is the one resource there's plenty of."

IC (Valeria)

"Sadly accurate." Valeria sighed. "On a scale of one to ten, how angry would Shepherd be if I slipped away to slit the odd mobster's throat? Don't answer that. I know better then to risk our security like that. It's just..." Valeria swept her hand before her. "I feel powerless you know? There are people starving and dying out there. This is what the Union was formed to prevent and here it is, right before me and what can I, the loyal officer of the Union do? Nothing." She liked the former C-Sec Agent. He could always be relied on to provide solid advice.....or at least, provide a few amusing stories about his time in the wards.

Rick got out of the ship, his eye-patched covered eye, glinted in the sun. He walked the battle field with 'The Harbinger' in hand. The sound of gun fire can be heard in the near distance as he moves closer. Then a supposed dead merc grabbed his leg, his face was bloody and his legs may have been gone. He just looked at him and pointed the shotgun at his face, 'BAM', he died seeing the barrel of a gun. Rick continued to make his way there.

Then he stopped and took out his sniper rifle. He adjusted his sights so as to get a good shpt at the mercs. 'Kkkrack' the sniper rifle went off, hitting a merc in the shoulder. He fired again, this time at a mercs head. An ISA soldier looked back to see who was firing, and he saw Rick just a few feet behind him laying down suppressive fire.

(Vilote)

It was just a normal enough day for Vilote. After having scavenged for supplies in the Hades Gamma cluster, Vilote had headed to Omega. He had things to sell, and need to re-stock on supplies. So, coming in close to the station, He wasn't expecting to find a distress signal not that far out form Omega. Someone ticked off one of the merc groups.

Moving in closer, Vilote sent a response to the distress signal. " This is Vilote Nermia vas Arkile. I can offer assistance. Are any of your docking rings still good? If not, suit up and I can pick you up out of the vacuum." Vilote was taking a huge risk in doing this, but he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he left the guy out in space. And I could use some new crew.

Right when Rick was going to fire another shot, he felt the whiz of a bullet go past him. He then dropped and adjusted his sights. He then reloaded with armor piercing rounds. He aimed at the position where the bullet was fired, and sure enough, there was the sniper. He shot him in the heart, piercing his armor. Rick then aimed and other mercs, so as to make room for the ISA and Human forces.

IC: Afterlife night club, Omega

"So she's pinned down behind this crate, right? Group of slavers to her left and one of those big mechs...what do they call them? Emiles? Ah, anyway, they had one of those on her right and they're moving to flank her. Now our sniper, he's got the ground troops covered, so she's just blind firing at the mech. Except eventually, she runs out of thermal clips." A small smirk crossed Jason's face as the two Asari dancers under his arms gasped, their expressions indicating that they were still listening intently as they leaned against the bar. "So I run out there and overload the mech's shields with my omni-tool, so now it's vulnerable. I get to my teammate, drop a supply pylon down next to her and boom! Turned that mech into scrap within seconds."

"What about the remaining slavers?"

"Them? Pfft, that's barely worth talking about," Jason snorted and fished a packet of cigarettes from his pockets, "Although, there was that one guy that I turned into a popsicle before my teammate introduced him to her grenade launcher. Violent, yes, but the sight of a Vorcha exploding into a little chunks of frozen meat is...kind of funny when you think about it."

"You froze him?" one of the dancers asked, raising an eyebrow as he took a cig between his teeth before accepting one herself, "Can you really do that?"

"I'm an engineer, baby," the mercenary boasted before deploying his Omni-Tool and snapping his fingers. A burst of fire appeared on the tip of his thumb, which he used to light both of their cigarettes before adding, "I can do anything." The sound of a throat being cleared got his attention and he turned to see the Salarian bartender waiting patiently with a pair of bottles and three glasses on the counter. "Ah ha, that's the stuff," he said before tapping his Omni-Tool to forward the payment. Collecting the drinks, he inclined his head towards the dancers with a smile. "Been a pleasure, ladies." The two dancers gave their own smiles before slinking off into the crowd as Jason headed back towards his table.

