IC (Vladimir Aleksandrov)

Vladimir stared at the beings around the table, most were there in name only, using advanced quantum communications to work with him in real time. "We have been waiting for this day." It wasn't a statement, it was a fact. The Council had attacked humanity twice before, once in the light and the other in the dark. The USSR was not ruled by a fool. He had seen to it that they had had been ready to move with very little notice. They'd had countless plans of attack and defense.

The training exercises the USSR fleets conducted always put them within striking distances of Council Worlds. He knew the STG had probably picked up on that, but the Council had to deal with the ISA as well. Guard it's borders everywhere, for every member species. That meant they were scattered. The USSR was smaller then they were, but they had less to defend and no treaties to bind their armies.

"This won't be an easy war comrades. The Council does not appear to have been prepared for us...." That was odd, considering they fired the first shot. "...but that will change. We must be prepared for this. They have ruled the galaxy for centuries. They will not fold before us easily."

One of the holograms coughed, it was Yuri Romanov, the head of the KGB. "What of Shephard? We have an agent aboard his ship...she has not reported back with a response yet. Having him fight alongside our forces would be a public relations coup..."

Vladimir waved his hand. "I suspect he will fight with the Americans. It is of no consequence in the long run...."

IC:

The 26th Armiger had been given orders to move out, according to the order's Illium was under attack, and the Asari were being overrunned, thus the Hierarchy was sending in reinforcements. Time to get in the fight then, Arcturus thought as he started to equip his armours and weapons, once he was done, Arcturus and the rest of the 26th Armiger headed to their transports.

Arcturus was beginning to feel uneasy when the reports came in, it seemed like the humans are much more formidable than originally expected, well that is sure to drag out this war. Arcturus was sitting down on the transport, he always felt uneasy on them, it was here they were most venerable, when they were on the ground, at least they could fight back.

ICCat grinned as she looked up at him. "Isn't this a familiar scene..? You and me like this." She giggles to herself and pulled away from the Turian before turning serious."Did you hear what happened?"

OOC: Slightly disappointing no one realized what the bright explosion was.

What prevented World War 3 and makes a big boom?

And what would make a really really good opening salvo against a very large target?

IC (Valeria)

"As you wish commander." Valeria cut the connection and shook her head. Things were going to get nasty the second the Council responded.

OOC:Wow, the Soviets just used nuclear weapons, oh well things are going to become rather unpleasant now.

IC:

When the Turian fleet arrived at Illium, the Turians finally understood exactly what happened. The humans had deployed their nuclear arsenal, Arcturus cursed the humans for what they had done, but at the same time, he admired that they were willing to use it. Arcturus looked at Illium and thought "###### human, do you know what you just did? You may have just doomed all of us." Arcturus was now sure that what ever victory they obtain would be a Pyrrhic victory, the humans would sooner kill everyone then lose the fight.

"That's not really an answer to the question."

Alistair observed, without breaking stride. "But I didn't need an answer. The answer was evident in your expression when the news broke. Besides, you've already been preparing for this sort of thing, haven't you? That's why you came here in the first place, to recruit Catalina, and to pick up a few other crew members."

"And the choice of crew members speaks volumes. A caged bird with evident combat capability, Garrus, and you even managed to pick up an old ally along the way. You've been gearing up for combat."

IC: Shepard looked at Alistair as they boarded the Normandy. "We could use you on our intelligence team. We had an idea that something like this was coming, but not so soon, and nothing like open war.""Welcome to the Guardian Task Force, Alistair Wren."IC: Garrus did the turian equivalent of a blush, but went serious. "Yes, I did. I'm standing with Shepard until I get news from the Council, telling me why this happened."

IC"I don't want to fight the Turians... But I'll stand with Shepard as well. He is the only ally I have." Cat sighed and ran a finger through her long blonde hair. Yet within a moment, Cat's mischievous eyes were back and she acted as if she had now worries. "I met a cute guy at the bar...well more like a Krogan...hehe."

The engineer raised eyebrow, as he followed close behind. "You seem to have an odd eye for selecting allies. What on Earth, or Omega for that matter, makes you think recruiting a tinkerer and master of useless trivia would be a good idea?"

Pausing for a moment, he waved cheerfully at a crewman, who glared and muttered something about "insane anachronisms".

IC (Third Fleet)

Admiral Gregori cursed as alarms blared. He was aboard the Lenin one the mightiest dreadnoughts in the Soviet Cosmoforce. It was a large, boxy craft, with little of the elegance that their Asari counterpart had sported. All those curved lines and pretty ascetics hadn't saved the light though, had it? Gregori allowed himself a small smile, even though the Turians were closing in, the battle was far from lost. Soviet ships weren't made to look pretty, they were made to kill in the enemy in the most efficient way possible.

