The B Z P Blog Story

Presenting...     Have you ever seen those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books? Instead of being a linear read, each chapter ends by giving giving you options. Thus, instead of one storyline, you have a book that can take you on a dozen different journeys.   That's what this story is supposed to be. You start off in the same place, but at the end of each chapter, you get to choose which path you'll take, and then see where the story leads you. There are over a dozen different endings, and a full

That's Appropriate

I find it oddly satisfying that the Google adds of today are featuring The Legend Reborn, instead of their usual junk that isn't really related to a Bionicle forum and really shouldn't be in a kid's forum...

That's A Lot Of Writing

So I just compiled a list of all the stories I've ever written. Well, maybe not all of them, but the ones I can remember or find evidence of. And I'm not counting any school essays or story ideas that I've had but haven't started on. So just for fun I'll post some stats. I have 81 stories on this list. 45 of these are Bionicle stories (I've written a lot more short stories and comedies than I thought... of course, nobody ever read most of them, but I digress) I lost about 25 of these storie

That's a lot of Writing

So I've probably mentioned that I've been working on one of my personal stories. It's a long one, already over 200 pages long. But I started rewriting it way back in 2009, and I've been making slow progress on it. I've only really begun to crank it out this last month, when I got past a lull point and moved onto some of the exciting parts! And I've been keeping my progress documented too, so I know roughly how much I've written and when.   A week ago or so, I noticed that I had written quite

That Is So High School...

I had a big paper to turn in for my course. by "turn in" I mean "e-mail", because our class is all about technology, and why use more paper when the teacher knows how to use e-mail? Anyway, since it was due "Wednesday" by class time (nine in the morning, pretty much), I spent all last night writing it up. It wasn't a great paper, but it was complete. I e-mail it, and come to class tired but glad I didn't have to write anymore on the subject. Turns out, the due date was extended, I just didn

That Facts About E W

He is a liar and a thief.   When he said he was out of ammo, I came out of hiding and he still had some and shot me.   When I went to collect the fallen ammo, he stole my Midak blasters.   He is not to be trusted in a war of shooting Bionicle collectables at one another.   He also has better aim. >.<

That 70s Show

I just spent hours last night reading through an entire page (a veeeery long page too) of quotes from the TV series "That 70s Show." Unfortunately, the bulk of them are inappropriate for BZP, so I can't post a list of my favorites.   But without actually discussing the content of the show, I will say it was a good show, for the most part.

Than Is In The News!

Well, the news of my blog, anyway. I'd put it on the front page, but abuse of my powers at this stage will only lead to trouble.   Anyway, Than complains that the forums are still down. I heard him say so (or rather, saw him type so) He may not have said exactly that, but I think I can paraphrase / put-words-in-his-mouth.   So, yeah, Than wants the forums back online, like the rest of us. And if you're reading this, it either means his wishes have come true... or you're staff.

Ten Years

Oh yeah, I missed it but last week I got my ten year spinny. I've stuck around here for ten years. Crazy.   In other news, I may have the flu. Or maybe just a cold. Or maybe some sort of exotic cancer... Yay researching symptoms on the internet. Either way, it comed with a sore throat that still hasn't gone away. :-(

Teaser Shot

Click for larger image.   So this is a group shot of all the MOCs for my Thirty-Six Mask project. 29 Rahi, 15 Matoran, 6 Toa. 50 MOCs overall. yes, the quality is lacking because 1: the location is pretty bad, what with green carpet and my Lego tubs in the background, and 2: Because there are MOCs of various sizes and colors. But it gives you a glimpse of some of the creatures, as well as the overall size. It'll be more spread out in a fight scene for the conventions (I hope... DV take note

Teaser For Con

It wasn't intentionally supposed to be so blurry, but I only have a webcam at the moment, so...   I also don't want to post all of them... some of them may be context material.

Team Lightyear

Everybody should know Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. But there was also a cartoon show that ran in 2000 that followed his adventures as a Space Ranger. These designs are based on characters from that show. From left to right: Booster, XR, Buzz Lightyear, Mira Nova.   I like each one well enough on their own, although I'll admit there are some flaws, and their proportions to each other are a bit off. (Mira is a bit too large, Booster is on the small side.) XR's helmet is also too small, but the n

Tea with a Time Traveling T-Rex in a Top Hat

Tea with a Time Traveling T-Rex in a Top Hat by Xccj, on Flickr A Victorian era time traveler is visiting a T-Rex, who is from an alternate dimension and is also dressed for the Victorian era and has time traveled, and together they share a cup of tea. (It makes more sense in context.)   This is for the ChronoCon 10,000BC theme being hosted by Brothers Brick at BrickCon 2014. And I mean, I think they've either done a lame job promoting it, or everybody else is keeping their designs close to th