"About time," the woman sitting there said as he approaced and took a glass, "Was starting to think you forgot who the drinks were for."

"Hey now, I put in a good word for you too Camille," Jason replied before turning to the Turian sitting with them, "Here you go, Alank, that brandy that you're always drinking. You earned it."

"As always."

"Alright then," Jason said as he poured a glass for himself and Camille and Alank poured his own glass, "What're we drinking to tonight?"

"To honor."

"You're always drinking to honor," Camille scoffed, "Just forget about that for the night and let's drink to us for a change."

"I'm down with that," Jason smiled and raised his glass, "To us and another job well done. Cheers."

"Cheers."

IC: CatCat smiled as she waved at Erif and then grabbed Tali's hand as the two girls made their way off the ship. A few moments later, Cat sauntered into the night club with Tali at her side. "God I love this music!" She exclaimed as her hips swayed a little to the beat.

"Remind me. Why isn't sending a dreadnought and a few ground units in not being considered? It's Omega. Not like anyone would complain. These thugs couldn't stand up to a proper military unit."

IC: Garrus crossed his arms. "I believe the current situation is the fear of upsetting Aria's authority. Now, it's possible to manage crime by striking a deal with Aria instead of having the gangs spread out over the galaxy. It's not a good system, but I think most politicians are too bound up in this mess to help. The thugs are also surprisingly well armed."

IC: Tali ignored the dirty looks she was getting. Quarians were even looked down on here, but she was used to it. "Well, it looks like I'm gonna need a straw."

"So they kiss up to a crime lord instead of crushing her. Typical. I must contact my superior about this. Perhaps Aria will have an accident." Valeria allowed herself a small smile at the thought. "You know the Union's history. We don't make nice with criminals. We supply rebels in their nation and spread the revolution instead." Granted some of those revolutions hadn't gone quite as planned and had degenerated into bloody civil wars....but anything was better then allowing a crime lord to rule over her own little private domain. "That system, I suppose, has it's own flaws. It might be worth it just to take her down a peg."

IC: CatCatalina gave Tali a comforting grin. "They're probably glaring at us out of jealousy." She said, striking a dramatic pose and swooning. "Their malicious stares are so misplaced on such beautiful creatures!" She then started to laugh as she made her way to the bar. "God people shouldn't be so judge mental. Just because you're Quarian doesn't mean you're a thief. Honestly."

IC: "Aria is comparatively cooperative. Either take out the system or leave her in charge. Her subordinates..." Garrus allowed himself a turian grimace. "Facing them as Archangel was worse than Aria's gangs."IC: Tali pointed at an Asari. "I'm pretty sure she's a council representative and knows exactly who I am."

Rick saw a sniper aiming at him. He had little time to get out of the way, or aim at him. He got up and then felt a something go right through his leg. he fell down and staggered back, as he got out his pistol and aimed at the sniper. He fired a couple of shots at him, then reloaded with Armor-piercing bullets. He fired again at the snipers position. He got his sniper rifle and made his way to a safe position.

Normally, a single bottle would have been enough for Jason but Camille was in a celebratory mood tonight and he figured that it would be better to keep her that way, so he didn't object when she got up to get another bottle. She settled in next to a young woman and a Quarian who were talking about something that she didn't really care about and knocked on the counter to get the bartender's attention. "Can I help you?"

"Yeah. Another bottle of whiskey for table eleven," Camille replied, bringing up her Omni-Tool to pay.

"Sorry, ma'am, I can't do that."

"What?"

"Club policy," the Salarian shrugged, polishing a glass, "Can't serve minors ever since some kid who'd had a few decided he'd pick a fight with some Krogan in here. Nasty business, Aria had to pull a lot of strings to get the Alliance to back off."

"Fascinating. Now, could we get that drink already?"

"I don't think you..." The Salarian was cut off when Camille held up her Omni-Tool, which was currently displaying her ID.

"There. I'm 28 years old. Now get me that drink or I'm coming back there to get it myself." After studying the ID for a moment, the Salarian nodded and turned around. As he did though, Camille thought she heard him mutter something under his breath and she barked, "Hey! You say something?"

