I'm an adult!

So today was my 18th birthday!   I don't feel any more responsible.   I had some nice cake, lots of pizza, and I got a $25 Xbox gift card plus a controller charging station!   I bought Halo 3: ODST for The Master chief collection, and funnily enough just in time to get a date-specific achievement.   I'm very happy with My Xbox One a month on. I've finished Tomb Raider and Valiant hearts (I had played them both on PC before, but it was a good excuse to replay them) , all the campaigns in the MCC

Xbox!

Today I got my Xbox after saving up for months for it! I got a good deal at Costco ($409.99 CAD for the GOW bundle plus an extra controller and 12 months of Xbox live gold, works out to the console itself only being about $250) and tomorrow I'll head to Walmart to pick up the MCC.   It feels kinda surreal finally having it, since it feels unfamiliar because it's the first time I've used it, but familiar because I've been ravenously consuming any videos and information I could get my hands on in

A very pleasant surprise.

I got an unexpected gift of the most recent Lego AT-AT yesterday!   It was a very pleasant build (although the legs were very repetitive) and it felt great to be doing a big Lego build again for the first time in like 3 years. It inspired me to get a few more Star Wars sets off of Lego S@H as well as the Protector of Fire (Who is the last set I need to complete the first wave of Bionicle 2015!) . Although I can't say the free Admiral Yularen mini figure and poster weren't also an influence.   Sp

A wall of text about Halo and me.

So, since I might have become a little obsessed about Halo in recent months, I thought I'd talk about the Halo series and my history with it.   My first experience with Halo (that I remember) was playing a few minutes of Halo 2 split screen (I think, I recently watched a let's play of Halo 2 and nothing really jumped out at me as familiar, but I definitely remember there being a Grunt, and you know how memories are) at a friend's house years ago (I know it was after 2006, maybe 08 or 09) among a

Weird dreams.

I had a really weird, and vivid dream last night.   In short, I was The Nostalgia critic, and I was following a 100 foot tall Dark souls character (He looked more like a player character from Dragon age Inquisition, but my mind said Dark souls for some reason) as he was taking me to jail. We were walking over a heavily damaged red suspension bridge when we passed a pirate ship on the bridge, and then Mr. dark souls ran into a telephone pole, spun around, and his head caught on fire for a few sec

Update on the Gali situation.

When I woke up today she was only turned about halfway towards my closet, I righted her about halfway through the day and she has yet to move again.   It is very possible that one of my parents moved her, as I sleep like a brick, so I probably wouldn't have noticed them coming in if they did it early enough.   My desk isn't slick or uneven, certainly not enough to move a figure that much without it toppling over.

Okay, I'm legitimately starting to get a little freaked out now.

Right now I have all my 2015 Toa set up on a desk in my room.   Yesterday I noticed that Gali had turned 90 degrees to the right, towards my closet. I wrote it off as someone coming in my room at some point and moving her for whatever reason. I put her back facing the right way and carried on with my day.   A few hours ago I noticed that she had turned again. Again I wrote it off, righter her, and moved on.   I noticed a few minutes ago that she had turned again. I'm positive that no one came in

Best. Christmas. Ever.

I got all 6 2015 Toa from Mastermind Toys in Sherwood park, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They had all the sets, but I didn't have enough money for the whole wave.   They're all great. And I'm surprisingly really liking Kopaka, even though I wasn't a huge fan of his look in pictures. Of course, I promptly lost his golden mask like 2 hours after getting home. Hopefully it'll turn up soon.

Lots of stuff.

I got another Brucklink order for my birthday! This time from the U.S., and everything came in such good condition that if I didn't know better, I'd say they were fresh out of the box.   In total I got Lewa and Tahu Nuva, Tahnok and Lehvak, Tahnok and Galohk-kal, Pohatu and Onua Mata, and Turaga Vakama, as well as a bunch of replacement parts that let me finish up Nuhrii, Onepu, Kongu Mahri, and Carapar and replace some damaged-but-still-usable pieces. Another notable addition was Lewa's axe arm

The return of Bionicle.

So, Bionicle 2015 was just announced today. It's been 4 years, 9 months, and 26 days since November 24th, 2009, the day Lego announced that. Bionicle would end. And now after all that time, it's finally coming back.   HECK YEAH!

Bionicle Reconstruction Project: Build harder 7

Got another Bricklink order. Finished Solek, Balta, Kohrak, Tahnok Va, Onewa Hordika, Vohtarak, Roporak, Onua, Gali, and Kopaka Nuva, Matoro and Nuparu Mahri, Orkahm, and Lerahk.   I also built Huki and finished Sidorak, both are special because they're the first Mctoran I've built from parts bought off of Bricklink, and the first Titan I've finished since starting to rebuild sets again, respectively.   Some other notable things I got in the order were the canisters of Nokama Metru and Gorast, a

More Star Wars set updates, and slowly putting my room back together.