Taxi

Have you ever wanted to get in a Taxi and just tell the driver, "Follow that car up there."?     I just wonder how that would go down.   *Has been watching Rush Hour 2 for the umpteenth time, but that's okay because he got it on sale at a really good price, so he owns it now*   Anyway, I have also been making progress on my Slizers epic... much to every body's surprise, I'm sure. I don't only have one chapter in the bank, ready to be posted, but TWO! Unfortunately, they have to go through

Tarix

Okay, if you read DV's review, then you should know that Tarix sucks. I would refute it, but I'm not a staff member, so my opinion means nothing. Instead, I will talk about this set in my blog, and you can read it if you want.   First of all, the basic build. It's basically the classic Inika, with one change. The torso armor is an Inika shoulder armor piece, not the classic and bulky torso armor of old. I approve of this, as I also used it on one of my sets. Lewa Phantoka, during a period

Tanma

Lookie here, a real set review. With pictures too! Pictures, as in plural. Amazing, I can use a camera. And type. And look at plastic Lego figures...   Oh, yeah, the review.   (Titled too, just in case you didn't realize who I was talking about or who is doing this review)   First off, the journey to get Tanma. Today, I visited my third Lego store... the one in Washington. Yeah, the store's not actually in Seattle, but neither am I, and the bus system around here is good enough, as

Tally The Votes

Monster / Titan Contest   My entries   MOC: 0 votes. Pretty standard.   Story: 4 votes. Dunno what people were thinking, but it apparently ties me in second...?   Art: 4 votes. Again. Technically it's 4th place? But there were clearly some better things there, and they got their votes deservingly.   Games: 7 votes? WHA? At the very least, this means that I should actually try and make that game. Totes wasn't expecting that.   Again, all in all, there were some epic entries in all the cat

Talking To Myself...

The other day I was reading Pearls Before Swine and there was a section where Rat was saying that it would be better to pile your writing under a box than in a blog, because it would still get the same amount of views but without the cost of internet service.   I can relate, but I don't really mind. I like talking (or writing) to, essentially, myself. I have my own computer where there's no internet access, and nobody goes on it but me. I started off by writing some personal diaries, which

Tahu Mistika

He was awesome in the book, he was wicked in the comics, but how is he as a set?   Well, here are some of my opinions on...     Okay, I actually got him a couple of weeks back at Target. I stopped by on the way to the grocery store (a little out of the way, perhaps, but I digress) I was searching for the Mstika, and Fred Meyers didn't have 'em yet. Well, Target did. They had a bunch of Gali and Onua and a few Bitils, but only a couple of Gorasts and one Krika. Oh, and they also had one

System Sorting

A while ago, I blogged about my latest attempt to sort through my Bionicle / technic elements. Well, this is the weekend before finals, but since I've been totally cramming for a while before that, I spent time relaxing and decided to start sorting through my system collection.   For the most part, I sorted my collection into three main categories; bricks, plates, and slopes. I also separated elements that were minifig related or technic, smaller special elements, and then pieces that generally

System Bionicle 2015 Mask Connection Method

I just came across a new method for connection Bionicle 2015 masks to 2x2 round bricks.     The new style of Bionicle masks that came out this year had an odd connection that allowed for them to be flipped off the head as part of an action feature, but this made their connection point rather loose. The heads were less than ideal to squeeze them on, and while you could fit them on technic axle or rod holes, they were often weak or loose.   This new method uses a 2x2 round bricls, which slides in

Sword Fight Story

I haven't blogged in a while, which is sad because that's the bulk of my BZP activity nowadays. My life is just that dull right now, and I have lots of school stuff to work on.   But anyway, November is the month of writing, according to NaNo. I didn't do it this year, but I did get 50,000+ words in 30 days done this summer. And hey why not take an excerpt from one that!   BACKSTORY   Not gonna post the whole thing, but here's the premise. The protagonist has snuck onto an enemy base, and he has

Swine Flu In The Room

Okay, I don't know if it's actually Swine flu, but my roommate's suddenly very sick, with a fever and anything, so I'm taking a guess. He woke me up at about 4 in the morning coughing really bad. Luckily I had some medicine I was able to share... because I am paranio about sickness, so I'm stocked. (Although now I need to buy more for me)   So I'm not sick yet, and I'm not planning on getting sick, and I'm actively working to avoid getting sick... but all the same, I'm a pessemist about this

Survived It

I braved the storm and crowd and went shopping today, the last weekend before Christmas.   The crowd wasn't that bad... especially considering what day it is... but the weather was terrible. Lots of snow and wind and everything. Almost whiteout conditions on out way home. Now, this might seem normal place in Colorado or Alaska or Yellowknife or even the Cascades... but we don't usually get it this bad down where we live.   I hope our power doesn't go out again. It turns out last time a nei
