Assigning Star Ratings To People

I notice the board has star ratings for users. I don't think this is a good idea.   What can one possibly gain out of being given a bad rating, with no reason. If you do leave a rating on a person's page, what are the chances, really, that you'll leave a comment explaining why you gave them that rating? With other things, such as artwork, or blogs, or videos, the chances are much higher. I would not 'one-star' a person, because that is just plain mean. Imagine how degrading it must feel to be a

Desire Or Legend? (help!)

I really can't wait for tomorrow morning, because Dr. Who comes out! It looks fantastic, from all the clips I've seen, and I hope it is   Anyway, I'm really split over which phone to get. It's a rather difficult decision, because it's almost $600 overall I'm paying for it (and that's just straight off). I've managed to narrow it down to two phones, both by the same company: The HTC Desire and HTC Legend. They are easily the two best Android phones on the market (in my opinion, I mean, spec-wi

Heaps Of Things To Do

I've had quite a bit to do lately, mainly in the form of homework.   My procrastination says I ought to blog them instead of actually doing them: Maths homework English assignment Science homework Society and Culture homework (done =D) Study for Visual Design Visual Design homework IST assignment (in-school) Study for half-yearly exams next term Engineering project (in-school) Various other, extra-curricular projects, like MOCing, making things, etc. Now that I list it it looks like a lot.  Ra

Learning A New Language

Not just any old language, no. A computer language. Java. I'm learning Java so that I can make apps for Android, because it looks like fun. Also, apparently if you get more than 5000 downloads on an app Google sends you a Nexus One, which would save me money.   Hello World worked, and it was slightly more complex than in QuickBasic, which I can also write. Hello World in QuickBasic: PRINT "Hello World!"   Hello World in Android/Java: package com.example.helloandroid; import android.app.Act

Still Sick

Somehow, I'm STILL sick. I've had a massive headache since yesterday morning. And on top of that, I'm not allowed to have medicine, so my acne is getting really bad.   D=   But hey, I get out of my vaccinations today (can't have them while you're sick), so that's a sort of plus, considering my fear of needles.

Flash Cs4

Honestly, HOW DOES IT WORK!?   I'm trying to make a short video intro for any videos (or software of any variety) I might make in the future, and my usual video-making program (Photoshop =P) is not accessible (ie. I don't actually have it). So I'm stuck with this 'dedicated' video-making program, Flash CS4 Professional, which I do have (Yeah, thanks, DET) on my laptop.   I've made all the layers in GIMP, and got it saved as both a .xcf and a .psd, but I can't for the life of me figure out how

Trypanophobia

I have it. I found that out yesterday, unfortunately.   If you don't know, trypanophobia is an irrational fear of needles. I always knew I was afraid of needles, but I didn't quite realise how bad I had it until yesterday.   Yesterday, you see, I had something of an episode. Breathing became hard, my heart went heavy and fast, and my body weak, mainly my appendages. So my parents took me to hospital. There wasn't much in the way of people there, so we didn't have to wait too long to see the nu

Croup

So today I stayed home again (3 school days so far), and went to the doctor (so strictly speaking I didn't stay home, but you know what I mean). I was diagnosed (hopefully correctly) as Croup, which is basically an overreaction on the part of my immune system. That means I'm (strictly speaking) not sick. Which means, probably, I can go back to school tomorrow. But I get to miss out on sport for a while. That's good too   Rav

No Tsunami

As far as I know, we haven't had a tsunami. We're still on tsunami warning, though.   Went to the doctor, I have a respiratory infection. So I've taken about 4 different types of tablets, and hopefully that'll fix me up. I get tomorrow off school, and maybe Tuesday too.

Tsunami

I just posted an entry about how there's been a massive earthquake in Chile, and that there would be a tsunami.   The wave just hit New Zealand. It was 3 metres tall.   It could get smaller, it could get bigger, it could stay the same. I'm hoping for the former. A >3m tsunami in Sydney would be terrible. It probably wouldn't get to our house, even more so because it's on a hill, but still, it'd wreck the CBD.

