Spring Training Showdown

The Nationals and Cardinals had a faceoff in Florida yesterday, after a few pitches were thrown "just a bit inside". The benches cleared, although no punches were thrown. Later on, there were some more beaned batters for the Nationals after Nyjer Morgan (Yes, the same Nyjer Morgan who took out the Marlins' catcher last season) ran into Albert Pujols on the way to first base, although Morgan and the Cardinals' pitcher, Chris Carpenter, claimed the collision and the hit batters were unintentional. The only person to actually admit that they hit someone on purpose was Livan Hernandez of the Nationals, who claimed it was just because Carpenter had hit a few guys. Batista also hit Ian Desmond of the Nationals in the next inning, furthering the tensions between the two teams at that point.

Both teams got in scraps last season, but not with each other. After being hit by a pitch against the Marlins in a series in Miami, Nyjer Morgan charged the mound and got a couple of hard punches to the face, as well as getting clotheslined by one of the Marlins players. The Cardinals, however, had their brawl with their main competitor for the Central Division, the Cincinnati Reds.

P.S. ALSO, ONLY 9 DAYS TILL BASEBALL SEASON'S UNDER WAY!