A bit late, but oh well.   I brought out the Motorized AT-AT and was happy to see that it was intact aside from some dishes that I saw in boxes with my other SW Sets. I also found that it makes a good steed for 2008 Takanuva.   Also found the 2011 Sith Infiltrator in a cupboard.   I also got a new bed and storage dresser about a week ago. It's kinda weird having a normal bed after sleeping in a bunk bed for about 11 years straight, but it's nice having the extra space around it. I also either se

I mostly finished the Ussanui in order to take inventory of it's missing parts, at the moment it's using several wrong coloured parts as stand-ins. Also rebuilt most of Nuhrii and Orkahm, they're just missing their necks and masks. Also finally found Photok's missing hand, after swearing I saw it several times while pawing around in my bag of Dark/Dark Bluish gray parts, but I was never able to find it on purpose until now.   Also an update on that whole rebuilding Star Wars sets thing, I found

Netflix

I just discovered the magic of it.   Yesterday I watched Titan A.E for the first time in years, it being one of my favourite movies as a kid. I forgot how violent it was, like a dude gets his neck snapped and then thrown down a flight of stairs on screen, another guy gets vapourized into green goo, and there's at least three or four scenes with Human blood.   Also, I didn't realize how existentially horrifying it was as a kid, I mean, the Earth and moon get completely destroyed in the opening sc

So I guess August is nostalgia month now.

I decided to go through some of my old Star Wars sets earlier today and it's a pretty sordid state of affairs.   I don't know what the heck I was thinking when I put everything in boxes, most of the sets are completely torn apart. Even my CW Republic Gunship, once the pride of my SW collection, is in several chunks and many more individual pieces.   Luckily the CW AT-TE, one of my two Magnaguard starfighters, the 2010 Grievous' starfighter, and the Snowspeeder and turret from the 2007 Hoth Echo

I'm not very smart, apparently

So I was going through all my HF sets (All sets from 1.0 up to the second wave of Breakout) and guess what I found? Some custom arms I made for Stormer, Stringer, and Bulk 1.0 that altogether had 6 2004-2006 era support joints, as well as several balljoints. Most of which I just got from my recent bricklink order.   It's not a total loss though, since I was still needing 2 of them.   Also, it was a REALLY bad idea to rummage through all my HF sets in the evening. It took me several hours to put

So i just went up a post rank for the first time since I became active again. It feels good.   And it was from a post about robo-dinosaurs, so that's extra good.

Bionicle Reconstruction Project: Build harder 5

My Bricklink order got here today!   With the parts from it I finished Guurahk, Vorahk, Gali and Tahu Mata, Hewkii 03, Toa Iruini, Rorzakh, Vorzakh, Nuhvok, Gahlok Va, Mantax, Avak, and Pohatu Nuva. I also got a whole bunch of Mctoran parts, including most of Kongu, and some essential pieces for Lewa Mata, Sidorak, Nivawk, and Kikanalo.   I got a huge hit of nostalgia when I put Tahu's new head together after not having put a Mata head together in 10 years, and It felt great to see Gali whole f

Call me the Mosquito hunter

I just went to walk the dog with my sister and we got eaten by mosquitoes, I managed to kill 5 of the little buggers.   Honestly if I were made king of the universe, my first order would be for all mosquitoes everywhere to die a fiery death. The spiders can find something else to eat.

Rebuilt most of Thulox, he seems to only be missing his Rahkshi head and the main launcher part. I swapped Carapar's black Inika torso with a gray one so I could give the black one to Mantax (Who is now just missing the Toa Metru arm for his left arm) . It's not completely set accurate but I think Carapar looks better with it anyway, more cohesive.   I built as much of Nivawk's legs as I could without the sockets, as well as most of Gahlok Va and Tahnok va.   I don't think I'm going to be able t

Weddings

So I attended my sister's wedding a couple weeks ago, the same sister that I yelled about on this blog a couple times years ago (I've deleted most of the related entries because OH MY GOD was I being irrationally hateful in those posts) .   It was actually pretty nice. It was outside but there was a decent breeze so it didn't get too hot. And it was nice socializing with people. There were also two separate occasions where a wasp got trapped in sushi container and a bottle of juice. It was inte

Built most of Kikanalo's torso as well as both legs plus a foot, and the upper arms. Also built most of Nivawk's upper body (Man, I forgot how cool the wings looked), but I seem to have lost all six of it's special support joints somehow. Built Keetongu's other arm, now his feet are the only things I have yet to build, but it's looking like I'll need to get some parts off of Bricklink in order to proceed. I also bit the bullet and dismantled my last remaining MOC. Turns out along with most of Ko
