I hope so. Due to inclement weather, the Texas Rangers will send Colby Lewis to the mound for an opportunity at the first Rangers championship tonight rather than last night's originally scheduled date. Let's go Rangers!
A wild ride down in Arlington leaves the Cardinals speechless and the Rangers a win away from their first world championship. Game 3 was a 16-7 slugfest that went the Cardinals way, giving them a 2-1 lead and an excellent start to their roadwork in the Fall Classic, but that momentum was shot down in game 4, when Derek Holland shut down the Cardinals and Mike Napoli launched a big one off of Mitchell Boggs. Then on Monday, Game 5 provided an exciting follow-up to Holland's performance as the R
After turning the World Series into a best of five with home field advantage for themselves, the Texas Rangers will try to gain the lead in the Fall Classic tonight at 7:00 P.M. CT. And go Rangers! (Awesome, the smeag emoticon is still here!)
An amazing comeback in the ninth inning has the World Series tied up as the Cardinals and Rangers go down deepinthaheartatexas. The pitching showdown between Colby Lewis and Jaime Garcia was scoreless up until the seventh, when the Cardinals drove in the first, and seemingly the winning run. However, a bloop single by Kinsler in the ninth and some nifty baserunning by Texas allowed the Rangers to tie the game off of a sac fly by Josh Hamilton, and then take the lead off of another sac fly in the
GRRRRR  At least Carpenter's out of the way. If Texas can win game 2, they'll be in good shape. If not, though, it may be a long offseason for me.
Get ready, people, the Fall Classic is here. After upsetting the Phillies in the NLDS, largely due to the stellar pitching of Chris Carpenter, the St. Louis Cardinals have once more reached the World Series, and aim for championship number eleven. (I have the number memorized, thanks to the Cardinals fans living in Central/Southern Illinois.) The Rangers, meanwhile, have shown that they don't need Cliff Lee by repeating as American League champions after never before reaching the World Serie
You guys know ought to know which teams are in it, I don't need to tell you. My prediction is the team not named Rangers in six. Now if you don't mind, I'll go away and mourn my misfortune. Nobody knows the trouble I've seen. Nobody knows the sorrow...
Congratulations to the Texas Rangers for returning to the World Series for the second straight year. BTW, if St. Louis wins the NLCS, don't expect congratulations from the BaseBlog for that.
Hey folks. Been a while. A long while. So long that the last article I had included mentioning Carl Crawford. He's not even relevant now, which is probably the reason the Bo-Sox are watching the Postseason from their couches rather than the diamonds. So I guess it's time to head into recap mode while I watch the Brew Crew tie the NLCS versus them stinkin' 'Birds. (Wish I had SPIRIT do one of them speedy, high-pitched voice "WE WIN" videos to give me a hand. Pre-All-Star Break:Yo the injuns are
The Tribe has been raiding quite a few wagon trains lately, with the profits of an eight game winning streak to boast of. Granted, in the MLB, eight games is only 5% of the season, but it's more than most suspected of Chief Wahoo's warriors. Yesterday, the latest success of the Cleveland Indians came through the eight-inning shutout delivered by Indians starter Mitch Talbot, who earned his first win of the season against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California, USA, North America, etc.,
I forgot to fix what my maddened, pink-obseesed, Mattel-manufactured alter ego did to my blog. Taken care of now. Welcome back to the BaseBlog, folks. B)
This was announced by Cubs blog today. I guess the Winter Classic and Wrigleyville Classic convinced the Cubs that they need to have a basketball game in Wrigley also:
The MLB returns for it's 111th year with it's two-league system as the Giants begin their title defense against their rivals, the Yankee's try to overcome the Tigers at Yankee Stadium, and of course, the traditional first pitch of the season by the President of the United States of America at Nationals Park in Washington.
Atlanta Braves @ Washington Nationals
As has been the tradition ever since the Expos moved to the capital of the USA, President Barack Obama will start the season by throwi
TOMORROW!
TOMORROW, BASEBALL SEASON'S UNDERWAY.
SO YOU BETTER GET READY FOR A BRAND NEW DAY!
HEY CHICAGO WHADDYA' SAY?
THE CUBS ARE GOING TO WIN TODAY!
Ignoring the fact that the Cubs first game is actually on April 1st, not March 31st. Which makes April 1st the second Greatest Day in All of History.
Think I should start using one? I once considered it before, but decided not to since it's a hassle when you use Fast Reply most of the time.
Howzabout Century Gothic in green?
Now it's time for April Madness, I guess. As you all know, hockey and baseball are my top two favorite sports, so when the college tournaments come around, I don't watch many bowl games or March Madness games, but I do plan on watching most of the Frozen Four and the Men's College World Series.
It's kind of surprising, though, to see that the Wisconsin Badgers aren't even going to be in the tournament after finishing in second place to Boston College in last year's Frozen Four.
A guess, be
ONLY EIGHT MORE DAYS TILL BASEBALL!
ONLY 37 DAYS UNTIL THE IIHF WORLD ICE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT! (USA! USA!)
ONLY 6 DAYS UNTIL OUR LOCAL MINOR LEAGUE ICE HOCKEY TEAM FINISHES THEIR SEASON AND GOES TO THE PLAYOFFS!
ONLY 2 DAYS UNTIL MY OLMAK SPINNY!
A true fan isn't blind. A true fan sees that football is gone and may never come back, and while we might prefer for it to be back, we won't storm the stadiums and give Roger Goodell and DeMaurice Smith petitions saying "OH WE HATE YOU NFL AND NFLPA LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO US SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE REFUSE TO BUY STUFF NOW!".
We are content to stick with baseball, and we realize that after the 1994 strike, it was not quite as bad as people made it out to be.
Who's with me?
