You may have noticed I have been quiet on the boards lately. There's a logical reason for that, but it requires some back story.
You know all those topics where you have to say what your post goal is. Most people say something like "I want 1 bazillion posts, LOL, ROTC FTW!" or something along those lines. But I remember once Makaru had a goal that intrigued me... he wanted to get enough posts to match his member number. Anyway, this last month, I've been nearing that goal. So I thought I'd make that post worth something.
My first idea was to post some sort of story or something, although I haven't had any real inspiration to write fiction since starting my classes. (Chem does that to you). But then there was the threat of a short story contest, so I thought it would be cool of my 4255th post (that's also my member #) could be my story entry.
And then last week, I was getting real close to that number, and the contest hadn't started yet. So I decided that I would make that post in the contest topic celebrating what a great idea it would be for another contest. (Whatever its theme turned out to be)
Then that didn't get posted, so for the last few days I've been staying off the boards to conserve my post, but the contest seems to have been put on hold because the Library mods are busy with real life (okay, so I'll just wait).
Then I saw the BBC Contest 46 polls...
I couldn't resist. The polls are uniquely named after Canadian capitals. Not just the provinces, but also the territories. So the capital of Northwest Territories was there... aka Yellowknife. That city is special to me because I was born there. (And lived there apparently 3 months before my dad's work moved him back to the states.) Nope, I'm not Canadian... I have pretty much grown up in Colorado and Washington... but it's just cool to know I was born in far north Yellowknife. I've seen some pictures my parents have of the northern lights there... sweetness!
Maybe I'll visit that place later in life, although with global warming it's sure to change a lot. And it's not like it's a geographically awesome place... I prefer the mountains and forests of Washington or Colorado.
Anyway... the whole point of this is, I was so excited to see the poll's name that I voted there and posted there and completely blew the "special" post I was saving up. But who cares? It's not the post count that counts, but the content. And it's not like my real 4255th post... I'm sure I'm at 1 or 2 thousand posts in forums that don't count posts, so the post count isn't accurately portraying my total involvement on BZP.
I also have some other topics to post in that I've put off for a while... so I'll be checking those out soon to see if I can still cram in my point of view. And I'll still be checking out blogs and stuff... I need to make my own approval stamp soon to pass out.
