Where is the best place to store pieces so they don't break?

My issue is that my pieces tend to break a lot, they are currently stored in the basement, which they are at this rate mostly sorted, but I don't know where to store my ball sockets and thin technic beams. Is a somewhat damper and cool environment good? Or is a warm one good?

Keep your legos in a mild temperature.

Cooller Is better but to keep them from breaking you need a good level of moisture in the room.

I recommend a humidifier to add that needed moisture.

The moisture prevents dry rot.
