I didn't read your review ('cause spoilers), but did you see it in 3D or 2D? I'm trying to decide if seeing it in the former format would be worth it. I'm generally critical of it, but every once in a while something comes along and makes me think that, when used right, 3D can really add something to a movie (Life of Pi, Gravity). And with the amount of flying scenes that are sure to be in this movie I feel like that's a possibility.

But the only spoiler I wrote was that the dragons have been a hallucination this entire time and they've really just been riding sheep.

 

I dunno... I saw it in 3D and in 2D, and both were good. Parts of the 3D, especially when you have flicks of fire kind of floating in front of the screen. But nowadays 3D just seems too subtle or something, and not once have I been overly impressed with it. Or maybe I'm just ignorant cause I get too lost in the characters and story and music to take the 3D in. I liked it in 2D anyway, so I guess you could save a buck, or maybe ask someone else.

 

Also, everybody dies when Hiccup goes to the dark side.

 

Sounds like you more or less have the same opinion on 3D that I do. Even those two films I mentioned were just as enjoyable in 2D for me. So I guess there's my answer.

 

And I think you're lying with that second spoiler. It's obviously going to be Astrid who goes to the dark side. Duh.