Birthday + Earthquake

Well, today, the 28th, is my birthday. I'm 15, yay!   But I'm also sick. And on top of that, there was a massive (8.8 on the Richter scale, which, by the way, has been long superseded by the MMS) earthquake in Chile, where a lot of my extended family live.   Also Sydney's on tsunami alert, and it's probably going to hit at quarter to 9 (about 3 hours from post time, because apparantly it's 1 hour off). The wave ought to be small, but it might get bigger on it's way over (it was 2.34m in Chile

Proof That Hero Factory Is Doctor Who

"Stringer is armed with a built-in, multi-functional sonic weapon"   You see, Hero Factory is actually Villengard, obviously, and they all travel in small, hard-to-land pods through time and space!   IT WAS SO OBVIOUS!   And in the end, the Hero Factory will be replaced by a banana grove.   I trust the sets will be better after that   Rav

Chrome Os

Hello   Obvious is my possession of a LEGO USB stick, but I've put it to very good use recently.   I used it to make a build of Chrome OS called Flow bootable.   So I've been trying out Chrome OS this morning, and I have to say, I like it! It's compatible with Chrome themes and extensions, and of course it looks like Chrome. It basically IS Chrome, in fact, with very few differences. I'll do a pros and cons list for fun:   Pros: Chrome's sleekness Themes Extensions Lots of web apps Flash pr

8 Gigabytes Of Lego

As I said I would (right on schedule, too, it's exactly later), here's the pictures of my LEGO flash drive.   Front View Side View Back View Plugged In   I think it's quite good. The circuitry's only come out twice in the half a day I've had it!   But now all the holes are superglued shut. Shouldn't get any more problems. Bit delicate though, I'll need to keep it on something that doesn't get things crushed easily. A lanyard, perhaps? Or my keyring?   Both of those means it'll need a ring

8gb Of Lego + A Milestone

My dad bought me an 8GB Home Brand USB stick (a USB from Woolworths, the food shop). Since it was encased in a loose plastic box, I decided to rip it apart and make a new case. I used a grey 2x6 brick and a grey 2x6 plate, superglue, and a dremel. I'll get some pics up soon, it's a bit messy.   Also, I've settled on which phone to start saving up for. A Motorola Milestone (Droid in USA). It looks like the best Android phone right now. Since there's probably going to be another one like it (the

Things That Have Happened Recently

I haven't posted in ages, so I thought I might as well.   My dad's put parental controls on, so I only have access to the computer 4 hours a day weekdays, 14 hours a day weekends. This is annoying, because it's the 4 hours of my day that nobody is online, that is, 6PM-8PM GMT+10   The End of Time Part 1 airs tomorrow, and I'm hoping at least SOME friends turn up to watch with us. If they don't, they should at least come for Part 2. The annoying thing is that (probably because of TV channel comp

The Stars + Total Update

The Stars are out in Australia!   I have no idea why I haven't said this on my blog until today, after all, I got them 4 days ago.   I like the Stars, particularly Nektann, Tahu, and Rahkshi. The first thing I did when I got them was to replace the MU beings' hands with MU hands, because beings of the MU do not have hands. A side effect was that Tahu's shield increases in awesomeness by a factor of 1 billion (that is, it looks like a proper shield, rather than a little disc or something.).

New Teeth. That's Weird.

I just got my braces off.   It hurt more than a tooth being pulled out.   And my gums stick out and are uncomfortable.   I can't remember the last time I had brace-less teeth.

Star Coins Are Easy

Everything up to 8-5 now. Once I get all of them I'll be triple-star, then when I do W9, quadruple-star!   Then it's just W9 Star Coins. And Star Coins are easy.   (but of course, I've been using a guide)

Star Coins

I got NSMB Wii for Christmas, and after I got back from NZ on the 13th, I've been playing it, a lot. I'm double shiny star complete at the moment, and I've got levels 9-1 through 5, working on 6. World 6's star coins are hard for me to get, and World 5's were probably easiest.   I want my quintuple shiny star completion!   Also, I have 99 lives!

Old Episodes

My dad bought me all 4 of the revived series. I watched the one episode I'd missed, The Fires of Pompeii, and I watched some 9th Doctor episodes, and I watched New Earth. And I found the best 10th Doctor quote ever (or rather, so far)... When the Face of Boe finds finishes talking to the Doctor, he says "That is enigmatic... That- That is... That is textbook enigmatic."   Love the 10th Doctor.

Mata Nui Moc = Massive Own Creation

I'm working on a Mata Nui MOC right now. I've got so far the lower torso, that is, hip and pistons up to the bottom of the chest. It's massive. Here's a pic (linked) of Toa Mata Nui lying down next to his former lower torso: Here   This will be a hard project.

In A Brave New World!

I listened to Jeff Wayne's musical version of War of the Worlds a couple of days ago, and I can't get it out of my head now! It does have some good songs, though. And a good story. So I suppose it's OK.   My favourite's Brave New World, where the Artilleryman sings about his plan of living underground:   We're gonna build a whole new world for ourselves. Look, they clap eyes on us and we're dead, right? So, we gotta make a new life where they'll never find us. You know where? Underground! You