"No, no," the bartender replied, holding his hands up, "I was just...surprised. I'm not used to humans your age being so...small."

"You keep that up and we'll see who's small after I take your legs off." Back at the table, Jason and Alank watched their friend get increasingly agitated.

"We should probably go and calm her down," Jason remarked, taking a drag from his cigarette.

"Yes, we should," Alank nodded before taking a drink from his glass.

".....I just realized. Here we are, casually discussing how to overthrow a crime lord and take over Omega. Shepherd is rubbing off on us." Valeria shook her head in disbelief. Once she would have simply ranted, instead of threatening to call in the full might of the Union. Something she might not even be able to do.

ICCat looked at the Asari that Tali had pointed to and she shrugged. "Who cares? I wouldn't. And you know what people say about me." She grinned. "I could always take her out if you wanted me to." She offered jokingly. Cat had been an assassin since she was young, and despite not being a hired gun anymore, she enjoyed to joke about it. Cat smiled at the girl next to them and grinned. "Service here is terrible."

Camille glanced over at the young woman who had spoken to her. The first thing that she noticed were her piercing green eyes, which almost seemed to glow in the dim lighting of the club. "Probably implants. Lots of people getting them these days," she thought to herself before huffing and giving a reply, "It's about to get a lot worse if this guy doesn't hurry up. Hey! What's taking so long with that drink?!" At this point, a young mercenary, probably also at the club to celebrate a successful mission, sauntered up to the bar between her and the young woman next to her with a cocky grin on her face.

"Hey now, sweetheart, no need to get so worked up," he drawled, flashing a million-credit smile, "Let me handle this." Turning to the poor Salarian working the bar, he said to him, "Excuse me, sir, would you mind stepping it up with this young lady's drink?"

"Excuse me?" Camille frowned, not at all pleased by this new development, "Who do you think you are? Get lost."

"Aw, c'mon, at least let me buy you lovely ladies a drink," the brash mercenary grinned and brazenly put an arm over the shoulders of Camille and the young woman next to them, "Whaddya say?" Back at their table, Jason and Alank startled chuckling as they watched this go on.

"She's not going to like that."

"And here I was hoping that we'd make it back to the apartment without someone getting hurt tonight."

"Listen you," Camille said, not bothering to conceal her annoyance as she balled up her fists, "You've got about three seconds to go and bother someone else before I make you pick up your teeth."

Thinking that one of his companions had come to tell him something, the young mercenary took his arm off of the blonde woman's shoulder and gestured for the person tapping him to leave, not noticing that some of the nearer guests had stopped talking and were now staring intently in their direction. "Not now, man, I'm busy." When he was tapped on the shoulder again, this time more insistently, he sighed and turned around, "Look, whatever this is, it ca...cuh...Cuh..." His words drifted off as he was overcome by a combination of awe and pants-wetting terror when he realized that he was standing mere inches away from a stern-looking Commander Shepard. "Oh my...th-this is...I mean...Commander Shepard!" he finally sputtered out, suddenly finding himself very much like a deer caught in a pair of headlights, "I-I, this isn't-!" Unfortunately for the star-struck mercenary, he had completely forgotten that his arm was still draped over Camille's shoulders and she made good on her threat, reaching up and grabbing his head before slamming him face-first into the counter. "Time's up," she hissed as she pressed down harder on his head and blood streamed from his nose and mouth. The mercenary feebly tried to get free but the disorientation from the head trauma combined with Camille's strength enhancements prevented him from doing so. Several of the guests laughed at the sight, with at least one person yelling to do it again.

ICCat yawned at the sight. "Rather messy that." She commented, shrugging it off as she grabbed her drink from the bar tender. "I've always preferred a clean shot myself." She then turned to Shepard with a smile. "Hey Shepard, took you long enough to get over here. By the way, the observation deck is beautiful. I'm already moved in." She said with a dazzling smile.

IC:"Though I wish you would have told me archangel was on the Normandy as well." She huffed as she put her hands on her hip. "But it was fun making him stumble with his words again. Man was always a sucker for a pretty face." She laughed.
