Outcasts

BBC? Sci-Fi? Yes please!

Drama? Well, seems like I'm enjoying that more and more (what with Stargate Universe and Life on Mars* being a part of my viewing).

I've seen up to episode 3. And wow, it was even better than the first two. I hear episode 4 has a pretty good pace too.

Why hasn't this been advertised more/talked up? One geeky site I visit didn't make a big deal of it until after it aired.

What's also neat is how it's limited to 8 episodes. Seems to me that the BBC doesn't sell something out if it does well. They make limits on shows, make those shows the best they can, and go on their way. And boy do they do it well! (Granted, for all we know right now there could be room for a season 2. But this sounds like a quick series.)

I think I might have found some minor plot holes (like if they've been there 15 years why are they in one small shelter and not expanding with materials and resources found on Carpathia, and why did they waste precious space and fuel to bring vinyl records?), but overall I look forward to how this plays out.

I'm usually irked at how short Primeval seasons are. Here in the USA, shows last for seasons with about 25 shows per season, while the latest Primeval season has a whopping six shows.

Still, it's such a lovely show, and given the huge budget they need to keep said show going, short seasons are a must, but still, it's a little frustrating. Just a little.

Heh, most shows I know of have about 13 episodes per season, except the Stargates, Chuck, Heroes (I think), Andromeda, Farscape, and Smallville, off the top of my head, which have had more than 20 usually.

Shame to hear Primeval went back down to 6 episodes after slowly gaining more.

But then I watch shows like Outcasts and Life on Mars which both have 8 episodes (per season). Unless they are calling Outcasts a miniseries, which I don't think they are, which would then be acceptable. (Jekyll had 6, Sherlock has 3 with a second season coming, Torchwood Series 3 was deliberately called a miniseries, and Series 4 will have 10, which seems short but I think that is probably better for a serialized story arc.)
