Windows XP with DirectX 9 (latest XP-compatible version), Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor, and about 178 GBs across it's two hard drives.

Nothing all that impressive. I'd love a modest gaming computer. :|

I'd say get a new graphics card. Unless you really want 7. =P

(Also 7 is compatible with DX10 and higher so that's pretty necessary for any modern gaming PC).

Luckily my laptop has Windows 7, so after my eyes burned while looking at that image, I just looked at my desktop and they healed instantly.

Let me just say Windows 7 beats Windows XP into the ground.

I guess for a gaming PC 7 would be the better choice...

I had the same thing happen to my computer with Age of Empires III, only everything green.

After playing through HL2 to get to that point, I'm revisiting this entry to agree that your PC indeed hates(Hated?) Half Life 2. =P

Ironically, the GPU I have was originally showed off using Half-Life 2 Episode 1 as a tech demo, and it ran competently.

Turns out the final product didn't live up to that. T_T

Haha. xD Though, maybe that's the problem, maybe they didn't add the graphics material they used in Episode One's tech demo into Half Life 2. =P

Nah it's pretty much the same in terms of engine.

Though HL2 has some issues that never appeared on Epsiode 1 or 2...

I'm not sure then. =P Maybe Episodes 1 and 2 use a newer version that's also for some reason compatible with your GPU, whereas the older game isn't. =P