He turned to his crewmen and keyed the comm. "All captains, all squadron leaders. Turian response fleet is incoming. Commence pattern fourteen. I repeat, commence pattern fourteen." The use of nuclear ordinance was sadly limited now, they'd mounted tactical nuclear missiles on some starfighters. It had been child's play to knock a hole in the Lights shielding and send a wing through. The big dreadnought hadn't stood a chance. The Turians had come prepared for war. Their anti-fighter measures would be operating at full capacity.

That was somewhat concerning actually. The defenses here had been light. Abnormally so. The Light hadn't even had it's shields at full power. What was the Council's game?

The Admiral didn't have time to ponder this however, for the entire craft began to shake as the gigantic mass driver it was built around opened fire. The long-range guns of the other boxy vessels in the fleet opened fire as well. Streaks of deadly ordinance swarmed towards the Turian fleet, which responded in kind. The battle for Illium's space had begun in earnest.

As the Turian fleet engaged the Human's, Arcturus was waiting for orders, he wanted to start killing the cursed humans. Arcturus was assigned to a boarding group, though they have yet to be sent out. Arcturus looked out of the vessel and saw the battle that was raging, explosions were happening everywhere, human and Turian fighters engaging each other. It was then the cruiser that Arcturus was on got hit by the humans, it shook the vessel but, the shields held.

IC:"You're right, I do play a mean game of chess."

Alistair observed, slowly reverting to his usual behavior. The engineer was... Bizarre. Much of the time, he seemed not to care about anything around him, his speech peppered with obsolete references, and factoids that few knew or cared about. But every now and again, he demonstrated surprisingly perceptive behavior. Add in his penchant for disappearing and reappearing at unusual times, and he was... Strange.

IC: Shepard shook his head. "I had a biotic experiment once. Dress code isn't an issue. As for what you should be doing, just try not to get killed and put that mind of yours to work. There might be something else going on."IC: "No, I'm not jealous," Garrus exclaimed, sending every signal that could be perceived as a blush.

IC (Valeria)

Valeria, in full combat gear, headed towards the exit of the Normandy. She was nervous, she freely admitted that much to herself, things were moving too fast. There was already fighting over one Asari world, and she knew the EU and American fleets would striking at targets of their own. Humanity would win the war. She'd help see to that much. That said....some of the Normandy crew were now security risks. The aliens were loyal to Shepherd....but were they more loyal to their own people? Her hand went to her weapons involuntarily. If it came down to that....

IC / Orinthia / OmegaOrinthia followed quietly behind Alistair and Shepard. She had received the news that humanity had declared war on the Council, and was still processing what exactly that would mean. She decided to ask Shepard exactly what that would mean. "Shepard," she interrupted, "I would understand if my presence is no longer desired upon this vessel. If you would, what are your intentions?" She did not expect open hostility from the commander, but she did expect an asari would no longer be welcome on this humans vessel. And if I were to remain without transferring information on the Normandy's movements to my sisters, would I not be a traitor?

Rick walked off to a shuttle to head back to his ship. He still hasn't made a protocol that will enable it to come to him. As he waited for the shuttle, one thing kept going on in his mind. Where's my sandwich? Actually no. This whole war thing must be put to an end. I already served once, and I'm planning on not doing this again. War tires me out, and the last thing I need is to be shot down by a bunch of Council troopers, and all my men killed.

IC: Docking Bay 27, Omega

"Ok guys, lay it on me."

"Element Zero core is stable."

"Propulsion systems are online and warming up."

"Life support is online. All other systems are functioning within acceptable parameters."

"Thank you kindly," Jason nodded, moving some displays around, "Control, this is Dabuhs requesting departure clearance."

"One moment please. The docking bay doors are opening." Jason watched at the huge doors opened, revealing the star-filled darkness of space. "Course is clear. You are clear for departure."

"Launching!" The corvette's engines burst to life, propelling the ship out of the hangar and out into space. It picked up speed as it began approaching the Omega 2 Relay while Jason began inputting commands to prepare the ship for a jump. "Nona, once we get to the Tasale System, set us on a course for Illium."

"Yes sir." At that moment, Jason felt the corvette shake a bit as it approached the mass relay and then was pushed back into his seat for a moment as the relay flung the ship across space. Once the shaking had subsided, he took of his safety harness and got up.

"Take the wheel for now, guys. Let us know when we get there." He headed into a large space that had once served as the corvette's bridge, where Alanka and Camille had approached a holo-display table in the center. "Alright, so remind me why we're flying into the middle of a war zone again?"

"Got a call from an old contact in the Turian military. Said he could use my help on something and agreed to let me bring you guys along."

"And your contact knows that the two of us are human, right?"

"Don't worry, I cleared it up with him. He'll be expecting us."

"Did he say exactly what it was he needed help with?"

"Not over an open channel, he couldn't."

"And what about payment?"

"He said that we can discuss that once we meet face-to-face."

"Sounds fair enough," Jason shrugged, sitting down, "What can you tell me about this contact of yours?"

