Most likely it's because you were 9 or some young age when you first got into Bionicle, and you've grown out of the target age group and now find the sets much less atractive. You still find the old sets amazing because that's what you remember. Sure this doesn't comply with everyone, but it's the story with me.
Also, other things may be coming into your life, such as school and/or relationships. You may be starting your life up and can't afford the sets at the moment and therefore base
