I don't know who this is. What was he best known for?

Stateside, probably for being the Slash to Thin Lizzy's GNR - Not the only guitarist or the first, but the de facto guitarist everyone knows from the band. He had a fair share of success as a solo artist in the UK to my understanding, but most of his stuff wasn't released in the US, so it was hard to come by here.

I suggest we take a moment of silence for this man.

I honestly never knew much about him, but it's a shame whenever a musician passes on; they're artists in their own ways, and artists always add something positive to the world, even if on occasion it's outweighed by the bad.
