Just a heads up on plans for the rest of the S&T Contest #2--Obviously the deadline for judging did not turn out to be noon today. :P For now I'm extending it to noon Wednesday, the 5th. (Sorry, The Infection! :P) Final deadline will be announced probably at that time. (No guarantees.) I'd expect it to be Friday, the 7th if I were you. I'm hurrying as fast as I can, even delaying the almighty lunch, just to get as many as possible done.... But it is still a slow process. I'm starting with the long entries though, so it should get faster and faster as I go...

For the voting, most likely what will happen is the preliminary and semifinal polls will be in the contest voting forum as usual. Then the three finals will be in S&T. I'll divide it up so the vast majority of the time until the 18th is taken up by the preliminaries--it will take quite some time for everybody to read the entries. The semifinals will likely be very short--either that or they will be moved to S&T too--I don't want to go the route of interfering with other contests to extend the time the polls are in the voting forum, not at this time at least.

Then for the finals I'd like to leave them up for at least a week. Specific dates will be announced later.

Thanks so far to all the judges for all your hard work! I'm in the middle right now of updating the judges-notes in the entry list. Also, good luck to all who entered! I'm really enjoying reading all the ones I've read so far, even if the grammar corrections are rampant. :P When this is all said and done, as I've said before, even the "losers" will be winners in my book because they will be part of a big list of really fun stories. :D

One simple request before I close--anyone who's PMed me for corrections, note that I will be very slow in getting to them since I'm trying to focus on reading the entries. I request that as many as can switch to the new method of correcting errors, where you post a new version in a new post in your topic (details are in the entry topic; Method #2). That will speed things up both for me and for the voters who are eagerly waiting for the polls. ;) *It's for the greater good, man!*

And now... must have lunch! Yes, even the skeleton needs to eat. :P

Good to see that the host is still enjoying his contest! Not that I'm not, but I have to admit that I've had the feeling of drowning into the amount of entries that wait judging :). I just had to get away from my PC and do something else.

Still, I've had the honor to read a ton of excellent entries. Many from people whom I didn't expect to be great writers. I don't mean "minimum errors" with "excellent -- I'm a judge after all, my job and duty is to try to spot errors :). It's the amount of imagination power and creativity I've seen. So many people have thought of ideas that I could've never come up with. The polls won't be easy for me. I'd definitely keep the finals up at least a week.

And of course, this means I will be away for the polls ... >_< (Leaving Thursday.)

EDIT: And then, reading through the rest of this marvelous blog, I see what I wrote earlier was unneeded. ^^;

so that's how the contest will go

so we have till noon today to finish all those entries, sounds like fun ^_^

perhaps i'll get one or two entries read by then :P

now, i've noticed that with some of the entries that the author hasn't updated to version 1 or 2 or 20... i've even seen one that hasn't been posted in in about 2 weeks and is still on version 1 after 2 judges posts

now, could we judges possibly extend our power to make the corrections of the other judges (essentially we would be taking some to most of the workload off of you)

so, would that be legal? it would certainly speed up the judging process

say that the author hadn't updated the story after 5 days, we could go in and perform the corrections of the other judges (while not changing anything story wise)

you could possibly make edit into the entrant list post the ones that should be updated or something :shrugs:

just an idea to get this done faster, cause i know i don't want to read a story that has multiple problems in it (especially when those problems have already been pointed out )[/rantish idea]

'S'alright. I suppose I haven't been pulling as much slack now as I did when the contest started.

I'll divide it up so the vast majority of the time until the 18th is taken up by the preliminaries

I like that better then the original idea. Hopefully, I can vote in the premilaries before I leave, but if I don't, I've got a day to read all the entries and vote :P

Just make sure it's not finger food ;)

O.O

*looks at dates*

Noo! I leave tomorrow!

I don't care about my story really, I'm sure it died some time ago, but everyone else's!

Tally ho! To the stories!

Bones will certainly be short of judges over the next few days :P

And yea, my story pretty much died, even I my self don't read it anymore. :P

Anyhow, good luck people. I still have 2 hours and 40 minutes of school time until I am finally free :( You Americans are lucky...
