The Frog in the Bog
The frog in the bog dislikes smog and fears dogs near the clog in its log near the soggiest jogger who flogs lazy hogs, drinks eggnog, and plays Pog in the foggiest fog in the bog, turning cogs using togglable progs in the log'rithmic blog about Gog and Magog typed by groggy couch-hogging green frogs who read logs while they jog in the foggiest fog by the log in the bog!
... You're probably wondering if I've gone insane--no, no, just felt like putting this up since I
Real quick, my reactions to the news about Bionicle:
1) I think this is probably a good time to end Bionicle. It didn't surprise me, and the rumors were flying long enough that I'm not disappointed. We will have had ten years of awesome sets and story. The sets have gotten so advanced there was little to no room left for improvement. The story has reached -- or is reaching -- the possibility for the perfect climactic ending.
2) I might be a bit selfish in my reaction to this, though. I've
Altacosmos Chronicle #2: The Dynasty
Haven't yet linked to the second Altacosmos Chronicle. And won't have time for a fancier blog entry this week. So yarr.
And took so long to link to the artwork topic that it is now dead lol. Just have a peek in both stories at the end (and banner at top) for the art. Here's the Bio Code link again.
Note that there are ten freeware .ppt avs available for the Dynasty, including a coolified Ignika (as seen in banner above). As always, no sig cred ne
How to fix maj URLs -- Click the Edit button, and immediately submit post/comment/whatever. That's it.
I got B6 to set the word filter to change "maj.com" to "majhost.com" automatically. But you do need to actually edit and resubmit for it to take effect. (You don't need to type anything in your post yourself.)
Majhost?! -- Okay, I know I advise against criticisms when you don't know the story, but IMO if you present yourself as an image hosting site, you are making a promise that you wi

Mental Health Diet Regiment
All those veggy diets and such bleagh-ness neglect the importance of good taste for mental health. Besides, all the fancy schmancy diet intructions are murder on your sanity. Who cares about a flat stomach if you go insane?
Therefore: eat tasty stuff. Just less of it.

The Arena Method of Writing
Today the Bones Blog brings you the writing method that not only avoids writer's block, but creates a realistic, believable, and enjoyable plotline and story that is fun both for the reader to read and the writer to write.
The Arena Method is my term for what I consider the perfect way to write a story. GregF has commented that this basic idea is how he writes Bionicle story -- this is my take on it. I'll introduce the concept, list the rules of the method
Today the Bones Blog brings you a simple psychological exercise I have often found beneficial, which can help you learn to enjoy new things better. Bold is for the basic points.
This was originally posted in response to someone who argued for imposing negative personal tastes on others. I do not agree with imposing tastes on others, but in reply to him I pointed out that by that logic, we could argue that it's far better for the majority to try to change the disgruntled majority to like wha
Today the Bones Blog brings you a topic that is essential for any member of any online fan forum to understand -- the equality of varying personal preferences/tastes, and how not recognizing this can sometimes lead to misunderstandings, or worse. Bold is for important points, not emotionalism.
This will be very to-the-point so it's easier to read -- if you wanna know more, please ask! Please realize my goal is to show an easy way to help us all avoid flaming each other, even if we disagree on
So, I have gotten to the part of my retelling where Makuta takes over, and I "discovered" (having apparently never consciously noticed) that officially, he nicknames the MU the "Makutaverse" at that time. I like the idea of him naming it after himself, but Makutaverse sounds hopelessly silly. For one thing, it's a fusion of both English and Matoran. I got to thinking, though -- what if I come up with a Matoran word for "universe", and mix THAT with Makuta? Looking into the Maori, I found a w

Hey, guys--this is a quick callout to any of my fellow "S&T geeks" for the Storyline FAQ Topic. As you guys probably know, I haven't been able to pay much attention to BZP this fall due to tons of college homework. Well, the FAQ's topic's last additions (aside from one I just made, which reminded me ) were from early 2006, so there's probably a lot of frequently asked questions that could be added for later 2006 and the leadup to 2007. That topic works by linking to S&T topics where some
Okay, I'm getting really sick of this.
Almost every week, I can go into the Sets forum, and find a topic like "Why does everybody hate Tahu?" or a statement inside a topic along the lines of "We all know everybody hates the Piraka."
Someone sees one post, maybe five, maybe even fifty posts, of complaints about that set, and then they commit the logical fallacy known as Hasty Generalization, assuming that "everybody" feels that way. And that's just the ones that actually post about it in
NOTICE: "Tag doesn't work for me" is NOT an excuse not to use it. For spoiler tags to work for you, you must use the "default" skin, NOT the "default blue" skin. That is most likely the problem if they're not working for you. Even if it isn't, you MUST use the spoiler tag as the policy outlines for others' sake. See here for more.
A lot of people seemed to need this notice, so just posted a new rule explanation topic in S&T, and the above notice text has been edited into the Complete BZPo

A lot of people don't seem to know about this method, so here you go. Been meaning to do this for a while, recent events merely reminded me. Note, please take into account the suggestions mentioned in this Refdesk topic. Also HH has good tips here.
The most secure passwords are random strings of as wide a range of keyboard characters as possible. An easy way to create them is to bang on your keyboard.
It sounds primitive -- it is -- yet it gives you the most secure possible password. The
Reminder: The Pet Peeve Contest is open till November 29.
One of the most asked questions about Bionicle is "What genre is it?" There's a lot of confusion about this, and today the Bones Blog brings you the answer to the question (and to why it's confusing!).
There's a standard conversation that I see very often in S&T and other places. It goes something like this.
Member A: "What genre is Bionicle?"
Member B: "It's science fiction."
Member C: "No, it's fantasy!"

In an hour, the final S&T #2 polls will be closed. There are still a few judging nitpickinesses that will need dealt with before the wins can be final... but when the wins -are- final, I'm going to have the entire complete list of entries in the Results Topic, this time without any judging notes stuck next to them at all--instead there will be little tags showing off how far each got in the polls. "Awards", as it were.
In addition... there were just so many awesome entries that couldn't w
Sorry for the delay in working on the ranking poll. We've got someone tying for 2nd place in one of the Media polls. You have until midnight EST tonight (May 25) to choose which one of these two entries will be a winner:
Entry 1: Bionicle 8 Years, by island master, Video
Entry 2: 8 Years, 8 Haikus, by Skullkid, a series of poems in Audio form [Audio file] [Topic with text]
Post here which one you select for the tiebreaker.
These three MOCs tied for third place in the Semifinal A poll for S&T#4's MOC category. My math can allow two of them to move on to the final poll (making ten entries in that poll). Post which two you want to move on.
You have until 6:00 EST today to choose. Then I gotta get those final polls up.

As yall may have noticed, there are two contests currently ongoing in S&T. I have several changes to our contest plans to announce today.
1) KanohiJournal contests will now get pinned S&T topics to advertise them (entries themselves will be on their website). The current contest, Desert Birdwatching, just launched. Go check it out!
2) In case you didn't see it, the next EM contest is up -- Tyrants. You can MOC the Tyrant species, and/or describe Tyrant powers.
3) B6 has also a
