The Holiday

Left Handed Moth

Well, that was quite a trip. If any of you don't know I was at the Dead Sea, near Jordan and in Israel. Before writing what happened on my vacation, here are some facts about where I was.

1:The hotel was a 5 star place.

2:The Dead Sea is the lowest place on the planet.

3:The water feels oily. Like taking an oil bath. It's the chemicals and tar.

4:It is a historic landmark in the bible.

Now for the events that took place those 3 days. We started packing a day before departure. My mom packed the clothes and important stuff while my brother and I packed our own stuff. I took a small red Looney Toons bag I got on New Zealand airlines. If you think that's weird, we got two more. Anyway, I brought: A PSP, two books, my MP4 and my glasses. Magically, they all fit into the small bag. It doesn't even open well.... my brother took about the same things and my dad brougt his laptop. Yes, we're a techno family. But not too techo. Before we left, my dad turned on the stairlight for our family cat. I felt so sad leaving her for 3 days. :(

First off, we drove to my grandparents house in our barely alive Mitsubishi. It explodes now and then, it's not clean and it's not comfortable. But hey, at least we have a car. Now, you're asking why would you go to your grandparents house? Simple, they paid for the trip and we had to thank them. So, a waste of fifteen minutes? Maybe. Anyway, we were off to the Dead Sea! And I hope I never have to drive there again. Five grueling hours! Through a desert (which was beautiful by the way) with my dad snoring, brother with his MP3 at full blast and my mom asking me to take pictures. I don't blame her, but have you ever tried taking photos of bedouhins, cities, camels and all sorts of things through a moving car?!

Eugh. Finally we got close. We stopped at a photo sight while my mom took pictures. We went doen a spiral road with signs that said:

0 Meters

-50 Meters

-100 Meters

and so on. When we got down to the parking lot, I had a little trouble breathing. Maybe the depth, maybe the excitement. I'll never know. At the lobby my dad, brother and I waited with the baggages until my mom found a parking space. After a couple of minutes we went to check in. They had a wall with languages from all over the world. Here's the funny thing, no english. What do you mean there's no english?! Even my mom was surprised! They had greek! Japanese! Even some African languages, and they forget ENGLISH?! That was some strange phenomonon. Here's a picture of it:

Our room was on the sixth floor last possible room. The very last room. Nice view though. The room was divided into 3 parts. Living room+bed, hallway with bathrooms and closet and master bedroom. Needless to say, my parents got the master bedroom. I had to share an uncomfortable small bed with my brother. At least there was AXN! Anyway, we immediately went to eat a snack. It was a small table with some snacky foods and pancakes! There was a moment when I tried to grab the pancakes and put them onto the plate. Took me 1 minute while Beethoven was playing in the background. That was some dramatic scene.

After we ate we went back up and unpack. We found out we had a balcony with a small jaccuzi! Plus we had a great view, so that was total win.

The rest was basically eating, swimming and sleeping. The Dead Sea was nice and strange. As stated above, the chemicals and tar made it very oily. I loved floating there, with all the salt underneath me. It burnt my knees COMPLETELY though. They were red for an hour.. my brother was inside for five minutes before he had these red spots all over his body. He's allergic to one of the chemicals. At least he could still go in to the pool. :shrugs:

Then the ride back home. Nothing interesting there though.... :P
