SAT Scores

So I got my SAT scores today; I got an 1895 out of 2400, or around the 87% percentile nationwide. I did best on writing and reading where I rank in the mid eighties and 90th percentile, while I did just above average on math. Overall a good result. :D

:kaukau: I believe I was in the 97%. And I'm just saying that because I want to one-up you and feel good about myself. That will all change when someone else posts here saying "Strange, I got a 99% and thought it was normal." It's funny, because the people who do good but not perfect are the ones who actually appreciate that they did a good job, whereas the uber-successful kind of just tuck it away and pretend that it's not impressive.

I'm just assuming that the next person who posts will be one of those 99-percenters who puts me in my place. Since there's always someone better (unless you're Stephen Hawking), there isn't that much of a point to comparing. It's when you're in the 25% range that you should really be concerned.

There was also this time when I took a test that only smart people who payed money took, and I was only in the top 60%. Being used to the upper 90's, it hit me a little hard, but I considered the demoraphic I was up against. There wasn't much to be ashamed of.

Impressive, that'd be around a 2100. I wouldn't have a shot at getting that high since I'm not amazing at Algebra, but I could try again and get a higher score - not that I really need to. I got this score without any SAT practice books and my score is right in the range of what some good local colleges will accept, so I'm pretty pleased with the result.

But yeah, most SAT results will get you into some colleges. Getting a really low score would be rare enough that I would bet it would happen most to people with reading or learning disabilities, but if you aren't either of those it is a major cause of concern.
