So I walk into my apartment building to get to my home after school, and I enter directly after this man with an orange bucket. He has keys to the building, but I've never seen him before. Once we're both in, he looks back at me, and says something very fast.

He either said, "Wassup?" or "Nice hat." (I was wearing my Torchic hat)

I was so confused so all I did was give him a small smile in response.

What kind of ambiguous (not sure that's the right word...) things have you heard?

My UPS man once said something to me... I couldn't understand him and I said that and he repeated himself... but I still didn't understand so I just nodded and smiled. I might not talk loud all the time, but at least what I say is easy to comprehend.

 

Oh! There was this older Italian gentlemen who wanted a pound of something from the deli, but he spoke broken English so it sounded like 'half pound.' I could not understand him and he couldn't say it for me to understand, so we used good old fashioned pencil and paper.