ICCat pulled away from Garrus and grinned. "But that, my dear Ty, is part of my work. If I wasn't fast or stealthy then I couldn't kill people."She grinned at the Krogan, grabbing his hand. "Come look at the ship I live on!" She exclaimed, pulling the large Krogan behind her.

OOC: Trust me Nanosuit. You don't want to board a vessel whose defense is being managed by me.

Ask the folks at the Halo RPG about it sometimes.

IC (Third Fleet)

The Third Fleet maintained formation expertly, even as the Turians closed in. Their long range guns tearing into the Turian craft even as their fighter wings swarmed forwards to meet the thrusts of their counterparts. Gregori nodded, if they could maintain formation, their ships would be able to support each other in combat. A vital part of any space battle.

One on one ship duels were romantic, but in reality fleet combat tended to be more akin to jumping a chap you didn't like in a dark alley and introducing him to your crowbar and the crowbars of ten of your friends. Suddenly, the craft shook as one of the escorts exploded. The Turians were concentrating their fire, hoping to pick a hole in the formation before they'd closed completely. So that was their game. Get their soldiers to the surface to reinforce the Asari. Make the whole ground battle a bloody slog. They couldn't very well use orbital bombardment here, not with the cities about.

This was just lovely. Gregori sighed and shook his head. The Red Army wasn't going to be happy about this. There was little chance of stopping every Turian transport.

The krogan glanced at the only other being nearby, which happened to be Garrus, and gave the turian what best could be called a worried expression. It really didn't fit the massive krogen well. Nonetheless, he followed after Cat, not so much being pulled along given his bulk.

IC: Tasale System, Crescent Nebula

"We will be exiting the Tasale Relay in five minutes." The Blackstars quickly strapped themselves in to prepare to exit the jump, their ship shuddering a bit as it left the relay's mass effect field.

"Ok Alank, which one of these ships has your guy on it?" Jason asked as he guided the Dabuhs towards the ensuing battle up ahead, "Might be a bit hard if he's somewhere in there."

"One moment, I'll punch in some coordinates," the Turian replied, entering some numbers into his display, "There. Set a course for this destination."

"A carrier?" Jason said as he looked over their destination, "I thought a Turian big-shot would be riding on one of those dreadnoughts."

"This isn't exactly a formal meeting," Alank explained, "My contact's not as high up in the ranks as you might think but he's still got a bit of pull. Told me that he managed to convince his superiors to let him bring us in to keep infantry from being spread too thin for what he's planning."

"I hope your contact realizes that we're not exactly front-line guys," Rachel said, "I'm all for a good fight and all, but I don't plan on getting sent into the meat grinder just because the Asari need more troops."

"Don't worry, he assured me that this job will play more to our strengths," Alank assured her.

"Attention unknown vessel," a voice suddenly crackled over the ship's comms, "This is a combat area. Please head to the nearest mass relay and evacuate immediately."

"This is Major Alank Varetnin. My crew and I are here on personal invitation from Captain Solitus Hareyet. Transmitting our clearance codes now."

"Apologies, Major. Clearance codes received, proceed with your approach."

"See?" Alank smirked as the ship's VIs steered the corvette towards the huge Turian carrier, "Just let me do the talking and everything will be fine."

If you say so, I will not attempt to board your vessel's at least not now, since I would prefer my character survive the first few posts.

IC:Arcturus received a change of orders, the Asari were in urgent need of reinforcements, thus all boarding operations were put on hold, they were to be assigned to attempt to breakthrough the Humans line and help relieve the Asari's. The Turians started to concentrate their fire power to break a hole in the humans lines, at the same time, the transports were being sent out, the Turian's knew that most would not manage to reach Illium intact, but they were sure they could get enough troops through the Human line. As the transports flew toward Illium, Arcturus and the other Turians on board the transport were planning out what to do once they reached the planet.

IC:

Arcturus's dropship landed on Illium's surface, once it's doors opened, Arcturus and the rest of the 26th Armiger Legion exited their transports and started to move toward a nearby Asari outpost. In the distance, Arcturus saw what used to be the Light of Illium, he then continued to move toward the outpost. As Arcturus got near the Asari outpost. Arcturus's superior officer then commanded that Arcturus move to higher ground and take up a sniper posistion. Scanning the area around him, he did not see any easily reachable location, but he then saw a posistion that he may be able to get to it if he used his jetpack, thus Arcturus launched himself up. Once Arcturus was at the location, he started to set up his rifle and took aim at the humans approaching the outpost.

I'm so, so sorry.I didn't know what I was doing, and issues that I could have solved from experience I didn't think of.Canon characters was a mistake. The mindboggling size of the galaxy, even with instant travel, lead to too much player spread. And finally, I posted it at just the right time to.get overshadowed by four other RPs.So... I'm thinking about closing this, especially considering that I have another, less...
