Reintroduction to Spherus Magna Scientific Journal
Entry 1
I am Jafu, formerly an onu-matoran resident of the Matoran Universe. Following our evacuation onto Bara Magna, several other archivists and I deemed it prudent to begin collecting information on this world and the species which inhabit it to help us transition to our new home. Several Glatorian have offered to aid us and act as guides. I will be working with a green armored one who they call Vastus. He will escort me through the jungle to catalogue rahi.I will be keeping this journal to record my journey.
Entry 2
I have been abundantly productive so far. Over 42 new species have been recorded, mostly insects and flying rahi as of yet. Vastus is a natural; he is able to snare rahi with ease and can spot all kinds of camouflaged creatures. I believe this could be attributed to his experience in combat. I have learned much about this world’s history from him, although I know very little of his personal history. He has mentioned a cave deep in the jungle that is home to many rahi. We will travel there soon.
Entry 3
On the way to the cave, Vastus and I recorded 37 new rahi. This is not the barren wasteland I have been expecting. Every tree and bush is filled with life. Vastus doesn’t even know all of the Rahi, and he’s lived here for hundreds of thousands of years! Clearly we have much to learn still. At the cave, we found the most extraordinary rahi I have ever seen; it was roughly the size of a matoran, with short stubby legs and four muscular arms. Its head resembled a great kanohi mahiki, and it had three wickedly sharp horns protruding from its forehead. The most amazing feature however, was its skin: it was constantly changing color and texture. One moment it would be green and slimy-looking, the next it would be bright blue and covered in scales.
Vastus said that they had no name for this creature, so I will call it a mahikahi, after the mask of illusion and the shape of its head-I wonder if there is any correlation?
We will explore the cave later.
